  2. New Liverpool manager did well in his first interview with the press. Striking the right cord with both his old and new clubs by thanking Swansea for the wonderful years and paid tribute to LFC legend Kenny Dalglish. Most importantly, he evaded the question on whether he will be bringing in players from Swansea. Even if there is a gentleman agreement with Swansea not to touch their players now, Gylfi Sigurdsson could still be here as he is technically not yet a Swansea player.

  11. I must say his term is rather Tiger head Snake tail. Got elected on a surge of Hope and Change but it got bogged down by partisan politics and petered out after that. For his whole term he has been skirting the issue of gay mariage but now he is in support of it. Signs of desperation?

  18. Since the stop making Type-Rs, S2000, NSX, etc etc, Honda has been making plain cars..... (although some may think they are still very good as B&B cars) Same for Mazda (after the Rx-7s, Infini etc), Toyota (after the Supra, AE86, etc), etc. Lately, Honda has revealed new models eg the new NSX, does this mean they are slowing finding their mojo again? BTW, how long more will it take for the Korean car makers, who are achieving good sales figures, show us a bit of their mojo?
  19. Government releases 5 future population scenarios Published on Apr 24, 2012 The National Population and Talent Division (NPTD) on Tuesday released five future population scenarios that highlight Singapore's pressing challenges. -- ST PHOTO: SHAHRIYA YAHAYA By Phua Mei Pin The National Population and Talent Division (NPTD) on Tuesday released five future population scenarios that highlight Singapore's pressing challenges. The release of this paper is part of a public engagement campaign by the government on population issues, in the lead-up to a White Paper on population that will come out later this year. The paper can be seen at www.nptd.gov.sg/. One scenario projects that the total fertility rate stays at its current low of 1.2 births per woman, with no supplement to the population from immigration. In this scenario, Singapore's citizen population will start to shrink 13 years from now, and decrease by more than half a million by 2060. The other scenarios keep fertility at current levels, but with differing levels of immigration, ranging from 15,000 to 25,000 new citizens being brought in per year. In all scenarios, the number of working-age citizens declines, while the median age climbs. The scenarios show that an immigration inflow of between 20,000 and 25,000 new citizens a year is needed to keep the citizen population size stable
  20. This is a serious question. Many people say that COE prices will drop in 3 to 5 years time. I know this is when many cars will reach their 10 years shelf life and be scraped. And it will free up more COE. So which means the COE quote will be higher. I know this for a fact but i dont understand. ___________________________________ Wouldnt the car owners who scraped their cars in 3 to 5 years time want to buy a replacement car? So what if there are more COE? There will be more car buyers too. Increased bidding will compensate for the increase in COE quota. Am i missing something here?
  21. Thought I'd give another discussion for this lazy Saturday. As above, in this age and time, we see that medical science has been able to lengthen the lives of the oldies (even those hopeless ones). Should the Living Will be MANDATORY? As we live our lives, we have decisions that we make consciously. Should the decision to not be resuscitated, ie, NO CODE, DNR also be a mandatory requirement? We are seeing more and more of the elderly, dementiated, senile ones becoming burdens to society. Some leave and are living, but are still burdens and nuisances to a certain extent. Should not ACTIVE Euthanasia be a requirement? I should have the power to decide what and when i should call it a day on my life? However, society can also decide which individuals can and should be acceded to that too? Do add, discuss as deems fit. For the record, I have signed my living will already, and DNR and No CODE documented!
