  1. Allo! Have been driving my red optra for exactly 3 mths since 3rd Feb 05. So far so good except a change in the throttle body that causes my vehcile to stall 2ice just after my 1st servicing.Good enough to pissed me off for this new baby. Noticed 2 probs lately 1) Small dots on the clear coat. Have noticed that the clear coat for the paint work on the canopy, the boot and bonnet of my chevy is seen with many tiny dots. I'm dead sure these are not water spot marks. These dots are not dirt. when closely scrutinized, seems lke small portion of my clear coat had been corroded. These spot is very evident under florecent light and not under sunlght. Tried polishing, waxing but nothing helps. The number have been increasing....starts from the boot then canopy now the bonnet! strangely , none found on the side of the body. Not sure if it is the case of the known "orange peel" syndrome. Noticed this during the 2nd moth of my drive. Getting worse...any one can advise or its it the paint prob? My colleagues have no such prob with their cars parked in the the work place. I wash regularly say, 2ice a week and yet this happens. Any one can advise? 2) chattering of the wiper Noticed that the wiper works well initially during downpour, as it continues to wipe, the strokes becomes terribly chattery and gives you the irritation that the rain is making my windscreen dryer to have such effect. Any one having this prob? Somehow, tested a few times, the chattering comes when the windscreen is wet, when dry no prob......strange reverse effect. is the wiper faulty? Btw, i did use a proper windscreen clearer with a seperate clean cloth. btw, the place i worked in is the place where all Aveo and Optra comes when discharged from vessel. So far i seen only one shipment of red last yr and no more. Guess who ever is getting a red optra must be having that very first batch since last yr Aug.
  2. hi, i juz bought my car...thought of changing my windscreen wiper bcoz it will 'juggle' when i use it in rainy days.... wat brand r there? recommended to change? max...
  3. Hi all Just like to find from all if any of you guys have tried Dura Edge Wiper Blades? Are they good in the sense that they don't cause judders? Heard that they are warranted for 5 years. Any problems we can get it changed. I'm thinking of getting it. Thanks!
  4. I've seen many brudders here mention that they bought the cheapo blue wiper wash fluid that is easily available in petrol stations... However, of the three Shell stations I've been to, only one is selling it... I wonder if I am going to the correct stations in the first place...
  5. Chevrolet Aveo/Aveo5 Passenger side: 16" or 400mm Driver side: 22" or 560mm Chevrolet Optra/Optra5 Passenger side: 19" or 480mm Driver side: 22" or 560mm Somebody fill in for Vivant.
  6. Morning everyone! Me just bought a bottle of Glastax Super Wiper Wash from Shell. Is that stuff any good? The instruction says to empty the entire content into the wiper fluid... Isn't that a bit too much?

  10. [/color]Just to conclude something started by Fireman last month dat will benefit all forumers... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Fireman] Re: How to stop windscreen wiper juttering? [in reply to] Edit Reply -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- dejavu man.... was only thinking of posting a thread like this to advice fellow forumers when I saw your thread... so I am replying without reading the whole thread... hope i don't repeat too much wat others have said... FOR THE RECORD... IT IS DEFINITELY RAIN-X DAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEMS... I have RAIN-X for a long time, Rain-X is a good product... but not good for front windscreens... apply it only for your windows, side mirrors and rear windscreen. This will help visibility a lot when it is raining. But do not apply on front windscreen it will cause your wiper to shudder in no time... and eventually your wiper linkage WILL GIVE WAY... (I just replaced mine on SAT...) due to the vibration and stress... TRust me... its got nothing to do wif your wiper blade... And, the only way to "cure" this permanently is to replace the whole windscreen... give u a hint... it'll help is your insurance covers windscreen...
  11. hi all, just wondering if it is safe to use used wiper blades (which u have replaced with new ones) to wipe away the excess water after a car wash? will it scratch the paintwork? thanks.
  12. Does anyone knows where to buy Silicone Wiper in Singapore, I only come across Malaysia, they have it but just can't find in popular shop in singapore like Autobac and McWell.
  13. Ok... here I go again... Anybody know?
  14. my wiper has been giving me problem since day 1. can't wipe smoothly, always very noisy when in use. Thought there's too much wax on my windscreen and also changed afew wipers already. Until now the noise still stays. Lately my colleague told me he think the problem could be with one the the base. Seems abit bent, resulting in the wiper not firmly sitting onto the windscreen. Guess I need to go around carparks to search for same model starlets to verify if this is true
  15. I thought that the size of the two wipers on my car windscreen is the same until I measured them and found out that one is 20" long while the other 19". Is it a fact then that the length of our windscreen wipers are not the same? This is my first ride, hence the question. TIA.
  16. The results are very good. Isopropanol improves the wetting properties of the washer fluid. Final concentration is 10% in DI water. The original cheapo formulation is actually 9 cups water to 1 cup isopropanol plus 1 TBS of dishwashing liquid. I didn't use the dishwashing liquid for fear of it drying up along the lines. This works out to be roughly 2.5L if you take into consideration 1 cup = 250mL. I think the rationale is this. Isopropanol is a more "organic" alcohol compared with ethanol so grease and grime tends to dissolve in it. Moreover, ethanol is more expensive than isopropanol. Isopropanol is also not as volatile as ethanol so once diluted with water, it tends to stay in the solution rather than evaporate away. It is easy for me to get this because I work in a lab but you can get isopropanol from the pharmacy. It comes as rubbing alcohol. DI water is deionized water. Actually I used RO water which was easily available to me. Isopropanol is also known as isopropyl alcohol.
  17. My windscreen wiper will jerk or shudder when it sweeps across the windscreen even though it is wet or with water. Anyone have any solution to this problem or resolve the jerking problem, do let me know ASAP, thanks!
  18. Bought this for less than $10 and applied to my aging and hardened wipers, seems to work well, less cahtterand blades have softened up.

  20. Have any of you Fabia owners notice that only your right wiper blade has a wiper fin (spoiler like) attached to it? I checked with CA and they say it comes like that. Anyone knows why? Just curious.
  21. Anyone know how to get rid of wiper judder?? Agent workshop claimed they have changed new wiper blades and polished the windscreen (how they do this har??). But the damn problem still exists! Any tips on how to solve this j-j-j-juddering??
  22. Hi, Met you at servo a while back and you were saying your rear wiper was damaged. Got hold of 1 piece for you already. Please let me know when you would like to collect it. Cheers! Shawn
  23. Hi all, Need some recommendation as to price and place to have a rear wiper installed. My ride is a Sunny 1.5A. Anyone has something similar installed? Is it useful?
  24. Hi everyone, just like to find out whether anyone has replaced their rear windscreen wiper at the back of a mini hatchback before. I am driving a Toyota Echo HB and my rear windscreen wiper blade is worn out. Went to Autobacs to look for a replacement but one of the mechanics told me that I had to replace the whole thing, including the wiper arm bcos it has a special catch or something like that!!! Hope someone out there can enlighten me on their past experiences bcos I find it really outrageous to replace the whole thing.
