I'm getting a new mazda 323 in a week or 2 and would like to see how I can upgrade my car audio. I definitely need a MP3 player and would like to see how I can make the speaker system better with my limited budget. The mazda comes stock with a Kenwood HU with a 10 disc CD Changer in the trunk. The mazda audio contractor has offered the kenwood 7020 for $400 with a $100 trade in. But I shopped around and liked the 838 which they don't have, but they suggested the 828 instead, which seems too expensive for the budget. What can I do.. how good are the HU if I don't get an amp? I can probably spend another $200-$500 for the speaker/amp system. Question is, do I need an additional amp with the HU I'm getting? I don't need to blast music, just good sound (ok.. relatively). Given that I can only either upgrade speaker OR get an amp, what should I get? Pardon me... I'm an ICE newbie...

I often see these cars (mostly Civics) with these larger red/blue/white/black lug nuts. They seem to be so protruding, I think they cause wind resistance What's up with that?

Anyone has any experience with Espace workshop, say for servicing or bodywork? Will be bringing my Toledo down next week to see whether my rear bumper can be cut to accomodate my exhaust. Any other recommendations for workshops that do good bodywork ? I understand that there is a mondeo that had his rear customised?

Lemme reason again, a stock paper filter flows just shy of a new K&N but with better filtration. So over time the K&N and paper will become restricted right? Just change the stock one every year lor! Here's the economics of my reason: Stock: $19 each K&N: $85 (cheapest, I got mine for $120 ) Changing every year means the total cost for the 10yr COE period will be $190 for using stock filter. That's about double over 10yrs which is nothing compared to all the crap we have to pay for our cars. Using a K&N have risks of contaminating the MAF sensor and letting more dust particles through the filter. Sure I've used a K&N when I was green to the car scene, now I'm using stock paper filter and car drives just as well. To prove my point, my 0-100km/h on Gtech does not differ much with K&N or stock filter, just about 0.2secs diff and both type of filters are used (not brand new).

I received a letter from LTA instructing me to present my car for inspection at Sin Ming Drive. Reason: A report has been filed against my car for having windscreen washers with blue light. Took out the wiring yesterday. Drove all the way to Sin Ming and showed them my car this afternoon. Satisfied them there's no blue light. They let me go. Bloody hell... wasted $45 installing the blue lights.... The inspector told me the blue lights are illegal as they would distract other drivers. Another example of ridiculous LTA rules. Sigh.......
