  2. From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg..._ambulance.html Posted on 27 Jun 2012 Woman strips naked after hitting cyclists and prevents ambulance from leaving A woman knocked down a mother and daughter in Shandong province last Sunday (June 17). When the ambulance arrived, the female driver stripped naked and and laid down on the road to block the paramedics from sending the victims to the hospital. The daughter was pronounced dead at the hospital while the mother was left in a critical condition. The driver, Mrs Zhang, was said to be a lecturer at a local junior medical college, specialising in Traditional Chinese medicine and used to teach anatomy and psychiatry. Ironically, witnesses talked about how emotionally unstable she was before and more so after the accident, being rough to her own injured mother who was in the car with her at the time. 5. http://www.digitalone.com.sg/news/article/19538 Scam at Sim Lim Square: Woman charged $1,230 for iPhone 4 The salesperson made her signed a letter of agreement that she didn't understand. DigitalOne | 22-06-12 18 comments A customer has come forward with complaints that they were overcharged for an iPhone 4. According to a report in Stomp, a salesperson at one store refused to hand over a newly purchased iPhone 4 unless $610 more was paid, on top of the agreed price of $620 for the phone. The amount, according to the Stomp contributor who wrote it, was for the warranty, activation service, an iPhone case and a screen protector. Apple Inc sells the unlocked iPhone 4 on its website for $788. According to the contributor who called himself Robin, the shop in question is Cyber Maestro at #02-77. A photo of the offending shop was also submitted to Stomp. Robin told Stomp that a friend from China went to the shop to buy an iPhone. But a salesperson recommended her to get a Sony Ericsson phone at about $600, which he felt was overpriced. Still, the friend took up the offer. On June 19, the friend brought another friend to the same shop during the late afternoon, ostensibly to buy an iPhone as well. Robin wrote: "They were then served by another salesperson and managed to come to an agreed price of $620 for an iPhone 4. "It wasn't not even an iPhone 4s. "After making payment for the phone itself, they agreed to allow the salesperson to activate the iPhone for them and to change it to a global warranty. "They then had to sign a Letter of Agreement (LOA) in English which they do not understand, the salesperson clarified that it was for the warranty and requested them to be back half an hour later. "When they returned, they were told to pay another $610 for the activation service that was not mentioned to them beforehand and they thought that it was supposed to be free of charge. "I arrived at the shop to question the salesperson. He then showed me the LOA which my friends had indeed signed earlier. "They refused to hand the iPhone over to my friend unless she paid the extra $610. "We refused and thus called the police, they could only do some recording and then refer it to Case. "The police officer did mentioned to me that this shop is quite infamous and this signing of the LOA is a new trick. "We did not manage to get the iPhone. "I would like to warn everyone about this shop and we should all avoid going there. Complaint kiosk from July 1 Still, the management of Sim Lim Square is trying to clean up its image. The mall will set up a complaint kiosk at the mall's information counter on the first floor. From July 1, people can use the computers at the counter and make a complaint directly to Case and they will take action within three days. The complaint kiosk, according to a Straits Times report, is a collaboration between Case and Sim Lim Square management. The kiosk is the first of its kind that will be reviewed after three months to judge its success, said the report. If successful, similar kiosks will pop up across the island. Case will encourage malls to install the kiosks and will help train staff to use the system.
  6. S'porean woman marries dying hubby in hospital Tuesday, Jun 19, 2012 The New Paper By Maureen Koh They registered their marriage 13 years ago, but this couple never had the chance to have a traditional wedding. But as the gravely ill man lay in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the National University Hospital (NUH), deejays from Radio 1003, Singapore Press Holding's Chinese language station, swung into action, and made their wish come true two weeks ago. The radio station's programme director Carine Ang said: "It was such a touching moment... everyone present was moved to tears." It started with an SMS sent to the radio station by Madam Chua Mui Mui in April, wishing her husband a happy wedding anniversary. Madam Chua, 37, also revealed that her husband, Mr Tay Guan Yeow, 44, had felt bad all these years for not giving her the wedding of her dreams. After her message was read out on air, listeners called in with offers to help the couple have their wedding pictures taken. At the time, no one knew that the childless couple - who sell roasted meats at an industrial area in the western part of Singapore - were going through a harrowing situation. Mr Tay was suffering from kidney failure. He had been diagnosed just two years after they registered their marriage, in 1999, when she was 24 and he was 31. Battling his illness, they had put off the traditional dinner and wedding photos. Until Madam Chua's heartfelt message to the radio station. Offers of kindness The offers poured in. But the couple initially hesitated. Madam Chua, explains: "We were a little worried, and then because we had delayed responding to the offers, we didn't think more about it." Then, on June 5, Mr Tay's condition worsened and he was rushed to NUH. Doctors told Madam Chua that he might not pull through. It prompted her to send another SMS to the radio station's hotline. In the message, she asked: "If we want to take wedding photos, would it be too late? My husband has just been admitted to ICU." Ms Ang said the minute their duty deejay received the message, everyone was galvanised into action. She says: "Our hearts dropped. We wanted to do something for the couple, especially because we knew that Mr Tay was a loyal 1003 supporter. "We wanted to do whatever we could to make their wish come true." By 8pm, the team, which included deejay Tan Yan Wei and Ms Ang, had secured a rent-free gown from My Wedding Affair and complimentary photography. A nurse helped take Madam Chua's measurements so that they'd get the right gown size, and the team rushed down to the hospital. There was hardly a dry eye in the ICU when the bride walked in, resplendent in her gown. As she bent over over her husband, Madam Chua asked him: "Am I pretty? Are you happy?" Tears flowed freely as Mr Tay said yes, and handed a bouquet of flowers to his wife. 'I will live for him' Ms Ang said that those who witnessed the simple ceremony included Mr Tay's family members and Madam Chua's two younger sisters. After the ceremony, the groom told everyone: "I'm sorry that we don't have anything to give you." "But if I am discharged, I will definitely bring snacks and roast meats to the radio station." Madam Chua says she believes her husband, who had his left leg and right toes amputated earlier this year, is hanging on for her. She admits that some friends and family members have asked her why she stayed on with her sick husband, whom they view as a yoke around her neck. She says: "I don't get it, how can he be a burden to me? We exchanged vows and there's this line, 'In sickness and in health'. "How can we forget this line? It's never occurred to me that I should abandon him." In a recording that Mr Tay did for the radio station, he said: "This whole life, I loved only Chua Mei Mei. (There will be) no other choices and no regrets. I will love her forever and ever. "Whether it's in life or in death, I will also miss her. Even though I will leave first, I want her to go on living and carry on with her life." To which, Madam Chua says: "Some people have asked me what are my plans for the future. "I don't know. I've not thought about it. Just as my husband is keeping strong for me, I will do the same for him. "I will live for him." This article was first published in The New Paper.
  7. The woman behind the downfall of two home team chiefs may have been exposed. The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) is currenly investigating the former chiefs of the Singaporea Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) for having an intimate relationship with a female IT procurement executive. Netizens may have finally exposed this mystery woman, in a photo circulating on the internet. The woman, named as Cecilia, appears to fit the description of the mystery woman, who was reported to be 36-year-old, tall, slim, vivacious, and with shoulder length hair. The woman in the photo is also indicated as "Formerly from Hitachi and IBM, and now with Oracle". While this appears to fit her profile as an IT executive, Oracle Singapore is one of the companies that had clarified in late January that none of its employees are involved in this case. There is no other information provided on the depicted woman and it remains to be confirmed whether she is indeed the mystery woman in the case involving the home team chiefs. http://staticc01.insing.com/images/c1/76/0.../pc_600x450.jpg From my reliable source, this cecilia indeed working in Oracle.
  8. Despite what the cabby might have said or done, her FB's unwarranted comments on this taxi driver was really hitting below the belt and downright insulting.. [shakehead] From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg..._a_failure.html Posted on 13 Jun 2012 Woman calls cabbies a failure and tells them: 'Know your place in society' STOMPer Fran said her friend came across these posts on Facebook, in which a woman rants about a taxi driver, and how he should know his place in society. The STOMPer's friend felt that this woman should not be so rude to the cabby. Said the STOMPer: "My friend spotted this on Facebook and sent it to me. "She said,' Who is she to call the cabby a failure when he is the one doing a service to her? It does not matter whether the cabby actually 'talked back' to her, she shouldn't be so rude to him. Moreover, she had to say he lacked education and skill. Well, at least he has a decent job to support his family'."
  9. SINGAPORE: Police arrested a 25-year-old woman who is believed to have painted "MY GRANDFATHER ROAD" on several roads in Singapore. 10. Illegal parking on double-yellow line still can argue wan meh? And mata also kena called in? From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...eign_woman.html Posted on 28 May 2012 Foreign woman goes berserk after she's fined for illegal parking STOMPer Supernovi says this foreign woman kicked up a big fuss after being issued a fine for parking illegally along a double yellow line at Bukit Timah. The police eventually had to be called in to resolve the matter. Says the STOMPer: "My friends and I were at Bukit Timah Plaza and we came upon a Chinese National woman getting booked for a parking offence along a double yellow line. "Apparently, she insisted that the enforcement officer allow her a grace period but when she came back, she received a ticket. "Question: Which enforcement officer will allow anyone any grace period for parking along a double yellow line? "Clearly she was in the wrong and she created such a big fuss that her own kid was crying. Afterwards, when the traffic enforcement officers were about to leave the scene on their bike, the kid allegedly blocked their way and caused them to nearly fall. "The officers had no choice but to disembark and call the police. "The police came later and she kept on complaining that she was still right and we were like 50 metres away and we still could hear the commotion. "After a good 20 minutes, they all left the scene. "The woman should have known better, why create such a big fuss when you are in the wrong in the first place? Please adhere to the laws of Singapore, even though it may be just a parking summon. "Irony of the story, one of the enforcement officers is also a Chinese National."
  11. Hopefully the family don't sue SCDF SINGAPORE - An American hotel guest at the Swissotel The Stamford died from a fall from a height of at least 60 storeys in the wee hours of the morning on Sunday. The 40-year-old, whose identity is withheld by the hotel to respect her family's privacy, landed on an inaccessible metal parapet three storeys from the ground level, said The Straits Times (ST). On Sunday at about 4.10am, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received a call for assistance at Raffles City along Stamford Road. The woman was found by paramedics to have suffered multiple injuries. According to ST, the woman was thought unlikely to survive the impact of her fall, which delivered a 'severe blunt force trauma', damaging also the parapet. When they got to the scene, they could not reach her where she landed on the parapet near the 24-hour Starbucks coffee joint at Raffles City. They had to access a staircase to get to her and retrieve her body using safety harnesses and rescue lines. As they approached her, parts of the parapet gave way and her body fell to the ground, landing outside Starbucks. No customers or employees were standing outside, at the spot where the body landed, at the time. Police are still investigating and have classified the case as an unnatural death. A hotel spokesman said the hotel extended its deepest condolences to her family and friends. It is also helping the police with investigations. The Swissotel The Stamford is the tallest hotel here at 73 stories and one of South-east Asia's tallest. Business as usual Starbucks said the woman's fall had damaged the roof of its outdoor seating area and caused water leakage. However, it is business as usual for the cafe, although the outdoor area is currently closed for repairs. A Raffles City spokesman told ST that retail operations were as usual at the mall.

Witnesses told Shin Min that there were not many people around at the time of 5.25am as she chased the four men, ignoring by-standers. Her friends were also running after her. When the woman reached the men, they became violent towards her by pushing her to the ground and kicking and punching her, according to witnesses. She fought back and tried to stand up, using her hands to block her face. Only when witnesses shouted that the police were coming was when they stopped. 15. The peace in Toa Payoh on Sunday afternoon was broken when a man and woman started shouting at each other, and then began pummelling each other with blows. According to a report in The New Paper, the pair looked to be in their 20s and seemed to know each other. The woman had tried to walk away from the fight, but the man pulled her back to punch her in the face as she crossed the carpark at Block 190, Toa Payoh Lorong 6. The fight lasted five minutes and ended with the man grabbing the woman around her neck and pulling her to Toa Payoh MRT Station, where they disappeared into the crowd. A passerby observed the woman was crying as she was hit. She did not counter-attack, he said. A pair of sunglasses was also left behind at the scene of the fight. Police confirmed their received a call about the incident but when they arrived, the pair had already left. Said STOMPer Archie, who read about the incident: "I'm horrified that such an incident happened in broad daylight right in my neighbourhood. "I wonder what sparked off the fight and if the pair are married, dating, or mortal enemies. "Anyway, it's good (in a way) that they fought publicly. Better than if they fight at home and no one knows. "Now that there are witnesses and such, perhaps they can be identified and counselled before anything worse happens."
