  1. Hi bros, Does anyone know where I can find the Workshop Manual for EP80/82? I know Genie had posted the AE101 User's Manual under the Maintenance/Mod section, but I'm looking for more specific schematics and instructions. Like torque specs, part numbers, etc. I know some bros here are walking service manuals, but I would like a personal copy so that I don't need to call people up at 12 midnight! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  2. i orderd my tein coilovers last month, so as i wasn't getting any news, decided to call up the shop and asked them about its status. lo and behold, the boss told me that the basic coilovers are out of stock, and he ordered the super street version for me, and plus EDFC, which was not in the original order. so i was a bit caught off guard, and didn't know whether to or ? the boss said there will be a "recalculation" of the price... how much more can it jump from 1.8k? what would you do if a shop does this to you?
  3. Tried to do it on my own, realize quite difficult, Jazz a bit different from other cars, also dun have the right tools to do it.... Anyone knows what is the reasonable price to pay (Labour Cost) for workshop to change for you? Any recommended workshops?

  5. i was at sm motors workshop the other day and i observed that the guys there were using a car to jump start another car (i assumed that car had a dead battery but i did not find out more as i was busy and fuming). i thot an established workshop should have the kit/battary pack for jump starting cars with dead batteries. is this a malpractice? what is your opinion?
  6. Hi All, Does anybody know of any workshop in the west that will provide labour and oil filter for oil change? I will bring my own oil there. I usually go to the workshop at Balestier and they charge me about $20 for oil filter and labour. Was wondering if there are any that are nearer my workplace in the west side of Singapore.

  10. ST 21/4 N A reversal of an unpopular long-standing practice, NTUC Income will soon sell motor insurance that allows car owners to have repairs carried out at any motor workshop. This is part of a new strategy unveiled by Income's new chief executive, Mr Tan Suee Chieh - installed in February - to regain its prized No. 1 motor insurance position in Singapore. Income is rolling out two new products next month - including one that allows repairs to be done at any workshop, for about 25 per cent more in premiums. The strategy is a marked departure from the approach taken by former Income boss Tan Kin Lian, who had insisted that policyholders should have repairs carried out only at workshops approved by Income. This was introduced in 2002 to cut inflated motor claims - which it did. But Income paid a price as market share fell because many car drivers prefer to have repairs done at non-Income authorised workshops. Income also faced difficulty penetrating the new car market as distributors of new cars insisted that repairs be carried out at their own workshops. In May last year, Income relaxed the practice by allowing policyholders to have repairs done at distributors' workshops, if they paid a higher premium. This option was meant for cars less than three years old and still under the manufacturer's warranty. But Income managed to insure only 12,000 or about 10 per cent of the 117,000 new cars here last year. It is now in talks with two car distributors regarding possible tie-ups. Next month, Income customers will be able to choose between two plans. The 'drivo Premium' plan will allow car repairs at any workshop while the 'drivo Classic' plan will require repairs to be conducted at Income's authorised workshops. 'Classic' plan premiums will be maintained at current rates - about 20 per cent below the published rate for most customers. The 'Premium' rates will be industry competitive and will be priced 25 per cent above those for the 'Classic' plan, Income said. At a press conference yesterday, Mr Tan said Income's market position has been challenged by intense price competition, under-representation in the new car market and lost intermediary business. But the new boss ruled out engaging in a price war as a means of regaining market share - arguing that stability in premium rates is the best way to go. Income's two new motor plans mean customers will have more options while loyal policyholders who want to continue having repairs done at Income's workshops are assured of affordable premium rates. Mr Tan hopes to raise gross motor premiums to $220 million for this year, up from $165.4 million last year. If the target is achieved, it would translate into a potential market share of 30 per cent. The firm's market share slipped to 24 per cent last year, compared with 30 per cent in 2005 and 37 per cent in 2004. Current top motor insurer AIG's market share was only slightly higher than Income's, at 24.8 per cent last year. Over the next 12 months, Mr Tan expects 15 per cent to 20 per cent of motor premiums to be generated by 'drivo Premium' plans. Last year, Income's motor underwriting profit was $5.1 million, less than half of the $10.9 million posted in 2005. Its gross motor premiums also fell, from $206.5 million in 2005 and $255.3 million in 2004. As part of its motor strategy, Income will be working with car distributors and intermediaries such as external and in-house agents, and stepping up its marketing efforts. Under the new plans, annual premiums for a new two-litre Toyota Camry will come to $1,600 under the 'Premium' plan and $1,281 under the 'Classic'. The rates are based on the assumption that the policyholder is a 35-year-old new driver.
  11. Hi all, I just got my first set of 4 wheels, a Civic ESi and i am looking for a reliable workshops to service my car.Preferably in the east area As i am riding a bike all the time, i may know most of the bike repair shops but i am a noob when it comes to places to service my car. I've seen some workshops with tuned cars near paya ubi area, and some near eunos industrial park. And I've also seen some at AMK autopoint. 12. Hi there, due to budget and practicality, we are not planning to change car in the near future. And to keep the new car feeling, we are planning to give the car a new paint job next year. Also, car resale value will drop if color is not original, what is the percentage of the lost? And the subject question is, any recommendation for those high grade/quality workshop for re-spraying conti cars? Thank you in advance, Vincent
  13. My 2 back tyres, (even though i pumped them up at the same time and at the same pressure), after a while, 1 tyre will appear more deflated as compared to the other. Also, whenever i pump, i will always encounter the situation where i will need a longer time to pump up the "problematic" tyre. Somehow when i pump the problematic tyre, i will encounter "error reading" on the pump station air pump gauge. I have no problems with the other 3 tyres though. As such, i suspect there could be a small puncture which i cannot see . Hence, i am thinking of going to a tyre workshop to fix up my tyre problem... is there any tyre shop that you would recommend in AMK Auto point building? thanks
  14. My bro's CRV had a minor accident and now the radiator is leaking . Look for a good worksop to repaird the radiator and how much will it cost??? Thanks

  16. Is there any 'outside' workshop specialising in Rover 75? Apparently, my friend was quote several thousand dollars for his Rover 75's 80,0000km servicing by the agent. Anyway, this is an expensive car to maintain, to begin with.

  18. My friend's 1990 German made continental car could not start yesterday morning. When he got it towed to the authorised distributor's workshop, he was told that he had to leave his car there and wait at least 2 weeks for the spare parts to arrive from Germany What is the point of paying a premium to purchase from an authorised distributor then?
  19. Hi, can someone please recommnend me a workshop which specializes in windscreen work. 2 months ago, I sent my car for repaint but after that a problem arised. Everything was alright at speed below 80kmm/h but a high-pitch whistling sound could be heard at speed above 90km/h. I strongly believe that it is due to the presence of small gap between the windscreen edge and the seal. The staffs from the repainting workshop have tried to apply some sealant and it solved the problem for a short period of time. The problem resurfaced again a few weeks later. Can someone please advise a good workshop in Bukit Panjang/CCK area and how much would such work typically cost? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  23. Anyone realised that almost all PIs in the market now uses the same company/workshop MTB (or is it MBT?) as their workshop for repair under warranty?? I went to a few PIs, they all showed me the same brochure/warranty booklet for the different cars...anyone has experience with this workshop? How good in terms of facilities/stocking of parts are they?? What's their background??
  24. I was told that NTUC has this Comprehensive policy that allows drivers to go back to Distributor workshop for repairs. Unlike in the past, drivers are limited to their authorised workshop for repairs. Anyone has any experiences with this policy?
  25. when we leave the car at the workshop for 2/3 days for repair, what liability do the workshop cover ? 1. the mech take the car for a sprint and crash ? 2. the mech take the car for a nightout and rev till cows come home ? 3. the mech smoke and dirty the car interior ? seems like end user is left with no choice and leave everything to the workshop how they want to handle your car. the only think i did was record the milleage when i leave the car at the workshop. anyway, they can debate that they need to do a few runs to test and tune the car as part of the repair work. thanks
