  1. hey guys check what Catherine lim has written Below is a article, written 8 May by well-known Singaporean author Catherine Lim, on her reaction following the recent GE 2011. This was forwarded to the ST Forum which requires her to make major amendments before publication. In response she has decided to post it in her blog site instead. GE 2011--Catherine Lim For 17 years, since 1994, I had been writing commentaries on various issues in the Singapore political scene. Whether these were long-standing problems such as the emotional divide between the PAP leadership and the people, or specific issues such as the controversial increase in ministerial salaries, the articles invariably identified the underlying cause as the unrelenting authoritarianism of the PAP government, with all that this implies of stern, punitive measures used by the leaders, and of timid compliance shown by the led. Even as I made a plea for a political opening up, I could not shake off the pessimism that the PAP
  2. along maude road $50 FINE, KNNBCCB i dont understand, is he hard up to meet his quota? im parked nicely in the lot, displayed my coupons, and im not causing any obstruction. WHY THE FCUKER MUST SAMAN ME FOR THAT? just a stone throw away, along king george road, many car parking illegally causing obstruction, cause other vehicle to drive in opposite direction, why he dont go saman them but come disturb us park nicely in the lot? why the chao chee bye is so chao chee bye?? I not the only one kena, many others too. anyone appeal before? success? those who want to tell me "just follow the rules", "shut up and pay up", dont even post here and waste bandwidth.
  3. Please kindly feel free to s c r e w ed me with your opinion 1. Why we assume that the ruling party has the right formula and Singapore is successful provide the OPPOSITION DOES NOT GET IN? WHY DOESNT IT OCCUR TO US THAT IF OPPOSITION HAD GOTTEN INTO PARLIAMENT EARLIER, SINGAPORE MAY EVEN BE MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN IT IS NOW. 2. Is it right for TPL (I dont know what to say) to get into parliament automatically without a fair fight to proven her self worth while there is a HIGH CHANCE THAT HONORABLE CITIZENS LIKE DR ANG YG, LOW TK, CSM, VW, NICOLE SEAH CANNOT GET IN? 3. Why the noise about george yeo, when the ruling party gambled using HIM in the GRC to calculate their chance of winning? If he loose, we cannot blame the opposition party as the people have spoken? 4. CST - he is a living national hero, who sacrifice and fight for us Singaporeans, why should we allow him to win? Singaporeans have already given MM face by giving him a walkover, CST on the other hand, similarly like JBJ can be called among the founder of the opposition party, shouldnt we allow him to be in parliament as a symbol of democracy. How unfair, we have army general who kee cheiw and TPL who i dont what to say into parliament? Who do we respect and think who carry weight? 5. Why question about people's qualification by MM? MY criteria - is the will and heart to serve the people of Singapore. 6. If the ruling party is so popular, why is it that they have to organise tours from RC to their rally site? In other countries this act alone is wrong. Please add if you think there are valid questions?
  4. Excellent points that are obvious but should be repeated over and over again to the those who are daft until they stick. One thing really stands out - Mr Mah apparently does not like the fact that public housing policy is stack in favor of Singaporeans? === A wrong sense of housing affordability: NSP's Goh by Tan Weizhen 01:25 AM Apr 26, 2011 SINGAPORE - Paying nothing as a deposit for a new flat or covering monthly mortgages with Central Provident Fund contributions do not mean public housing is affordable, the National Solidarity Party said yesterday. At current housing prices, buyers will have to service their loans for the next 30 years, which will wipe out the CPF accounts of many buyers, leaving them with little for retirement, NSP secretary-general Goh Meng Seng said in response to recent comments by National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan. Mr Mah had said on Sunday that eight in 10 couples who buy new flats use only a quarter or less of their salaries to service their home loans, because they use their CPF. Combined with housing grants, a couple earning $4,000 could get a flat with "zero deposit", he had also said. But Mr Goh said many young people he has met on the ground cannot afford flats, even with a 30-year mortgage: "A 30-year mortgage isn't affordable. It would mean that all the youngsters now, in 30 years' time, wouldn't be able to retire; CPF would be zero. So what gives? Our future generation will suffer. "To say that - not forking out cash for deposit - is a myth. It has created a wrong sense of affordability." His NSP team distributed flyers at the Tampines MRT Station last night. The NSP is contesting Tampines Group Representation Constituency, where Mr Mah is the People's Action Party anchor minister. Mr Goh also defended his proposal that permanent residents should have a longer minimum occupation period for HDB flats: Eight years, compared to five for Singaporeans. Mr Mah had rejected that proposal as housing policy was already "stacked in favour" of Singaporeans. Mr Goh responded by saying there should be a mindset change with regard to PRs: "Whoever we want to attract, we should have the motive to make sure these PRs will become our citizens. We don't want (PRs of) a migrant nature." He believes that raising the criteria to eight years will elicit more commitment from PRs, as a flat will then become a home to them and "the natural path is to become a citizen". As for local issues NSP will campaign on, Mr Goh said Tampines has a number of problems, including an ageing population, lack of car park spaces and poor estate maintenance. Some ageing HDB blocks have leaking roofs and peeling paint, he said. His proposals include a community hospital to serve the elderly in Tampines, Simei and Pasir Ris-Punggol.
  5. Looks like panic setting in.... http://www.straitstimes.com/GeneralElectio...ory_660601.html Funny, I don't remember him ever apologising for the fiasco. He did not even stand corrected. And what's this about taking responsibility for it? What actions did he undertake in the name of taking responsibility?
  6. From 2001-Dec'2009,I stay in Simei (East Coast GRC) than from Jan'2010-Dec'2010 shifted to Upper Changi road (Marine Parade GRC) and from Jan'2011 till now shifted back to Simei again.Check details from www.elections.gov.sg and find out that I will be voting for Marine parade GRC!!!!IMO, I thought that we are supposed to vote for the party who we think will help/benefits us for the next 5 years so why the fxxk I'm voting for Marine Parade???This point is enough for me to put the cross in the opps Box!!!!
  7. Hi all, Last year 2 days before chinese new year, i was rear end by a fit/jazz. Damage was really bad and i, therefore decided to claim against the driver that rear end me. Today, i received a call that the other party insurance propose to pay only 90% of the damage and injury. I ask my lawyer and they advise me to accept the offer. if i decide not to take the offer, i will ask to go to trial and if my luck is not that good, the judge will reduce it to 80% or less. and if that happened. i will have to pay both parties legal fees. after hearing the fees amount, i told the lawyer that i accept it. Now, my question is, if the workshop have decided to accept the 90% damage, will he go after me for the 10%?

  12. Well it must be painful for the deceased family came to know that they had been offering to another dead person all these years........ [bigcry] According to newspaper report, this happened to Comfort Delgro CEO [sweatdrop] http://www.asiaone.com/News/The%2BNew%2BPa...224-265115.html When i read through the news, found out that NEA explanation a bit kuku. Minor soil movement probably will happened, but should the position of coffin already moved to the neighbor, guess the whole grave would have been totally destroyed, which equivalent to an event of earthquake. For god sake, the coffin only 6 feets under ground....... In geological sense, 6 feets is not even consider a distant at all.......... NEA should consult soil engineering expert before making such kuku comment. Should soil can move so easily, Jurong Cavern will one day become Changi Cavern liao.................................................. <_<

  14. Jan 27, 2011 Man fined for saying he was a terrorist at MRT By Elena Chong Kevin Teo Kok Leong alias Muhammad Riduan Teo, 33, was fined $1,000 for saying that he was a terrorist at Dhoby Ghaut MRT Interchange. -- ST FILE PHOTO A MAN who caused alarm to an SMRT customer service officer by saying that he was a terrorist, was fined $1,000 on Thursday. Kevin Teo Kok Leong alias Muhammad Riduan Teo, 33, a mechanic, admitted to using threatening words at Mr Suasni Samuri, 43, at Dhoby Ghaut MRT Interchange on Nov 26, 2010. A Community Court heard that Mr Suasni was on duty when he saw Teo entering the train platform without tapping his ez-Link card. Mr Suasni gave chase and managed to stop Teo, who refused to hand over his ez-Link card to be checked. While Mr Suasni was trying to solicit information from Teo, Teo said: 'You know who I am, I am a terrorist, you know.' Teo repeated the words when asked what he had said earlier. He could have been fined up to $5,000 for the offence. Food can anyhow eat, word cannot anyhow say.

  20. Think again!!! A TEACHER with the Singapore American School (SAS), who was just half a year from retirement, died in an accident along Woodlands Avenue 2 while on the way to work early yesterday. The car driven by Mr Edd Brown, 65, hit the rear of a bus, which was understood to have been on the move. He died at the scene from head and leg injuries. A police spokesman confirmed that the police received a call at 6.30am about the crash. The driver of the bus has been arrested and is assisting with police investigations. Mr Brown, a father of two grown-up sons and already a grandfather, was an information technology (IT) teacher in the primary section of the SAS. He taught children in grades 1 and 2 and also kindergarten children, besides working with teachers on incorporating IT into their teaching. One of the school's longest-serving teachers, he joined SAS in 1995. That was the year he and his wife Pat came here from Saudi Arabia, where they had been working.

  24. I just wonder if SG MRT stations are haunted or something. We need to build doors in order to prevent people from falling onto the tracks... By contrast, the wrold biggest New York Subway (by number of stations) don't even have any doors for their platforms. Furthermore, you can see their yellow line is right the width of 2 tiles right the at edge. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:De..._Shankbone.jpg So something wrong with the design of ours stations or something wrong with our people or what? Maybe people cannot see the yellow line because its too narrow?
  25. Hi, would like to seek clarification if this is true. was told that LTA will fine $200 and deduce 6 points regardless you are right or wrong as long you are involved in an accident, it will be imposed... 1 mth back, i was involved in a taxi accident whereby i was hit by a taxi at the rear while waiting for the opposite traffic to clear before i could make a right turn to the carpark. Ambulance and TP were involved.. I yet to receive any such letter from them but was rather disgusted to hear there's actually such onerous crap around.. i don't understand, being the victim yet must being penalized..
