  1. It's been a hectic 2017 , some had enjoyed much , some wished 2018 the new year would be better ! A short trip is indeed a refreshment to perk up your drive for the many days ahead. Hong Kong , a bustling city of people , culture , modernization with an intense blend of the old . A walk down the streets of Hong Kong is never dull albeit the old houses . Enjoy the walk of life through Hong Kong as I filmed the transition of Hong Kong from 2017 to it's new year 2018. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XETBVO7t48 Totally low powered after editing this film, which took 5 days of sightseeing and walking filming the scenes whenever I had the chance. As I took into my shock , I had more than 30 Gigabyte of 4K footage to edit and process. But it was pretty much satisfying to produce this short film as a remembrance for myself and my family to look back in the future. It is all memories. The new year also allows me to inject some spices into my old mediocre style of film production and I departed from my usual in this first 2018 new short film. Hope you ladies and gentlemen will enjoy !

Even if he was guilty of the alleged crime, death is too great a "punishment" for him and his parents. RIP. Wonder why police must go to the school and get him during classes. Probably too embarrassing for him.
  7. http://www.tremeritus.com/2014/03/05/ms-fu-20k-new-citizens-30k-prs-added-last-year/ Ms Fu: 20K new citizens, 30K PRs added last year March 5th, 2014 | Author: Editorial Ms Grace Fu In Parliament today (5 Mar), Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Grace Fu said that the government has embarked on a new “strategic direction” in its population policies to bring about a slower and more sustainable pace of population growth, as committed to in the Population White Paper. She said, “Our goal is that Singapore continues to be an endearing home and a good place for Singaporeans to live, work and play.” Ms Fu also told the House that Singapore’s population grew by “just” 1.6% in 2013 last year, the slowest in 10 years and almost half the average rate of 3.1% from 2004 to 2012. 31,000 Singaporean babies were born last year resulting in a fertility rate of 1.19. The number of babies born is fewer than in 2012 but more than in 2011. Ms Fu also revealed that growth in the foreign workforce in the non-construction sector was halved from 7.1% to 3.5% last year in line with the government’s policy of tightening foreign manpower. This came about after several thousands of Singaporeans staged the biggest protest since Singapore’s independence, at Hong Lim Park on 16 Feb last year. It was staged against the 6.9 million Population White Paper passed by the PAP-dominated Parliament. Singaporeans were fed-up with the government’s “open door” policy which allowed too many foreigners to stay and work in Singapore, competing for resources with Singaporeans. Through births and immigration, Singapore citizen population grew by 0.9% to 3.31 million. Some 20,000 foreigners were also granted Singapore citizenship last year. “These (new citizens) were assessed to be to be able to contribute and integrate well into our society,” Ms Fu said. In addition, about 30,000 PR status were granted to foreigners last year to “mitigate the shrinking and ageing of our citizen population”, she added. Hoping to see more Singaporeans giving births, she urged aspiring parents to make time for things that matter, and not wait for the “perfect timing”. She said, “We, as family members, friends, employers and the community, will be there to encourage and support you every step of the way as you embark on this challenging but immensely fulfilling marriage and parenthood journey.”
  8. Hi guys, heard from an old friend that says new car once on the road already -20% liao. So i take it that he meant 20% depreciation in the first year. Maybe is this why people always say the first 2 to 3 years the first owner bears the brunt of the steep depreciation? Is this assumption near reality? 1st yr : 20% depreciation 2nd year: 10% dep 3rd year : 10% dep rest of the 7 years divide equally the remaining value.

Wats yours ?? Lets share ..... some costs are flexible like ERP Gantry charges 1999 Mazda 323 TarzanBoy ERP Gantries : S$6 per day x 5 days x 4 weeks x 12 months = S$1440.00 per year Car Road Tax : S$1400 per year Car Insurance : S$800 per year Instalments : S$8000 per year HDB Car Park charges : S$65 per month x 12 months = S$780 Fuel (JB petrol converted to SGP$$) : RM$60 per week x 4 weeks x 12 months = RM$2880.00 = S$1200.00 @ 31,000 km per year average Miscellaneous Carpark charges : S$300 per year Workshop / Repair / Maintenance charges : S$2000 per year (estimate) Thus as you can see ... added in total ... ownership costs falls easily within the S$15,920.00 Disclaimer : Insurance is at 50% NCD with staff discount. Here is the link: http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=490779&DL=2820 So does that mean we can also import a used AE86 in pristine condition from Japan ? Any brothers tried importing their own cars which is more than 3 years old ?

  21. A retiree not only snatched a gold necklace off a woman, he was able to escape from two much younger pursuers. But police managed to trace him through his mobile phone which led to his arrest. On Monday, Woon Yin Meng, 78, was fined a total of $5,000 for theft and causing hurt to Madam Tang Sweet Kun, reports The Straits Times. A community court heard that Woon was living with his son in the Maysprings condominium in Bukit Panjang. On April 21 last year, while returning to the apartment at 8am, he noticed Madam Tang, 76, who was carrying bags of groceries and had a gold necklace around her neck. Woon followed her and at the void deck along Ganges Road, he grabbed her neck with his left hand and ripped off the necklace with the other hand. He also pushed her forward, causing her to fall to the floor and bruising her forehead. Two passers-by, aged 46 and 52 years old, cornered him but he threatened them with a kitchen knife and fled into the condominium. They gave chase but lost sight of him. Woon, however, dropped his mobile phone while getting away. Police used it to establish his identity and arrested him five hours later. He also dropped the necklace and it was never recovered. Its value could not be determined. Asking the court to impose a fine, defence counsel Sankar Saminathan said that Woon was a gambling addict and had committed the offences after his son refused to give him money. He had received counselling at the Institute of Mental Health and has stopped gambling, the lawyer added. In passing sentence, District Judge Shaiffudin Saruwan said that he agreed with defence counsel that a jail term would not be appropriate and a high fine would suffice. The maximum penalty for theft is a three-year jail term and a $10,000 fine and for causing hurt is a two-year jail term and a $5,000 fine. The two charges for committing criminal intimidation by threatening the two bystanders with a knife were taken into consideration by the judge when passing sentence.
