  1. The current 10th generation Civic was officially unveiled on 17 September 2015, and after close to 5 years, the next gen is on the horizon. The spy shots below shown the 5 door Type R variant, which look more upright than the current gen even though it was wearing heavy cladding. More spy shots of the other variants can be expected to surface very soon. Stay tuned.

The company has turned its attention to the Civic Type R by bringing a pair of modified examples to the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon that runs from January 12 through 14. They feature updated body kits and some mild performance tuning. Mugen calls the two flavors of modified Civic Type R the Group A and Group B. For now, there's only a single image of each car, but a video offers some additional details about each trim. Mugen adds a more aggressive front splitter and gives the front corner inlets a sharper shape. There are revised side sills and a reshaped wing out back. While not visible in this photo, the back bumper also has some styling changes. In all, it looks like something Honda could come up with for a special edition Type R from the factory. The Group B kit goes much further. It has the same front splitter and side inlets as the Group A, but there's also a carbon-fiber hood with lots of vents and slits. The top of the front fenders have additional openings to vent air from the wheel wells, while broad side sills give the flanks a more muscular appearance. Out back you'll find a tall wing and a modified bumper. The flamboyantly designed pieces give the Civic Type R a more stereotypical "tuner car" look that evokes the modded Civics from the early 2000s. These kits are not purely about aesthetics. Mugen used computational fluid dynamics to tune the pieces to help the Civic Type R's aerodynamic performance. The upgrades aren't limited to looks, either. Mugen is also developing new performance parts for the Type R. New dampers and BBS-sourced forged 19-inch wheels are part of the package. The Group A gets a stainless steel exhaust and new brake pads. The Group B has titanium pipes in addition to new brake calipers and rotors. Inside, the tuned Civic Type Rs feature a new steering wheel with Mugen branding on the bottom, bucket seats, a new shift knob, and carbon-fiber trim on the center console. Mugen will announce pricing for these parts at the Tokyo Auto Salon. We should also get a better look at the cars to see how much the body kits alter the Type R's appearance.

An official teaser campaign from Honda began six months ago, featuring everything from auto show appearances to setting lap records, all with cars still wearing a camo wrap. Now, the wait is finally over and all is revealed. Well, except for a few minor details like power, performance, and price. Admittedly, those aren't minor details but Honda promises more information is coming soon. What we can share right now is that the newest Civic is the most powerful Type R ever. In fact, Honda says it's the fastest, most powerful Honda-branded vehicle ever offered for US buyers. The familiar turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder from the outgoing Type R still holds station under the hood, sending its power to the front wheels through a revised six-speed manual transmission. There is no sequential gearbox, no all-wheel drive, and no wild hybrid tech. In terms of powertrain, it's a proper old-school hot hatchback. As with the engine, Honda isn't ready to share details on the Civic Type R's underpinnings save for it being "enhanced." We do know the car is lower, longer, and wider than the previous model. It also wears a wider set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, all of which surely contributes to the new Type R setting a front-wheel-drive lap record at Suzuka. Visually speaking, we finally get a good look at the Type R's big rear wing in context with the car. It's not the only upgrade – the front clip is a bit more aggressive with a mesh grille and revised corner intakes. Subtle side sills are found on the fenders behind the front wheels that work with the intakes, enhancing airflow efficiency around the car. Type R wheels and tires neatly fill bulged fender flares, and to maintain the sporty look, the hot hatch has wider rear doors versus the standard Civic. A rounded rear fascia with a diffuser and the triple-exit exhaust completes the exterior makeover. Inside, of course there's red mixed with black. You'll find red on the aggressive sport seats, carpeting, badging, and contrast stitching. Black covers the rest, including the Civic's handsome dash which carries over from the standard model. A special +R driving mode adds some visual excitement to the driver display, and an onboard data logger offers real-time information on the car and how it's responding to the driver.

  8. hi everyone, posting here since i can't start a new thread yet. im a first time buyer looking to get a COE honda fit/civic or any other COE car which gets me from A to B. my question is, should i get a COE car which has been renewed for 5 years or 10 years? my friend has told me that if i get a 5 year one, at the end of the 5 years i will have to scrap the car which leaves me no value, so basically i'll waste the $$. however if i get a 10 year one, at the end of the 10 years i still can have the option of renewing the COE or selling it altogether. any advice? thanks!
  9. It was back in August when Acura confirmed the surprising return of the "Integra" moniker, but parent company Honda is actually the first to revive the fabled moniker for a production car. Meet the confusingly named 2022 Honda Integra, a Chinese compact sedan molded after the eleventh-generation Civic. Coming from the Guangqi Honda joint venture in the People's Republic, the Integra will be assembled in Guangzhou whereas the Civic upon which is based comes from the factory in Wuhan (yes, that Wuhan) belonging to the Dongfeng Honda joint venture. The two flavors are largely identical, but the new Acura version does look sleeker courtesy of its slimmer matrix LED headlights flanking a slightly larger grille with a honeycomb pattern. The changes continue at the back where the LED taillights adopt a sharper look and occupy less space on the tailgate. Dual exhaust tips and a subtle trunk lid spoiler contribute to the Honda Integra's youthful appearance, as does the faux diffuser bisected by the built-in fog light. Fresh colors like Emerald Blue and Fiery Yellow separate it from the regular Civic, and there are new wheel designs up to 18 inches in size. There are no interior images at the moment of writing, but we're expecting the cabin to be essentially carried over from the Civic. The engines are also a mystery for now, although the "240 Turbo" badge on the trunk lid indicates the car has 240 Nm (177 lb-ft), which is exactly what the 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine develops in the Civic where it sends 180 hp to the front wheels via a CVT. The CN-spec Integra gets a six-speed manual, much like the Civic Hatchback.
  10. bros, i'm driving a FD4, when ever the revs are between 1.6 to 2K i will have a metal grinding sound coming from the car. anything above or below that, no problem. sound is audible in the cabin. so i guess it is quite loud. any one encounter this?
  11. The next-gen hot hatch will still stand out in a crowd. The last couple of days have been busy in the Civic Type R world. Honda shared some "spy" photos, and then we caught video of the car in action sporting a single janky exhaust pipe. Not to fear, hot Honda fans – that pipe was just for testing purposes. A new round of decidedly unofficial Type R spy shots feature another red-wrapped prototype with all its production components, including the triple exhaust finishers out the back. Whereas Honda offered up just a pair of photos, our spy photographer grabbed 14 as the prototype went by. We already know the next Type R won't be as flamboyant as the outgoing model, but these shots offer a bit more context as to just what that entails. The front fascia features a large lower intake flanked by a pair of side intakes that look clean and aggressive without being shouty. The theme continues along the sides where we see rocker trim with a winglet in front of the rear wheel, similar to the current model. The biggest difference comes at the rear. Yes, that spoiler is large and in-charge, but barring clever panels hiding vents under the camo wrap (which actually is a menagerie of Rs when you look close), we'll have a modest pair of side vents flanking the center-exit exhaust. It's a far cry from the current Type R with its large corner vents and a plethora of contrasting angles. As for what's under the skin, expect to see a tweaked version of the current 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, turning just the front wheels with a six-speed manual. A slight bump in power is virtually guaranteed, but with front-wheel drive enduring as the order of the day, don't expect much more than the current Type R's 306 hp (228 kilowatts). The wrap should come off sometime next year as a 2023 model. More photos for your imagination.
  12. Hi there, my Honda Civic is going to reach 10 years next June. I am thinking of extending the COE, but some say might as well get a new car because of my car's high mileage (already 180,000km). Any advice on which would be better? I am thinking of extending the COE because my usage has dropped quite a lot in the last 2 years (don't need to send wife to work or kids to school anymore), and I send the car to Koh Motors for servicing regularly, so I thought the car can tahan another 5 years. Thanks!

Europe’s emissions regulations are some of the strictest in the world, paving the way for a plethora of cars powered by three-cylinder 1.0-liter engines. Aside from having to embrace downsizing, automakers are also heavily investing in electrification to keep the legislators happy and avoid having to pay steep fines related to exceeding average fleet CO2 emissions. Honda is not immune to the changes and has vowed to electrify its entire Euro lineup by 2022, but with one important exception. The Civic Type R will go down in history as the last bastion of gas-only Hondas on the Old Continent, according to a new report from Autocar. While the adjacent rendering from X-Tomi Design illustrates a hypothetical sedan, the Type R formula will once again be applied to the hatchback format. Despite rumors suggesting the next hot hatch would go hybrid with all-wheel drive and around 400 horsepower, the British magazine claims Honda will stick to the tried-and-tested formula. It’ll allegedly retain the turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine, but with a minor bump in horsepower over the current 316 hp. Autocar claims the Civic Type R is unlikely to get a major boost considering its front-wheel-drive nature. The report goes on to specify torque delivery could see an improvement as a result of improving turbocharger response. The outgoing model already excels in that area, offering 295 pound-feet (400 Newton-meters) from 2,500 rpm to 4,500 rpm. The 2020 model received upgraded brakes, a stiffer suspension, and revised steering, along with other updates. The grille grew in size, too, helping feed air to the turbocharged four-cylinder under the bonnet. However, it continues to make the same 306 bhp. If Mugen’s wild look is a bit much, there are plenty of other available upgrades.

  21. Hi all, Just would like to share my experiences during the renewal of my Honda Civic. History: My car is the Honda Civic 1.6AT, originally registered in 16 Apr 2009. I bought the car from a Direct seller through sgcarmart at 16.5k (min PARF is 12.5k) in Nov 2018, means I had approximate 6 months to drive the car to inspect its status before making decision to renew the COE or not. Road tax was paid until 15 Apr 2019, so it is another convenient point for me. The mileage of the car when I took over was 87000 km (genuine mileage) and I was the 4th owner of the car. The purchasing was pretty smooth, I paid full amount in cash and we completed the ownership transfer at LTA on the same day. STA evaluation: The Direct seller on his good will sent the car to STA for evaluation and bear the cost for it. The STA report showed there are only a few minor points with the car, inclusive the worn out tires, worn lower arm-buish, non-retractable left-side mirror and minor seepage of oil. As all of those issues are wear and tears items, I decided to move on and took the car. Driving experience and maitenance: Handling of the car is good, during the 6 months driving it never gave me any problems. Quite happy with my car, so in March I sent my car for regular servicing and also for comprehensive checking at a workshop to intensive evaluate the car for COE renewal. All wear and tears part needed to be changed include 4 tires (Michelin Primacy 4), lower arm buishes and fix the non-retractable mirror only (over-all cost me less than 1k). The oil seepage was not detected at this servicing time and the mechanics told me they would check it at next time servicing. After that my car was ready for COE renewal. COE renewal: I bought the car in Nov 2018, when the PQP for COE reneal was $29760. The PQP was steadily decrease in the months after that and it reached the lowest $25525 in March, before slight increase in Apr. When I logged in the LTA onemotoring portal, I got the option to choose Mar or Apr PQP. If I chose Mar PQP, then my new COE wil be from 1st Apr 2019 to 31rd Mar 2029. If I chose Apr PQP, then my new COE will be from 16th Apr 2019 to 15th Apr 2029. Due to only 15 days is forfeited, I have decided to renew the 10 years COE using March PQP. The payment is also pretty convenient via online bank-payment. I also realized that the PARF rebate is still valid until 15 Apr 2019 even though I have renewed the COE, means I can still de-register the car and get back that min PARF. Road tax renewal: Now there is a small problem for me. My insurance with AXA is till 20 Nov 2019, so I only got an option to renew the road tax for 6 month from 16th Apr 2019 to 15th Oct 2019 (at $407). I think I will need to discuss with the insurance company to extend my current contract till 15th Apr 2020 so I can align the road tax with the insurance, but surely there is a mismatch in the expiry dates for road tax and the new COE. Thinking: I am now thinking whether should I repaint the whole car or not. The color of my car is brown and there are quite a number of small scratches there, but it is not clearly visible. I asked around and the cost is likely to be in 1-1.5k, so still thinking about it. And since the headlights are quite yellowish (although tried to polish and restore but still a bit foggy), I have also bought a pair of headlights at price of $119 each. Will install this brand new headlights after I repaint the car.
  22. Looks like the hot Hatch category getting interesting next Year You Have the Renault RS which is zero to 100 in about 5.7 to 6 sec New engine. Not as ricey as the Civic and tamer. Functional Diffuser. 4 Wheel Steering, which may not be everyone's liking. Hopefully, they nail it this time round. Its downsize to 1.8T instead of 2.0 T so I suspect no replacement for displacement means the 150 to 200 kmh range will be slower on the straight. Comes stock at 280 bhp while GTi is 235 bhp. vs Civic 308 bhp. Let see what kind of prices. If the number falls in the 145 to 155 K range, probably have very good takeup rate.
