  1. How fast can can a Toyota Estima go? Any brother here driving one. I was going home on SLE last night and i saw a Estima going definately more than 150Km per hour. I was going at 130 ++ and the Estima just zoom pass me and pull away so quickly even though i was already clocking 130 ++. Sweat > I mean a MPV to go at such high speed is a bit hiong right? Somemore no scare camera?
  2. Launching in Japan on 16 Jan 06. It is said to be based on the hybrid version (2nd pic) unveiled eairler. The new Estima looks pretty good IMO 2006 Estima [inline "New Estima 2.JPG"] Hybrid Concept [inline "estima_hybrid1 (Small).jpg"]
  3. As above, any comparison done between these 2 models? My views after test drive of odyssey: Odyssey's engine sounds louder than estima within the car cabin Pick up seems more sluggish as compared to estima Odyssey more high tech, auto parking, blind spot indicator etc, BUT no auto tailgate?! Any idea whether Estima is getting a facelift or new design coming out end year/soon?
  4. Just wanted to check if Toyota Estima 2.4 is ok to buy when considering driving on windy and hilly roads ? I had been driving a Swift 1.2 with 5 people, and at certain roads especially with steep curves, it can only cruise at 30 KM / hour. and cars behind me becomes impatient. Or would an SUV be more a powerful car? I drove Swift 1.2 with 5 people including myself. That was 4 adults and my 5 yr old child. My daughter was always irritated when she was put in the car :) because of no leg room and small space at the back seat. I am considering Estima 1.2 , 7 seater all because of it's space and practicality, and cost. There is also Estima with 3.4 liter engine, but I think the mileage per KM would be lower than 2.4 one. \ Not sure if I really need Estima 3.4 ... or 2.4 would be sufficient. We will be 2 adults and 1 child travelling with some luggage most of the time on long road trips. ( Im new here and cannt make new posts , hence replying here )
  5. Anyone drive the above? Am curious how's the FC compared to the normal version. Btw anyone had their hybrid battery changed before? How muchy?
  6. Hi My fren just got an estima and said there is no spare tyre. I am guessing there is a repair kit somewhere. Can someone from here help? Thanks much!
  7. Can anyone share with me what's the difference between Aeras and Premium variants? Thanks!
  8. Hi, I am thinking of changing my tyres on my Estima. Current I am using Dunlop (225/50R18) but few months back it hit a nail so I am contemplating to change it soon. The current model as I have checked with many shops are hard to replace (ie such models are not common in the marketl) so it's best to change all 4. I have been reading that certain brands have their pros and cons. In my previous ride which is a Toyota Wish from BM, I used to always use Yokohama (stock). I am not into tyres so basically safety is the top prority and I do travel to Malaysia quite abit with my family. Any brand of tyres to be recommended for safety and fuel efficency? Thks.
  9. Teutonic Technologies Allan Wan added 4 new photos. 8 hrs · Hi everybody, I'm known mostly as Allan to my friends or Mr Wan to my students. I'm currently caught in a situation where I need all of your help. My car SGQ8851K grey Toyota Estima was sent to a workshop called Teutonic Technologies back in late Dec 2017 but has gone missing since 24 Jan 2018. The personnel at the workshop can no longer be contacted. I've tried all sorts of mean to get any information including filing through Small Claims Tribunal, filing a police report (attached for reference) and seeking help through LTA. LTA had kindly classified my car as "missing" on 2 Mar 2018, making it illegal to be driven on the road. From the LTA fine I've received in the letterbox, my car was last spotted driving through a ERP gantry (Havelock Road/Clemenceau Ave) on 1 Feb at 8.48am without enough cashcard value (attached for reference) and a further police report was filed. There has been no progress since. Hence, I'd like to appeal to all of you to share this information to all your friends in Facebook. If you happen to spot the car, kindly help me call the police or WhatsApp me at 9762 9505 with a photo of it so that I seek help from relevant authorities. Thank you very much! https://www.facebook.com/mr.allan.wan/posts/10214398541572509 pls help this poor guy to find his car
  10. Hello! I have a problem with my 1 month old Estima: While driving suddenly I lost power steering, Speed reading and all the warning lights including Engine, Power steering, traction control and ABS came on. The car remained drivable and the engine sounded the same. Brought it to the service center (PI) and they said it was a bad battery, changed it. Problem happened again and they changed battery again. Finally they also changed the alternator at my insistence but the problem continued. They then blamed the drive camera for draining too much battery. I've been asked to unplug it and see if the error comes back on. I have a HUD which reads real time voltage. I noticed that when in Park, its always 13.8-14.2V. When I drive, for the first few mins it will remain in this range. After that, on the road it will suddenly drop to 12.2V when the accelerator is being pressed. If I stop stepping on the accelerator while the car is moving at speed, the voltage will jump back to 14.2-14.4V. Also when I turn on the lights the voltage will jump to 13.7V. Turning on or off the air con makes no difference. I'm wondering if this is normal behaviour for the Estima or do I have a problem with some electronic control component? Thanks for any advice! P.S. Since this is my first post, I'm not allowed to start a new topic but if anyone is kind enough to help me re-post this in the Japan Car forum, I'll be very grateful for the increased exposure!
  11. Any bros here can recommend a rental company that has the above MPVs and is open on Saturdays? Just need the vehicle for 2 days due to a wedding event.
  12. Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum. I'm looking to buy a new Toyota Estima Upper Glove Box as mine is broken. Anybody knows where or who I can purchase it from? And about how much would it cost? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
  13. Bro and Sis, please help to recommend good workshop for reparing Power window of Toyota Estima? The holder that hold the glass have been broken. I have long story with Sparkcarcare with this window repair. It will be 3rd time I send in to assemble nicely for the window since I cancel the repair. The current service agent try to offer me to change the whole glass window with the holders (I need to purchase my v-kool again. Where by the prevous agent mention only change the holder). I verified with Borne Toyota and MBM that I can only change the holder. MBM informs me that there is no stock for the holders but need to wait 2 weeks for purchase. The worst is that Sparkcarcare simply assemble back the window with 3-4 mm gaps open that allow rains to go in between glass and rubber seal. I send in 2nd time in a day to re-allign the window. Today I learn that they broke few clips of side panel and power door cover is loosing that I will send in at 3rd time. They also broke my window visor and agreed to replace tomorrow. I am speechless!!! I never have such problem with them since using the ctr for almost 6 yr for regular oil change since previous accord. I use them since it is the authorised shop for PI estima. The warranty just expired at Mar 13. So bro and sis, is there a better workshop for repairing Estima? MBM is okay? I think that Sparkcarcare may not good in repairing but only servicing oil. I feel scary with Sparkcarcare and wonder if they can continue to perform the repair.
  14. Hi guys, First time purchasing an Estima from a PI. Am thinking that I should be going to those reputable servicing centres like Stamford Tyres or Autobacs regularly. Is there any recommendations? Thus far I only know of these 2. The reason why I cited these 2 is because they have more state of the art machines as compared to those smaller one?? (Pls correct me if I am wrong) Thks.

  20. My friend has a 2007 Toyota Estima 2.4. Whenever, he revs the engine hard, there is a burn smell coming into the cabin. The smell could be from exhaust. He have changed the cabin filter but did not cure this problem. Couldn't see any exhaust leak either. What could be the cause? Anyone with such experience?
  21. The military style precision car-jacking and robbery @ Johor Bahru seem to be more professional over the years!! Share 0 inShareThe New Paper Monday, May 28, 2012 It was a robbery that involved dangerous manoeuvres, a car chase, and violent men wielding parangs. It ended with the victim being slashed and the SUV turning turtle. The drama unfolded on Thursday afternoon in Johor Baru's business district. Shin Min Daily News reported that the victim, a man in his 40s, was driving the Singapore-registered SUV. There were friends on board with him. The victim, who is Malaysian Chinese, lives in Johor Baru. When he drove into a back lane behind some shop houses, he noticed a stationary brown SUV blocking his way. Then, a Proton bearing a Kuala Lumpur-licence plate swerved into the lane. The victim was sandwiched. Speaking to the media from a private hospital, the victim recalled: "Immediately after (I entered the back lane), two cars outflanked me. Men rushed out from the vehicles and smashed my car windows." Five of the eight robbers wielded parangs. Threw rolling pin A chef, who wanted to be known as Ami, was working in the kitchen of one of the shophouses and witnessed the incident. He was holding a rolling pin, which he threw at the robbers. It hit one of them. Ami, 27, said his action angered the group. One man turned round and scolded him. Ami said: "He shouted at me not to interfere." The chef heeded the warning. Though he was holding a vegetable peeling knife as well, he knew he was ill-equipped to fight against the robbers, with their parangs. Malaysian newspaper Sin Chew Daily reported that the robbers were Indonesians. They grabbed two briefcases from the victim's SUV before fleeing the scene. But the victim fought back.He gave chase in his SUV - unsuccessfully. After a 500m drive, the victim tried to overtake the robbers but collided with another car at the side of the road, causing his SUV to overturn. That was when he saw a white car, with no licence plate. The robbers abandoned their own SUV and dashed into the waiting Harrier. Still, the victim didn't give up. He grabbed a wooden club from his SUV and approached the fleeing robbers. That proved to be a painful decision. Infuriated, one of the robbers slashed the victim's right arm, tearing the ligament in his middle finger. The victim also suffered a broken bone in his ring finger. The robbers managed to escape, leaving a trail of destruction. There were pools of blood on the road and blood stains on the wooden club. Residents in the area sent the injured victim to hospital. Johor Baru south district police director Zainudin confirmed that the suitcases contained large amounts of cash from two money changers. The exact amount is unknown. It was also unclear where the cash was being sent. This article was first published in The New Paper.
