    1. If you want to use your rediscover singapore vouchers for hotel staycations think twice. Queued for 2 hours still not our turn to checkin. 🥵 [Update] - It’s been 4 hours I’m near to the counter and just heard that the floor staffs have no clue if there are still rooms for us. Probably more than 70 people here queuing. Many kids and old people. No safe distancing measures, nobody coming out to do crowd control. Even when we ask people queuing behind us to distance away after a few mins they start to come near again.. we can’t even get our refunds or cancel without reaching the counter. What the hell is happening ? Grand Park Orchard P/S : I also heard about similar problems with Orchard Hotel. Are the hotels overbooked? What’s happening can we have some explanation please. At this point of time I am just so exhausted I just want to either get a refund immediately or let me check in. 🥲 [UPDATE 2] Their GM came out to Address the issue, say can’t promise what time they can get us a room, offered to give refund or give us another free stay another day or just wait at the 5 hour mark. We were at the counter a staff put us on waiting and currently until now there’s still no calls from them means no room lo. ----- Came across this fb post. I've one staycay at another hotel booked for December about almost two months ago in advance without using the vouchers. Hope won't encounter the same problem!!

    4. Formula 2 driver Anthoine Hubert killed in crash at Belgian Grand Prix Source: https://edition.cnn.com/2019/08/31/motorsport/anthoine-hubert-killed-belgian-grand-prix-formula-2-spt-intl/index.html Formula 2 driver Anthoine Hubert has died after a crash at the Belgian Grand Prix, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has confirmed. The Frenchman's car was hit at high speed by Juan-Manuel Correa's at Spa-Francorchamps. They were treated by emergency medical crews before being taken to a medical center. Hubert, 22, died at 6:45 p.m. local time, the FIA said, while American Correa remains in a stable condition and is being treated at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) de Liege hospital. A crane clears the wreckage following Anthoine Hubert's crash. The third driver involved, France's Giuliano Alesi, was declared fit at the medical center. The race was canceled soon after the crash occurred on lap two. Formula 2 is a feeder series for Formula One and is seen as the final step before progressing to F1. Hubert, who won two races this season and the Formula 3 championship last year, drove for BWT Arden and was an affiliated driver for the Renault Formula One team. Teams and drivers from across the motorsport community paid tribute to Hubert, with former F1 world champion Jenson Button calling the youngster "super talented." Mercedes' F1 team, which will be competing in tomorrow's Grand Prix on the same track, said: "The entire Mercedes family sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Anthoine Hubert, and his Arden and Renault teams on this tragic day." RIP Anthoine Hubert.

Grand Hyatt incident: Singapore Civil Defence Force and Singapore Police Force on the scene after smoke was seen billowing out of the hotel.
    6. So I got lucky and managed to win the grand prize for the recent Sonax workshop event held on Renault premises. The top prize was a weekend drive-away with the prize winning Grand Scenic. MCF organisers requested a thread on the weekend drive-away and I was happy to oblige. Just wondering if anyone has questions on this 7 seater model, I may be able to help answer some questions as I explore the ride this weekend. Current ride is a smallish Hyundai i30 wagon, so this is a different category for me, although I did come from a Mazda 5 not too long ago. A more complete review will be attempted, but first up some specs. Renault Grand Scenic Type - MPV 7 seater (midsize MPV) Engine - Diesel 1.5 litre Turbo dCI (Auto) ; Euro 6 BHP - 110; Torque - 260 NM Extras - full size glass roof (standard on Grand Scenic) Seats - full leather, one-touch foldable system via rear and front display panel Wheels - 195/55/20 with 20 inch rims Weight - 1.5 tons Length - 4.6 m; Height - 1.6 m 0 -100 km/h : 13.2 seconds Luggage space - 233/596 (3rd row folded)

    8. Can't create a new topic, so will write a question here. I have Citroen Grand C4 Picasso with BluHDI 200. Recently I've got a message that Ureal level is low and I need to refill it, otherwise I can't start engine in 1100km. I went to official service (Sing Huat Premium), they topped up Adblue tank, but the message still remain. They don't know what to do with it and advised me to go to official Citroen dealer. Reading Internet I found out that this can be a real problem and the best solution is probably to remove Adblue system at all. Can someone advise a technical service which have experience with AdBlue system?

    12. Jeep three-row Chinese SUV will be called Grand Commander https://www.autoblog.com/2018/01/16/jeep-large-suv-china-grand-commander/ China is still very much a Jeep country, and the boxy XJ generation Cherokee lived and prospered there far longer than it did in the United States — until 2014. There have also been China-built Grand Cherokees, but the biggest Chinese Jeep has been previewed in the form of the Yuntu concept seen at the Shanghai Auto Show in April. Now, leaked shots of the Yuntu's production version have emerged a couple weeks after the SUV was spotted testing still in camouflage, and it appears to wear the nameplate GrandCommander. While a name like Grand Wagoneer would have been a stronger memento of Jeeps gone by, at least it's not called Grand Compassor Grand Nitro. The official reveal of the Grand Commander is expected to be held at the Beijing Auto Show in April, where more information will be available. Car News China says the big, nearly 16-foot-long SUV is a seven-seater, and the engine is the same 2-liter turbo unit also seen in the freshly updated Wrangler. There will be two power levels, 234 hp and 265 hp. The Grand Commander will most likely remain China-only, where it will be priced at $38,000. That sees it competing withVolkswagen's large Teramont SUV, which starts at nearly $45,000.

      Grand Prix in Singapore??

Didn't know that there were GP in the old Singapore.... "The main touring car support race to the Singapore Grand Prix in 1967 resulted in an outright win. Foley's 1300cc Cooper 'S' is seen here leading the factory Mazda R100 specially imported from Japan and driven by works driver Katayama."

      Ford Grand C-Max

Anyone had a chance to check out this car yet? Wondering if it could be a good alternative to the BMW 216 GT. Branding-wise obviously not comparable, but it could be good value for money with sliding doors to boot.

    18. May want to upgrade to a MPV for my next ride and am considering this 4 mid-size conti diesel-powered Cat A MPV which I have viewed them all but couldnt made up my mind. Reason for going Diesel is because I figured out over a distance of 100k km, the saving in pump cost is much greater as compared to the higher road tax which I may have to pay for a diesel-powered 1.6L MPV (making comparison with mid-size petrol powered MPV like Wish/Mazda 5). Furthermore, driving up North is something which i seldom do. Based on personal observation, Touran is the one which i spotted most often on the roads (though they may be the petrol variant and not neccessary the diesel variant) Any views from current owners or anyone who has an opinion? I'm trying to guess which MPV is the best value for money or best bang for bucks over a period of say 8yrs.

      Taking care of Grand Auntie

My uncle-in-law and his family moved to Australia sometime ago. My uncle found a nice job there and will be away for a long long time. Problem is that my uncle is an only son and has always been taking care of her mum (my grand auntie). Being a conservative, dialect speaking illiterate old woman, grand auntie didn't want to follow my Uncle to Oz because she cannot communicate in English, she don't like Western food and so on.Because of this situation, my uncle made me a deal. I get to live in his executive HDB for free and he even left me his old MPV. The only catch is I must look after grand auntie. This sounds like a good bargain until I tell you grand auntie is very problematic. The old coot has kidney problems so I must drive her to dialysis every other day. She also wants to play mahjong with her friends every few days and I must chauffer her too. Then I also drive her to the wet market for her grocery shopping. My grand auntie has very "high standards" and like to complain a lot. If I drive too jerkily, she complains. If I oversleep a bit and she is late for her mahjong game, she complains. The worst is when the MPV broke down one night. She at me for 45 mins. But there is also some good news. Because the executive flat is very big, I have started renting the rooms out to foreigners. Renting rooms a is damn profitable business and I can easily get $500 off a single tenant. The best part is if one tenant complain the rents is too expensive, I just evict him and get a new one (such is the red hot demand). By squeezing as many tenants in as possible, I don't even have to work anymore (except look after grand auntie) Like I said earlier, the MPV broke down recently. According to the mechanic, this is because I have not been sending it for regular servicing (MPV don't belong to me, why should I spend so much $$$ on it?). Then ta ma de, grand auntie complained to my uncle so he is coming back to check on things. Therefore, I am seeking 3 advice: 1) How to make my grand auntie not comprain so much? 2) How to give the MPV minimal and most economical repairs so my Uncle wouldn't notice any issues? 3) Can recommend me more tenants? This is my main income stream.

      Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have been thinking of getting a big SUV / MPV due to changing family needs and not many seem to fall into my expectations in term of price / features. A Jeep Grand Cherokee seems to have the right balance - aside from it's poor FC and high road tax, which I'm okay with. There are many factors why I like this car, it's huge (almost like a Hummer H3), has loads of features, it's tough and has high ground clearance - ease of getting in and out. I am sure if I go for a test drive there will be more reasons to like the car. The most important factor is that going for this car I don't feel like it's a downgrade from my current ride (Audi A5) in term of equipment level. The car is a very important place for my family as we spend a lot of quality time together joy riding and going places, so I value comfort and fact that my wife and sons liked something tall and huge like a Hummer, but with a good creature comfort for all the passengers. My current ride is great for the driver, but not as great for passengers especially for long distance drives. What I'm looking for is whether there is any reason not to go for a Jeep, particularly this model, so that if I sign on the dotted line, I know exactly what I'm getting myself into.
