  1. Hi, Was wondering if anyone here is driving 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander (or used to own one) ? Thinking of converting to SUV from my Mark X... Was looking at Outlander as I like the design and functions. Any things I should take note of ?
  2. Rumours: New Mitsubishi Outlander might get Nissan power source: https://uk.motor1.com/news/420365/next-mitsubishi-outlander-nissan-engine/ In return, Mitsubishi will reportedly share its plug-in hybrid powertrain with Nissan. The current Mitsubishi Outlander is nearing the end of its lifetime. The current model has been on sale since its 2014 model year, and it's about time for Mitsubishi to give its compact crossover a full revamp. It won't be long, however, until we see the next-generation Outlander. It has been spied testing since September of last year, and it has been confirmed that a new one will debut this year. However, information about the next Outlander is still scarce at this point, as well as its expected styling, although these exclusive renderings should give you an idea of how it will look like. What we know is that the Mitsubishi Outlander will be sharing its underpinnings with the next-generation Nissan Qashqai, which is scheduled to debut this year, as well. Both crossovers will ride on a platform developed by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. Automotive News, however, reported that the Outlander will be using a Nissan engine under its bonnet, marking the first time that a Mitsubishi vehicle will be using a Nissan mill. The information was from Japan's Nikkei business daily. This signals a deeper alliance between the two Japanese marques, furthering the current strategy of cutting costs by sharing product development.
  3. for those looking out to buy a 7 seater mid range SUV as an alternative to a 7 seater MPV.....pls share your views and comments
  4. Helping my father make a decision on his next car. He’s currently driving a Fortuner in its last yr of COE, and would like a 7 seater SUV as replacement. Visited the show rooms last wkend to look see, so considering between these two models: Outlander $129k Sorento SX Diesel ~ $155k (SE quote) He’s the type to use the car up to the 9-10yr mark before changing. Sorento OMV is 33k, PARF is about 4.7k more than outlander. Travels >30k km a yr, so calculated the savings of diesel over the petrol over 10yrs, together with the PARF difference, it will eventually add up to balance the car price as well as road tax difference. So kinda leaning towards the Sorento. Hence would need some input regarding both models and which would you pick over. Are they any hidden cost or details that may help tip the outlander to be of better value or the deciding factor? maintenance, would turbo diesel engine require more maintenance in the long run vs 2.4 NA Engine? Servicing cost wise, are they about the same? What about parts replacement, Kor vs jap parts cheaper? Reliability? Would assume both are equally as good? Is it easy to find Diesel Euro V in Malaysia? (He travels to JB quite frequently, Penang Ipoh maybe once or twice a yr) Many thanks for any input or views.

  10. Some Mitsu Outlander & Grandis recalled: for defective brake light system and when it fails the gear may get stuck in 'Park'. http://www.straitstimes.com/Breaking%2BNew...ory_312307.html Watch for it: https://vitas.lta.gov.sg/EvPublicEnquirySer...ButtonName=view
  11. Alright, after the mazda showroom, mitsubishi is next.honestly, outlander was that striking enough to gain my interest. but todays exprience somewhat changed my mindset. price wise is about 92k for M spec and 99k for G spec, exclusive of promotions and stuff. '07 outlander comes with 2.4L sohc mivec engine, pumping out 170 horses and 21nm of torque. (if my memory serves me right) packaged with invecs II cvt, with 6sp manual mode. the party piece is the supposedly magnesium paddle shifter on the steering column. which means, the paddles are stationery. (you wont confuse yourself on which paddle to pull, especially when negotiating tight turns require more steeering lock) basically, 99.9% of the populartion wont be using it. being a cvt, acceleration is seemless regardless of how hard the acclerator is pushed. (unless in manual mode). 170 horses doesnt feel very strong, but is still adequet to hual the car along. another feature is the transmission selector. 2wd(fwd) / 4wd / lock (locks the diffs). 2wd or 4wd can be engaged on the move, at your command. this can be done via a circular dail, beisde the parking brake. VSC ABS EBD are standard, nt too sure about TC. but is there a way to temprarily disable the VSC for some fun? suspesion, pretty ok. body roll is ok for its height / weight, as long as you dont attack the corner too hard. bumps and stuff, i'll leave it for you guys to tell. the test route didnt really allow me to test the bump absorbtion. the outlander dashboard looks appealing, though the plastics used still suggests of a lower production cost. the meter console area has a multifuction lcd which is quite intereting. it even tells you which door is still open. G spec wll come with factory fitted leathers, and rockfort 9 speaker sound system with a big woofer in the boot. it too also comes with a sunroof. priced at almost 100k, you'll be expecting maybe a cruise control. but sadly, there isnt. (at least for the M spec) though fog lights and 18" rim are a standard. comments are welcomed
