      Volkswagen Passat 1.8

Guys am considering getting a passat 1.8. Can any owners here comment the experience with this variant? May I know what's the typical servicing costs per 15000km? There's really no topic about the costs here?
    3. China’s All-New Volkswagen Passat Previews What America Will Soon Get?https://carbuzz.com/news/china-s-all-new-volkswagen-passat-previews-what-america-will-soon-get Say goodbye to the current bland-looking Passat. Say hello to this stunner? We’ve known for some time now that Volkswagen has been hard at work on an all-new North American market Passat. The current generation, built in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has been on sale since 2011. Compared to its immediate predecessor, the outgoing Passat is, in a word, bland, styling wise. It’s not that it was a bad car but it was very conservatively styled inside out. What’s more, it was designed and built specifically for North America while Europe received a more stylish and premium Passat. That won’t be the case for much longer. Thanks to VW Vortex, we’re getting our first look at the newly revealed Chinese market Passat and the car you’re looking at is said to very much resemble what’s about to debut for the US. Without question there’s lots of Arteon design influences throughout, especially up front and from a side profile. Despite having the familiar three-box sedan design, this new Passat is sleeker and unquestionably sexier than today’s car. Despite the sloped roofline, there’s still a traditional trunk as opposed to a liftback design. It’s also bigger than the Euro-spec Passat. For example, it’s about 3 inches longer and has roomier rear seat. Speaking of which, note the quilted leather and fancy glass bottles in the center armrest cupholders. The cupholders will surely be on the US market version, but we’re not so sure about the upgraded upholstery rear seats. Remember, it’s very fashionable in China for owners to be chauffeured around town by a hired driver, hence the need for VW to upgrade the rear seats. It doesn’t work like that in America. The new Passat will ride on VW’s MQB platform which also underpins the likes of the Arteon, Atlas, Jetta, and Europe’s Passat. Under the hood, there’s a good chance the VW will make further use of the same turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four with 268 hp found in the Arteon. It’s paired to an eight-speed automatic sending power to either the front or all four wheels. The Arteon’s US launch was recently delayed and isn’t expected to go on sale until early next year. The all-new Passat, however, will likely debut at either Los Angeles in late November or at Detroit in mid-January.

    5. I need some advice on what to do with my car currently. It is a 2009/2010 Passat CC 2.0 Tsi, 6 speed DSG DQ250 About a month ago, my car started juddering at a stop light, foot on the brakes, the car wasn’t moving. It managed to engage the gears just fine for a few minutes after that. Then, at another stop light, the “D” indicator started flashing at the top right corner and the car was stuck in one gear. Drove to the side and restarted the car, everything was fine after that. After that one incident, I’ve only had the gearbox not engage once. This time, I shifter into N and back to D and everything was fine. However, now when I am driving, sometimes there will be a noise when the gears shift. From 2 to 3 and from 3 to 4. Mostly up shifts. Kinda like an abrasion noise. I have no idea what is wrong with the car, and I have went to multiple workshops to get it checked. There was an error code (P2711) and that’s about it. A few mechanics say it is clutched damage and suggested replacing the clutch, costing 1.8k. But I’m thinking, could it just be not enough transmission fluid? The noise doesn’t happen every time I shift, and when I shift manually, it doesn’t have the sound at all. Or maybe some electrical fault?

      Passat 1.4TSI

Bros and well.. Sis.. For a VW Passat.. I dont understand the logic for a 1.4L engine.. I have always felt that the 1.6L for a S80 is already.. like does not suit.. 1.4L for a Passat? Just my opinion.. Now underpowered meh? and using the famous 7 speed gearbox.. http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/review.php?AID=510

    15. I was called by my friend to watch him race his 159 vs my other's friend boxster and drove all the way down to Jalan Sultan to be safety car, but knn Boxster chickened out and got no race to watch, angry I decided to race with 159 and it is indeed a fast car, no way my Passat could overtake it. However, the boxster's 0 to 100 of 5.8s should be able to whack the 159's 0 to 100 of 8s easily, why does he reject 159's invivation for a frenly race so many times? He claims got hesistation when rev-ing....so don't buy 10 year old boxster? I also sianz...my car lagi slow...which car to buy to that can whack the 159???
    16. VW cars are made like Volvos of yesteryear (Remember the Volvo 240 & 740?). My friend was in his VW Passat waiting for the lights to turn green on a gentle slope when he nodded off and lifted his foot off the brake. His Passat moved forward and he was awoken with a bump. The front of his Passat had hit a SBS bus rear. The damage? The SBS (Volvo) bus bumper dented in but VW Passat was unscattered except for a hair line crack on the bumper. I was surprised and amazed. See pictures. My next car would definitely be a VW.

      5-seater Passat CC

Finally.... Wonder how soon it'll get to SG? http://www.worldcarfans.com/110012224155/v...-as-five-seater
    19. All 3 cars are selling at around the 125K range, which will you go for ? I think Opel Insignia will be priced out. ( worst since they are not bringing in the sports tourer, which I think looks much better than the sedan) I saw the car, it's good but I dont think good enough as it's priced at 128K.. For practicality, I will go for the Superb 2 estate... For the wow factor, I will go for the passat cc 5 seater. The only thing against the passat cc 5 seater is the fact I would prefer a car more suitable for a family with 2 young child. I think it's still possible, but of course a large sedan or estate version should be better. Also, the passat has omv of around 29K, and the SE told me the cc will be marked up by ~ 5k compared with the 4 seater version. Too much profit margin for them!! and we already know in Europe the difference bet the 5 and 4 seater version is only 100 Euro !! But the passat cc really looks I think the superb 2 estate ( coming in this month ) will be the best value for money. Good spec, practical and looks not too bad but of course the opel insignia sports tourer will win hands down on the look department. So, which will you guys go for?
    20. Vw Passat TSI EcoFuel Sedan Concept unveiled at Bologna Vw Passat EcoFuel ConceptA sedan version of its earlier Passat TSI EcoFuel wagon concept was recently introduced by Volkswagen, featuring the vehicle at the Bologna Motor Show this week. The vehicle can utilize either gasoline or natural gas for fuel, the EcoFuel vehicles are propelled by a 1.4 liter TSI engine that generates about 150 hp (112 kW). The engine comes with both a supercharger and a turbocharger operating in sequence to offer relatively high energy yields from its small facility. To permit the engine to manage the extra loading encountered due to the burning of natural gas instead of gasoline, considerable alterations have been done. The valves, piston rings and the pistons themselves are all upgraded to cope, at the same time the turbocharger has also been substituted with a smaller unit. A new management computer controls the switch between typical fuel and natural gas. More details and photos after the jump! A trio of tanks with a total capacity of 22 kilograms located under the trunk stores the natural gas. This is supported by a 31 liter tank of gasoline. The Passat TSI EcoFuel is given a theoretical range of around 500 miles (800km) between these two fuel tanks. It has a ceiling speed of 130mph and an accelaration rate of 0 to 62mph in 9.8 seconds, making it practical for daily use. In typical situations the car utilizes 4.5kg of natural gas per 100km. Outfitted with a DSG dual-clutch gearbox, the Passat EcoFuel will discharge lower than 120g of CO2/km, roughly equivalent to a much smaller compact hatchback. Although VW has yet to announce its plans for producing its EcoFuel technology, considering its remarkable fuel efficiency it will come soon enough. Source: VW Passat EcoFuel
    21. According to Auto International, Volkswagen is set to release the latest update its Passat mid-size sedan at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. Further, the German automaker could have both the sedan and wagon versions already in European dealerships before the end of the year. If there's any truth to the rumor, the next Passat will get new bodywork but will share it basic structure with the current car, with major elements such as the roof going completely unchanged. In keeping with VW's upscale theme for the Passat, the next-gen model is expected to offer such luxuries as reversing cameras, active cruise control and intelligent lighting. Power will surely come from a number of gasoline and diesel engines, most employing some form of forced induction and displacing between 1.2 and 2.0 liters. In what appears to be a growing industry trend, larger V6 engines are said to be gone from the specifications list, although a hybrid and full electric model are supposedly planned for the next full redesign for the 2015 model year.

Ford Mondeo Ecoboost VS Volkswagen Passat CC

Hi one and all.... i'm held between these 2 cars.... and would wanna know what would your choices be.... i personally like the Passat CC purely for it's external sleek looks.... however, the boring interior design, as well as cramp rear seats, make this car an impractical car especially for family use.... as for the Ford Mondeo, i'm really looking forward to the 2.0EcoBoost model with 201bhp and 6AT.... the outgoing 2.3Duratec 161bhp just isn't enough for the huge Mondeo body.... i like the Mondeo for its executive looks without breaking the bank, as well as a unique interior, that is both well made and rather stylish at the same time.... the rear seats are also really spacious enough for my family to fit in....
