The 1,000-hp 1969 Mustang Mach 1 "Hitman" with John Wick paint job source: https://newatlas.com/automotive/1-000-hp-mustang-mach-1-hitman/ In Oklahoma there's a company called Classic Recreations that restores or reproduces classic muscle cars but with an injection of modern tech. The company's latest effort is called the "Hitman" and it's a glorious 1969 Mustang Mach 1 restomod with a John Wick-inspired paint job. The car's bodywork is an actual Mustang Mach 1 restored to factory-new condition by Classic Recreations. A Ford 32-valve 5.0-liter Coyote V8 32 valve crate engine with a BOSS 302 intake, together producing 1,000 horsepower (746 kW), is then added. Also in the package is a six-speed manual transmission from Tremec, a 9-inch 3.50 ratio rear end with Posi-Traction, and tubular subframe connectors. Engine management systems put power to the ground and a custom 2.5-inch Mandrel stainless steel manifold and exhaust system and Magnaflow mufflers let the growl commence. A custom 18-gallon fuel cell from Rick's Tanks provides the gas. The Hitman Mach 1 has a custom suspension with coilovers in front and Total Control rear coilovers at the back. Front and rear oversized sway bars keep the body and frame under control and a powered rack and pinion steering system adds driver control. Lightweight 18-inch American Racing Wheels are clad with Michelin Pilot Sport 2s in 225/40 up front and 315/30 at the rear, while six-piston Wilwood calipers with slotted and cross-drilled rotors are found behind all four wheels. Brake bias is controlled through an adjustable rear proportioning valve. An aluminum crossflow radiator from BeCool cools the engine and an "Old Air" air conditioning system does the same for the cabin, while a custom-designed JVC head unit and speaker layout with a Kicker amp provides the audio accompaniment. Inside there's also a woodgrain steering wheel, five-point seat harnesses, 200-mph gauges, TMI Mustang interior panels, and a cosmetic rollbar to keep things authentic. The Mustang Mach 1 Hitman is painted in two-tone "Hitman" gray and black with a factory style, period-correct chin spoiler and rear decklid spoiler. Mach 1 badges also feature. The Mach 1 Hitman shown here was custom-built to owner specifications and is the first Mach 1 to be built by Classic Restorations under official license from Ford. The company can customize and build to order another, if you have the (unspecified amount of) cash required.
  2. The French outfit has reached the four-figure horsepower mark for its Formula 1 car in qualifying trim. As reported by Auto Motor und Sport, Renault engine head Remi Taffin revealed that his company is able to produce more than 1,000bhp in specific circumstances “There are only certain performance peaks in qualifying,” he said. “We can not always get that performance. It depends on many factors. For example, the distance and the outside temperatures.” Interesting, Renault is keen to announce how much horsepower its 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 hybrid powertrain can make unlike Mercedes or Ferrari, which aren’t so forthcoming and won’t disclose how much their own engines put out. While it is not clear if the other teams actually have more power than Renault or not, power is not everything as Renault is still lagging behind the likes of Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull Racing with its results.
  3. Every now and then we would hear some news about a rather unknown automotive company introducing their exotic super sports car. Some companies eventually made their prototypes into production models, such as the Pagani Zonda, Bugatti Veyron, etc. and many others did not even go past the planning stage and their ideas and plans just got lost into oblivion. Now, a French design company, Genty, plans to build a car that will beat the Veyron in terms of speed. It is named the Genty Akylone. Around four years ago, the company planned to produce a lightweight supercar. First of all they designed a chassis that was mainly made of carbon fibre and aluminium. As the development goes by, every unnecessary item were omitted out and only the essentials were left in placed. With all these weight saving measures taking place, the car weighs around 1200kg, with a weight distribution of 58% at the rear and the rest at the front. The car will have a mid-mounted twin turbocharged 4.8 litre V8 engine, powering the rear wheels, plus a 7-speed sequential transmission. Genty did not reveal whether they are going to develop an engine for this project or they are going to use one from another manufacturer. Power wise, it is rumoured to be just over 1000bhp and 1198Nm of torque with a top speed of 354km/h. With a lightweight body and a powerful engine, the Akylone is expected to do 0-100km/h in just 2.7 seconds, 0-200km/h in 7.2 seconds and 0-295km/h in 14 seconds. In addition, a 9.8 seconds timing for the quarter mile sprint is also expected. In order to prove these timings, Genty will test the car at Nurburgring once it is ready. Exterior wise, the car will have scissors doors, rear diffusers, LED lights (front and rear) and a sporty, aggressive front snout. While the interior still looks conceptual, it will get sports seats and the latest gadgets a supercar would normally have. Pricing has not been confirmed yet and Genty plans to build 15 units for the Akylone which they will premiere it at next year
