  1. Ford has decided to combine the American market Fusion model and the global Mondeo model into a single model. A few days after the Fusion was released at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, here we have the first official photos of the pre-production 2013 European Ford Mondeo. Like the Fusion, the new Mondeo sports an Aston Martin-like front grille that looks to swallow up competitors such as the Passat and Insignia. The European model differentiates itself from its American counterpart with a slightly different headlamp assembly and a body-coloured rear bumper trim. I particularly like the ducktail-like boot which bears shades of the Lamborghini Aventador. In Europe, the all new Mondeo will be offered with the 1.6L and 2.0L EcoBoost turbocharged petrols along with a range of diesel units. In the US, the 1.6L and 2.0L petrol versions produce 179bhp/233Nm and 237bhp/338Nm respectively. The Mondeo
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9Jvnu2eY5M Honda has unveiled the much anticipated NSX Concept at the Detroit Auto Show. The first generation was in production from 1990 till 2005. The Japanese automaker had shown several NSX concept models over the years but none of them make it to production so far. However, this NSX concept is the real deal with the production model to debut within the next three years. It will be manufactured in Ohio at a facility to be named later on. Like the original NSX from the early 1990s, the next-generation supercar will have a mid-mounted V6 engine and will make use of lightweight materials. The V6 VTEC engine benefits from direct-injection technology and is linked to a dual clutch transmission with a built-in electric motor. In addition, it will also feature Honda's Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) hybrid system that utilizes two electric motors that can instantly send negative or positive torque to the front wheels during cornering for improved handling and efficiency. Honda did not reveal any performance specifications but is rumored to pump out 400bhp with a century sprint timing of less than 5 seconds. President and CEO of Honda Motor Co., Ltd, who led the development of Honda's first NSX supercar, shared the values of the new NSX, "Like the first NSX, we will again express high performance through engineering efficiency. In this new era, even as we focus on the fun to drive spirit of the NSX, I think a supercar must respond positively to environmental responsibilities."

    RIP Caliber, hello Dart

[extract] The Dodge Caliber was on sale in Singapore for a while but was unloved by Singaporeans. It seems that the Caliber received similar sentiments from the rest of the world such that Chrysler Group has finally ended the production of the slow-selling hatchback after almost six years. The Caliber hatchback was launched in early 2006 as a replacement for the Dodge Neon sedan and coupe models. Annual sales peaked at 101,079 in 2007, but soon fell to 84,158 in 2008 and just 36,098 in 2010. Through the end of November this year, Dodge sold just 33,632 Calibers. Though the Caliber
  4. Chrysler announced that it would bring back the Dart nameplate for Dodge's first compact sedan since the Neon was phased out in 2005. The company is planning a slow reveal, with snippets of the four-door's exterior and interior trickling out between now and the vehicle's full unveil at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. Chrysler said that the 2013 Dodge Dart was adapted from the award-winning Alfa Romeo Giulietta. Kristin Starnes, a Dodge spokeswoman, said in a telephone interview that the Dart would be longer and wider than the Giulietta, and that it would be a four-door sedan rather than a four-door hatchback. Though output levels were not disclosed, Chrysler announced that the Dart would be available with three different power plants from Fiat, the corporate parent of Chrysler and Alfa. These engines are a 16-valve 2-litre four-cylinder, a 16-valve 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with Fiat's MultiAir valve-throttling system; and a 16-valve 2.4-litre four-cylinder with MultiAir. The Fiat 1.4-litre MultiAir is shared with the Fiat 500 and If the Fiat 500 Abarth is any indication, that means we're looking at somewhere around 160bhp. Such output would be good enough to challenge the Jetta Sport. Three transmissions would be offered, although details are still murky at the moment. However, I believe that the dual clutch transmission developed by Fiat Powertrain Technologies could be one possibility. Chrysler says that 68% of the vehicle's architecture is comprised of high-strength steel, which means the 2013 Dart should retain much of the rigidity that made the Giulietta. The dart is supported by four-wheel independent suspension with optional 18-inch wheels. With the Dart, Dodge will be entering the royal rumble consisting of the Cruze, Civic, Jetta, Focus and many more.
