The current 10th generation Civic was officially unveiled on 17 September 2015, and after close to 5 years, the next gen is on the horizon. The spy shots below shown the 5 door Type R variant, which look more upright than the current gen even though it was wearing heavy cladding. What happened? The driver who caused a fatal accident on the CTE (Central Expressway) in 2021 has been sentenced to two and a half years of jail as well as a 10 year driving ban. Ng Wen Xun, 35, was reported to have been speeding at up to 215km/h in a Mazda 3 when she lost control of her vehicle, hitting a guard railing before colliding with two motorcycles, another car, and a lorry. Ng’s car then hit the guard railing on the other side before stopping and catching fire. The lorry turned on it's right side, sending two of it's passengers onto the road. Almost all parties were sent to the hospital, with the exception being a 65 year old driver from the other car involved in the crash. One of the motorcyclists, 31, died in the hospital after succumbing to their injuries. One of the lorry passengers was found to have fractures to his spine, needing to be hospitalised for 9 days. Ng pleaded guilty to two charges of dangerous driving, one causing death and another of causing grievous hurt. However, her lawyer said her client exhibited a "very limited manner of dangerous driving". To add to this point, Ms Chee brought up how the situation occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic, and so there were fewer road users due to the hybrid work situation. She said her client has "genuine remorse" and is deeply apologetic and "very, very sorry" for the loss of life she has caused. Ng will serve her jail sentence beginning from June 12, or pay bail set at $15,000 on Monday. If convicted for dangerous driving causing death, one can be jailed between two and eight years and banned from driving for 10 years. The consequences of dangerous driving causing grievous hurt are a jail term between a year and five years, as well as a driving ban of eight years. The World Economic Forum in Singapore set to take place in August 2021 has been cancelled. News of the cancellation has already made it to Twitter. A tweet by Reuters Southeast Asia editor said: The World Economic Forum meeting planned for Singapore has been cancelled given uncertainty over COVID-19 variants, travel, vaccines The special annual meeting was scheduled to take place three months from now. A statement on the WEF website said: Regretfully, the tragic circumstances unfolding across geographies, an uncertain travel outlook, differing speeds of vaccination rollout and the uncertainty around new variants combine to make it impossible to realise a global meeting with business, government and civil society leaders from all over the world at the scale which was planned. This is despite the excellent support provided by the Government of Singapore. The statement also said the next annual meeting will instead take place in the first half of 2022. Huawei has just unveiled the Seres SF5 - an electrified crossover, which will be sold at Huawei’s flagship stores in China. OK to be precise, the vehicle is not designed entirely by Huawei as it’s actually an updated version of the existing SF5 crossover, which made its original debut two years ago in Shanghai. Huawei says it has helped automotive company Seres with the development of the powertrain, which consists of a 1.5-liter gas engine and two electric motors. The combined output of the system is reportedly about 550 horsepower (410 kilowatts), which should be enough for a 0-62 miles per hour (0-100 kilometers per hour) acceleration in just 4.7 seconds. More importantly, Huawei promises the plug-in hybrid can travel up to 112 miles (180 kilometers) on purely electric energy, though it’s important to note that this is measured by China’s somewhat generous test cycle. With the battery fully charged and the fuel tank full, the SF5 should be capable of a range of over 621 miles (1,000 km) in “extended range mode for long distance travelers.” Huawei’s input is probably more visible inside the cabin where there’s a large tablet-style screen for the infotainment system. The company says it has paid special attention to the crossover’s audio system, which consists of 11 sound units to deliver “opera-like sound quality.” Another interesting feature of the SF5 is the vehicle-to-vehicle charging function, which can power other vehicles or external devices such as induction cookers, stereos, and other camping equipment. "This exciting announcement sets a precedent for both the consumer electronics industry and the new energy vehicle industry,” Richard Yu, Executive Director at Huawei, commented. “In the future, we will not only provide leading smart car solutions to help partners build better intelligent vehicles, but also help them sell those vehicles through our retail network across China." Speaking of China, Huawei is already accepting orders for the SF5 in the People’s Republic with prices starting at 246,800 RMB (~S$50K at the current exchange rates) for the 4WD model and 216,800 RMB ($44K) for the 2WD variant.

Hi all, I'm new here with a recent purchase of the avante S model. Since the purchase, there has been a creaking sound from the under carriage on the driver side. Only can be heard at 100km/h or above. I sent it in for a check and the mechanic said he tightened some bolt at the under carriage and asked me to monitor. Even after this, the sound is still there. Anyone encountered this? Apologies if this has been raised before as I have not read through the entire thread yet. Thanks 🙏

Targa: The Best of Both Worlds Porsche completes its sports car trio in time for summer: following on from the Coupé and Cabriolet, the third body variant of the new 911 generation now makes its debut with the all-wheel drive Porsche 911 Targa 4 and 911 Targa 4S models. The distinguishing feature of the Targa remains its innovative, fully automatic roof system and, just like the legendary original Targa model from 1965, it features a characteristic wide roll hoop, a movable roof section above the front seats and a wraparound rear window. The roof can be comfortably opened and closed in just 19 seconds. It is powered by a six-cylinder, three-litre boxer engine with twin turbochargers: the Porsche 911 Targa 4 now delivers 283 kW (385 PS) and, in combination with the optional Sport Chrono package, accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds - one tenth faster than before. The engine in the 911 Targa 4S boasts 331 kW (450 PS) and reaches the 100 km/h mark in just 3.6 seconds under the same conditions - four tenths faster than its predecessor. Top speed of the 911 Targa 4 is 289 km/h (up two km/h), while the 4S peaks at 304 km/h (up three km/h). Both sports cars are fitted with eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and intelligent all-wheel drive Porsche Traction Management (PTM) as standard to deliver maximum driving pleasure. Alternatively, the 911 Targa 4S can be ordered with the newly developed seven-speed manual gearbox, with which the Sport Chrono package is included. Efficient biturbo boxer engine Like the 911 Carrera models, both Porsche 911 Targa variants profit from the increase in power provided by the turbocharged three-litre six-cylinder boxer engines. Both performance and everyday usability benefit as a result. The engine in the 911 Targa 4 produces 283 kW (385 PS) at 6,500 rpm, which is 11 kW (15 PS) more than its predecessor. Maximum torque of 450 newton metres is delivered across a wide engine speed range of between 1,950 and 5,000 rpm. With 331 kW (450 PS), the 911 Targa 4S delivers 22 kW (30 PS) more output than its predecessor and generates maximum torque of 530 Nm (up 30 Nm) between 2,300 and 5,000 rpm. Optimised all-wheel drive for better traction The enhanced performance of the new all-wheel drive models goes hand-in-hand with further development of the front-axle drive. The clutch and differential unit is water-cooled and has reinforced clutch discs for greater robustness and a higher load capacity. The increased actuating torque at the clutch improves its adjustment accuracy and the function of the additional front-axle drive. Overall, the enhanced front-axle drive with PTM (Porsche Traction Management) contributes to even better traction in all road conditions. Further developed chassis for more comfort and safety The electronically controlled variable damping system PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) is part of the standard equipment on the new 911 Targa models. This system automatically adjusts the damping characteristics in terms of driving comfort and handling to each driving situation and has two manually adjustable maps, Normal and Sport. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), which includes an electronic rear differential lock with fully variable torque distribution, is added as standard equipment for the Targa 4S and is available as an option on the Targa 4. Like the other eighth generation Porsche 911 variants, the Targa models are also equipped with Porsche Wet mode as standard. Sensors fitted in the front wheel housings are capable of detecting water on the road surface and, if significant volumes of water are picked up, a signal in the cockpit provides a recommendation for the driver to manually switch to Wet mode. The drive responsiveness is then adapted to the conditions to guarantee maximum driving stability. The driving dynamics setup for the 911 Targa 4 includes 235/40 ZR tyres on 19-inch alloy wheels on the front axle and 295/35 ZR tyres on 20-inch wheels on the rear axle. As standard, the 4S model is fitted with 245/35 ZR tyres on its 20-inch front wheels and 305/30 ZR tyres on its 21-inch rears. On the Targa 4, deceleration is taken care of on both axles by 330-millimetre brake discs with black four-piston monobloc fixed callipers. The red-painted brake callipers on the Targa 4S have six pistons at the front axle, four at the rear while its discs measure 350 mm front and rear. The Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) can be ordered as an option. Extravagant Targa design with a modern interpretation The exterior of the Porsche 911 Targa is characterised by the design elements of its 992 model generation. Compared to its predecessors, its body features significantly more pronounced wheel housings at the front and, between its LED headlights, its bonnet has a distinctive recess evoking the design of the first 911 generations. Its rear is dominated by its wider, variably extending rear spoiler and seamlessly integrated, elegant light bar. With the exception of the front and rear sections, the entire outer skin is made from aluminium. The interior echoes the 911 Carrera models and is characterised by the clear and straight lines of its dashboard and its recessed instruments. The 911 models from the 1970s provided the inspiration here. Alongside the central rev counter - very much a defining feature for Porsche - two thin, frameless freeform displays extend the information provided to the driver. A compact switch unit with five buttons for direct access to important vehicle functions is located below the 10.9-inch centre screen of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM). The standard PCM features include online navigation based on swarm data as well as Connect Plus with Apple Car Play. The model for a new class of sports cars since 1965 The 1965 911 Targa 2.0 was a trailblazer for a whole new type of car. Originally marketed as a "safety cabriolet with anti-roll bar", the Targa, with its detachable roof, soon established itself as an independent concept and indeed became a style icon. Right through to the present day, Porsche has continued to combine two worlds in the 911 Targa: the advantages of open-top driving in a cabriolet combined with the everyday comfort and safety of a coupé. It'll borrow design cues from the redesigned Nissan Juke while taking inspiration from Nissan's IMQ concept. You can see the Juke's influence at the rear with the prominent rear quarter panels and sloping hatch glass. The interior is expected to receive a major overhaul with a new dashboard design and a revamped infotainment system. Nissan will begin focusing on electric vehicles instead, using two new hybrid systems. One is suspected to be the company's ePower system that pairs a gasoline engine with batteries and an electric motor. The other could be a plug-in hybrid system relying on Mitsubishi's experience in the arena. Other gasoline engines will likely feature mild-hybrid setups to increase efficiency.

Taking this off the 2020 thread, who wants to predict which cars will sell well in the current economic climate? IMO, if the economy isn't doing too well, the brands with larger margins like the conti premium marques will fair better. The up and coming cars with a higher price tag will have to fight with the traditional best sellers. Budget buyers will opt for lower cost cars from the more peripheral brands, as well as the PI cars. But for those opting for PI cars, make sure your T&C is watertight. With COEs diminishing in quantity, the cost will go up and if the deal looks too good, beware and think twice in case you get convinced and come to complain how the seller didn't deliver. It's sometimes not the fault of the PI or AD, they will have to compete with others with larger bidding limits. So, I'll venture to say, the top 6 won't change much, maybe we will see some KIA as they launch new models, and if the new EVs reach us, they may boost the numbers for Hyundai. But the Audis, Mercs and BMWs will dominate the top 5 for a few years to come until the COE drought gets better.

Finally a new flagship by Citroën worth looking forward to? The new shape somewhat reminds me of unconventional looking Renault Vel Satis... Approximately three years ago, Citroen said the successor of the C5 will have an unconventional shape and will basically “reinvent” the traditional sedan. At the time, the automaker didn’t share much but said the production model will draw inspiration from the fabulous Cxperience Concept. Today, finally, we can share the first spy photos of the next-generation C5, showing what Citroen had in mind. From the spyshots, Citroen is keeping its promise and the new C5 will have a very unique shape. It’s not exactly a station wagon, and it’s not exactly a hatchback. It’s definitely not a sedan, too. The mix between different body styles gives the new C5 a prominent profile and the first impressions are for a large and comfortable car. It’s worth noting that there seems to be a strong visual connection between the production model and the concept from 2016. This holds true especially at the back where the taillights appear to have a very similar shape. It’ll be very interesting to see whether that fat D-pillar has a large window like on the Cxperience Concept.
