This little bit of news is for those of you who are curious on how fast the Audi R8 GT really is. Sport Auto magazine, a German publication did their acclaimed 'Supertest' on the R8 GT which usually includes a VERY hot lap around the Nurburgring Nordschleife. The laps round the Nurburgring are conducted by their absolutely famous test driver/chief editor, Horst Von Saurma (who turned 56 last August) is considered as benchmark times for the respective vehicles tested. Released in May 2010 the Audi R8 GT is the fastest Audi to date. The weight of the R8 GT has been reduced by 100 kg to 1,525 kg. The power from the 5.2liter V10 has also been increased to 552 bhp which gives the car 362 bhp per ton. Because of these changes the R8 GT has a top speed of 320 km/h and goes from 0-60 in 3.6 seconds, 0.3 faster than the R8 V10. The car also features some visual changes including red brake caliper covers, a fixed rear wing, front bumper mounted winglets and GT badges replacing the V10 ones. Only 333 Audi R8 GTs will be made (or has been made to date). Anyway, the R8 GT lapped the Nurburgring in 7minutes 34seconds, which is actually a second slower than the latest 444bhp 3.8liter Porsche 911 GT3 RS. The lap time is also slower than Porsche's monstrous 612bhp 911 GT2 RS which Von Saurma did in 7minutes 24seconds. The supertest of the R8 GT is featured in the December 2010 issue, which is already on sale over in Germany. So, are you still dreaming of that R8 GT or are you now back again with Team Porsche? -2010 911 GT3 RS- -2010 911 GT2 RS- source:SportAuto via Autoblog.es

From what you've read earlier Porsche have just come up with an RS version of the 911 GT2. When Porsche uses the RS tagline, it usually means more power and less weight resulting in an ultra focused driver vehicle. When Porsche came out with the GT2 everyone was amazed that it only had rear wheel drive to power over 600bhp. So when you combined both the GT2 and the RS tags, it becomes nuclear. Of course, if you are in America, rich and impatient till you cannot wait for the RS or think that the RS is still too wimpy for you, you can head to Switzer Performance and get your current model 911 GT2 pumped up even more. Ohio based Switzer claims that their 911 GT2 makes a nice Porsche 911 sounding figure of....911bhp. Switzer sounds very like it may be run by some Germans as it seems the humor is in line with what people at RUF, Gemballa or TechArt do. I mean only the Germans are a stickler for detail and would think
