  1. STOMPer Nelson came across a Singapore-registered car in Malaysia which he says, has been left unattended for about three months. The STOMPer hopes the photo will help the owner locate his or her car. Said the STOMPer: "This picture was taken in Selangor, Malaysia (the Puchong area near Bandar Puteri), about 10 minutes' drive from Sunway Lagoon Resort. "I have seen this Singapore-registered vehicle being parked at this place for almost 2 to 3 months, unattended. "I think this picture might help the owner of this vehicle locate his or her car." Should you have any information regarding the owner of this vehicle, please contact STOMP at [email protected]
  2. Baby abandoned at Malaysian villager's doorstep, with poignant note https://www.asiaone.com/malaysia/baby-abandoned-malaysian-villagers-doorstep-poignant-note KOTA KINABALU - A mother, apparently desperate to see her newborn son have a better life, left him at a villager's doorstep in Kota Belud some 70km from here early Sunday (June 30). The mother left a note asking for a woman of the house, a "Sumarti", to care for her child whom she had named Yusof. The mother's note said that the baby was born a day earlier and he had not drunk a drop of milk since his birth, as she was unable to lactate. The mother also wrote that she was unable to bring the child for vaccination, buy milk formula, diapers or anything for her baby, and that she was not capable of raising the child. The woman did not leave her name on the letter, but she seems to know the family as she wrote that she was sure "Sumarti" would be able to provide for the child and give him the love that he deserves. The last part of her letter read, "I want someone to love Yusof. I, as a mother, have failed to care for Yusof. Yusof has been very thirsty and hungry since early morning". Kota Belud police chief Supt Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said in the 5.30am incident, the woman Sumarti was woken up by her mother who had heard a baby crying outside their house. "Sumarti read the note and checked for injuries on the baby," he said when contacted Monday (July 1). Sumarti brought the baby to the police station and lodged a report at about 8.57am. upt Mohd Zaidi said Sumarti does not know of anyone in the village who had just given birth, and said she is unsure who left the child at her doorstep. He said policemen took the baby for a medical examination and welfare officials were alerted. He said the baby was found to be healthy and has been handed over to welfare officials for further action. It is unclear at this moment whether Sumarti will adopt the baby. The matter was posted on Facebook page Irranun Peace, which saw hundreds of users expressing their best wishes for the child and praising the mother who did not dump her baby and leave him to die. There were also quite a number of people who asked if they could adopt the child.
  3. only for the brave and daring... who wanna go explore? Highland Towers, Selangor - collapsed in 1993, caused by major landslides - 48 died in the disaster - abandoned since then https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gw1g6S4XqCw Mimaland, Selangor - Malaysia's Jurassic Park - opened in 1971, closed in 1994 - a Singaporean was killed in an accident in the pool in 1993 - abandoned since then https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bGaJozgpLs
  4. A Mitsubishi car was found 'abandoned' in the basement car-park lot of a condo in Sengkang. The car has been unmoved from its present lot for a few weeks. The car does not belong to a resident of the condo, as there was no condo car disc pasted on the window screen. The car plate number is SGE2933K, and according to reply to a query using the LTA website, this car has been de-registered. The Road Tax disc shows "14 Sep 2015". Assuming that the car owner has paid another 6-months of road tax, but failed to replace the outdated road tax disc on the windscreen, the car will have reached its 10-year life span on 14 Mar 2016 (just about right for a SGE car plate number). According to LTA: Failing to submit disposal documents of a de-registered vehicle Offenders who fail to submit disposal documents as proof that the vehicle has been scrapped, exported, or sent to EPZ for storage, within a month from its de-registration may be prosecuted in Court, and face a maximum Court fine of $2,000 or 3 months' imprisonment. Similarly, first time offenders who are found keeping a de-registered vehicle may be prosecuted in Court, and face a maximum Court fine of $2,000 or 3 months' imprisonment. The deadline to sent the car for disposal is by 14 May (within 1 month), or the car owner runs foul of the law. It is hoped that the car owner does not forget about this.

  6. By Melody Zaccheus SINGAPORE - A reservoir the size of three badminton courts dating back to 1905 has been discovered by the National Heritage Board. Located off Telok Blangah Road, and not marked out in maps today, it served as a source of water for the Tanjong Pagar Dock. The reservoir, which is an oasis of calm and a green pocket in the built up area, also used to be a swimming pool during the Japanese Occupation, according to Japanese maps of Singapore. Remnants of a diving board and a bathing area still stand today. The place, known to some as the Keppel Hill Reservoir, made the news when two soldiers and a 17-year-old boy drowned there on two occasions in 1936 and 1948. The 2m deep pool of water, which has a working filtration system today, was discovered by a team of researchers from the board in February. The team spent four months piecing together more details about the site from old maps and news stories. A documentary on the place will be uploaded on its website on Thursday. http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/more-singapore-stories/story/abandoned-reservoir-telok-blangah-road-discovered-201409#3

  8. http://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/fit-to-post...-025253547.html Remember the poor Ferrari Enzo supercar abandoned in Dubai last August? Well, it's still sitting in the same police impound lot we last saw it in, but it may have a bright future ahead. The Enzo, along with several other exotics, is to be auctioned off in what the Daily Mail, via Jalopnik, claims is the most expensive police sale in history. The person who abandoned the car is believed to be a British citizen who leased the Ferrari and then fled Dubai 20 months ago when they couldn't afford the repayments and traffic fines. It's not uncommon to face jail time in Dubai for outstanding debts so we tend to see some financed vehicles abandoned, either at airport car parks or even the owner's former place of residence. However, it's extremely rare--and sad--to see something like a Ferrari Enzo left abandoned. Other cars seized by authorizes in Dubai and set to be auctioned include some that were stolen and others that were abandoned after they were involved in accidents. Under local laws, any car left for more than six months becomes property of the state unless a clear title can be produced and there are no outstanding fines. Ferrari Enzo supercars, of which only 399 were built for public sale, typically fetch up to a million dollars or more on the open market. It's not clear who much this example will go for, though it should still be a princely sum despite the poor condition the car must be in.

  11. Owning or seeing a car that is beyond 20 years of age is something rare on this island and even if you get to see one, it would probably be in a poor condition. In a small Canadian town there are two 20 year-old cars that were left untouched. Want to know more? Read on. In Oakville, Ontario there is a BMW dealership that has been abandoned for more than two decades. Inside its showroom lie two mint-looking BMW cars, frozen in time. Local reports showed that this particular dealership had its licence revoked, for unknown reasons, in 1988. The company shifted to Toronto and set up a new dealership there which closed in 2002. The owner seems not interested in selling the place, including its inventory and had left everything behind intact. Located inside the showroom are two cars, an E28 5-series and an E24 635 csi, in rather mint condition. Probably some parts have given way, such as rubber seals and other mechanical parts. An interesting find was that the 635 csi has only double digits on its odometer. The interior design of the showroom and the furniture left inside also suggests that they were something from the 1980s. And that is not all; around the back is the workshop left behind similar to the showroom. Inventory, tools and parts remained completely untouched. It is as though as this is the place where time has forgot. Photo credit : Jalopnik
  12. STOMPer Ng spotted this Singapore-registered car at a carpark in Kuala Lumpur and wonders if the owner is aware that the car is there. The STOMPer wrote: "While on a business trip two weeks back, I saw this Singapore-registered car that was parked at the Crowne Plaza Mutiara Hotel Carpark in KL. "From the looks of it, it seems that the car was parked there for more than a year since the road tax already expired on June 2009. And there was a thick layer of dust on the body of the car. "Hope this post will help the owner find the car." http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...kl_carpark.html

  15. Recently I came to take notice of a house that seems to be abandoned - 297 Upper East Coast Road. It is of latest modern design, completely rebuilt, yet is in very bad condition with fallen leaves everywhere in its front yard. Never see anybody in the house at night for a long stretch already. I am sure it will find a lot of interested buyers if put in market due to its modern architectural outlook. Is anybody in the know willing to provide any information why it is in this state?
  16. it was so sad, the poor thing, lying stranded on the TPE just at the bottom of the Punggol Road on ramp...forlorn. It was all alone, just left there blinking away, nobody to help it or give it comfort.... The poor Toyota Wish, it had a flat, I stopped to help but the driver had just abandoned it, left it there with the hazard lights on, go I dunno where. How to help you like that? I woulda changed the tyre for you, risking life and limb on the busy expressway, but no - you had just left you poor baby there all alone
