  1. Hi, Just wonder, what do u guys think is the best ways to sell car so that I can fetch the highest price. Will some dealers able to match the price equivalent to selling direct? The problem about selling direct to buyers is the transaction of money, car test drive etc... Unwilling to part with my almost 3 yrs civic but my car is under utilised nowadays.

  3. Been using Samsung Fold 3 for close to 2 years. Love it so far as everything is very stable, but always worried about failure of folding hinge mechanism which was replaced once by Samsung Singapore recently out of warranty after some dispute. Another pain is the very narrow front display which make typing difficult and frustrating, especially when need to type fast. Understand the rationale for it - narrow form factor make secure handling + proper aspect ratio of inner display for viewing + front cover meant for simple tasks like checking messages and phone calls and to use inner display for life tasks. But really hard to convince myself so have been on the look out for suitable alternative. Pixel Fold - too ex and apps not optimised despite a Google phone especially power consumption Oppo Find N2 - inner display too small at only 7.1" Honor Magic V2 - hinge design is sub standard Been thinking to get Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 which was launched on 14 Aug this year which seems to have everything that I like and more, and finally bite the bullet while in Beijing recently. The motivation was the S$300 saving comparing to get locally from Shopee which need to do pre-order. No warranty anyway haha. The first thing to do had been to try to install all the normal Google apps like Play Store and Google Map and Chrome and Gmail etc etc. Was thinking would be challenging since this is China ROM. But ended up pretty easy. Just need to download apk for Play Store from APKPure, then everything just install through the Pay Store app. Really no sweat. To transfer phone contents, just download Mi Mover which works similarly like Smart Switch for Samsung. First impression really great. Much better camera with Leica colours and very versatile zoom lenses of upto 5x optical zoom. Excellent battery life even if using inner display all the way. The Samsung E6 displays used has similar consumption for both inner and cover display, something that defy normal understanding since the inner display is so much bigger. And the battery operating time is even better than Samsung Fold 5 even though both uses Samsung displays. GSMArena tested it to yield 115hrs while Fold 5 only can last 95hrs. But of course there are negative experiences though only few, Found a minor glitch in Whatsapp that at times will display phone numbers instead of names. Irritating, but solved after changing the permission to allow always reading the contacts. Be prepared for such minor issues as this is not a international ROM after all. And so far Android Auto still cannot work. Maybe Xiaomi never pay for licenses to use as it is meant for China market, but not a deal breaker lah. Worse case hang it on top of dashboard if need to use it to do navigation. If keen, there are tonnes of youtube videos on this device right now, with some from outside China. Go do research and decide for yourself. Samsung Fold 5 is good and a safe choice, but the narrow front cover is really not easy to live with for many people unless you can type very comfortably with it. I would have gladly stick to it if that is the case haha to be frank.

  6. What kind of air re freshener have you tried to put in your car? I have tried. . . Does smell good. Value for money. Smell too strong, and block my air-con vent. Don't really like. Best fragrances ever. Like the smell. But have to change every few days. Park in open-space, so leave dries up very fast. Bought this during the petexpo2014, after 2 days no more smell alrd. But still in my car for keepsake purpose. Anyone have better or more powerful air refreshener to share????
  7. https://www.archer-soft.com/en/node/329 7 Best OBD2 (Android/IOS) apps For Your Car in 2017 Modern cars have the capacity of a few computers, are tooled with software that contains of millions of lines of programming code and produce gigabytes of data, but they are still different from connected cars. A smart vehicle is able to optimize its performance to reduce fuel consumption, show the best path to follow taking into account current traffic and weather conditions, detect errors in the engine and collect information data to negotiate lower insurance rates. Most cars and light trucks are equipped with on-board diagnostics, or an OBD II port that provides access to data from the engine control unit (ECU). To get the information you need to plug in an external device. The OBD-II specifications provide a standardized hardware interface - a female 16-pin (2x8) J1962 connector, so a single external device can be used for most car models. It also should have an Internet connection to transfer the collected data. To handle all information collected from OBD2 device you still need on-board diagnostics app for car. Here are 7 best OBD apps you can find that will help you to maintain the performance of your car. You can find some of the best obd2 app for different platforms: Android obd app and iphone obd app. Let’s review them, their advantages and disadvantages. Here are the most popular auto diagnostic OBD apps for Android: 1. Torque Pro (OBD 2 & Car) One of the most popular obd2 app for android reader application in the Play Store, Torque Pro showes a broad list of features and detectors supported, and the numerous widgets and plug-ins that use it as base, giving more of functionality. See your car's activity in realtime, get OBD code faults, vehicle productivity, sensor’s info and other. Torque is a vehicle efficiency/diagnostics instrument that uses the OBD II Bluetooth adapter connected to OBD2 engine control/ECU. You can make customized dashboard with the widgets in application. The app uses the GPS to allow tracker log with OBD engine logging to see what your car was doing at any period of time. It also shows and resets a DTC/CEL/fault code like a scanner. Torque helps you to fix your car and reduce repair costs. Other Torque features: Dyno/Dynomometer and Horsepower/HP It reads the temperature of transmission speed timings - it became more accurate than via GPS CO2 emissions indicators Custom dashboard User profiles Automatically GPS tagged tweets Big fault code database and fault codes history Supports different color themes Available to send logging information directly to web or email for analysis HUD mode for night mode driving GPS Speedometer and compass in real time Turbo boost for vehicles that support MAP and MAF Voice alarms Car dock maintenance Allows to share application screenshots to Facebook, Twitter, Google+, e-mail, etc A simple interface for developers for AIDL API for third party apps Supports tablet devices Works on different vehicles that use OBDII bluetooth adapters (almost all vehicles produced after 2000). Common problems with Torque Pro: High battery consumption. Incompatible with some cars We think high battery consumption can be a great obstacle to use this software. Every software development team should pay attention to customer’s reviews. For example, here in Archer Software we either follow our client’s specification or we make sure that our software solutions are environmentally friendly. We advice to read our 5 things you need to know before developing the car app. 2. It enables to draw charts with real-time data. Car Doctor checks engine light control: reads and clears stored error codes and related data. Features: Real-time vehicle indicators: speed, angle of rotation, temperature, pressure and other sensors Chart drawing with real-time data Check engine light control: error codes and related freeze frame data Records of parameters in real time Allows to read and display multiple parameters Recording of parameters in background View and send recorded parameters GPS supported Fuel Economy parameters Allows to store and share DTC data Fuel consumption in time periods Common problems here: Unstable connection with cheap adapters To clean up errors, you need additional step-by-step manipulations Problems with Bluetooth connection We advice other software development companies to make stability improvements in every released version like we do in Archer Software. We think it is the key to the success. 4. Carista OBD2 Carista OBD2 lets you to personify your car by improve its electronical options. 8. 1. A motor insurance may be cheap, eg. DirectAsia (this is my current plan after I've switched from AAS available insurance plans since 2+ years ago). However, I have recently been told that when it comes to claims, there seems to be fineprints that void certain claims, eg. windscreen. 2. My NCD is 50% discount and I am thinking thrice now about renewing with DirectAsia - because in case I have claims, I don't want to be caught by it's fineprints. 3. This survey is to crowdsource motor insurance claim experiences from fellow forumers who have had at least 1 claim and would appreciate if you can reply by stating these information: (a) Name of Insurance company (and the motor plan if you recall, if not nevermind) (b) Give a score of between -10 to +10 (where the extreme -10 is no claim despite your situation being seemingly a valid claim, and +10 if your claim process is a smooth and quick claim with bare minimum fuss) © Optional: Which year? (if you remember) (d) Optional: You may also choose to elaborate your score, esp. if it's very negative or very positive - optional. 4. 14. Taking this off the 2020 thread, who wants to predict which cars will sell well in the current economic climate? IMO, if the economy isn't doing too well, the brands with larger margins like the conti premium marques will fair better. The up and coming cars with a higher price tag will have to fight with the traditional best sellers. Budget buyers will opt for lower cost cars from the more peripheral brands, as well as the PI cars. But for those opting for PI cars, make sure your T&C is watertight. With COEs diminishing in quantity, the cost will go up and if the deal looks too good, beware and think twice in case you get convinced and come to complain how the seller didn't deliver. It's sometimes not the fault of the PI or AD, they will have to compete with others with larger bidding limits. So, I'll venture to say, the top 6 won't change much, maybe we will see some KIA as they launch new models, and if the new EVs reach us, they may boost the numbers for Hyundai. But the Audis, Mercs and BMWs will dominate the top 5 for a few years to come until the COE drought gets better.
  15. Hi All bro, I looking for a name card scanner... anyone has anything to recommend?? thanks all

  17. We had so much fun talking about this last year, with supporters and haters of various brands coming out of the woodwork.. Should we fear starting a topic on this? Nah... Like Nike, Just Do It 😉 So which cars will feature in the top ten? How about the brands? Which ones will be top again? IMO, the top brands won't change much: Toyota, Honda, Merc and Hyundai will be there. Who else will be interesting to watch, as the fortunes of the various brands have changed a lot over the last year. Nissan would have been there a few years back when they had the QQ, the darling of the local market five years ago, but no longer so. The Subaru Forrester used to sell very well, but let's see if the current version can do the same too. Come come, send in your predictions, but this is no EDMW, so let's keep it civil 🙂

  20. For those who like to take to the social media and air your displeasure whenever you encountered some annoying situation, is that all you can do? Let me introduce you to this short video... Please pause the video before the 0:50 mark, and think of what would you do if you face a similar situation as this guy... "Every night I would get an alert from my driveway security camera, and at first I was a bit annoyed, but then I found myself looking forward to the evening alert. And then inspiration struck, in the form of my wife giving me this great idea. What transpired has turned into the best part of an otherwise dreary pandemic summer," wrote CanyonChasers on his YouTube post. So what was his solution? Maybe you have already seen the whole video clip, but here's what he did, which has also won him a lot of praises from his neighbors and netizens. He painted a race track on his driveway with chalk so that the kid could follow and ride through it. Every time it rain and the "track" got washed off, he would paint a new and more elaborate one. He even started to put words of encouragement on it. The track soon proved to be very popular, attracting even adults to test their riding skill... The news and video eventually reach a senior executive at NBC, who reached out to both the YouTuber and the kid to give them NASCAR merchandise from official drivers. Talk about a happy ending for all! So the next time when an unpleasant situation pops up, give yourself a little time to think if you can transform your problem into something better, maybe not as interesting or entertaining as what this guy did, but at least something which could have save your day.
  21. Hi Appreciate if you can share your experience, recommendation or advice should you have had this similar problem I'm facing now........ Hired a 9 yrs experienced Indonesia maid - paid more hoping she can help my wife........Maid arrived & complained not happy, wanna transfer on her 3rd day. Called maid agency....... was told to hold on to her, no new Biodata available yet. Waited & waited, while bearing with her bad, 'bochap' attitude towards us despite treating her like one of our family.... makans, short tour, outings etc. Of course, gotta bear with her mistakes made........ she spoiled 2 TVs by wiping with wet cloth, choked toilet pipe & many others. Despite lecturing her, she continued her 'bochap' attitude. On the 4th week, she ran away (w/o our knowledge) to the agency & accused that my wife slapped her. Last I heard from maid agency that police report was made by them & she is now under investigation. I guess she's now either in the Home or agency's lodge. Obviously, agency is not helping us at all, for all this matter! We (me & wife) are concerned but not worry in proving our innocence. Yes, my wife chided her at times on her mistakes, but we do not lay hands on her! We lodged a police report for our perusal to further actions, if needed. Called MOM, they adviced to speak with concerned IOfficer for permission to cancel WPermit. Called police, they dunno if any abovementioned report was made against us, just asked us to wait . . . Called maid agency, I summarized the answer: 'no disclosure until investigation ends' Now, what can we do besides waiting........ WPermit is still under my name, I'm still liable for her & I'm sure there will be $$$ charged onto me during this 'investigation period'. Your Best Advice Please. . . . .
  22. Hi all, anyone know any place with nice wantan mee? So far, the 2 best wantan mee for me is: 137 Tampines round market - been eating it for over 10 years Lavender food court These 2 places are the best to me so far.
  23. The compact SUV segment is the probably the most competitive segment in the market today, with superb new entries such as the new CR-V (my personal favourite), new Tiguan, new CX-5, highly acclaimed Sportage, Tucson, facelifted X-Trail, Forester etc. And pricing in Singapore spans from SGD110k-ish for base versions of Forester/Tucson to almost SGD200k for the Tiguan R-line. Putting aside the question of which is best, I wondered which is best value. Because of differing AD margins, OMV games, and pricing dynamics due to strong brand loyalties, the car pricing in Singapore can be quite out of line with the rest of the world. I wanted to figure out, for instance, how fair is the SGD160k being asked for the new CR-V, Tiguan etc? Have set out the summary table in the spreadsheet link below, and the methodology below that. There are many possible methodologies, but this is a quick and dirty one that appears to provide reasonably defensible conclusions. Essentially, the quick and dirty conclusions appear to be:- 1. Median SUV is Nissan X-Trail, which is priced about at the average price of the segment for both Singapore and Australia 2. Best value compact SUVs in SIngapore are - Forester XT: Priced 8% above average in Australia and 9% below average in Singapore - Sportage 2.0 GT: Priced 7% above average in Australia and 10% below average in Singapore 3. For the new SUVs: - CR-V: the 7 seater CR-V is considerably better value that the 5-seater. - Tiguan 1.4: Not great value if priced at SGD160k. In Australia, this is priced below the equivalent X-Trail. - CX-5: Best value for a new SUV. It was an interesting experiment for me, so thought I'd share the conclusions above. Am not saying this is the definitive guide, but its a useful perspective. Spreadsheet link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Nh8lN2guUJ6dh_Nt53i2zQMaW3wSCTB-v1lItsz88Z0/edit?usp=sharing Methodology:- 1. Australia pricing was used as the comp set because:- - Both RHD countries - Both countries import all the cars being compared, so no local content taxation distortions - All cars compared are non-luxury models, so no luxury tax considerations in Australia - All are Cat B cars, so no COE distortions in Singapore 2. Used mid to high spec cars for comps - Pricing range is between AUD35 to 42k - No point comparing poverty spec versions because the versions sold in Singapore are all mid to high spec 3. Compared cars using identical / similar spec levels in both countries - Had to make some manual adjustments for engine/features set differential in Australia for some cars 4. Used recommended retail price in Australia, and listed in Singapore - For Forester XT, last known pricing was about SGD127k, but other cars are mostly listed price - Can amend spreadsheet if anyone can provide updated numbers
