  1. You know what? It fits how we use other expensive things like phones, wallets etc to chope our tables and seats. This is just the natural evolution. What happened? An auntie in Star Vista parking lot yesterday pulled off a 1 v 5 clutch against other drivers to chope a parking lot for a Nissan Sylphy, of which she was the passenger of. According to the person who submitted the video, they had been waiting in the lot for around 20-30 min before finally seeing a car driving out of the lot. They were excited to finally be able to park until they saw the auntie “happily walking and standing in the lot”. This meme came to mind: They thought the auntie was simply going to stand around for a bit until they tried to reverse and found the auntie still not moving. At this point, “I know this auntie want to be famous alr.” Asking the auntie to move nicely (supposedly), she insisted that her car was coming and that she got here first. I think she also said “what you want me to do?”, but the background noise is too loud to hear clearly so hear for yourselves. The recorder found that another driver was leaving at this time and chose to relent. Online chatter There’s a common adjective used to describe this kind of behaviour. Some also criticised the act of chopeing parking lots. Others gave some… interesting solutions that they would have done had they been there. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. TL;DR - This middle-aged woman was standing in front of a car park lot at AMK in an attempt to reserve the lot for a Mitsubishi Lancer. If you didn't know, 'chope' basically means to reserve/declaring that its yours. Singaporeans often use tissue packets to 'chope' seats at free-seating areas such as hawker centres. Watch this 36-second clip to see how this woman stood there to be a human tissue packet. What happened? This lady stood in front of a parking lot at AMK Hub so that her Mitsubishi Lancer could get the lot. It was said that there were many empty lots around the mall, somehow this one in particular is the chosen one. Also probably because it's the one nearest to the entrance of AMK Hub. I guess Singaporeans no longer use tissue packets to 'chope', we now use our bodies...? Online Chatter I wonder just how many times she has done this. Takeaway Please do not allow/ask your family and friends to hog the lots, especially not in this way. It is extremely dangerous as other vehicles may not see them standing there, which can lead to dire consequences. Wait a little longer or make a few more rounds, you will find one soon - slow and steady wins the race! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. The 'chope-ing' culture is prominent in Singapore and it is usually observed when dining out at coffee shops or hawker centres. And unfortunately, this toxic culture has been shaped to be part of the Singapore identity. Watch the product of our toxic culture unfold before your very eyes: What Happened? This incident occurred at an open-air carpark at Block 114 Geylang Lorong 3. Two 'ah-mas' stood in a vacant white parking lot to 'chope' in a supposedly crowded carpark. As a result, they prevented a mini-van from parking at the vacant lot, which indirectly obstructed the traffic flow in the carpark. The van driver then alights from his vehicle to film the elderly ladies' absurd actions. Due to the obstruction, vehicles started piling up behind the mini-van. Toxic and Self-Centered Lo and behold, a Chevrolet Sonic rolls up to the parking lot and parks head-first into the lot. The driver, an elderly man, presumably the spouse of either one of the elderly ladies, alights from the car and walks across the carpark. IMO, their act of 'chope-ing' a vacant white lot is nothing but a toxic and self-centred act. Just because they insisted on having that white lot, they wasted the precious time of many other motorists. Oh, well. And those two elderly ladies probably don't have a driving license either. I guess you won't know the woes of a driver if you aren't a driver🤷‍♂️ Ps. For those wondering why the van driver did not park in the other vacant lot beside it, the reason is that it is a season parking lot (red lot). Netizens' Comments Bopian, what to do? Time for them to buy this and 'chope' more lots in the future. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 4. Imagine driving on a busy street where parking is scarce, and you see a vacant parking lot a few cars in front of you. Every driver starts hoping and praying that the cars in front of them don’t take that parking lot. In this case, no one takes that lot. When you’re closer, you realise why. Uncle, why you so kiasu Some overgrown Smurf uncle is standing there reserving the lot for his friend/family/idgaf who. I’m sorry, but “Uncle, this isn’t some Kopitiam where you reserve a table with your tissue.” Here’s the video by SG Road Vigilante, so have a look yourself. Warning – the techno music in cam car might be a little loud for some. Cam car driver’s conversation Cam car driver winds down his window, and we can catch snippets of his conversation with Kiasu Uncle (It would have been a little clearer without the techno). Basic translation from Mandarin to English because my Mandarin CMI “Hello brother, cannot like that reserve parking lot” “My car come here first leh” The uncle replies that his friend/son's car is just behind, and the cam car drives off in a huff hurling a string of profanities that I will not translate here. What the people say Some people think there’s nothing wrong with this Some think otherwise Personally, I think this @#$% should be illegal unless Kiasu Uncle dresses as a tissue box then I've got nothing to say.
  5. In my estate, there is a car owner who always hog two Level 1 lots at the MSCP. Apparently, he has 3 cars (with PHV labels), and always keep two of them at the same isolated Level 1 lots. At times, the same two cars remained there for months. Do you have such neighbours in your MSCP? What is your opinion of such drivers? Personally, I think he has too much money to burn, leaving cars to rot in MSCP.

  7. To start off, the show was not the best of show. How did the producer even think poking fun at the malaysia pm would boost ratings? This is kind of disrespectful for the head of state. https://youtu.be/3RFUw5OYAn4
  8. In recent days commuters in Singapore have cultivated the good habit of forming an orderly line before entering the train at the MRT station, but one auntie ups the ante by queueing -- with her grocery bags. Stomper Safwan spotted a middle-aged woman placing her grocery bags near the doors on the MRT platform yesterday, Jan 28, in a bid to chope her place in the queue before boarding at Ang Mo Kio station. According to him, she had placed her groceries on her floor before proceeding to have a seat. Other commuters, thinking it was some unattended bags, picked them up and tried to move them away or find the owner. The auntie then shouted from her seat, asking them to leave the bags alone and to put them back in their place. She told everyone she just wanted to rest, while still having a place in the queue. The Stomper said: "I find it inappropriate to do this as people might trip over if they don't notice the bags.." All the other commuters then proceeded to queue behind her grocery bags, waiting for the next train to arrive. 9. I see it all the time: people queuing up at the counter while their car is being filled up. When it's their turn to pay and the car is not ready, the cashier will signal for the second chap to move up. When their car is ready, they will be first in the queue. When you have a few people doing it, it sometimes causes congestion and confusion; and everyone is delayed due to the crowd. I only queue up after my car is ready. Am I being stupid or what?
  10. Source: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...t_to_chope.html is it right or wrong? from "chope-ing" hawker centre seats to parking lot?
  11. All of us have heard of people who "chope" seats in hawker centres/coffee shops/libraries etc using tissue paper packs, plastic shopping bags, pack of cigs, newspapers etc. This is the first time I have ever heard of anyone who "chope" a parking lot by just using his eyes........ http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/viewPost6541.aspx Very uniquely Singapore!!!!!!!
