  1. Autoblog.com reported last monday (July 30th) that Toyota is in the process of forming a special committee dedicated to creating interesting cars, mainly because Toyota has no sports cars left in their current line-up. Lexus is of course working on some good stuff, i.e. the IS-F and LF-A, but since the MR2 and Supra, Toyota has only been supplying the non-performance section of the market. So the time has come for the resurrection of the AE86, a Corolla coupe from the 80's. Japanese car magazine Best Car (Japanese language site) has pried loose some initial specs of the AE86: under 4m long, approximately 1,7 m wide, measuring 1,35m from the ground up, target weight lies under 1000kg, will most likely be powered by a 1,5 liter 2NZ-FE engine. Toyota's new partner, Fuji Heavy Industries (or Subaru to most people) will be supplying the RWD drivetrain. Like the Scion xD, which is branded as the Toyota ist in Japan, there is a good possiblity that the AE86 might make it to the USA as a new Scion tC, or as an entirely new Scion budget performance car. Toyota is aiming for a 1.5mil Yen (or $12,300 / under 10,000Euro) price tag. for more pics. visit..
  2. This thread is meant for fellow forumers who have migrated down under or are intending to do so. Those who have, care to share some tips and information about how life is like? What instigated you to do so? Is life really better on the other side? I'm harbouring thoughts of migrating (or quitting, like our government puts it) down under. Life here is getting really suffocating man... no thanks to the influx of people from a certain large Asian country. Starting to feel like a second-rate citizen in my very own country.
  3. Hi all, Thinking of buying a 2nd hand RX8. May I know what are all the maintenance that has to be done for this car? Is it expensive? Also, how is the FC like? Thanks
  4. hi all... all my previous rides even till now... i have always believed in a good oil... i can imagine sludge built up in the engine and i dont want that to happen with a lousy oil used... my last 4 oil services were with OWS NA Racing... i have used before Mobile 1, Shell Helix Ultra, x-REV, spitfire, bizol, KIC oils, liquid moly, idemitsu, Castrol... etc. i have never used mineral or semi-syn oil... always fully syni & I want my car to be fed with oil from at least a company with abit of positive reputation... until lately... i read and found out about many cheap fully syn oils in the supermarkets... so far reviews have been pretty positive... so i thought to myself... OWS NA racing 4liters = $135 (average price) VX Super Syn 5W/40 - 5 liters = $23.80 (promo) schnell is 4 liters german... $29.90 or $39.90 cant remember... c@rlube is 5 liters from UK... ($28.90 with engine flush@Giant) or ($38.90 with oil treatment@carrefour) ($50-$60@autobacs) carrefour also has a full range of the new oil from x-gold or smthing... Giant only 1 from the range but on offer $27 for 5liters basic range one 5W/40. this VX Super Syn is made in SG... i have purchased 1 btl earlier (note this is only at Carrefour Suntec... Plaza Sing dont have) and will change today thursday afternoon... i will just change the oil... no sparkplug change... no cleaning of my air filter, (also no oil filter change cause no tools to take out filter)... thus i can do a proper test with my butt dyno... haha 2.5liters i will need for my sunny... cost=$11.90... for a 5W/40 fully Syn engine oil change... with $135 ... i can change my engine oil 8 times plus 3 oil filters... i hope this oil is really as good as it looks... so far i've heard c@rlube is ok no problems... Schnell is ok and smooth no problems.... and as i am only using it for 5k OR less, i dont forsee problems... i hope. if its ok i might even change every 4k... haha... the thing is nothing beats a 'new engine oil' drive... so if $11.90 is all i need to get it, why not? more clean oil time for my car should be a good thing right? hang on for the results...

  6. THINKWARE / INAVI users, any feedback from you. Installed mine THINKWARE INAVI FXD700 some 3 weeks ago and was very happy with the unit. Have upgraded to the 'English' version and ha..ha..., missed the sweet Korean voices everytime switch on the unit. Think same voice used in 'English' version but wondering if it is the same girl. As it comes with a rear cam, I had also just installed a small screen to view what had been recording and using the rear cam to assist in reversing. Just curious to find out if there are any other problems users face.

  8. Hi, started this thread to find out more about Thule racks. Would like to request folks who have used Thule racks before to share their experiences. For me, I am currently exploring the possibility of fixing roof racks + roof box onto my Toyota MPV (Sienta). I have some questions that I hope can find some answers. 1) For cars without roof rails, how are Thule racks fixed onto the roof? Is any drilling of hole on the roof required? Read that cars with screw-holes on their rain gutter can be use to fix racks. Is this also possible for Toyota cars? 2) Besides Pro-RV, any other shops in Singapore that sells Thule racks? 3) Any problems that can result from installing roofracks? Eg, water leaking into car from the roof. 4) Any issues with height for entering MSCP? 5) How badly is FC affected with the empty box on, and also with just the rack without box? 6) Is the installation permanent, and cannot remove easily if we don't want the racks in future? 7) They have so many boxes, hard and soft type. Which model of box have you tried and which is good? I guess too big not good too small also not good. 8) The picture I found at the bottom is RV-INNO rack nd box. Any place selling this RV-INNO brand in Spore? Thanks for any contribution.

  13. Wonder why SG doesn't have Mitsubishi Eclipse ? Price should be close to that of a Hyundai Coupe (Tuscani). Car may not be great in terms of engine specs & power. But the body design sure looks beautiful.... Currently in 4th Gen. 5th Gen coming out next year. Looks 10x better than Lancer EX.... Looks better than any EVO (my opinion only hor....) Maybe they should keep that chasis and throw in the EVO system.... MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE 4th GEN 2005-2008

  18. The Straits Times The Straits Times Published on Dec 16, 2011 Printed from straitstimes.com George Yeo joins Kuok Group as vice-chairman of Kerry Group (HK) By Rachel Chang Former foreign minister George Yeo has joined the Kuok Group as vice-chairman of its Hong Kong holding company, Kerry Group. In a post on his Facebook profile, he said the appointment takes effect from Jan 1, 2012, and that he will be based in both Hong Kong and Singapore. The Kerry group - primarily a property firm - also owns a controlling stake of the South China Morning Post, the most successful English-language newspaper in China and Hong Kong. In October, Mr Yeo had taken up a senior adviser role, what he called an 'informal arrangement' in the Kuok Group, a Malaysian conglomerate run by 'sugar king' Robert Kuok. Copyright

  23. How come American Tourists will submit stories to TRS? http://therealsingapore.com/content/gay-tourists-america-shocked-be-openly-discriminated-singapore Dear The Real Singapore, This is a complaint over the ridiculous treatment me and my boyfriend Walter endured during our visit to Singapore. I am an American tourist who holiday-ed in Singapore last month together with my boyfriend of 5 years. We planned for this holiday for ages and finally booked our tickets to this world renown Garden City. After arrival, we took in the beautiful sights and was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness, diverse cultures and food until something happened. All that initial positivity went out of the window when me and my boyfriend were taking a leisurely stroll at the botanic gardens. Out of the blue, a young local boy accompanied by his mother pointed at us and shouted, "mummy... why are the two boys holding hands?" What came next shocked us beyond words. The lady knelt beside her son, hurriedly covered his eyes and exclaimed at the top of her voice "don't look at them, they are abnormal". After which she dragged the puzzled boy away as though we had the plague! We were both dumbfounded at this shockingly bigoted behavior. Apart from the Christian belt in the South, we would never be subject to such blatant discrimination in the USA. Even President Obama , the most influential man in the world has repeatedly called for universal love and equality. It is thus disappointing that despite being a democracy, Singaporeans are still backward in their mindsets and deny minorities the freedom to love. I write in now because our brush with Singaporean's narrow mindedness happened not only once but twice. Shortly after that episode, while Walter and I were cuddling by the riverside at Clarke Quay enjoying the river breeze, a group of rowdy brown skinned goons ran up to us and screamed "f**king faggots" and ran off laughing like hyenas. What's with this trashy behavior Singapore? Why are we being bullied and insulted for our sexuality? We are paying tourists in your country and this is how you treat your guests? For all your beautiful buildings and wonderful infrastructure, the people of Singapore are sorely lacking in common decency and woefully antagonistic towards us. Where is the love Singapore? How can you proclaim yourself a first world nation when such blatant discrimination against sexual minorities still exists?
  24. Dear all, Thank you for your interest in this budget thread on car cam recorder. The price range of car cam can be as cheap as $35 all the way to $450. After reading many post, seem like this technology very not stable a lot problem even the exp one. I know many say is memory card issue. I really like to see and hear from those using the below $150 car cam recorder share their problem and their ups. It will be good if you can provide the brand, model and price too.
