Honda Motor announced it will discontinue production of the 4-door Civic Type R (CTR) at the end of August, 2010. A purist's sports car featuring precisely tuned vehicle dynamics, the Civic Type R creates a unity between car and driver for exceptional driving pleasure.
To fill in the gap vacated by the impending death of the 4 door CTR, Honda will begin sales of a limited edition of the Civic Type R Euro in Japan this fall. It will feature an updated exterior design for the 2010 model year. The Japanese automaker mentions that the Euro CTR is well received by drivers in their 30s to 40s, who value a sports car as part of un upscale lifestyle. The 4 door CTR has always been described as the more 'hardcore' version of the two, with its stiffer suspension higher power output. The 2.0-litre engine in the Euro version makes 198bhp/193Nm, less than the FD2R
