  1. There are many kind of air filters in the market. 1) The stock(OEM) filter is the norm and I believed that many are using it. 2) The open pod filter (or those carbon fiber type) is more to improve power with a broom-broom thingy (eg. K&N, Simota, etc.). 3) The another drop-in filter is like those similar looking to those OEM filter but with added fixtures (eg. metallic wire mash thingy). I thought of changing my air filter and need opinions.. Which air filter will you choose and why?
  2. Anyone knows where to buy HAMP (Honda After Market Parts) oil filters. which is made in USA or Japan ? It is supposedly better than the Honda oil filters that is made in Malaysia.

  8. Anyone know where I can buy Denso filters? I know that Toyota use Denso filter, so I think it may be cheaper to buy Denso instead of original Toyota filters.

  11. I am planning to purchase a water filter for family use. Come across many brands of filters like Diamond, Hyflux, OSIM, etc... Hyflux and OSIM price almost on par and Diamond brand seems the most ex! Diamond brand seems to also have water filters for shower use. Anyone using this brand of water filter? Need feedback before deciding on the purchase. Thanks!
  12. Got a chance to clean my K&N filter, all thanks to the authorised agent for replacing it with a paper filter, and returning the K&N in the original filter box. Dug out my "recharger kit" and think it's like, 5 years old. Now can take my own sweet time to clean the K&N, and air dry thoroughly. Anyone knows if there is an expiry date to the cleaning kit? Can't find any batch number/month/date imprinted on the bottles.
  13. Hi guys. I had routed my air intake to the front 2 months back. Here is the effect. Air intake Luckily using stock filters! Else....
  14. what is the size of it anyway... where to get just the filter only
  15. So many after market air filters out there..... which one to choose from? Being a complete noob..... I wasn't even sure what such kits are good for? So I did a quick research on the net and found a very interesting article on this site http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/ What are the benefits of an Induction Kit? The primary function of an Induction Kit is to clean the air before it enters the engine, but also to provide better air flow to improve the engines power output. The power output of an engine is proportional to the volume of air it can ingest at any given time, assuming that the fuelling is also set up correctly. The most minute restriction in the air induction system will cause an engine's optimum power output to drop. Maintaining optimum, unrestricted air flow becomes a problem when the air must pass through a filter element. There are many different designs of filters on the market, and each manufacturer will make claims that their design is more effective than their competitors. Generally, the greater the air flow restriction, the greater the power loss. Therefore, the ultimate acheivement is to choose as filter that will flow as much air as possible, without sacrificing filtration efficiency.[/b]

  17. i am not talking about aftermarket or parallel OEM oil filters. When u buy oil filter in the so called original packaging, please beware, there are fake ones lying around. anyone has any experience in telling the original from fake ones ? as for toyota original oil filter (for altis, wish, picnic etc) , look at the product code on the packaging... it should only contain NUMBERS. if it contains both numbers and alphabets, then its a fake. it doesnt matter whether the packaging states that its made in japan. i bought an oil filter from AV... apparently its a fake one.... will post original vs fake pics in due time. basically , the original ones has more filter element than the fake ones. Looking through the aperture, u can acutally see the filter element in the original one... for the fake one, all u see is metal ... i think that one should not skimp on oil filters as they help to filter dirt that is detrimental to the engine. cost of fake one -$4.50 ( but i bought at 6.50) true original one can be bought for $7.00. for other car makes i have no experience and hence unable to comment.. perhaps those car gurus here can provide some input.
  18. anyone knows where to buy such aircon filters? thanks!
  19. Hi guys, Understand the Simota range is pretty popular in here, I'm just wondering if anyone has info about its effiency and filtration capabilities? From their website, their cotton filters require regular cleaning and oiling. Dropped their tech support a mail and was told the cleaning interval is every 5K. Does anyone have any comments? Thanks
  20. ok heres the thing about drop in air filters oil based filters can screw the maf sensors stainless steel filters allows the dirt to enter the engine more effectively than stock filters what about aftermarket non oiled/non stainless steel, cotton based drop ins then ??? like simotas and apexis etc... isit advisable to use these to replace the stock ones ?? keen on getting the simota drop in...
  21. I've been gleaning off the BITOG Oil filters section. Seems like the Amsoil Ea oil filter is hotly discussed. Go over to the Amsoil home page to check out what it is. Looks pretty good. Even Terry says there is reduction of wear with this filter. Check this discussion where they cut it open. http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/ultima...ic;f=6;t=003765 The filter is not cheap. USD15.10! and they cut the filter open.
  22. bought oil filter at BM for my ride . cost $15. filter made in Thailand. went to stockist at Jln Besar. oil filter is smaller size (same diameter) but the stockist say can fit my ride. Cost $5. 24. Hv just cleaned my K&N filter last week. Before I clean it, noticed the oil has already dried out and can see tiny holes of light passing through the mesh. Wonder if I've left it in there for too long *gulp*. Almost 2 years and 25,000km then I clean! *die* One question came to my mind. Is it safe to use K&N for long term? Have anyone here been using K&N for their rides for more than 8 years care to share if there's any problems? Now I scared that my engine will spoil if use K&N for too long.
  25. If anyone here is interested in a K&N filter, suggest reading these posting : 1. http://11109.rapidforum.com/topic=101078188461
