1. So now, you have put your precious money into buying that dream car and the day that it arrives in Singapore has come! It lands in our port, someone picks it up and it gets transported to our showrooms for collection. Have you ever wondered about the fuel that goes into the car? Does it come empty? How much fuel goes into it? What kind of fuel goes into it? Well here is the story of two companies who choose a quaint little station in the West Coast to top up the fuel for their new arrivals. Both Honda and Toyota use a small Shell station down South, close to the Pasir Panjang MRT, and everyday, rain or shine, more than a dozen car transporters stop here to fill up the cars they carry. If you do the maths, that’s about a ten cars or so per transporter and more than 100 cars each day! It also gives you an idea of the sales volume of these bigger car companies. The station has a total of eight pumps, and the two outermost pair are equipped with extra long hoses, which allow the driver to reach the second deck of his transporter truck, without having to move the long truck. And yes it’s usually the driver who does the job, rather than the regular fuel attendants, but they do help out sometimes. It typically takes the driver around half an hour or more to refuel all the cars in one load. So you get a full tank? Sadly no, they will give you 50 bucks worth of the golden liquid, and it’s Ron 95 for these cars. Diesel cars obviously get a different oil, but it’s still the same amount. Given current petrol prices, you will get around a quarter tank, depending on how large the fuel tank is. Other car companies have tie ups with other stations, but the more premium marques may give you a full tank if you get their more expensive cars, but most car dealers only give you around a quarter tank. Enough for you to run about for a while, but with fuel prices so high, I guess unless you are a top valued customer, a quarter tank will have to do. Cars requiring a higher Ron do get a different grade of fuel, but whether that makes a difference is left to another story to answer…. Who says Toyotas aren't selling well?
2. I currently own a Chery T11 for 1y3m and have a rather large looking family of four. To tell you the truth, T11 is becoming a backache for my family cause it is quite cramped in the rear. Now, we're looking for a spacious car which needs to look and feel good. So far, our family is impressed with Kia Sorento and Dodge Journey. So, anybody has an idea of what car suits our family? You can suggest new car if you think that it suits our family also...
3. Just sharing some of the food that I cook in me and my family's home-cooking journey... To kick things off, thought I would go with my family & friend famous roast pork meant for special occasions and upon special requests only.. Takes me about 18 hours to finish, including the waiting & cooking times... I like the fresh pork belly from the butcher's because frozen pork tends to have a slight acrid aftertaste after you keep it overnight. Cost is higher, but the taste is much better in my opinion. Hey, only the best for my loved ones right? We start with cleaning the roast pork followed by a quick brine it.. this is how it looks like after the brine... Then we go through a second process of marinating it overnight with the spices and seasonings... this is how it looks like after the overnight marination process... We proceed to pierce holes using either an ice-pick or the "skin-poker" tool - depending on the thickness of the skin - and then do the salt-bake process... This is before we pop it into the oven for the salt bake... ... this is what it looks like after the salt bake... and after we scrape off the salt before returning it into the oven for a second bake... We return the pork into the oven for a final bake, rotating it every 45 minutes and wiping off excess fat that oozes from the top... Hope you enjoyed this first post... With love, Uncle Terry
4. Hello, I am a new member here. My dad is considering a cheap MPV and we have narrowed down to a Hafei Minz and a Wuling Journey. So far I have only seen Hafei reviews but I rarely see any Wuling reviews. So any bros here can give me some advice on which one to choose?
5. Maybe its good for local tourism? or floodgate to overcrowding? SINGAPORE: From next month, the validity of the Multiple Journey Visas (MJVs) issued to nationals from the People’s Republic of China can be extended up to a maximum of 10 years. In a press release on Friday (May 15), the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said the same facility will also be extended to their spouse and children below the age of 21, if the main applicant is eligible. Chinese nationals with a valid MJV need not apply for a visa each time they visit Singapore. The move will provide greater convenience for Chinese nationals, especially business travellers, who travel often to Singapore, said ICA. The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) welcomed the move and said this will make it easier for tourists from China to visit Singapore, and enhance STB's efforts to increase visitor arrival and tourism spending. Eligible applicants will also be able to use the automated immigration clearance at Singapore’s checkpoints, said ICA, adding that more details will be announced at a later date. - CNA/fs
6. The heart-warming tale by director Chiu Keng Guan broke the record previously held by KL Gangster. PETALING JAYA: Chiu Keng Guan’s The Journey reportedly broke the all-time Malaysian box-office record for a local film, grossing a total of RM12.92mil as of Sunday. The announcement was made via a statement on the movie’s Facebook page (thejourney.my) at 5pm on Monday, which said: “The Journey has become Malaysia’s No. 1 local movie when it achieved highest box office sales of RM12.92mil as at 23 Feb 2014.” “We thank you for all your support in being part of this historical moment.” Presented by Astro Shaw and produced by Woohoo Pictures, The Journey broke the RM11.74mil record held by KL Gangster since 2011. Starring Lee Sai Peng, Joanne Yew Hong Im, and Ben Andrew Pfeiffer, the movie tells a heart warming tale about a conservative father who gives in to his daughter’s wish to marry a foreigner on one condition – that the groom-to-be takes a journey with him around the country to hand out the wedding invitations personally. http://youtu.be/87aUx4za2k0 Damn, this Malaysia-made movie seems so much better than our boring Ilo Ilo. Heard the movie still doing full house in cinemas 3 weeks after they opened in 30th Jan.

8. COE prices has risen drastically at the Dec 9, 2010 bidding, but at least there's still some sne car prices around. Brand new Dodge Journey 2.4 selling at $76,999 incl COE. http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_...p?CarCode=10807 I think this is a better buy than normal Japanese saloons costing $90,000

10. i had kind of interesting journey today.. Car 1, 2 3, 4 and 5 is on lane 1. All are abt 2 cars length from each other. Car 1 (civic) hogging lane 1 at 100-120kmh throughout, hot in the ARSE by Car 2, Car 2 (taxi) didnt bother to overtake from left throughout, (seldom see taxi tailgate and pester so patiently all the way in the journey..), Car 3 (me) hot in the ARSE by Car 4 (female 20+++ CHARBOR), Car 4 (swift vitara) is tailgating, didnt try to overtake from left, and trying to block off Car 5 throughout, Car 5 (lancer) keep coming in and out of the lane, trying to overtake Car 4 (or Car 1) from left, yet no balls to lub to overtake, in the end LL still remain Car 5. The entire journey's of us is from BKE to TUAS. LOL.
11. Being Hunting for a Mini Van to replace my 1992 Suzuki Swift 1.0 MT, went to test drove the Wuling Journey on the 22th June 2008. Below are my opinions, please bare in mind that I pass all this judgment based on my observations and experience, you need not agree. Thank you. Ride comfort: Having own minivan before, my last being Honda Mobilio 1.5 auto, ride comfort of Journey is pretty decent, as the sales person told me their luxury version will have all round sound clad, it will be even better. But the suspension feels soft on uneven road surfaces. Body roll is expected as of most tall vans, overall, 6 out of 10. Build: Weldings are of good workmanship, fit and finish is of good standard, it's like a Japanese's standard of the nineties, it actually give me a pleasant surprise considering the other minivans that i view of same origin. All gaps are consistent, cant spot any uneven fittings. Would score it 6 out of 10. Undercarriage: Feels and look well bolted together, will get tough coat for the luxury model, springs all round. No further comment. Wheels: Let's just say I will change it upon collection if i buy. Would score it 3 out of 10. Power train: Power comes from a 50 plus bhp suzuki engine, if it's true, I will trust it almost immediately considering my harsh treatment of my old swift power plant. The block is located under the passenger seat. Heat from it is pretty well insulated, sound is harsh when push beyond 3500 rpm. Drive and control: Gear changing is good, gears are pretty close considering other vans that I have driven, hence it's a plus point. All controls are simple and easily access, central console looks and feels good, comes with a flushing surface factory fitted cd radio, again it's a plus. Power is decent, it's able to move 7 but i have to say that journey is best for speeds bellow 90 to really enjoy and feel less stressful. Crash test: Cant find any and sales executive is not sure too. Doubt that it's tested. Seats arrangement: For this price, I give it a 8 out of 10, middle seats can be turned to face last row, it's well bolted down and leathers come with the luxury model. Stopping power: Tried braking hard while turning and going straight, sales executive is not pleased, wont encourage you to try as it's good for normal driving and stopping, it's not meant to be push hard, my 92 swift did better on this subject. But hey, it's a van after all and it's expected to be driven like one. Would rate it 6 out of 10. Strong points to consider: Very good air condition, second row over head large air con vents is a plus plus plus! Comes with 3 points seat belts for 6 and one waist belt on the center last row. All doors close with a nice tug. Out look is modern and nice, like the red especially. Very affordable. Weak points: As all makes that does not have a strong presence here, reliability on parts availability and after sales support. Overall: Will consider to trade in my swift, best mini van of same origin so far!

13. hi all... i just happen to pass by the Dodge temporary showroom at Bt. Timah... saw the latest 2010 Dodge Journey 2.4L Crossover vehicle... i always though american cars were cheaply built, and had high cc engines... but the $99,000 car really surprised me with well screwed together interior, soft-touch plastics on the top of the dash, plenty of storage space and the 2nd row of seats was really spacious!! bar the 3rd row of seats, which i'll most probably fold down, or ask Chrysler-Dodge dealer to bring in the 5-seater model if i'm really interested... will be going down to test this model after CNY...hope it drives well... but American reviewer said the 2.4L 170bhp engine is sluggish, ride is harsh and bumpy and steering is lifeless... but i gotta admit this car looks great!!
14. It took 1 year to complete due to many glitches along the way. I will not share some of the details with you guys because its not necessary. In short... I went from ordering a Z4 3.0si roadster to a 335i Cab. I will skip pics sent from my german contact and jump right into what I took this afternoon at SATS Air Freight Terminal. Hope you guys don't mind the crap shots taken from my hp cam. 1st pic collection of visitor's pass from airline house pass office
15. To the champagne coloured Sunny on PIE towards Tuas at the Kallang ERP gantry this morning, stick your f**king cashcard into your IU before driving, and not f**king jam brake in front of the ERP gantry. You were very lucky that the red car behind you managed to change lanes in time, and that I was only 1/4 into the lane behind the red car and managed to swerve back. Otherwise, we would all have not been able to brake in time, and the tipper truck behind would have converted my saloon into a hatch, and both the red car and yourself would have been involved as well. You bloody deserved the high beam from the tipper truck.
16. Haha, just thought that we may want to share some of our thinking on this poisonous and expensive hobby...here goes: 1. Who is perfectly contented with their current setup? 2. Who has finished this cycle of "buying, installing, upgrading, tweaking/tuning, searching"? 3. How long do you think it'll take for you to say "my setup is completed" or "I've achieved the perfect sound I've been searching for"? 4. What is your endstate? 5. In the first place, is it ever possible to have an endstate in ICE?
17. Hi there, 1. I'm planing for a long journey across borders. Currently on Michelin MXV8. 2. Do you have somethings in mind that would be able to tolerate city roads, occasion off-roads and some small streams? Perhaps my current tyres are good enough? Any suggestions? Thank you. Regards,
