Rider and pillion take a tumble after hitting NV250 while changing lane

How easy is it to get a motorcycle license? Whoever’s in charge might want to up the difficulty if this rider was able to pass. What happened? On 17 April yesterday, a motorcyclist and their passenger hit a Nissan NV350 while changing lanes on the Pan-Island Expressway. Yeah, ‘big whoop’, I hear you say, but what gets me is how avoidable this was. Another biker was able to continue in that same lane with no issues. You could argue it’s that other biker’s fault, since they passed them right before they were about to change lanes. But they were still facing the road and so could see that this biker was going way faster than them. There was also enough distance to see that there was plenty of time to slow down. However, if you look at the Nissan, notice how it accelerated before slowing down as well. Yet even once it slowed down, there’s a solid two seconds before our main biker hit the Nissan with no signs of braking. Regardless of external factors, bro does not know what braking is. As a result, both rider and pillion took a rough fall. Both of them were not wearing riding gear and rolled a couple times. Yikes. Online chatter For some reason, Facebook users seem to have a knack with involving women despite how they may have zero influence on the situation. As seen with the female pillion rider. With Good Friday around the corner, here’s a wholesome story about treating strangers with compassion and kindness! What happened? During a downpour yesterday in the east side of Singapore, this cam car caught a heartwarming encounter that even the most cynical of us can appreciate and smile upon. At the junction of Joo Chiat and Still Road, a primary school boy was caught in the rain with no shelter or protection from the harsh rain. We can see the torrent of the rain from the thick splashes on the cam car’s windshield. A fine drizzle, this was not. The boy was seen pacing around while waiting to cross the road, presumably due to the cold. The Nissan van driver in front of the cam car saw this, and exited with an umbrella in hand. The driver passed the umbrella to the student before rushing back inside the van. Online chatter The comments were united in praising the uncle for his kindness, some hoping to see him rewarded somehow in the future. Any Nissan Serena owners here? Can't find any reviews locally and don't think I've seen any on our roads though I think a few of this has already been delivered to their new owners. There's 2 versions. The Comfort version is more affordable with manual sliding doors and original fabric seats. The Highway Star version comes with body kit, power sliding doors and locally fitted leather seats. Interesting flexible seat configurations between 7-8 seaters. So far no other locally available MPV has it according to my knowledge. However, the center seat in the second row may not be comfortable. This is the Highway Star version

Maserati GranTurismo S unable to outrun a Nissan NV200 on the KJE

TL;DR – A Nissan NV200 and a Maserati GranTurismo S were caught on camera racing one another along the KJE. However, the race did not go as one would have expected. The Maserati GranTurismo S is a beautiful car. Image credit: Google It’s a 4.7L car housing a V8 engine that pushes 400+ horsepower. We’re talking 0 to 100km/hr in about 4 seconds! But yet, in this 47-second video, you can see how it loses to a Nissan NV200 (a van). What happened? The first thing that comes to mind after watching the video is a quote from Vin Diesel in the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise. But the forward thinking NV200 driver takes advantage of an empty pocket of space on the first lane and barrels forward. Meanwhile, the GranTurismo got stuck behind slower vehicles on the left. Most recently, Nissan took aim at Toyota's RAV4 hybrid indicating the fuel economy ratings on the popular small SUV are exaggerated. Case in point, the Nissan X-Trail e-Power uses a gasoline engine to recharge the onboard lithium-ion battery and gets an estimated 6.1 liters per 100km, or about 38.6 mpg. By comparison, the Toyota RAV4 uses a conventional hybrid system that delivers an estimated 4.7 liters per 100 km, or the equivalent of 50 mpg, a fuel economy increase of about 30 percent. Nissan indicates that the fuel economy differences between the two vehicles are not as far apart as the estimates suggest and believe the real-world performance is closer. "I think with the fuel economy, it's a tricky one. We'll leave it in your hands to do the real-world testing. But from a lot of the articles I've seen for RAV4 Hybrid, you can't get anywhere near 4.8 (liters per hundred kilometers)," says Aleksandar Pecanac, Nissan Australia's product manager for X-Trail. Nissan goes on to claim that its X-Trail e-Power system delivers a superior driving experience. According to Adam Robertson, deputy director of the Nissan Technical Center in Europe, the X-Trail drives "More like an EV, and we know from our experience with EVs that customers love it." Robertson goes on to say, "EVs have the highest level of satisfaction for acceleration, and that's not just the outright performance for a car like the Porsche Taycan. That's all EVs. "We also know that traditional hybrids have the lowest satisfaction. We wanted to capture the customer experience that they really like and bring that in with e-Power." The Nissan X-Trail e-Power launched last fall in Japan and Europe as an electrified version of the Rogue. The automaker has not yet indicated if and when it will bring the e-Power version of the Nissan Rogue to the US. Currently, Nissan's US website only mentions the e-Power on the Nissan Leaf.

Yes, the Fairlady Z is making a come back, after 12 years... Err @Jamesc are you one of the board of directors? You just mentioned the new Z days ago! One of the Nissan model I am eagerly anticipating (although sport car is not really my cup of tea), and hopefully it stick to the original sleek design in its early days. From the video, am I the only one to see hint of the 1st gen Fairlady Z?

While it look more like a facelift of the 5th gen Serena (C27), this actually a brand new model from Nissan, and it is now available in 3 drive train options: petrol only, petrol hybrid and ePower (EV). The gasoline version uses a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine with 150 horsepower (110 kilowatts) and 200 Newton-meters of torque offered with or without all-wheel drive and a CVT. There's also a hybrid e-Power model (2WD only) with a new and quieter 1.4-liter engine producing 98 hp (72 kW) and 123 Nm. Combined with the electric motor, the total system output is 163 hp (120 kW) and 315 Nm.

TL;DR = A Nissan NV200 speeds on the wet road, loses control, hits the side railings and overturns on the CTE The speed limit for goods vehicles on expressways is 70km/h. There’s no way that this van was adhering to said speed limit. Watch the minute-and-a-half-long video to see what I mean: What happened At about 0.02, you can see that the van swerves to avoid a car in front of it. Doing so sends the van out of control on the wet road (it’s raining, by the way). It then proceeds to hit the side railings before overturning dramatically on the CTE. A recipe for disaster I have no idea what the driver was thinking. It was raining, and the ground was wet. Visibility could not have been that great. The speed limit for goods vehicles is 70km/h. All the conditions listed above perfectly line up; just waiting for an accident to happen. And true enough, it did! Online Chatter This commenter has a point. Most comments feel that the van driver deserved this. There were some sparks when the van overturned though. There are days where I am rushing to go somewhere and would like to take a short cut or step on the pedal. However, this Nissan Sylphy driver took the urgency to another level. before the straight road there is a left turn arrow behind. But after watching 421 times of the clip, I still cannot comprehend how did he maneuver until it got stuck in the pedestrian path. The good thing is that the car looks intact and there are no injuries for this incident. Share with me your thoughts on this incident! -

Dear Esteemed Readers, It is with a heavy heart and a huge dose of disillusionment that I would like to share with you a personal anecdote about the Nissan Qashqai. Firstly, to be fair, with respect to the road tax- and petrol- saving 1.2 L Qashqai, the first five years of driving had been a breeze. However, all heel broke loose, merely a day after my Qashqai's 6th birthday last September. The chronology of my Qashqai's meltdown is as follows (I apologise for any technical typo): A. Replacement of the faulty (1) Evaporator Cooling Coil $320 (6 Sep 2021) (2) Dashbox $280 (6 Sep 2021) (3) Tow Truck Activation $140 (29 Oct 2021) (3) Thermostat Housing $270 (30 Oct 2021) (4) Manifold Gadget $60 (30 Oct 2021) (5) Fan Motor - Air Con $320 (30 Oct 2021) B. Dismantling and Assembly Costs in total $470 C. Locked gearbox with inability to shift the gear from Parking to Drive As recently as last December, it had taken me an average of 5 to 10 minutes to wait for the gearbox to disengage and move off but the situation dovetailed to a complete lockdown last month in which I have to use a pen to depress the Shift Lock button in every instance of gear shifting. D. Busted Speakers The last straw that broke the camel's back occurred yesterday when suddenly, the speakers just blared as loud as a car horn within the car (even at the lowest volume), the intensity of which still leaves me shell-shocked. I sincerely hope that the aforementioned sequence of unfortunate events only applies to yours truly but on a cautious note, I would strongly urge you to re-consider your buying option upon selection of a second-hand Qashqai. His ability to observe and react to any given situations faster than others made him a natural leader. He also had the ability to think outside the box which often caught his peers by surprise. I am certain William was aware of our spying motives, for we also spent countless hours trying to emulate whatever we had observed. Thankfully, he was unfazed and we remained very good friends. By 1984, I was able to compete on par with William. In fact, we became the top contenders for car park races till the early 90’s. So before the start of each event, William would call me by my Chinese name and we would perform the gentleman’s handshake, “Yeow, wish you a good race. If you don’t win, I will.”"

Personally, I strictly employ the 2-second rule, especially during heavy (heavier) traffic and wet weather. The extra distance and time provided by the 2-second rule will be crucial for you to react accordingly when the car in front of you performs an abrupt brake. Watch what happens when one doesn't leave a safe distance from the car ahead: What Happened? A total of 14 vehicles were involved in 3 clusters of accidents along lane 1 of the PIE, with two clusters being multiple chain collisions. According to the dashcam footage, both the chain collisions seemed to have occurred just moments earlier. The first cluster This was most likely the cause of the subsequent accidents. It involved 3 cars: A Toyota Prius A Toyota Vios A Mazda CX-3 The second cluster The most 'rabak' out of the three, involved a total of 8 cars and a mini-van. The 8 cars consists of: A Nissan Sylphy A Hyundai Elantra A Toyota Corolla Altis A Toyota Wish A Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class A Mercedes-Benz C180 Two unidentifiable cars that were squashed against the concrete barrier The final cluster The dashcam footage captured the last accident or final cluster, which involved 2 cars: A Honda Civic An Audi TT Unfortunately, despite being able to brake in time due to the ample safety distance ahead of him, the Honda Civic still got rear-ended pretty hard by the Audi TT. The impact of the collision caused the Honda Civic to surge several metres ahead. The 2-Second Rule Could the 2-second rule taught to us in driving school prevent this series of accidents? Possibly, if each driver practices this rule - Take a look at the Honda Civic that managed to stop in time with the 2-second rule employed by the driver. I am certain that with the 2-second rule, there would be fewer cars involved in the massive chain collision due to the added time and distance for each driver to react accordingly. Netizens' Comments I hope this clears up the confusion on why the Honda Civic was flashing his high beam at the cam car.
