Autoblog.com reported last monday (July 30th) that Toyota is in the process of forming a special committee dedicated to creating interesting cars, mainly because Toyota has no sports cars left in their current line-up. Lexus is of course working on some good stuff, i.e. the IS-F and LF-A, but since the MR2 and Supra, Toyota has only been supplying the non-performance section of the market. So the time has come for the resurrection of the AE86, a Corolla coupe from the 80's. Japanese car magazine Best Car (Japanese language site) has pried loose some initial specs of the AE86: under 4m long, approximately 1,7 m wide, measuring 1,35m from the ground up, target weight lies under 1000kg, will most likely be powered by a 1,5 liter 2NZ-FE engine. Toyota's new partner, Fuji Heavy Industries (or Subaru to most people) will be supplying the RWD drivetrain. Like the Scion xD, which is branded as the Toyota ist in Japan, there is a good possiblity that the AE86 might make it to the USA as a new Scion tC, or as an entirely new Scion budget performance car. We’ve found pictures of the 2020 Ford Bronco. Found on a publicly accessible part of a Ford website hosting pictures of the 2018 dealer meeting in Las Vegas, these pictures give us a dandy look at the new Bronco. A pair of superbly retro round LED headlights paying homage to the original Bronco bookend a bold grille featuring the word FORD in block letters, which appear to be illuminated. This mirrors some of the teaser images officially released by Ford, so we’re confident this is the real deal. The side profile shows a lantern-jawed machine with square lines. A vent of some sort, likely decorative, is ahead of the front door. There is also a neat character line that kicks up into the rear side glass just aft of the rear door. Its white roof is a take on a styling flourish that’s rapidly permeating all corners of the crossover industry. And, yes, the new Bronco is most definitely a four-door crossover, not an enormous SUV as we remember it. However, it’s styling as shown here is appropriately chunky, as if the designers were given a T-square as their sole tool. We’re OK with that. The Bronco shown on the far right has a satisfyingly chunky set of tires, indicating that while this rig may not be a direct competitor to the Wrangler, it will likely be able to take on terrain similar to that conquered by machines like the Cherokee Trailhawk. Which raises a good question – what would Ford call an off-road focused Bronco? FX4? Adrenalin, maybe? Your guess is as good as ours. The reason we think this image here is the Bronco and not some sort of ‘baby Bronco’ (which has also been alluded to in potential product plans) is thanks to the other images being shown to the audience in these photos. Marketing-speak like “authentic off-road capability” and “an SUV that means business” could refer to anything but the image of the word ‘Bronco’ by itself leads us to believe we are looking at that machine. Also, recall that Ford did tease something earlier this year that could be a smaller crossover with a similar style to the one shown here. However, its headlights are just ever so slightly more upswept than this rig’s, whose round peepers have decidedly square frames. Now we know what the Bronco will look like, our next job is to speculate on powertrain options. Four-cylinder? EcoBoost V6? What type of four-wheel drive system will it have? Stay tuned for that speculation.

  5. Back in December last year, I wrote about the resurgence of several British sports car manufacturers and one of them is Atalanta Motors. Details were little back then but a recent launch of the new car provided more details about the revival. The event was held at the Royal Automobile Club on 05 March 2012, exactly 75 years when the original Atalanta Sports Tourer was introduced in 1937 by its founder Neil Watson. This revival project is a joint venture between restorer Trevor Farrington and motoring enthusiast Martyn Corfield, who purchased the Atalanta name. Both Corfield and Farrington designed a new Atalanta Sports Tourer that combines modern engineering and the classic lines of the original car. At the launch, Corfield spoke about the history of the marque and highlighted some of the innovative technologies which the original Atalanta models featured. The revived company uses modern technology to enhance performance and safety, while the 1930s English sports car styling is retained including the tall and narrow tyres so as to give a good driver

  7. We've seen the Lancia Stratos in spy photos and official videos, but we haven't seen the spec sheet - until now. The modern day revival packs a 4.3-liter V8 that produces 540 PS (397 kW / 533 hp) and over 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque, thanks to a remapped ECU and a high-performance exhaust system. It is connected to a six-speed sequential gearbox which enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.3 seconds, 0-200 km/h (124 mph) in 9.7 seconds, and hit a top speed of 274 km/h (170 mph). Furthermore, the Stratos rides on a shortened (by 20cm) Ferrari F430 Scuderia chassis and boasts a full carbon fiber body. The latter enables the car have a 44:56 weight distribution and an overall weight of 1247 kg (2,749 lbs).   8. now that there are legalized versions of battery powered motorized bicycles, there's a revival of gungho riders out to test the limits of road safety. they seem to think that having attached a motor to their bicycle makes them lightning fast & boosted their confidence to cruise on the outermost lane or zip across 3 lanes a motorized bicycle in the wrong hands is just an accident waiting to happen.

It is speculated that with the GTR being re-released into the market all over the world, with the absence of the Silvia for so long, and the run away success of Nissan's FM chassis (the 350Z and G35/G37 and upcoming GTR) that the market place is ready once again for an affordable, turbo, rear drive sports car. The new iteration of the Silvia is rumored to be priced in a very affordable range of 21,000 to 23,000 USD and will be available as soon as 2010. Nissan has neither confirmed nor denied any of the above claims, however, in 2003 and 2004, during a few key Nissan press conferences, Carlos Gohsn was asked about the Silvia in Japan, Australia and even the US. His response to the "Silvia" question was simply "It is a good time to be a Nissan fan. Keep your eyes and ears open around the time the new GTR is being released as you may find a surprise." A few days after the car's official announcement, reports from various Japanese car enthusiast magazines reported that their inside sources at Nissan have said "Nissan is not sitting back and taking the new Toyota/Subaru sports coupe lightly. A new Silvia will be available on the market before the end of 2010 and will be priced in direct competition with the new Toyota/Subaru sports coupe." The report went on to say "The new Silvia has in-fact been in development for over 3 years now and that it is being built on a modified FM platform." The motor for the car was discussed in the reports as well sighting that either a new 1.8 litre or 2.0 litre turbo charged, rear-wheel-drive, 4 cylinder engine will be used (that outputs nearly 250hp).   10. Just did this white colt on Saturday. Was in quite a neglected condition when it came and the owner just took of the stickers on his ride and the difference was plain to see. I had though initially that this car should not take more than 6 hrs but I was dead wrong as cleaning up the door jams and door handle areas took me 3hrs to finish Process: 1) Wash n clay (Due to tar marks accumulated for a long period of time, I had to use an abrasive grade claybar to remove them. If not, normal grade claybar will take forever to finish) 2) Rotary with Orange LC pad and Intensive polish mixed with Paintwork cleansing lotion on all panels except bumper 3) PC with Orange spot buff pads and IP mixed with PCL for both bumpers, side skirts and door jams where applicable. Some parts where the PC cannot reach is replace by hand 4) Rinse 5) Pc with grey finishing pad with Wet Mirror Finish to clear up the polishing residue 6) PC with blue final finishing pad with Jetseal 109 x2 Here's some of the before pics: Petrol Stains Sticker marks Before and after: Door handle before: After: Door before: After:
