  1. Entry-level BEV from Škoda, Epiq. Small becomes epic: Škoda Auto has revealed the name of its battery-electric city SUV crossover, along with a design study showing a first glimpse of the new model. The Škoda Epiq, due to be unveiled in 2025, will cost around 25,000 euros. At 4.1 metres in length, it will feature a spacious interior and up to 490 litres of luggage capacity. The vehicle will fully incorporate the powerful, functional and authentic new Modern Solid design language – inside and out. This will be complemented by a flawless digital experience, with new technologies and assistance features. The new digital design study released by Škoda highlights key features and characteristics of the future production vehicle. At 4.1 metres in length, the Škoda Epiq city SUV crossover will have plenty of space for five people and a luggage capacity of up to 490 litres. With an entry-level price starting at around 25,000 euros, it is the perfect choice for customers new to electric mobility. It fully incorporates the powerful new Modern Solid design language – inside and out – and offers a maximum electric range of more than 400 kilometres. The new Modern Solid design language combines robustness, functionality and authenticity. The Škoda Epiq design study features a sculpted bonnet bearing a new Škoda wordmark. Its Tech-Deck Face in glossy black is a modern reinterpretation of the familiar Škoda grille and houses electrical devices like the distance radar and the front camera. The Tech-Deck Face is flanked by bifunctional, T-shaped LED elements for the daytime running lights and indicators. The front headlamps are in a lower, secondary position. Their light modules have a cubist-inspired design and feature Matrix LED technology. The robust front bumper comes with a striking spoiler painted in Unique Dark Chrome. The side view is characterised by a high, sweeping tornado line that visually separates the greenhouse from the rest of the body and emphasises the car’s powerful shoulders. The wheel arches below are picked out with a striking trim and house aerodynamically optimised wheels. The low, gently sloping roof line merges into a roof spoiler for optimal aerodynamic efficiency. The rear also features a robust bumper and Škoda lettering in Unique Dark Chrome on the tailgate. The minimalist look of the Škoda Epic design study is underlined by the matt metallic paintwork in bright Moon White. Flashy Orange detailing on the roof rails and the wheels as well as on the front and rear bumpers add visual interest. The Škoda Epiq will be the first production vehicle to feature a minimalist Modern Solid interior focusing on durable, practical and sustainable materials. It has an open storage compartment that includes a wireless mobile phone charger in the free-floating centre console as well as Simply Clever compartments for even more storage options. The boot also benefits from some of the brand’s hallmark Simply Clever details such as bag hooks, cargo elements, fastening hooks and a hidden underfloor compartment. The two-spoke steering wheel showcases the new Škoda lettering as well as physical buttons and haptic scroll wheels with Flashy Orange accents to control key functions while driving. The mobile digital key enables a wide range of interactions via the customer’s smart device, thus enhancing the user’s digital experience. This underlines the consistent customer focus of Škoda’s “mobile first” approach designed to make drivers’ everyday lives easier. The Škoda Epiq also supports bidirectional charging, transforming the car into a rolling energy storage unit that can feed excess electric energy into the customer’s home and other appliances. The Škoda Epiq will be a milestone in Škoda history, which is emphasised by its distinctive and easily recognisable name. It fits perfectly into the nomenclature of Škoda’s BEV SUV models: the E at the beginning stands for a battery-electric Škoda model, while the Q at the end identifies it as a member of the brand’s SUV family. Epiq is derived from the ancient Greek word “epos”, which stands for “word” or “verse”, but also for “tale” or “poem”. The name evokes positive associations such as amazing, great, extraordinary and remarkable. With its clever features and versatility, the Škoda Epiq aims to fulfil the needs of both family- and lifestyle-oriented customers. The city SUV crossover will be made in Pamplona, Spain, as a joint development and production project of Volkswagen’s Brand Group Core representatives Škoda, Cupra and Volkswagen. Škoda Auto is committed to investing billions of euros into its transformation towards e-mobility in the coming years. The Škoda Elroq, a battery-electric compact SUV, will be the first vehicle to be launched as part of the upcoming electric model campaign, with its debut scheduled for later this year.
  2. VW Singapore plots Skoda comeback Volkswagen-owned Czech brand Skoda is making a comeback, yet again. But this time, it is parent group Volkswagen which will do its own importing and retailing here. Volkswagen Group Singapore - the manufacturer-owned importer and retailer of Volkswagen vehicles here - has registered a new company for this purpose. According to the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, Skoda Centre Singapore was registered last month and will be operating out of 247 Alexandra Road, which is the same address as the VW showroom. The Straits Times understands renovations are being carried out at the facility and that Skoda Centre Singapore will start operations in the first quarter of next year. Volkswagen Group Singapore was not available for comment, but it is understood that a meaningful price differential will be in place to re-launch the Czech brand here. Previously, Skoda cars - which are based on Volkswagens - were the same price or even costlier than equivalent VW models. In other markets, Skodas are cheaper. The brand was last represented by Harvest Automobiles, part of businessman Peter Kwee's now dormant motor group of companies. Harvest Automobiles went bust in 2013 - the third Skoda agency to have failed in Singapore. The Straits Times understands Vertex Automobiles, the dealer for Chinese automobile brand Chery that is owned by egg trader Lian Fong, had made a pitch for the Skoda franchise. But it has since landed Seat, a Spanish brand also owned by Volkswagen Group. Skoda had also been courting Trans Eurokars, a multi-franchise group owned by businessman Karsono Kwee. Among its brands are Rolls-Royce, Porsche, Mini and Mazda. The best year for the Skoda brand here was 2010, when it sold 105 cars. That is less than 4 per cent of Volkswagen sales last year. Will the brand have better success under Volkswagen? Nanyang Business School's Adjunct Associate Professor Zafar Momin, previously an automotive expert with the Boston Consulting Group, said: "Skoda may be able to make a comeback in Singapore if priced and promoted properly. It needs to be very competitive with its Korean competitors in terms of pricing, as it could provide solid, competitive products targeted at value segments of the markets. "With VW Singapore now doing it themselves, it has a better chance than before. Having said that, I wonder what "comeback" really means in a small crowded Singapore car market which has small volumes for many non-mainstream brands. Would it really be worth the effort and to what extent would it cannibalise VW products?" When contacted back in 2014 - when Harvest Automobiles relinquished the business - Volkswagen Group Singapore said it had no plans to take over the Skoda retail business here. It has, however, taken over the maintenance and warranty of Skodas here. There are about 400 Skoda cars in Singapore today. As a onwer of both Skoda and VW model, I can attest that Skoda is indeed better, in almost every aspect, than VW. I can wait to welcome it back to Singapore!! Here are some interesting models in current Skoda lineup, that I hope can be made available to local motorist when sales start next year. Superb Superb Combi Kodiaq

  4. It will be available in both Liftback and estate version, while the next generation Passat will be available solely in estate form. For me, I will gladly take this estate variant, preferably in Scout trim (with >270 horsepower, 4x4 drive train, raised height,etc.). This heavily camouflaged prototype was caught testing with Czech registration plates without fake body panels or cladding. The proportions seem largely unchanged with the only notable difference probably being the slightly more sloped roofline. Underneath the skin, the architecture underpinning the new Superb will be an evolution of the MQB platform used by the current model. The production of the new Superb should begin next year at Volkswagen’s plant in Bratislava, Slovakia. In local context, that means end 2024 will be the earliest it will hit our shore.
  5. Look larger and well proportioned. Stay tuned for more info.
  6. This is not another normal SUV / MPV... You are looking at the first large size EV from Skoda, with RWD setup! Skoda hasn’t built a rear-wheel-drive vehicle since the early 1990s when the 105/120/125 series of rear-engined RWD cars was discontinued to make way for the Favorit with the engine in the front driving the front wheels. The Mladá Boleslav marque is returning to its roots, but with an electric twist as the Enyaq iV will eschew the combustion engine for an electric motor. Riding on the same MEB platform as the forthcoming VW ID.4, the Enyaq will be a follow-up to the appealing Vision iV concept introduced about a year ago at the Geneva Motor Show. While it won’t look as exciting as the showcar before it, the electric vehicle should have some extra pizzazz compared to the firm’s conventionally powered SUVs, such as the Karoq or Kodiaq. One thing I’d like to add is that while the concept had some coupe influences, the production car will be more in the spirit of a tall wagon.
  7. This reminded me of when I was young and addicted to the Asphalt racing games. Remember how you’d boost with nitro and ram into the side of your opponent to prevent them from getting past you? This one is like that, but with less cool cars. What happened? On 5 May 2023, a Skoda Octavia on the ECP Expressway tried to overtake a camcar and ended up getting pit manouevred, causing it to hit the railing. The Skoda was initially keeping a safe distance behind the camcar, moving left to enter another lane. To the Skoda’s credit they used their signals for this move. However, when trying to overtake the camcar, the Skoda misjudged its speed and turned in too early, with the back end of the car still within reach of the camcar. We can’t see if the Skoda turned on its turn signal in the footage. If it did, some blame can be shifted to the camcar for not slowing down for it. But looking at the footage, we can also see the Skoda took no time to check if it cleared the camcar and went for the overtake very quickly. So regardless if the camcar made a mistake, the majority of the blame is still squarely on the Skoda. Fortunately the accident does not seem severe, as the Skoda got away with some minor damage to it’s exterior. Online chatter Some netizens seem to think that the camcar sped up in the footage, and that they were hogging the lane. Others just blame the skoda for being impatient and overtaking. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Since Seat has a new AD here and some of us had been waiting till neck long long for Skoda to have an AD here... For the Kodiaq, would anyone buy the Seat Ateca if it was sold here? If yes, what reasonable price would you buy it at? Here is a review from Top Gear UK... https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/ateca/first-drive Disclaimer : I don't work for the local Seat AD...
  10. Hi bros here. Some noobie question to ask about car price after the 80k coe yesterday Sgcarmart updated skoda price to price without coe. Coincidentally I have noticed some other dealers list car prices without coe as well. May I know how does this work and wads the rationale behind this? High coe so hide the coe? Means buyer bid for own coe? Or dun want list price with coe to frighten off buyers? Not lookin to buy a car at this crazy amount but am puzzled how this works and appreciate if you can help a noob out
  11. THE ALL-NEW ŠKODA OCTAVIA EXTERIOR Emotive exterior design, greater dimensions The new front apron and the sharply drawn, new headlights provide visual highlights for the ŠKODA OCTAVIA. The compact vehicle’s increased length and width bring out its self-assured character. At 4,689 mm, the fourth-generation ŠKODA OCTAVIA COMBI is 22 mm longer than its predecessor; its width has grown by 15 mm to 1,829 mm (the hatchback’ length has increased by 19 mm to 4,689 mm and by 15 mm in width, taking it to 1,829 mm). The wheelbase measures 2,686 mm. The redesigned, shallow roof rails emphasise the vehicle’s elongated silhouette, whilst alloy wheels measuring up to 19 inches lend it a powerful appearance. New OCTAVIA ranks among the most aerodynamic cars in the world The new design sharpens the ŠKODA OCTAVIA’s visual presence and enables excellent aerodynamics. The hatchback has a drag coefficient (cd) from 0.24 and the OCTAVIA COMBI from 0.26. The new OCTAVIA thereby ranks among the most aerodynamic cars in the world. The improved aerodynamics also reduce the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. First OCTAVIA with full LED Matrix headlights The narrower front headlights and the tail lights use modern LED technology. In the top-of-the-range version, the OCTAVIA is equipped with a real highlight – full LED Matrix headlights. This innovative system generates a light beam consisting of several segments which are controlled individually. Thus, the high beam can be on at all times, without dazzling other road users. Using the camera on the windscreen, the intelligent technology detects vehicles that are approaching or up ahead as well as people and objects reflecting the light. The lights also greet the driver with an animated Coming/Leaving Home function. The full LED tail lights are incorporated into this animation too, and boast – which is a first for the ŠKODA OCTAVIA – dynamic indicators. INTERIOR New interior concept and extraordinarily generous amount of space In the new ŠKODA OCTAVIA, the usual impressive amount of space is even more generous. The rear passengers enjoy an even more luxurious level of kneeroom than before – now 78 mm. The boot capacity, which is the largest in the segment, has increased to 640 l in the COMBI and 600 l in the hatchback. The ŠKODA designers have completely revamped the OCTAVIA’s interior. The new steering wheel now features just two spokes and has a chrome trim; in the multifunction variant, 14 different functions can be performed via push and new scroll buttons in a chrome finish. The centre console, door trims and dashboard have been redesigned too. Featuring a modular, multi-level arrangement, the dashboard echoes the shape of the ŠKODA grille with a contrasting, coloured area below the large, free-standing central multifunction display. Particularly back-friendly, ergonomic seats are available for the first time. In addition to being heated, these also come with the options of a massage function and/or cooling ventilation. The optional sports seats are covered in a particularly breathable ThermoFlux fabric. Another optional feature in the new OCTAVIA is the tri-zone Climatronic air conditioning. When equipped with the KESSY keyless entry system, any one of the OCTAVIA’s four doors can be opened first. At the time of the market launch, the new OCTAVIA will be available in the Active, Ambition and Style trim levels. Later in 2020, the rugged OCTAVIA SCOUT and the sporty OCTAVIA RS will be added to the range. TECHNOLOGY New: head-up display and two 10-inch screens The OCTAVIA is the first ŠKODA model to feature a head-up display. This projects important information such as the speed or navigational information directly onto the windscreen in immediate view of the driver, allowing them to read it without taking their eyes off the road. The new ŠKODA OCTAVIA’s infotainment systems offer optional streaming services for radio and TV as well as completely cable-free smartphone connection using wireless SmartLink+ technology. Media devices or USB sticks can also be directly linked to the infotainment system via the two USB-C ports in the front out of the up to five USB-C ports; a 230-V socket in the rear is optional too. The acoustically optimised interior and the new optional Canton Sound System ensure perfect sound. ŠKODA has further improved the Virtual Cockpit for the new OCTAVIA. The latest generation of the digital and individually customisable instrument panel comes with a 10-inch screen and is now even more user-friendly. The driver can choose from four different layouts – Basic, Classic, Navigation and Driver Assistance Systems – and specify their desired content using the controls on the multifunction steering wheel. Users can now also opt to display the navigation system’s maps on the Virtual Cockpit and the central display measuring up to 10 inches in two different levels of zoom. Climatronic can be operated via an integrated bar at the bottom of the infotainment display. Via a new touch slider at the bottom of the infotainment system’s display, the volume can be adjusted using one finger and the navigation map can be zoomed in and out using two fingers. DSG with shift-by-wire technology The new OCTAVIA is the first ever ŠKODA to use shift-by-wire technology to operate its DSG transmission. The gear selector is no longer connected to the gearbox mechanically. Instead, it relays which gear has been chosen electronically. In place of the familiar DSG lever, there is therefore a new control module located in the OCTAVIA’s centre console with a small rocker switch for selecting the drive modes – R (reverse), N (neutral) and D/S (drive/sport) – as well as a button for the parking mode, P. Premiere for innovative assistance systems such as Collision Avoidance Assist and Exit Warning The fourth generation of the OCTAVIA sees the introduction of several new and innovative assistance systems, some of which are making their debut in a model made by the Czech manufacturer. The new Collision Avoidance Assist supports the driver by actively increasing the steering moment in the event of an impending collision with a pedestrian, cyclist or another vehicle – ideally preventing the accident with a controlled evasive manoeuvre. The Exit Warning system lets the driver know if another vehicle or a cyclist is approaching from behind when opening the car door. Using Hands-on Detect, the car is able to check whether the driver is touching the steering wheel consistently or whether they no longer have control of the vehicle due to a potential medical emergency. If such an emergency occurs, Emergency Assist can bring the car to a stop. ENGINES Modern engines with increased efficiency and premiere for mild-hybrid technology The new ŠKODA OCTAVIA features modern TDI and TSI engines with increased efficiency that, thanks to significantly improved aerodynamics, lower fuel consumption and pollutant emissions. In addition to the diesel and petrol engines, there is also a particularly eco-friendly variant with CNG drive, plug-in hybrid variants and, for the first time at ŠKODA, engines featuring mild-hybrid technology. When fitted with the 7-speed DSG, the three-cylinder 1.0 TSI producing 81 kW (110 PS) and the four-cylinder 1.5 TSI outputting 110 kW (150 PS) make use of a 48-V belt-driven starter motor and a 48-V lithium-ion battery. This makes it possible to ‘coast’ with the combustion engine completely switched off, recover energy whilst braking and support the engine with an electronic boost. At the same time, the engine is able to start more quietly and with fewer vibrations. Both engines are also available in combination with a 6-speed manual gearbox without mild-hybrid technology. The gearbox that comes with the 1.5 TSI was newly developed for engines that deliver high levels of torque and is being used in conjunction with the OCTAVIA’s diesel engines too. The 2.0 TSI with a power output of 140 kW (190 PS) is exclusively available with all-wheel drive and a 7-speed DSG. All of the TSIs are fitted with a petrol particulate filter. Plug-in hybrid with two different power variants Following on from the first ŠKODA plug-in hybrid, the ŠKODA SUPERB iV, the Czech brand is also offering the new OCTAVIA with a 1.4 TSI petrol engine – the OCTAVIA iV features an electric motor too – and even comes with two different power variants. As well as the model with a power output of 150 kW (204 PS), another version outputting 180 kW (245 PS) is planned to be added to the portfolio. Both variants will come with a 6-speed DSG. Diesels from the new EVO generation of engines emit up to 80 per cent less nitrogen oxide For the OCTAVIA, a total of three new diesel engines provide power outputs ranging from 85 KW (115 PS) to 147 kW (200 PS). The TDIs each have a 2.0-litre cylinder capacity and are from the newly developed EVO generation of engines, which have plenty of torque, and are both efficient and particularly clean. In addition to a diesel particulate filter, the engines are equipped with a new development stage in SCR exhaust gas treatment. Using what is known as ‘twin dosing’, AdBlue is specifically injected in front of two SCR catalytic converters that are arranged one after the other. This method and the use of the second catalytic converter reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by around 80 per cent in comparison to the previous generation of each engine. As a result, the EVO engines provide the technical preconditions to fulfil the future Euro 6d emissions standard. The variants delivering 110 kW (150 PS) and 147 kW (200 PS) are available with all-wheel drive as an option. G-TEC: CNG variant ŠKODA is also offering the fourth generation OCTAVIA as a G-TEC model with particularly eco-friendly CNG drive. Compared to a car running on petrol, the OCTAVIA G-TEC will thereby once again produce around 25 per cent less CO2, significantly less nitrogen oxide (NOx) and no soot particles. The 1.5 TSI providing 96 kW (130 PS) is designed to run on CNG. The total capacity of the three CNG tanks is 17.7 kg. If required, the car can make use of its 9-litre petrol tank too. Both body design variants of the OCTAVIA G-TEC are available with the choice of a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG transmission. Three chassis options and Dynamic Chassis Control Besides the standard chassis, ŠKODA is offering two other options for the OCTAVIA, a 15-mm-lower sports suspension and a Rough Road chassis providing 15 mm more ground clearance. Dynamic Chassis Control – which constantly adjusts the suspension and damping, provides a range of different profiles for Driving Mode Select – is available as an option. When fitted with DCC, the ground clearance remains unchanged in plug-in hybrids, all other variants are lowered by 10 mm. SIMPLY CLEVER Sleep package, convenient filler tube for AdBlue and USB-C port on the overhead console True to ŠKODA’s guiding principle of Simply Clever, the new OCTAVIA offers the highest degree of functionality as well. Several brand-typical Simply Clever solutions make day-to-day mobility easier for the driver and passengers. The Sleep package is available as an option for the first time in the OCTAVIA, giving the back seat two comfortable, larger headrests and a blanket. For the estate, an improved net package with comfortable use in the boot and an automatically retractable load cover are also new. A multifunction storage pocket below the boot cover offers further space for stowing items. Child safety locks for the rear doors can be operated electronically and the rear passengers can make use of two smartphone storage pockets on the front seatbacks. Two USB-C sockets are available in the front and, as an option, two in the rear; another optional USB-C port on the overhead console above the rear-view mirror is brand new. One classic ŠKODA feature is the umbrella in a storage compartment in the driver’s door; there is now space in this compartment for a hand brush as well, which is also a genuine ŠKODA accessory. The funnel integrated into the lid of the windscreen washer tank is present in the OCTAVIA too, whilst the optional tow bar can be electrically unlocked by pushing the corresponding button in the boot. The car also comes with a new, convenient filler tube for AdBlue, enabling it to be filled up using lorry pump nozzles too. HISTORY In January 2019, the OCTAVIA celebrated 60 years since its start of production. The first units of this legendary model range rolled off the production line at the plant in Mladá Boleslav at the beginning of 1959. In the mid-1990s, the first OCTAVIAs of the modern-day generation inherited the legacy from the popular compact car. The Czech car manufacturer has built more than 6.5 million OCTAVIAs since its launch in 1959. Over the past few years, the third generation of the large compact car has sold about 400,000 units a year worldwide, accounting for about one third of ŠKODA’s total sales. Currently, the OCTAVIA is the overall bestselling model in the Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Hungary, Poland, Serbia and Belarus. The leading role in this success story is played by the COMBI variant: nearly two thirds of all OCTAVIA buyers opt for this body design. The OCTAVIA is the bestselling estate in Europe and the most popular import car in Germany. Therefore, ŠKODA AUTO will first launch the COMBI variant of the bestseller’s latest edition; the hatchback will follow a few weeks later.
  12. The Skoda Karoq will launch this May with an all-new exterior design, advanced driver assistance technology and four new turbocharged engines. Ditching the unique exterior shape of its predecessor, the Yeti, for a more conventional SUV body, the Karoq shares many features with the larger Kodiaq, which it sits below in Skoda’s line-up. The Karoq has space for five passengers and has a boot capacity of 521 litres or 1630 litres with the back seats folded down. This comfortably beats the car’s main rival, the Nissan Qashqai, which offers 430 and 1585 litres respectively. Built on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform, shared with models such as the Audi Q2 and Seat Ateca, the Karoq comes with a choice of five turbocharged engines, four of which are new to Skoda. The new petrol engines are an entry-level 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder with 113bhp and 129lb ft and a 1.5-litre TSI with 148bhp and 184lb ft, with the latter enabling an 8.4sec 0-62mph time and featuring active cylinder technology. There’s a new diesel 1.6-litre TDI that produces 113bhp and 184lb ft while emitting just 118g/km of CO2, and a new 2.0-litre TDI that outputs 187bhp and 295lb ft, enabling a 7.8sec 0-62mph time – the quickest available. These new Skoda units are joined by a 2.0-litre TDI that’s familiar to the brand, which produces 148bhp and is the most fuel-efficient engine, offering 64.2mpg combined and outputting 115g/km CO2. The Karoq comes in two and four-wheel drive guises and with a choice of a six-speed manual of seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox. In higher-spec it comes with Skoda’s Drive Mode Select system, which enables the car’s drivetrain to be switched through Normal, Sport, Eco, Individual and Snow. Driver assist systems include a radar-based adaptive cruise control, blind spot detect and front assist, which includes automatic city braking with a pedestrian braking system. There’s also hill hold control to prevent roll back and emergency assistance, which can intervene if the driver becomes incapable of driving and adaptive cruise control and lane assist are on. In-car, technology includes gesture control for certain functions, wireless phone charging, as well as a mobile online connection that works with the infotainment. In top spec, the infotainment has a screen of up to 9.2in and three other displays, including a new digital instrument cluster that makes its debut in a Skoda. Skoda is yet to confirm pricing, but the Karoq’s expected to follow the brand’s aggressive pricing strategy and undercut the Nissan Qashqai, and therefore stick closely to the current model's £17,770 starting price. The Kodiaq, which starts at £21,565, is around £1300 cheaper than its main rival, the Nissan X-Trail.
  13. The driver of a yellow Honda fit attempted to evade carpark payment but ended up failing and was confronted by the driver of the white Skoda Octavia he was tailgating instead. Here's the video This incident took place at the carpark of Takashimaya. In the video, the yellow Honda Fit tries to evade parking fees by tailgating a white Skoda Octavia. But the driver of the Octavia was having none of it and intentionally blocked the Honda Fit. Leaving it awkwardly stuck under the gantry arm. The Skoda driver then exits his car in agitation while walking towards the Honda Fit to confront the driver. Noteworthy: There is an ongoing promotion for 2 hours of free parking at Ngee Ann City, with no minimum spend. Is it worth committing a parking offence over that few dollars? If guilty of tailgating at an EPS exit gantry to avoid payment, the Honda Fit driver could face a $70 fine. Repeat offenders may be charged in court. Netizens' comments The conclusion seems to be clear-cut 🤐 Undoubtedly, there has been an increased occurrence of payment evasion offences, with these offences being committed by tailgating the front vehicle. Here are some recent cases of payment evasion: Mitsubishi Lancer tailgating camcar out of carpark Hyundai Avante tailgating and got confronted by camcar Toyota Sienta tailgating camcar out of SuperBowl Jurong carpark However, the most unusual occurrence of payment evasion belongs to this purple Volkswagen Scirocco. TBH, I am damn puzzled as to why the driver damaged his Scirocco to evade paying his carpark fees. The math just does not add up. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. We’ll even give you $100 cash if you find a better offer elsewhere! 14. For this video review, it's the Skoda Superb Laurin & Klement! In case you don't already know, Laurin & Klement are the surnames of Skoda's founders, and the brand pays homage to them by labelling the top specification of certain models with Laurin & Klement, to reflect the slightly special status of that particular car being the top trim level. And Idris will be showing you how superb the Skoda Superb is. And yes, if the words Skoda Superb ring a bell.... If there's one thing Skoda has really gotten right these past few years, it's how increasingly handsome their cars have become. To this writer, the attractiveness of the front fascia is balanced and not all in your face "look at me, I'm handsome". There's a certain amount of restraint and this writer certainly appreciates it. And like mentioned above, any Skoda with the Laurin & Klement badge is the top trim level of that particular Skoda model. Yes, it's pronounced "schko-da", not "sko-da" For a car in its class, the Superb really has a superb amount of boot space, 625 litres worth. That should be more than enough for an extended run to the supermarket with a detour for even more shopping. At Idris' height, look at the amount of legroom he still has. That really is generous. Trickling down from the higher echelon brands in the Volkswagen Audi Group, the virtual cockpit, which initially debuted in Audi models, has now made its way to Skoda. In case anyone is wondering, Julian is the editor of sgCarMart. And this writer agrees with him, ventilated seats are very nice indeed. There is just something so pleasing about having cold air blown at your back and backside while you sit, and getting out of the car without a slightly sweaty back. Especially in our climate, ventilated seats are a must. Pity not many cars have them still. And yes, Idris has said it. Want to find out more? Watch the full video to find out all Idris has to say about the Skoda Superb!

Nothing can stop sgCarMart and Skoda from getting the best deals for its members and followers. That is why, in post-pandemic 2020, the first-ever sgCarMart E-MarkDown event was kicked off with a Facebook livestream at the familiar Skoda showroom at 26 Leng Kee Road, hosted by the entertaining duo, Julian and Idris, from sgCarMart's Editorial Team. If you are familiar with the past sgCarMart and MyCarForum MarkDown events, you will know that it is the one to attend if you are seeking the best deals on any car purchased. The E-MarkDown event does the same, allowing you to enjoy the same great deals and attractive prizes from the comfort and safety of your home, on a virtual livestream. Without "wasting any youth" (as Julian often quotes), the Octavia's enormous boot was put in the spotlight. Viewers were invited to like, share and comment 'Skoda Smart' on the livestream to stand a chance to win grocery vouchers worth up to $100! The dynamic duo moved on to introduce the abundant features in the Skoda Octavia, including 7 airbags which ensure the safety of driver and passengers. With lucky winners of the Octavia quiz selected, the special, special price of the Octavia Ambition and Ambition Plus were revealed - starting from just $99,900! The first 20 viewers who commented "Octavia Now" will also be getting an Apple iPad Pro worth $1,500 with their purchase of an Octavia! 18. Known for their versatility and practicality, Skoda cars have proven to be the perfect vehicles to provide assistance to those in need. What makes a good vehicle to assist those in need? Is it space, performance, or its capabilities in various road conditions? Such a vehicle must be able to adapt to changing environments quickly and effectively. At the same time, it has to be quick - be it serving the needs for cyclists in a race, or responding to life-threatening situations in emergencies. Skoda vehicles are the perfect combination. Known for their high level of practicality and versatility, they offer the best when it comes to the needs and wants of emergency services around the world. It is no surprise then, that Skodas have been spotted serving in emergency departments, to notable racing events around the world such as the Dakar Rally, and the Tour de France cycling race. A long history of service Skodas aren't new to the game when it comes to offering emergency vehicles, with a history that spans over 110 years. Laurin & Klement is a nameplate we recognise for top-of-the-line Skodas today. Back then, it was an automobile manufacturer, making coach built cars that were designed for ambulance use. What they came up with in 1906 was the C1 military ambulance. It had the ability to carry four patients. It proved to be effective transporting wounded soldiers during the war. In the following years, the versatility and practicality of Skodas stood out. In the 1960s, Vehicles like the Skoda 1203 were not just used for ambulances, but as commercial vans too. The versatile ambulance The good qualities that a Skoda offers work hand in hand with the operational needs emergency vehicles require. That point stays true today. It is no wonder that fast medical response teams around the world choose to use Skoda vehicles. Skoda's versatile SUV, the Kodiaq, fully represents this when used as an ambulance. Outfitted for medical use, it is decked out in equipment ranging from defibrillators, to even a backup electricity source. It even supports an air ambulance service in the U.K. The fast Kodiaq VRS covers ground in areas helicopters can't reach, transporting important medical personnel and equipment quickly and safely - with enough room to spare. Hard police work It isn't just about responding to medical emergencies. Police departments need vehicles that are dependable, with enough pace to respond to incidents, yet with space to deal with protective equipment such as bulletproof vests, shields and warning lamps. You can easily see why Skodas work just as well here. Usually, extensive modifications are required to fit communications equipment, for example. But in the case of the Kodiaq, it fits perfectly in the centre compartment. Thanks to the sturdy nature of Skoda vehicles, not many alterations are required either, despite the added weight of police equipment. Combined with excellent on-road performance and enough off-road abilities, it means police officers can attend to the toughest of situations quickly and effectively, every day. Going undercover One of our favourite highlights of Skodas are that they're inconspicuous, yet practical. Skoda has made the perfect cars for unmarked police vehicles, too. Skoda vehicles have found use in highway patrol units in the U.K., with the RS245 taking centre stage. With 241bhp on tap along with an unassuming exterior, it is almost guaranteed that the RS will be a dependable vehicle for highway patrol officers, be it responding quickly to an incident, or when in pursuit. Skoda even has a bulletproof version of the Superb. Almost indistinguishable from your regular Superb, it is built from high-strength steel with bullet-resistant glass. Serving two wheelers today Today, Skoda isn't just supporting emergency services with its versatile range of vehicles. Many sporting events require support vehicles. And perhaps one of the most physically demanding events are cycling tours, where Skoda vehicles are a common spot. We've seen how difficult it can get. During the Bike 'n' Blade charity cycling event last year, Skodas again proved their worth. Supporting over a 100 cyclists riding up Cameron Highlands, the Skodas used were able to carry medical supplies, bicycle spares and even refreshments for the cyclists, as they conquered over 1,400m in elevation changes. It is no surprise then, that Skoda has been the main partner of the Tour de France race for sixteen years in a row. Come this August, the Tour de France will be back, with over 150 riders covering over 3,000km. And you'll be sure to spot a Skoda, always there for those who ride.
  19. Skoda takes on Mazda MX-5 with new Scala-based open-top roadster source: https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-news/skoda-takes-on-mazda-mx-5-with-new-scala-based-open-top-roadster-79870 Skoda has surprisingly revealed its very own Mazda MX-5 rival, the Slavia, which is an open-top roadster based on the incoming Scala small hatch. But before you get too excited, it’s worth noting the Slavia is just a concept. In fact, it’s the latest one from the Skoda vocational school in Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic, which annually tasks students to produce a one-off vehicle in-house. Inspired by the 1958 Skoda 1100 OHC racecar, the Slavia naturally started life as a Scala, but soon its roof was removed and rear doors welded in place, while its underbody was reinforced. Then a rear cover was added behind the Slavia’s remaining front seats, with it highlighted by two flying buttresses that integrate into the redesigned bootlid, which is topped by a prominent spoiler. As a result, it measures 4362mm long, 1793mm wide and 1410mm tall. Finished in White Crystal Blue paintwork, the Slavia borrows its 20-inch Xtreme alloy wheels (with 235/30 tyres) from the Kodiaq RS large SUV, while its brakes package and wheel hubs are shared with the Octavia RS mid-size car. It also gets an upgraded exhaust system. That said, the Slavia’s most striking feature is its underbody LED lighting, which can be set to blue, red or white. And to really cap the exterior transformation off, the bootlid’s Skoda lettering doubles as a brake or reversing light. Inside, the Slavia stands out from the Scala crowd with its Sparco race seats, four-point seatbelts, black perforated leather upholstery with carbon trim and white stitching and piping. The steering wheel and gear selector are also trimmed in white leather up top. Like the Scala, the Slavia is powered by a 110kW/250Nm turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine, which sends drive exclusively to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. As reported, the Scala is due in Australian showrooms imminently, with its four-variant range priced between $27,690 and $34,690 plus on-road costs.
  20. Hi all A newbie here..looking to get a Karoq but really worried about the Skoda brand and the resale value etc...the new RAV4 is also a great bet and pretty much similarly priced...I have decided that the CX5 wouldn't be worth it due to smaller boot space and other items...3 year warranty only etc.. Any thoughts? Can some Karoq owner PM me or assist. Also what do you think how long will the karoq take to deliver...and the best price u have received for Style version. TIA!
  21. My fog light is damaged and need replacement along with some scratches near the light. Any workshop to recommend that deal with skoda parts?
  22. I recently headed to Scotland for a seven-day road trip with my sister, and it would be an understatement to say that we didn't do much planning ahead of time. Hell, I only packed my luggage about six hours before my outbound flight from Singapore. We figured that we could make it up along the way (and we pretty much did). If you're thinking of making plans for a road trip holiday to Scotland, here are seven tips that I have gleaned from my time there. 1. Pick the right car Choosing the 'right' car can really make or break a roadtrip. In many ways, it's a balancing act - you could go for something affordable, compact and fuel efficient, but compromise on boot space, engine power and driving fun. Alternatively, you could opt for something more premium and high-performance, but that obviously comes at a greater financial cost, petrol and otherwise. I'd really recommend something that's comfortable and easy to drive (you'll be doing many hours of driving) and has good amounts of space. Having heated seats is also a big bonus during the winter time. The Skoda Superb that I elected on manages to strike a great balance. It's easy to drive, comfortable over long distances and has an enormous boot. At the same time, the 2.0-litre engine provides plenty of punch for the occasional frisky driving, while still being reasonably fuel efficient. 2. Pack warm, very warm It gets cold in Scotland in November. In places like Fort William and Inverness, temperatures can easily drop to sub-zero. So, you want to make sure that you wrap up and keep warm. Bring gloves, a beanie, and a comfortable and thick down jacket. The weather can be quite erratic too. A bright sunny day can be punctuated by the occasional 20-minute torrential rain, or you might get a persistent bout of light drizzle. Be sure to pack an umbrella and a waterproof outer layer, too. 3. Make sure you have data Especially if you're heading out into the countryside (where Scotland is most beautiful), you want to be sure that you have mobile data. Beyond just navigation, it also lets you search for nearby attractions, places to eat, and perhaps the nearest petrol station as well. This is especially important if you don't have a clearly planned out itinerary (like us). You don't want to be reliant on finding a wi-fi hotspot - there'll be long stretches of road/driving where wi-fi is simply not an option. Having data also ensures that you have ready access to Spotify, important during some of the longer stretches of driving as you move from one location to another. 4. Indulge in local delights Yes, most people probably know about haggis, a Scottish dish of sheep puck that's famously divisive (I personally really enjoy it). But, there's plenty of other local fare to be enjoyed, most notably the seafood. Additionally, be sure to also chat with the locals. The Scottish people are an extremely friendly, charming and humorous bunch. It might take a moment or two to acquaint to the heavy Scottish accent, but once you do you'll realise that the locals are a deeply sardonic and yet warm and welcoming bunch of people. 5. Start each day early In the wintertime, the sun sets around 4:30pm every day. And, when it gets dark, it gets really dark. To maximise your daylight hours, you should start each day early (the sky is bright by about 7:30am each morning). Take full advantage of the available daylight hours by going on morning hikes up to some picturesque locations, visit as many whisky distilleries as you can cram into one afternoon, or just soak in the crisp air and blissful serenity. 6. Drive safe The roads are largely quiet this time of the year, and Scottish drivers are generally very courteous, but you still want to be careful. You'll encounter many narrow single track roads, and potholes are fairly abundant. It would also be wise to stock up on snacks and water whenever you can. Snacks are useful for keeping yourself alert and awake, especially on long journey or when driving at night. Also, if you do decide to drive at night (or basically anytime after 5:00pm in November), you want to be extra careful. Between towns, the roads are long, narrow, windy and 100% unlit. 7. Pray for good weather There's not much you can do in terms of 'plannin'’ the weather, but pray nonetheless (do a rain dance if you have to). Having good weather (ie. no rain) can make all the difference between a cheerful and a dreary, depressing day. It also means that the hundreds of photos you take will turn out much more vibrant and beautiful.
  23. Anyone keen in this Seat Ibiza 1.4 Cupra Bocanegra? Looks nice and fierce from the front. Really 1 and only one driving it here. http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_...p?CarCode=11058
  24. MORE POWER BABY! SgCarMart is back with yet another video review, and boy do we have something special for all you motorheads today. If you're looking for maximum horsepower, but are still shopping within a reasonable budget (because you know, real life and stuff) look no further than the Skoda Octavia RS 245! As you'd expect, a performance saloon has to be practical, and the Skoda delivers practicality by the buckets (as all Skodas do of course) with its liftback tailgate. But will James fit inside the boot? Hell yes! And even from here I can hear James asking me to paint him like one of my French girls. Oh no! His face looks glum. Does voice recognition work in the Skoda? You'll just have to watch the video to find out! And of course we take the car out for a good spin! Is 241bhp enough to deliver thrilling performance in this sedan? The faces of our three musketeers seem to suggest so! I leave all of you with a final incentive to watch the video. Damm, you know that sensation when you just stand on the accelerator? Do leave a like and drop a comment!
