  1. Hi, any bros here got experience with PI? I've always bought from AD but for my next ride i'm considering PI as well. Is there anything that one needs to take note? And also i realise the recommended selling price indicated here in sgcarmart can be quite different from the price listed by some of the PIs. Any idea why is that so? Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.
  2. Have tried a few workshops so far on my humble ride, and none have been up to the mark. Visited Autobacs Bukit Batok for the most recent services, and thought the relatively big player would cherish its name in the trade, and how wrong I was. The service package was supposed to include x number of checks on lighting, tyres, brake system, etc, etc. But the outcome was: a headlight has been spoilt for months but plainly missed out during the check, tyre pressue was not checked again (the second time with this workshop already). Returned to the workshop to highlight the negligence (or shall I say a con job as i paid for those checks, didn't I?), only to be offered bull**it excuses. Is it so hard to find a trustworthy workshop in Singapore? Where is professionalism and integrity? Or do you guys always stand by the mechanic while he performs the job?
  3. Horoscope Anybody got trustworthy predictions to share? Thanks
  4. Parallel importers of cars have had a patchy reputation since they first appeared in the early 1990s to give authorised agents a run for their money. But in about a fortnight's time, some will take a stab at respectability by enrolling in a certification scheme run by consumer watchdog Consumers Association of Singapore (Case). The scheme, called CaseTrust, will see Case officers examining the practices and books of parallel importers. Those deemed trustworthy can display the CaseTrust, logo at their showrooms. Industries which have joined CaseTrust include employment agencies, renovation contractors and travel agents. This is the first time firms in the motor trade are joining the scheme, even though car-related complaints- involving mainly parallel importers and used car dealers regularly top Case charts. The notoriety is shared by time-share firms, beauty salons and property agents. Case said it received 757 complaints against motor firms in the first six months, of which 61 were handed over to the association to resolve. Of these, 52 involved parallel importers .Singapore Vehicle Traders Association president Neo Nam Heng, the parallel importer which is the main driver behind the move, said: "We want to segregate the bad eggs from the rest to enhance the image of the trade". Motor companies that want to be CaseTrust-certified must undergo a stringent audit by Case. Their track record and financial health will be scrutinised and they must not accumulate more than five complaints a year. Observers said this should weed out fly-by-night outfits which keep changing names and locations because of soured deals with customers. "There will be no $2 companies," Mr Neo said. Companies will also have to put their money where their mouth is. They must buy a $50,000 insurance bond, which will be used to settle disputes with customers. Disputes will be settled by a panel which includes representatives from Case, theFinancial Industry Disputes Resolution Centre and a retired court judge. If the panel decides that the dealer is in the wrong, the insurance firm will pay the consumer. It will then recover the sum from the dealer responsible. Mr Neo said: "This is a resolution body that will have real teeth." CaseTrust for the motor trade is expected to be launched at the end of the month. Case executive director Seah Seng Choon said the industry's move shows, "resolve and commitment to clean up the image of the industry". But the Motor Traders Association, a body for authorised car agents, had a lukewarm response. President Michael Wong said:"The question is what can the scheme do for me. I've been around for over 20 years and I'm not about to collapse like a deck of cards." How to get certified... [rolleyes] THE Consumers Association of Singapore (Case) will spend four to six weeks auditing a motor company before deciding if it can be CaseTrust-certified. They will have to abide by a code of conduct, which says: Dealers must refund the deposit if the customer's car loan application is not approved. However, they may be allowed to charge an administrative fee of up to $500. Dealers must state clearly the certificate of entitlement (COE) amount they will bid. Currently, many fudge this. Some delay bids for certain customers so they can use their deposits to bid for buyers who pay higher prices. The COE rebate level must also be specified. This refers to the amount of rebate a buyer is entitled to if the COE premium falls. The delivery timeframe must be clearly stated. The guideline discussed is 48 days. Equipment and accessories must be clearly noted. Sometimes, promises from the salesman- such as alloy wheels and leather upholstery- go unfulfilled. The vehicle's year of manufacture must be clearly stated. Warranty terms must be clearly stated. Customers must be alerted to safety recalls
  5. One of my friend got into an accident with a cab yesterday Cab was stopping along a single way, dropping his passengers along the driveway of a condo's carpark. As the driveway is wide enough for 2 cars to pass through without difficulties, my friend drove pass the cab when the cabbie suddenly open his door & wanked onto the front fender of her ride The incident was witnessed by the security guards as well as taken down by the security camera of the premises but the cabbie dunno According to her, cabbie came out of the ride looking quite apologistic and offer to settle the repair privately Both exchanged their phones and proceed to the agent to check out the price. Halfway there, cabbie changed his mind and informed my friend that he wants to claim insurance instead. Both drove into a petrol kiosk to 'Talk' In the petrol kiosk, cabbie changed his face & started to KPKB and said that my friend, got no licence (Cos my friend do not want to hand over hers as cabbie refuse to give her his particulars) & had knocked into his cab instead As friend was not much into this insurance claim thingy, she called me up. After talking with her, i know that this cabbie now wanna play punk Told her to wait for me while i zoom down. However, i still told her to try to write a black & white which indicate that the cabbie is at fault & let that cabbie signed (Though i know that chances are zero but nevertheless we still give it a try ) Cabbie of course refused and continued KPKB-ing. Then i told her to get the photos of her damaged portion plus the cabbie's ride with his licence plate number and also contact her security department for the witness thingy Dunno if it is Tee Gong got eyes but at the petrol kiosk while the cabbie was KPKB-ing pretty loudly at her, one of her cousin was there doing re-filling & went to her help. Cabbie on seeing that a Tar Por is around then tone down his tone & attitude As the necessary thingy have all been taken down, both left the petrol kiosk. However, before leaving, cabbie said that he will report his 'Story' to the insurance company But my friend told cabbie, whatever story which he is going to make up would be useless because the security camera & security guards had truly witness the whole incident. The cabbie's face At the agent's accident claim dept, the people there was helpful and with all the details plus witness, the claim is said to be able to proceed without affecting her NCD My friend called me up while i was halfway reaching that things had already been settle else i will sure make him remember my Deceipticon face for the rest of his life This is to teach us that it is this type of fxcking cabbie that made a bad name for the whole cabbie industry
