  1. Hello guys I'm planning to get my first 2nd hand car soon. I'm seriously a noob when it comes to buying cars. I'm pretty sure those car dealers can smell my 'noobness' when i go car shopping. To those pple here who have bought 2nd hand cars a couple of times, pls list your top 5 must ask questions to the dealer. I think many of us new to buying cars can use such questions to our benefit when we go car shopping. So please shoot away.
  2. Hi All Apologise first if there is another thread elsewhere on this but i did my search and the only thing that came back was all the "carrot" topics. Anyway as per topic, anyone here used carro (https://carro.sg/) to sell their car? Good or no good? How does it compare to other similar platforms? Would appreciate if you could share your experience, good or otherwise. Thanks!!
  3. Hi , Anyone know how to apply for new car plate number when buying used car ? Can’t find the detail from one motoring , just wanted a new number without bidding . The bidding or retain old car number cost min 1000 . Thanks
  4. Anyone has any lawyer to recommend to face dealer for mileage tamper? possible to take it to court under fraud?
  5. Has anyone heard of or used before this service https://www.airbnb.com.sg/? Basically when you travel to a foreign country for a vacation, instead of securing your accommodation from the usual source such as hotels, motels or hostels, airbnb.com.sg brings together hosts from the country who are willing to rent out their room for you to live in. In layman terms, they play host to you, the guests. This isn't anything new (for me it is) and I am trying to find accommodations for my vacation next year and am wondering if anyone has any experience to share (both good and bad). What do you guys think of this idea or would you rather stay in a standard hotel? I will only be traveling with a fellow girlfriend hence I kinda liked the idea that airbnb.com.sg offers. Some of the prices available there are rather attractive, beautiful rooms, near popular tourist spots etc. Pros: Might be cheaper than hotels Able to live with the local hosts and learn more about their culture Some hosts could be really amazing people Some of the apartments/rooms are really beautiful Cons: Nothing scarier than a bad host Took some screenshots using Gold Coast as an example. Can't see the words but what it says is basically house rules etc.
  6. Looking for used working laptop for work and home use. Prefer 14 inch, not too old model. No high Budget Anyone wanting to let go, PM me.
  7. I have just seen cases of used car dealers adjusting the mileage of the cars advertised on SGCarMart. Is this against the law? My recent ex-ride is one such case.
  8. Hi friends As above. I'm considering a BMW 740i 3-litre or a Porsche Panamera 3-litre. Any comments? I also welcome any other suggestions. Thank you in advance.
  9. Hi all, Am driving a relatively new sedan now, n with old parents n young kids in tow, car space is not enuf to ferry all at the same time.. Hope bros can kindly share your experiences in getting a used 7 seater MPV to meet yr family needs.. I'm partial towards honda odyssey (2012/2013 RB series) & estima, n was wondering if there's any other options available.. Thanks in advance for your kind inputs..kam Sia.. http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2659369-odyssey-or-estima/
  10. Any Bros or Sis know where I can get used Truck/Tractor tires (Any huge tires) in SG?
  11. I’ve been browsing the used car section many years ago and occasionally when I come across a car a like or an unusual car, I’ll screenshot the ad. Some were captured years ago and it’s interesting to see how prices have changed. Please feel free to share your collection as well!
  12. What is your first impression upon seeing the following advertisement, as a general public / consumer? While I believe many seasoned buyers would expect the "from" price to be that of the lesser model (e.g. entry level trim, lower priced model, etc.), I don't think anyone would expect it to be for USED CAR! https://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=1075337&DL=2038 https://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.php?ID=1078169&DL=2213 Taking the Volvo S60 / V60 advertisement for example, anything that make it look like a used car advertisement? Used car need to "Book" and can choose to be registered (re-registered) in April meh? Wow... Wearnes Automotive and Vertex Automobile have really taken things to a new low! There might be more ADs doing the same... beware!
  13. Hi all, new potential 2nd hand car buyer here. Looking to get a 2nd hand car in the near future. Browsed through sgcarmart and I have shortlisted a few models of car. 1. Audi A3 Sedan 1.4A TFSI Ambiente The cars i shortlisted are roughly the same in terms of age (3Y8M left) and price (50k) 2. Ssangyong Tivoli 1.6A I personally like the way it looks. However, I do not really see much of this model on the roads and was wondering if there is a particular reason so. Years left is decent (4Y8M) , price (56k) I have also looked at Kia Cerato as well as Hyundai Elantra. Would like to seek your thoughts on which would be a more worthwhile car and if so, what other cars would be an alternative? Really appreciate the help and all advice in advance!
  14. Can someone explain what these car entails? It seems you will be given a new 10 year COE but the OMV is murky. The description is always "eligible for PARF rebate". What does this mean? I understand they are used but it is much cheaper than a comparative second hand vehicle. Why? I also understand you can also bid for these cars yourself in auctions. Guess after that you settle the COE, Tax etc yourself. Cash settlement I believe. Insight welcome.
  15. Hi all, doing my homework on selling my cars. I prefer not to trade in. Any feedback on using the following to sell our cars? 1) Wheeldeal - new player, FOC quote 2) Quotz - need to pay for service, they help you take pictures and arrange for bidding, can view bidding process "live" 3) List on SGCarmart as owner selling - more control, can sell direct cutting out the middleman, more hassle from the transfer work? Are there any difference in the method of choice in selling depending on the type and model of cars? eg. bread and butter popular models (altis, sunny, civic) just sell to highest and hand dealer eg. rarer less common and niche models (saab, chryser) list and sell to direct buyers who appreciate such cars Thanks!
  16. Anyone knows which center is more reliable to go for used car evaluation before purchase

  19. CHARITY IN SINGAPORE: WHERE TO DONATE USED FURNITURE, CLOTHES, TOYS AND BOOKS Sources from: http://www.honeykidsasia.com/singapore/mums-cat/charity-singapore-donation/ Make a difference by giving back to society. Passing on your gently used goods to charity is a great way to improve the lives of others while minimising waste Have you been thinking about donating some of your clothes, household goods and toys to somebody more in need? The old adage, ‘it’s better to give than to receive, could not be more relevant here in Singapore where many of us have more than we need. Truthfully, all the shoes (even Louboutins!) or Pinterest-worthyhouse interiors couldn’t put as big a smile on our face as helping a child or family by giving to charity orvolunteering with your kids. If you don’t have extra time to dedicate to helping the charity of your choice, donating your pre-loved (and gently used) items is a great way to give back while minimising wastage. Check out our guide to donating in Singapore, round up the kids and start scouring for things to pass on to somebody who needs it more… Drop off your gently used items from the wish list at any of the collection centres mentioned Help furnish a school for kids in Cambodia Where: White Lodge preschool’s annual charity drive for The Green Umbrella Organisation, a Cambodia-based NGO that focuses on improving the living standards and basic education of children. This year’s drive, from 1st to 30th September is dedicated to furnishing Green Umbrella’s new school annexe in Cambodia. The donated items will improve the educational opportunities for children living in impoverished conditions from kindergarten to Grade 3. On 29 August, White Lodge at Loewen Gardens is hosting the launch of new children’s book My First 7 Days in Singapore by local mum Shyla Matthew – one hundred per cent of the proceeds help fund the transportation of containers of donated goods to Cambodia. Bring items to donate, pick up a copy of the book and enjoy entertainment for the kids, including games, storytelling and delicious food served by The Pantry. What: Items on the wish list include kindergarten furniture, bookcases, bean bags, rugs, science equipment, wooden toys, school bags, stationery for school and art materials. Encourage textile recycling by letting go of your old clothes Where: The H&M global garment collecting initiative promotes textile recycling (tons of clothes end up in landfills every year!) and reduces waste. Your old clothes will be given a new lease of life by either being marketed as second-hand goods or reprocessed as textile fibres or insulation materials if they’re no longer suitable for wear. What: Donate your pre-loved clothes. Whether they’re worn, torn or completely out of style, they’re worthy of being donated to this initiative. Simply drop them off at the nearest outlet – and you’ll receive a $5 voucher off your next purchase! H&M, various locations; www.hm.com/sg/garment-collecting. Tips for donating to charity Donate meaningfully. Understand the charity’s mission and items most needed by recipients of donations. For example, victims of a natural disaster may require blankets, torch lights, sweaters or canned food, while charities working towards building schools will require furniture or stationery. Donate appropriately. Before you give your things away, consider whether you’d purchase them at a second-hand store. Check items for wear and tear and make sure they’re still in usable or good condition. Otherwise, the donation centre may have to throw them away, and the cost of disposing of masses of donated goods that cannot be used is a serious financial burden faced by many charities. Donate efficiently. Help make the volunteers’ jobs a lot easier by taking a few extra minutes to organise and pack things in groups that go together.

  21. Hi folks, probably feeling a tad suicidal or something but was wondering if any of you here owned fiats before? I saw a listing for a used Fiat 500 manual and got me tingling abit. Was wondering if it is really as horrific as it was thought to have been? Or perhaps in some ways, the drive and ownership is somewhat rewarding? or the tradeoffs perhaps? Some tips of the trade or some some? Any tip would be good. Thanks
