If I was the taliban I would get all my young men to join the army for the last 5 years. Imagine 300,000 men getting a salary for the last 5 years and know all the army secrets. Then now just stand there and let their taliban brothers walk in and take all the big cities!

The aircraft came down in the Deh Yak district of Ghazni, to the south west of Kabul, a provincial spokesman told local media. The plane crashed and caught fire due to technical reasons, the spokesman said. The plane was initially reported to have belonged to Ariana Airlines but they have now denied this. No details about casualties have been given. This is a developing story.

Dashboard camera captures horrific cargo plane crash in Afghanistan

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icfVsql38oc A National Airlines B747-400 cargo plane was involved in an accident at Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan on 29nd April 2013. The fateful flight from Bagram to Dubai crashed on takeoff, killing all seven crew members on board. The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the crash. This is a pure cargo flight with no passengers aboard. The cargo consisted of vehicles and routine general cargo. The whole incident has been captured by a dashboard camera. According to military sources in Pentagon and Afghanistan, the video was most likely filmed by a service crew ferrying security at Bagram Airfield. Nope not another Hollywood blockbuster movie but an actual crash in Afghanistan. Since Vietnam till today, never cease to amaze me how troopers dare to charge into battle in choppers with skins as thick as those of our B&B cars. And the crews either in troop carrier or gunship mode (other than dedicated ones like Apaches) helicopters must have nerves of steel and have b*lls made of brass to be daring enough to maneuver their ships into war zones & out. KABUL, July 1, 2010 (AFP) - A NATO soldier died in an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan Thursday, the military alliance said, the first casualty of this month after a toll of more than 100 deaths in June. The soldier died "following an insurgent attack in southern Afghanistan today," NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said in a statement, without giving further details. A total of 102 foreign soldiers died as a result of the Afghan war in June, making it the deadliest month for international forces since the conflict began at the end of 2001. June's toll was almost triple the figure for May and significantly higher than the previous monthly record of 77 last August. But senior military commanders, including the new commander of foreign forces in Afghanistan, US General David Petraeus, have warned of a fierce summer of fighting to come. So far this year 323 foreign soldiers have died in Afghanistan, compared to 520 for the whole 2009, according to an AFP count based on the independent icasualties.org website. The website tracks military deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq, two US-led wars involving Al-Qaeda-linked Islamist militants. There are about 140,000 foreign, mostly US, forces stationed in Afghanistan. The troops are battling Taliban and other insurgents who are trying to topple the government of President Hamid Karzai.
