  1. Bad Repair Experience at MTE Garage My first time owning a Volvo V40 Cross Country D2 Diesel engine car (my previous cars…Merc E200, E250 Cabrio and GLA180) …all with no major service or repairs issue. The drive on the Volvo was great, very smooth and torque was very good too…was enjoying the ride until the first pump of diesel – 41 L full tank, managed to get about 380km on the meter? I read from the Volvo manufacture manual…this model mileage is about 800km per 40L(20/24KM/Litre) Since I have no specialize Volvo workshop to send to…..I google online and came upon the said workshop, claimed to be specialized in Volvos. 1. Text the boss on 25th May and told him my car issues, and make an appt on 31/5 2. They did a computer diagnostic check and the fault code read- No.2 fuel injector problem. 3. Quoted to change ALL four injectors for $2,500. 4. Spoke to the boss and said, since fault code shows only No.2 Injector malfunction, can just change one fuel injector only? He says best to change all fours. 5. I find it too costly to change all four and wanted them to change only the No.2 injector only…quoted me $950 for one injector. 6. Total bill came to $1,444.50 which include changing Air pipe, fuel filter and one injector. 7. Test drive the car and I noticed a loud tapping sound (often hear from lorries or taxis), the supervisor says this is normal after changing injector and will go off after a few days? 8. On 6th May, I text the boss to give my feedback…engine cannot start,. need to crank a few times - cold start, tapping sound is even louder…he says because I did not change all 4 injectors, but I say since computer fault code No.2 injector only and he say can try….and now is even worse than before. 9. I managed to find another specialist and send car over for second opinion. 10. Same thing…after checking with the computer system…fault code still shows No.2 injector. (no charge after spending more than an hour, asked me to go back to the workshop and see if they can rectify) 11. Drove back to MTE, the boss tone was different now, keep insisting all 4 injectors need to be changed. He was reluctant is check and say if after checking still the same…will charge me for labor- $400. 12. I was pissed, and told him what kind of after sales service is this…spend $1,444 and car is in worst shape than before. He relented and ask his mechanics to run a few test….to a point of getting another new injector to replace the recent changed injector…. after a few hours of switching the injectors …the fault code still the same, tapping sound, no power. 13. He was very sure all 4 injectors need to replace …period. 14. Lost confidence in him, after a few days of hash driving (almost wanted to sell the car away) …I make an appt with the second workshop – Gary’s 15. After changing the No.2 injector and some tuning…car running smoothly…no more Tapping sound, the torque is back…told me that my V40 is a cross country, so the specs slightly different from V40…make sense. 16. I text MTE to tell him the findings and my car is now running perfectly …I asked him if the injector could be returned back to the Spare parts shop for refund as they have given the wrong part for my car. (he mentioned to me before that the parts he take from have warranty) 17. Toned changed now…items installed cant be refund, ask for proof the parts are wrong….I said, the workshop, the car and me are the best proof…I have no problem now. 18. Since he is not going to help, told him I will seek opinions at the social media websites to see what actions I can take or go Small Claims to recover what is deemed fair for the wrong parts and service done…. fatigue in engine after repairs, lost of time and money…. Thank you for reading this far…any suggestions is greatly appreciated kim
