  2. BANGKOK (AP) - Thai police are pressing drunk driving charges against the Red Bull energy drink heir accused of killing a police officer while speeding in his Ferrari and fleeing the scene. Police say tests taken in the hours after Monday's crash showed 27-year-old Vorayuth Yoovidhaya's blood alcohol content was at 0.063, exceeding the legal limit of 0.05. Police said on Thursday that the findings could result in a stiffer penalty for Vorayuth, who was originally charged with causing death by reckless driving. Police say Vorayuth has admitted to driving the Ferrari that struck and killed the officer but says the officer swerved in front of his vehicle. 10. btw the parent company of Infiniti is Nissan so nissan owners can rejoice http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infiniti Infiniti (Japanese: インフィニティ, Infiniti?) is the luxury division of automaker Nissan. Infiniti officially started selling vehicles on November 8, 1989 in North America. Marketing operations have since grown to include the Middle East, South Korea, Russia, Taiwan, China, Ukraine and the United Kingdom. Infiniti began sales in additional European markets in late 2008. The marketing network for Infiniti-branded vehicles now includes over 230 dealers in over 15 countries.[1] Above: Sebastian Vettel poses next to the Infiniti 'FX Sebastian Vettel version' during the Frankfurt Motor Show on Sept 13. INFINITI calls its sponsorship of the Red Bull Racing (RBR) team "a long-term partnership that is more than stickers on a car". "As a premium and performance automotive brand, we studied various options to increase our brand awareness worldwide and strengthen our brand attributes," says Andreas Sigl, global director of Infiniti Formula One. Infiniti had picked F1 "to establish a global marketing platform" for its mid-term growth plan until 2016 because the glamorous motorsport offers the "geographic footprint in line with our strategic growth plan". As the carmaker was looking for a team with the same mindset and chemistry, Red Bull stood out because the Austrian team had entered F1 as the underdog. "We share this behaviour and continue to find great synergies between both brand partners," says Mr Sigl, who is in town for this weekend's Singapore Grand Prix. Infiniti is the luxury division of Nissan. The high-end marque will be launched in Singapore in January with Wearnes Automotive as its dealer. At the same time, Red Bull is powered by Renault engines, and the French carmaker has an alliance with Nissan. Infiniti's deal with Red Bull was announced in March and covers the 2011 and 2012 F1 seasons. Mr Sigl declines to say how much it costs but says the carmaker is "much more focused on value". "We compared this brand investment with other traditional marketing and advertising instruments and believe the RBR partnership will deliver a much higher return on investment and can be activated at many levels throughout the purchase cycle," he says. "We have only started this partnership six months ago and already see incredible value around all our markets worldwide." As for the technical aspect of the collaboration, Mr Sigl says Red Bull Racing is "quite excited about having Infiniti on board as automotive partner". "RBR does not have the same level of support as the traditional F1 teams like Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren etc, so Infiniti/Nissan can bring many areas of expertise to the team," he explains. On the other hand, Nissan is studying how it can support RBR in the area of Kers (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) and battery technology. "Infiniti/Nissan has very solid experience and expertise in this area from our hybrid technology and the Nissan Leaf EV," he said. "And of course, there are many more areas for sharing, such as advanced materials, rapid prototyping, and collaborative business processes, for example." But that is the future. For now, the sponsorship is a success for Infiniti as Red Bull and driver Sebastian Vettel lead in both the constructors' and drivers' championships. Mr Sigl says: "When we signed the deal with Seb, he made a very wise statement. He said that the best advertising for Infiniti is when he stands on the podium. So far, we are not complaining." 13. Yahoo News : Bull semen spill causes scare, closes U.S. highway NASHVILLE, Tenn (Reuters) - A spill of frozen bull semen bound for a breeder in the state of Texas triggered a scare on Tuesday that temporarily shut down a U.S. interstate highway during the morning rush hour. The incident began when the driver of a Greyhound bus carrying the freight alerted the fire department he had lost a part of his load while negotiating the ramp on a highway near Nashville. "We didn't know what it was, but we were told (the canisters) were non-toxic," said Maggie Lawrence, a fire department spokeswoman. When firefighters arrived on the ramp, they saw "four small propane-sized canisters (that) began to emit a light vapor," Lawrence said. In addition to the vapour, the canisters also let off an unpleasant odour and the ramp was closed while emergency personnel tried to determine what was in the containers. The bus driver turned around to retrieve the canisters. Once emergency personnel learned the smoking canisters were nothing hazardous and that they simply contained frozen bull semen that had been stored on dry ice, Tennessee Department of Transportation and fire department workers cleared the ramp. "It was no different to us than if a mattress fell off a truck," said transportation spokeswoman B.J. Doughty. Hmmmm........ next powerful tools .....
  14. Adrian Newey looks set to stay at Red Bull for the foreseeable future. The 51-year-old Briton joined the Austrian team from McLaren in 2006, and as chief technical officer is widely credited for the success of the dominant RB6. Germany's Sport Bild claims Newey, arguably the most sought-after figure in the entire world of formula one, intends to stay put. "Contractual matters are confidential, but it's true," team boss Christian Horner said of the report. "Last year, Adrian requested to remove a clause that would have ended his contract this year," he revealed. Former grand prix winner Gerhard Berger backs the move, insisting that Red Bull will remain on the pace "as long as Newey and Vettel are there". Source: GMM
  15. In one fell swoop, Dr Helmut Marko has dismissed the title threat posed by figures including reigning champion Jenson Button, the 2008 runner-up Felipe Massa, Mercedes' works team, and seven time world champion Michael Schumacher. Red Bull's motor racing adviser told APA news agency that the energy drink owned team only fears the challenges of Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton. "There are two people that we fear for this world title," said Marko. "They are Fernando Alonso, because he is at his absolute peak, and Lewis Hamilton. "What the others are doing bothers us not so much," revealed the Austrian. Red Bull's RB6 car has been clearly the fastest among F1's class of 2010, so Marko thinks the Milton Keynes based team is rightly the championship favourite. "With the package that we have, we clearly have to be going for the championship -- and in the coming years. "We have the people we need and the necessary tools to adapt to changes. We have had a winning car also in 2008 and 2009, so you can't say that it's a fluke when you're building a top car in three consecutive years," he added. Source: GMM
  16. Red Bull's three title rivals are conspiring against the team with a common goal -- to rein in the dominance of the RB6 car. According to Germany's Bild-Zeitung tabloid, the dramatic solution was devised after Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber scored every pole position in 2010 so far, and then pulled even further ahead with developments debuted in Barcelona last weekend. Bild said the "secret pact" between McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes involves the "exchange of data" about the technical superiority of the latest car designed by Adrian Newey. Ross Brawn is quoted as saying: "In some areas Red Bull have gone in different directions. Our people are looking at it closely." And Ferrari's Stefano Domenical is quoted by L'Equipe: "Red Bull has taken a big step forward in performance (in Spain). We saw it Friday and Saturday and with Mark's performance on Sunday. "This is a reference for us. We are not overstating it but we have to look more carefully at it and understand," he added. It was earlier wrongly believed that the RB6 was hiding some sort of variable ride-height system, but Bild reveals that one of the actual reasons for the car's competitiveness is the exhausts. We reported during the February tests that Red Bull had put stickers on the car to make it look like the exhausts were located conventionally, when in fact they were located much lower. Bild said the lower exhausts, hidden from view by six mechanics on the Barcelona grid, contribute to the car's superior aerodynamics. It is also reported that Red Bull could begin using a McLaren and Ferrari-like F-duct system at Istanbul in two weeks. Gerhard Berger told APA: "They are clearly the championship favourites. Even without the air-duct, Red Bull are the fastest." Source: GMM
  17. British banking giant Barclays is looking for a road into formula one. Sources told Marketing Magazine that the London based bank, which according to Forbes is the world's 25th largest company, is in talks with Red Bull Racing. Barclays denied the report. The bank is currently title sponsor of England's Premier League football competition, with its three-year deal estimated at close to EUR100 million. The Royal Bank of Scotland is pulling out of its Williams deal at the end of this season, and Holland's ING left Renault amid the crashgate scandal of 2009. But Spain's Santander is strongly involved with both Ferrari and the British team McLaren, having successfully expanded its European and UK operations. Source: GMM
  18. The Brackley based team used a motor home usually seen in the DTM paddocks in Spain, while the new structure was being put together for the first time in the Principality. The three-storey structure resembles a glass-fronted office building and can be seen on the team's official Twitter site. German reports say the motor home has been made at a cost of less than 2 million euros, compared with the EUR15m cost of Red Bull's Energy Station. While Mercedes and Red Bull's motor homes were already in Monaco, the first motor home to arrive from Spain on Monday morning was Renault's. Reportedly, the Enstone based team bought the motor home operated last year by the departed Toyota. McLaren's so-called Brand Centre takes longer to disassemble, and as of late on Monday it had not arrived in Monaco. Source: GMM
