  2. While @Toeknee_33 is having wet dream with the news of Mazda developing a new IL6 engine, I am drooling over this, but it will never happen, 'cos... 2013 Porsche 904 Living Legend When VW was developing the limited-edition and very frugal XL1, Porsche Design Studio was intrigued by its carbon fiber chassis and decided to use it as the basis for an ultra-light and minimalist sports car to act a modern reinterpretation of the 904 from the 1960s. Meet the 904 Living Legend concept from 2013, a member of Porsche’s Unseen collection of design studies that was released recently, out of the blue. While VW chose a carbon chassis for reasons related to unbelievable fuel economy, Porsche’s take was to create a purist’s wet dream; a small mid-engined coupe that barely weighs over 900 kg (1,984 lbs). The biggest surprise is in the engine bay where there’s no four-pot or flat-six, let alone a V8. Porsche’s engineers downsized the powertrain recipe to a V2 inherited from a motorcycle. When VW developed an XL Sport concept back in the day and it too had a V2, a 1.2-liter engine from the Ducati 1199 Superleggera. It produced 200 horsepower and revved all the way up to a screaming 12,000 rpm. To imagine the performances this Porsche 904 Living Legend would've had, we’ll remind you the 2014 XL Sport did 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.7 seconds and had a top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h). It’s worth pointing out the VW was a tad lighter, weighing only 890 kg (1,962 lbs). The end result is a mid-engined coupe that looks effortlessly beautiful, with its clean lines and seductive curves giving it supercar-levels of presence. This could be Porsche’s answer to the Alpine A110 but unfortunately, the world has moved on since 2013.
  3. Kia Forte owner brought his ride for Triple Carbon Clean today. What are the improvements? You will notice the difference especially if your car is more than 3 years old or has a mileage of more than 30000km. You will almost certainly notice that the throttle response of the car is noticeably better without hesitation, and the idle will be as smooth as it was when the car was brand new. 5. A Porsche Australia senior technical representative has revealed that its optional carbon ceramic brakes aren’t suited for hard use on the track contrary to what we thought so. We have been told many times by many manufacturers that carbon ceramic brakes can be useful for track work as they can run through multiple heat cycles without fading, thereby becoming the default choice for owners who enjoy track days. However, Which Car's interview with Porsche Australia at the launch of the 992-generation Porsche 911, brought to light that these expensive brake systems can degrade quite quickly when abused. “Yes, ceramic discs can degrade if you’re hard on the brakes. Heat build-up will degrade the carbon fibers in the disc, so if you’re doing club days we’d always recommend iron discs,” Paul Watson said. “We learned that lesson a long time back. When we first launched the discs, we told people they’d last virtually for the life of the car and people were doing a number of trackdays and coming back to us saying ‘I’ve worn them out’”, he added on. Interestingly, Watson claims that Porsche's target audience for the carbon ceramic brakes are those that don’t like cleaning their wheels because these brakes “don’t leave a build-up of brake dust.”

  9. A new Carbon Emissions-Based Vehicle Scheme (CEVS) will apply to all new cars, taxis and newly imported used cars with effect from Jan 1, 2013, the Land Transport Authority said on Wednesday. This followed announcements made by Minister for Transport Lui Tuck Yew in Parliament. Under CEVS, all new cars and imported used cars with low carbon emissions of less than or equal to 160g carbon emissions per kilometre (CO2/km) will qualify for significant rebates of between $5,000 and $20,000, which will be given as an offset against the vehicle's Additional Registration Fee (ARF) payable. Cars with high carbon emissions equal to or more than 211g CO2/km will incur a corresponding registration surcharge between $5,000 and $20,000. The CO2/km performance data for each car model will be provided on mandatory information labels at car showrooms. To encourage taxi companies to adopt lower emission models for their fleet, the CEVS rebate and registration surcharge for taxis is set at 50 per cent higher compared to cars, between $7,500 and $30,000. source: http://www.straitstimes.com/Parliament/Sto...ory_774890.html source: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1187568/1/.html

  12. Only one out of the 400 units of Ferrari Enzos is built with a bare carbon fibre body and that very unit is on sale now for a very large amount of money. According to Carscoops, this is the most special enzo ever produced. Its even more special than the 400th Enzo that was exclusively built for the Vatican which was donated for charity in the end. With the help of Carrozzeria Zanasi, a company that works very closly with Ferrari to help build custom cars for some of it customers, built this full carbon-bodied Enzo. It is now on sale at Exotic Motors for S$4.69 million if you have the cash!
  13. 1. I was one of the judges during the SiTF 2015 Awards and one of the participants was this interesting company call Neutrinos Engineering Pte. Ltd. 2. Their product that they pitched is one that clean the car engine (specifically the carbon deposit) using dry hydrogen. I was convinced and went for the cleaning as I'm interested to see how much carbon is deposited in my 8+ yrs old car and the results was a shock to me - glad I went for this service. Below is the result/report: 3. Forumers who are planning to renew their COE or is driving a 10+ years car may wish to consider this service as well. 4. List of workshops that provide this service: http://neutrinos.com.sg/where-to-get/ 5. 17. While browsing sgcarmart and checking out vehicles specifications, something caught my eye - carbon emissions. With the new CEVS kicking in from July, cars with 'high' emissions can be taxed additional $30k! But what is interesting is how the German vehicles have much lesser emissions than comparative Japanese cars. Examples below. Specifications from sgcarmart. Toyota corolla 1.6(A) - CO2 emission 151 g/km (As tested by LTA) / Kerb weight 1,265 kg Mercedes Benz E200 - CO2 emission 146 g/km (As tested by LTA) / Kerb weight 1,655 kg Numbers speak for themselves. Further e.g. Subaru WRX STi 2.5(M) - CO2 emission 242 g/km (As tested by LTA) / Kerb weight 1,516 kg (additional $30k CEVS tax from July) Mercedes Benz A45 AMG - CO2 emission 165 g/km (As tested by LTA) / Kerb weight 1,555 kg Seems like the German technology is far ahead of the Japanese.
  18. "The government is consulting stakeholders on measures that can be taken to further enhance Singapore’s plan to reduce carbon emissions and promote green growth beyond 2020. As a party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Singapore is actively involved in ongoing negotiations to work out a new global agreement on climate change by end 2015. One key strategy is energy efficiency, especially as Singapore has limited alternative energy sources." "Share Your Views We want to hear your views on any of the following areas for action. We also welcome your perspectives on the last document – pertaining to harnessing economic and green growth opportunities in clean energy, urban solutions, research and test bedding, among others:" - from https://www.nccs.gov.sg/consultation2015
