  1. Are cyclists getting out of hand these days? We'd say so as more and more videos of cyclists ignoring traffic rules and getting angry with other road users have been surfacing. It doesn't help as COVID has encouraged more people to workout, with cycling fast becoming one of the more popular choices/excuses to get out of the house. According to SG Road Vigilante, this incident between 2 cyclists and the camera car happened on 30th August 2020 at 17:15 along east coast road. As the road is a single lane road, SGRV claims that the camera car wanted to overtake and horned at the cyclists that he/she is proceeding with an overtaking maneuver. Unfortunately, the cyclist wasn't happy and started some 'ah-beng taunting' actions. Do you think the cyclists in the videos are self-entitled? Or do you reckon the driver should have just queued up and drove slowly behind them? Let us know!

  3. Just read today New Paper and it read : West Coast Park: No more free parking next year. Visitors to West Coast Park will soon be paying a price for the inconsideration of others, in the form of parking charges. From early next year, they will no lomger be able to park their car for free there. This is a result of some motorists abusing the free parking lots there. Citing difficulties in differentiating genuine park visitors from non-park users, the National Parks Board (NParks) has decided to act. At times, park there to enjoy a break at Macdonald's but it seem like have to place a coupon leow .....

Photo: Facebook screengrab PreviousNext By: ELIZABETH LAW One was an avid golfer who kept a number of birds as pets. The other had a passion for cars. For nearly three decades, Mr Tan Kok Keng, 67, and his son, Mr Mark Tan Peng Liat, 29, lived together in their West Coast Rise home, seemingly without incident. But on Tuesday afternoon, something went terribly wrong. Neighbours reported hearing a woman's screams, and the police was called at 5.25pm. They arrived at the semi-detatched house at 58 West Coast Rise and Mr Tan Kok Keng was taken to National University Hospital (NUH) unconscious. He was pronounced dead at about 6.48pm. A police spokesman said that a 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. The New Paper understands he is Mr Mark Tan. He will be charged in the State Courts today with murder. A neighbour who lives a few houses down, called the elder Mr Tan a "generous man" who gave all the maids on the street red packets every Chinese New Year. 13. Five people were taken to hospital after a taxi, which had been involved in a road accident moments before, crashed into an outdoor sitting area of a bar along East Coast Road on Thursday night. The police said a call was received at about 9pm, about an accident between a car and taxi. The ComfortDelgro taxi was then said to have ploughed through a cafe - which was closed at the time - before slamming through a low wall and landing in the crowded outdoor area of Georges Mad Bar & Grill where patrons were seated at tables. The Singapore Civil Defence Force said that the five people were taken conscious to Changi General Hospital. Police are investigating the incident. An eyewitness who only gave his name as Mr Deen, 24, told The Straits Times that he had been drinking with his friends at the bar's outdoor area when he heard two loud bangs. Before he knew it, the taxi crashed through the low wall and came to a stop after hitting a table beside his, which was occupied by about six people. He said: "One guy took most of the hit and he was dragged by the cab. But I don't think he was seriously injured because he could still walk with assistance after that." 16. Kudo to Clementi Police Division officers .... from yahoo news: Man, 22, arrested in connection with physical attack case outside West Coast condo [uPDATE on Friday, 21 March at 7:45pm: The man suspected to be Mei's attacker was arrested on Thursday night, after a more than 60-man police operation over three days. The 22-year-old will be charged in court on Saturday. In a statement, her family said they are gradually feeling relief and joy over the news. "The Clementi police division, and all the detectives and forensics staff involved are incredible. They are our heroes. We will leave it to the judicial system to deal justice to the culprit.] She was returning home on Monday at 9:30pm from dinner with her friends, and as usual, took the path from the bus stop to the rear entrance of her condominium. This was the same path she has taken multiple times a week in the four years her family has lived there. That day was different from others though — mere steps away from the gate, 25-year-old Mei (not her real name) was suddenly attacked by a passing cyclist. She said he knocked her to the ground, straddled her hips and punched her head and face repeatedly while trying to stifle her screams. Mei, a freelance graphic designer, believes she was the victim of a rape attempt. Because her attacker is still at large, her family has requested that her real name not be published to prevent him from tracking them down. Mei said she wants to share her experience with Yahoo Singapore to warn women that the threat of a physical attack is real, and can happen here in Singapore. In fact, it happened on a short path located right beside the brightly-lit Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE), that connects a bus stop and one of two back gates of her condominium. The man, she says, looked to be aged between his late 20s and early 30s. He was about 1.75m tall, dark-skinned and muscular, and had a sharp nose. He was clean shaven, had short, dark hair and was wearing a pale-coloured T-shirt and jeans or dark pants. He also did not smell of alcohol at all. "In other words, he looked fairly generic,” she said. “His clothes were clean, he was not at all ragged. I wasn’t scared of him (when we first passed each other),” She said she wasn't dressed provocatively either — in a long-sleeved black pullover with jeans. He was cycling towards her after she alighted from a taxi by the road, and they made eye contact briefly as he passed. Mei walked on until she noticed an extra shadow apart from her own, and as she was turning around to see who it was, she received a punch on the right side of her head. As she went down, he pounced on her, pinning her to the ground, plastering his hand over her nose and mouth as he repeatedly slammed her head into the ground with his other hand so she could not breathe. As she screamed and thrashed around, biting the man’s hands and fingers three times as he struggled to flip her facedown, the one thing she knew was that she must keep fighting him. “All I could do was just be really, really aggressive… to show him that he can’t win me, he can’t beat me. I’m going to keep fighting and I’m not going to let him have whatever he wants,” she said. She is still thankful that the man was unable to get to her clothes — two people who happened to live in the same condominium appeared on the path, and the sight of them drove the man away on foot, leaving his white bicycle parked in the middle of the path. more stories, link: http://sg.news.yahoo.com/-i-honestly-thought-i-was-going-to-die-005516242.html piew....... 17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h683pzcwpnA Since the extra demerit point system was implemented at school zones on Jan 1, Traffic Police reported 17 speeding offences in school zones; 11 drivers were caught beating the red light; 16 for careless driving and one for inconsiderate driving. On Thursday morning, the media observed how the Traffic Police conducted their enforcement in three school zones in the eastern part of Singapore. Two Traffic Police officers were stationed outside Temasek Secondary School on Upper East Coast Road to catch motorists speeding down the road, which has a speed limit of 50km/hr. Within 15 minutes of operations, Traffic Police caught a female van driver speeding down the road. The two officers chased after the driver in their motorbikes. She eventually stopped by the side of the road and her particulars were taken down. She declined to speak to the media. As part of stepped up enforcement against errant motorists in school zones, an extra demerit point applies to all motorists caught committing the offence of careless driving, inconsiderate driving, beating the red light, or speeding within school zones. 18. Visibility levels in the west coast took a dive over the weekend although the weather remained on the cooler side. The reason for the reduced visibility levels is not conclusive as air quality in the country is recorded at either “good” or “moderate” on the Air Pollutant Index. Some Malaysians speculated it might be haze as they felt ill, listing symptoms such as fever, sore throat and sinus problems. Homemaker Sara Sukor, 33, said she had observed her baby son’s eczema flare up after the “haze” appeared on Friday afternoon. She said she could barely make out the skyline of the Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower from her 19th floor apartment in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. “Even though there is no smoky smell, I feel the haze is getting worse by the day,” she said. IT support executive, Martin Arulappa, 26, said he had not noticed lower visibility levels in Klang but he and his sister had been suffering from flu and fever since Friday. “It could be the indecisive climate,” he said. The Meteorological Department (MET) said Petaling Jaya and Kuala Pilah in Negri Sembilan had visibility readings of up to 4km as of 5pm yesterday. Visibility was up to 6km in Subang and Ipoh, 7km in Butterworth, 8km in Sepang and Malacca and 9km in Batu Pahat, Johor. Normal visibility levels are from a range of 10km and further. However, air quality remained at good and moderate levels, with Ipoh recording the poorest reading of 82 as of 5pm yesterday. According to the Department of Environment’s Air Pollutant Index (API), unhealthy, very unhealthy and hazardous air quality readings are from 100 to 200, 200 to 300, and more than 300 respectively. The reduced visibility could be due to the 500 hotspots detected by the NOAA-18 Satellite on the Meteorological Service Singapore’s website, for the areas of Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Laos. The hotspot map for that region showed most of the hotspots were concentrated in Cambodia and spread out into Thailand and Laos.
