  2. One of the most interesting things we did for our recent Hong Kong trip was to join the queue at Jenny Bakery (Tsim Sha Tsui) branch, for the famous cookies. We stayed at a nearby hotel (Hotel Panorama), so the bakery was about a 5 minute walk away. After checking in at our hotel, we went out for a walk. Made our way to the bakery and we were confronted with this line. Seeing is believing. And the weather was really hot! They were standing in the sun. Went inside to check out the store. This place accepts cash only. Be prepared to know exactly what to order. The staff will rush you, understandably so because there is a non-stop line! We returned to the place later in the evening and managed to buy some cookies. Here is our experience. Were the cookies good? Yes, very. Kids loved it. Adults loved it. We bought a few small tins back to give friends and they really loved it. Would we buy again? Yes, but we will go close to closing time, when the line is much shorter and at least you don't have to wait in the sun. It was really hot earlier in the day, and you could see the people in the queue were rather uncomfortable!
  3. Powered by a 6.3-litre V8 engine, we know that the SLS AMG GT3 is one hot machine with over 580 ponies. For the festive season, the folks at AMG decide to turn the SLS AMG into a baking oven in a short video clip. In the lighthearted clip, the engineers told the driver that it is all about the temperature and repeatedly reminded him to keep the temperature at 180 degrees. The driver was informed to stay away from the curb, probably to avoid spillage of the cookies. The SLS AMG GT3 has been designed to comply with the GT3 specifications of the FIA and it
  4. So chio bu saliva is the secret to delicious pastries! STOMPer eeleen was disgusted by this cake shop employee who was seen swiping off excess cream filling from cookies she was preparing and then licking them off her fingers. Said the STOMPer: "I was with my nephew decorating a cake at The Icing Room at Jurong Point yesterday (Nov 27) when I saw this really disgusting employee filling cookies with cream. "She was swiping off excess cream from each cookie with her bare fingers and then licking them off, before handling more cookies and filling! "She did this for the entire tray of cookies which were to be for sale later! "I also noticed that the other employees of this bakery were handling ingredients like fruit with their bare hands instead of using gloves. "This is very unhygienic and I don't think I will ever go back to that bakery again for cookies and cakes they prepare." Video here
  5. Since there are a few topics on food, maybe I start one on biscuits and cookies. I always remember when younger, tea or coffee break to me was the 'so da piah' cracker biscuits with Milo or ovaltine. There were the sugar coated and the plain ones. Then there was the red foil chocolate wafer. I have almost stopped eating biscuits due to after effect of the biscuit in army ration Used to eat biscuit for supper when schooling, but now it's like chicken cutlet, prata, horfun, kambing soup etc. My parents still eat biscuits. Kids love the biscuits with milo.
