  2. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/asia/thai-king-eldest-daughter-princess-bajrakitiyabha-mahidol-heart-lungs-kidney-support-3154316 BANGKOK: The Thai king's eldest daughter remained in hospital on Monday (Dec 19) receiving support for her heart, lungs and kidney, according to a palace statement after she collapsed last week. Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol initially fell ill Wednesday evening during a military dog training session at Nakhon Ratchasima, north of the capital Bangkok. Known in Thailand as "Princess Bha", the 44-year-old is the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn and the only child from his first marriage. The kingdom's succession rules favour male heirs; however, the palace has not formally announced an heir apparent. Following the princess' collapse, she was flown to Bangkok where she continues to receive intensive medical care under close observation. In a statement issued Monday morning, the palace said her condition was "stable at one level" without elaborating. "Her royal highness' heartbeat is controlled by medicine," the statement said, adding that the systole - part of the process by which the heart beats - "does not go well". "The medical team has offered her royal highness medicine and equipment to support the work of her royal highness's heart, lung and kidney," the statement added. The princess holds an important ceremonial role in Thai society - where the royal family sits at the apex, protected from criticism by harsh defamation laws which carry prison sentences of up to 15 years per charge. Around the capital and across the kingdom, books of well-wishing for her recovery were laid out for Thais. On Saturday the palace announced that King Vajiralongkorn and his wife Queen Suthida had tested positive for COVID-19, with both reporting mild symptoms.
  3. A 93-year-old Chinese woman in Singapore is hoping to fulfil one wish — that she will reunite with the daughter she gave up to a Malay family 66 years ago. The woman, who goes by Mrs Tan, had given up her daughter after much pressure from her mother and mother-in-law as they believed her newborn baby, who was born with two natal teeth, would supposedly bring bad luck. Tan has since regretted caving in to her elders' wishes, and though she is now surrounded by her large family of nine other children, 24 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, she hopes to be able to see her lost daughter again. Daughter born with natal teeth, was a "bad omen" Tan, through her 38-year-old granddaughter Jasmine, described to Mothership the circumstances that led her to that fateful decision to give up her child. Tan was just 17 years old when she got married. Tan and her husband lived at 99 Jalan Chekor, where they also worked as farmers on their plot of land, growing vegetables and raising pigs. The Jalan Chekor kampung and its roads have since been expunged. Kaki Bukit now sits where the kampung used to be. In 1956, Tan gave birth to her seventh child, but under quite difficult circumstances. Tan was alone at the hospital while her husband struggled with a very bad illness at home. However, upon the baby's birth, she noticed that her daughter was born with two natal teeth on her bottom jaw, which was considered bad luck according to Chinese folklore. When Tan saw the teeth on her newborn, she immediately plucked them out and swallowed them, so no one would think her daughter was ill-omened. According to some Chinese traditions, babies born with teeth are curses to the family. Told not to contact or see her child ever again Tan was discharged from the hospital the next day, but grew worried about the big secret she was hiding. She finally confessed to her mother and mother-in-law about the teeth and what she had done to hide them. They insisted that her baby had to be given away. Tan recounted that her mother-in-law in particular was very authoritative and warned Tan not to contact or see her child again. Tan and her husband had no say in this decision. Her mother-in-law engaged a middleman to assist with the adoption, so Tan never got the chance to even meet the adoptive parents. Tan is scarce on details about where her daughter is now, but knows that her daughter was given up to a childless Malay family who lived nearby. She also remembered that the adoptive father worked at the airport, and cycled to work everyday. The mother was a homemaker. Years later, Tan learnt that the adoptive family had adopted another girl. Through the middleman, the couple also made Tan promise never to reunite with her daughter. Woman regrets telling the truth The only time Tan saw her daughter again was during a chance encounter when the girl was 10 years old. A girl walked past Tan's home at Jalan Chekor, and the middleman who lived nearby pointed out to Tan that she was her daughter. Tan only stole a glance at her, under instructions from her mother-in-law not to interact with the girl. But Tan noticed that her daughter was dressed in a white blouse and blue skirt, the school uniform of an English school. The middleman had also given Tan a photograph of her daughter, but a flood that washed away most of Tan's belongings meant that she no longer had the photo to hold onto. To this day, Tan regrets ever telling the truth to her mother-in-law. She said she could have kept the child if she was quiet about it being born with teeth. Grandchildren hope to fulfil woman's wish Unfortunately, Tan does not have a copy of her daughter's birth certificate, which might have lent her more details on how to locate her daughter all these years later. There were also no adoption papers, as the adoption process was carried out informally and without proper documentation. Still, at her advanced age, Tan hopes to be able to reunite with her now 66-year-old daughter again, and expressed this desire to her grandchildren. Jasmine told Mothership that this was her grandmother's only wish in her old age. "All children are precious to their mothers," said Tan when asked about this wish of hers. https://mothership.sg/2022/09/woman-looking-for-adopted-daughter/?utm_source=tele&utm_medium=referral

  6. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-2865342/Korean-Air-executive-kicks-flight-attendant-plane-moments-New-York-failing-serve-nuts-properly.html An executive for Korean Air is facing investigation after she reportedly delayed a flight because a member of the cabin crew didn't serve her nuts properly. The flight was was about to take off from New York's JFK Airport when Korean Air's vice-chairman Cho Yang-ho had a flight attendant removed from plane for failing to offer her a packet of macadamia nuts. South Korean news service Yonhap reports that, when prompted, the attendant gave the daughter of the airline's chief executive Cho Yang-ho macadamia nuts in a bag, and not on a plate as formal business class procedure dictates. For that oversight, Cho, who also goes by her English name Heather, reportedly yelled at the cabin crew member and ordered her off the plane as it was readying to depart JFK Airport for Incheon, near Seoul. The South Korean Government is looking into the executive's on-the-spot disciplinary action against the attendant, who hasn't been named. The plane was already in the process of being taxied to the runway but had to return to the passenger terminal, with the whole saga delaying the New York-bound plane's take-off by 11 minutes, it was confirmed by the airline. However, Korean Air also confirmed that the decision to expel the crew chief had been made in consultation with the pilot. A Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport official, who spoke to Yonhap on the condition of anonymity, said there will be a government investigation into the incident. Law dictates that the cabin crew is under the orders of the captain while on a flight. 'The official explained: ''Even if she is the vice president of the airline, she was one of passengers and should have been treated as one. 'The lesson for the flight attendant could have been given after returning to South Korea.'
  7. Wanted to start a thread for Singaporeans who pass away from accidental deaths (car accidents) or otherwise. I think previously they are all scattered in different threads and sometimes in a bit irrelevant type of grouping. Mods can decide whether this is relevant. Thanks. She refused to take photos with them at her graduation ceremony and did not even inform them about her marriage plans. Dejected and disappointed, the parents are now seeking the return of the $40,000 university tuition fees from their daughter. Mr Wang Yongshen, (56 year old, retiree), claims that he and his wife are hurt by their daughter whom they said had become a totally changed person after her graduation. They had put in a lot of effort to see their daughter through university only to end up getting cold treatment from her. Mr Wang said his daughter graduated from NTU
  10. Black Ops, Euro Style Wednesday, June 18, 2014 - 17:50AFP MULHOUSE, France - A 76-year-old Frenchman was convicted Wednesday of having kidnapped a German ex-doctor who had killed his daughter, but he avoided jail time as the court handed down a suspended sentence. The court in the eastern French border town of Mulhouse gave Andre Bamberski a suspended one-year sentence for having abducted Dieter Krombach in Germany and brought him to France to face trial. Krombach was found bound and gagged in 2009 near the courthouse in Mulhouse after Bamberski hired a kidnap team who snatched the ex-doctor from his home in the southern German town of Scheidegg. Bamberski said he was "a bit disappointed" by the ruling, believing he should have been acquitted because he had a "moral compulsion" to act. He said he did not plan to appeal. Krombach was convicted in 2011 over the death of Bamberski's 14-year-old daughter Kalinka - who was living at the German's home with her mother and younger brother - in 1982. Germany cleared Krombach of her death and refused to extradite him. But Bamberski was convinced of his guilt, especially after Krombach was convicted of drugging and raping a 16-year-old patient in 1997. France's top court in April confirmed Krombach's conviction for "deliberate violence leading to involuntary death" and his 15-year prison sentence. The two men who carried out the kidnapping - Anton Krasniqi of Kosovo and Georgian Kacha Bablovani - were also found guilty and each sentenced to a year in prison. Krombach, 79, did not travel from prison in Paris to attend the trial for health reasons.

A video of the abuse has been circulating online, sparking outrage among netizens. While many criticised both the father and the person who filmed the incident, they also praised bystanders who tried to intervene. One man dressed in a white shirt could be seen confronting the father and helping the girl up. "My heart breaks for the child. The physical signs will fade but the psychological trauma will stay with that kid forever," commented one netizen. All child beaters should have their freaking fists shoved up their arse!!!

  15. STOMPer Sherley's husband treats her well and never lets her suffer. He worked hard and spent all his money on Sherley and her daughter, even though the child was not his. Sherley shares her story with us: "I got to know my current husband through a website called Tagged. After getting to know him through Tagged, we added each other on Facebook. "When I first got to know him, we chatted on MSN and Facebook. He followed up by asking for my number, so I gave it to him . "We address each other as 'Brother' and 'Sister'. This way of addressing each other never changed till the day we got together . "We met up together with other friends as somehow our friends are linked. I still remember that time I was attached, and I called him while I was crying. "I told him that I was very upset as my boyfriend had made accusations at me. Without a second thought, he came down to my place to find me even though it was midnight. "He tried really hard to make me smile, and he tried his very best to crack jokes. He was even very protective towards me when my boyfriend suddenly came down to talk to me. "He even warned my boyfriend not to shout or lay his hands on me. Soon after that day, my boyfriend and I broke up. My husband-to-be was there for me all this while, cheering me up and even accompanying me for my interview. "On the Jan 21 2011, we got together! The place where he first held my hand was at Martin's Pub at Boat Quay. "He knows that I've got a daughter but he has never mistreated her since the day we got together. He loves my daughter like his own. He worked very very hard every single day and spent all his money on my daughter and I. "He gave up his brothers and his friends just for my sake. He stopped drinking and cut down his smoking for the sake of our little family. "He has a very horrible past in which everyone would call him a playboy. There was once I wanted to leave him because I thought that I couldn't accept his past. "He cried very hard and he even punched the wall. He even put aside his pride and asked me to stay. My heart hurt to see him like this so I decided to stay and persuaded myself to accept his past. "Soon, it's going to be our first year anniversary and we have a baby daughter now. Everything was supposed to be great and fine, but what makes my heart hurt the most is that he's going to court on his birthday which is on Jan 17 this year. "There is nothing I can do and I can only give him my support. He is the first guy in my life that treats me so well and never lets me suffer. He would rather be the one who does all the housework and the one who bathes our daughters and feeds them. "He does so many things for me without a single complaint. "I'm writing in not because of the prizes, but I just want to tell others how blissful and happy I am. I'm appreciative and glad that he is mine. "Lastly, Hubby, thanks for every single little thing that you have done for me and all the love and concern you have for our little family! "Happy First Year Anniversary in advance, and Happy Birthday in advance! "I LOVE YOU!" Link Sabbie is that U? [inlove]

  17. http://health.asiaone.com/Health/Health%2B...205-314401.html A man from Shaanxi, China, doused his daughter with kerosene before setting her on fire after an argument with his estranged wife. Chinese website ChinaSmack reported that the three-year-old girl suffers from burns on 14 per cent of her body. Third-degree burns make up 2.5 per cent of the damage while the remaining burns are second-degree ones. The girl, referred to as Niu Niu, is disfigured and her hands cannot function normally. On November 19, her father, Cao Xiaoming allegedly flew into a rage after he had a disagreement with his wife, Ms Xiao Juan over divorcing him. Ms Xiao said she wanted to leave him because of his bad temper, violent ways and excessive gambling. She said Cao would beat her if they had disagreements, sometimes using stools and sticks. Ms Xiao told ChinaSmack: "Whenever he runs out of money, he'll call me, and if I don't give it to him, I'll be beaten. Cao also stole and gambled away "good luck money" which Ms Xiao's family had given her when Niu Niu turned 100 days old. She added that she would give him all of her salary but he would not care for Niu Niu and her, sometimes leaving them without any food to eat. KNNBCCB!!!!!!

  19. A most horrific way to die - to be eaten alive by a predator. This reminded me of the tragic death of Timothy Treadwell and his girlfriend who were both attacked and eaten alive by Grizzlies some time ago. Imagine the mother's anguish and despair to listen to her daughter's gruesome death... Geesh, what a way to die... http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/8286927/m...bs-eat-daughter Mother hears bear, cubs eat daughter 06:00 AEST Thu Aug 18 2011 A teenager who was eaten alive by a brown bear and her cubs in Russia called her mother and gave a horrific running commentary of the attack, telling her "the bear is eating me!" Olga Moskalyova, 19, made three calls to her mother during the attack, which lasted more than an hour and also claimed the life of her stepfather, Igor Tsyganenkov, the Daily Mail reports. The trained psychologist, who had been camping in a forest in the extreme east of Siberia, phoned for help after she saw the mother bear attack her stepfather, breaking his neck and crushing his skull. Tatiana Tsyganenkov initially thought her daughter was joking when she screamed: "Mum, the bear is eating me! Mum, it's such agony!" "Then I heard the real horror and pain in Olga's voice, and the sounds of the bear growling and chewing," Mrs Tsyganenkov said. But Mrs Tsyganenkov could only listen helplessly as her daughter described the attack, telling her the mother the bear had brought its three cubs to feed on her. The teenager made her final call about an hour after the first, telling her mother she loved her and no longer felt any pain before the phone cut out. Police arrived at the scene with Mr Tsyganenkov's brother half-an-hour later to find the mother bear still devouring her dead victims, who were buried this week, and hunters were sent to destroy the animals.
