  1. any1 driving Epica 2.0A here? any review. those i found are quite old might not be valid any more. about 86k (COE Cat B dropped 3.4k, so should go lower now), with 6AT and inline 6 engine. come with new facelift with DVD and not sure what else. any comments?
  2. Hi, I read in the Life Section of Straits Times today that it comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox? . Is that a typo error?
  3. Hi, currently my side mirror LED indicator is not working anymore, went to accessories shop and was told that the LED Bulb can't change, have to change the whole side mirror. As my model is quite rare locally, so i need to check with you guys is what i was told true? Please advise.Thanks.
  4. Currently driving a 2010 Epica but is it a good time to sell now or sell on the 4th or 5th year? What do you guys suggest?i took 7yrs loan, OMV 15K+ & COE $42k.
  5. Hi, I did a drain and fill thrice (at 60k, 70k and 76k) even though manual says its good for 100k miles (lifetime). Reason is slight sluggishness during gear shifts at 60k and during change fluid is milky dark brown. Even during the 3rd change at 76k, saw that the fluid is still milky darkbrown (though the sluggishness disappeared since the 1st change) Mechanic suggest a transmission flush through the fluid cooler lines (he has done it for the older 4 speed model but not this 6 speed). I was a bit surprised coz when I did my first change, was told that this transmission cannot be flush. This mechanic says the Cruze cannot be flushed (same transmission) but he *thinks* the Epica can as the cooler lines are different. What's the risk if I go ahead and attempt to flush as the milky look does not seems to be getting better ? Will I end up with a bigger problem (the net has conflicting advice to flush or not to flush) Or should I just be patient and continue to drain and fill at every 10k ? Am I throwing away my money ? (The whole transmission including the cooler uses about 10L and each drain and fill can only change 5L which part of the old oil will always be there though getting diluted by the new oil.)
  6. Changed out my so-called sealed life-time transmission ATF fluid (Dextron VI) for the 2nd time. 1st time was at 55k km. This time 85k km. It was murky brownish red. Unfortunately its not a complete drain. Only 5L against a total of 7L. So still has a lot of old oil inside. Looks like need to do another change just to dilute the old oil further. Why would manufacturer suggest life-time use and design it to be service-unfriendly I don't understand.
  7. Dear Chevy owners, Chevrolet will be having a launch on Fri 13th 2007 630pm at Starsauto Ubi showroom. This is the 1st 2.0 litre car with inline 6 engine and a 5 speed gearbox. Below is the link for a brief intro. http://www.topspeed.com/cars/chevrolet/che...ica-ar2907.html If you are interested to find out more about this vehicle, feel free to PM me.... Cheers... Ryan
  8. Epica Diesel "Both the Chevrolet Epica and Chevrolet Captiva SUV models are now offered with a diesel power plant. Both models now get the 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine which is good for 148HP and 320Nm of torque. More importantly, this new engine is supposed to improve performance figures on both models. Compared to the Epica with a 144HP 2.0 liter petrol, sprint figure is improved by 0.9 seconds to 10.6 seconds and top speed is rated at 205 km/h with the diesel engine, instead of 195 km/h with the 2.0 petrol. In the Captiva, the 2.0 diesel is able to propel the SUV to the 100 km/h mark in 12.2 seconds compared to 12.5 seconds with the 136HP 2.4 liter petrol, and top speed is figured at 180 km/h instead of 178 km/h. Both the Epica and Captiva models with diesel comes with a 6 speed automatic and a 5 speed automatic transmission respectively. On top of the reduction in diesel taxes in Singapore, Chevrolet is absorbing half of the diesel tax for the first three years for the diesel powered Captiva to encourage more buyers to take home diesel powered vehicles. However, no news yet regarding the similar promotion for the Epica. The Captiva SUV with diesel carries a price tag of S$ 89,200 inclusive of COE. Pricing for the diesel powered Epica is yet to be released. " Especially when paired up with this (promises of up to another 20% lower FC) and Nice comfy sedan, huge boot, good FC + good power + fantastic torque, 6spd auto!!! I wonder how much it is going to cost the end user.
  9. Hi all, Just thought of asking brothers here to give some comments/pointers. I'm planning to change my existing ride. A few cars are in my shortlist: 1. Toyota Camry 2.4A 2. Nissan Cefiro 2.3A 3. Mit Lancer EX 2.0M GT 4. Chevy Epica 2.5A 5. Honda Civic 2.0M SI (maybe the Type R) 6. Honda Accord Euro-R A I could consider other cars in the 80 - 110K range. Few things I'm looking for: 1. Comfort - I travel alot to Malaysia (Ipoh/Penang). I would like the car to be roomy with excellent rear passenger legspace. As I'm pretty big size, I would like the driver seat to be comfortable. High speed cruising should be quiet and comfortable. So far, the Camry seems to have the edge on this one with the Cefiro coming close. The Cefiro has a very very comfortable front passenger seat - good for me to snooze when my co-pilot takes over *grinz*. 2. Performance - I do engage in spirited driving in Sg and Malaysia. Even in my current ride, my average speed on NSH is 180kmh.Hence the ride must have good pickup and top speed. I enjoy manual rides more as it gives me much more cornering control and pickup. The Hondas (especially the SI) seem to have the edge on this one. The Lancer EX manual also packs a pretty good punch. The Camry and Cefiro feels sedate though. 3. Engine - I'm not too sure on this one. Cefiro has the V6. Epica has the 6 in-line. The rest have 4 in-line. How different are they from each other? What are the advantages of V6 and 6 in-line? 4. Fuel Efficiency - I know the Cefiro is a guzzler. The Camry and Civic seems to have better efficiency. 5. Budget - As mentioned earlier, I hope to keep my expense down to 80 - 110K range. Road tax and insurance are also amongst my considerations. The car should also be reliable so that I don't have to make trips to the workshop. 6. Mods - Seems very ironic to talk about this since I'm looking at primarily Ah-Pek cars. However I do poison my ride. I know the Hondas have good chance for mods. In conclusion, I've test driven all the above cars except Euro-R. For each car, something seems to be missing. Hope that fellow brothers comments could help me make up my mind. Cheers.
