  2. just got new tyre From ST. ZE914 195/50/R15 @ $90/pc
  3. tyre due for a change and haave narrowed to 3 choices: Falken Azenis FK-453 Neuton NT8000 Nexen N8000 all three are quite similar priced with my choice to be Neuton, but alas....asked few shops and all said same thing. Only 2011 stock available. i have never been a fan of falken but this MIJ flagship model seems not bad. Any feed backs and comments are welcomed. btw, now on Nokian and ,,,,,,,,nevermind
  4. FINALLY...I can start a new topic. Can check with all the expert here...is my tyre condition worn out? Actually I don't like the comfort level of this tyre. It's a Falken 912. Profile is 215/55/18. Was told there is no more such tyre profile in the market. But when check with agent, agent told me Kumho still have such profile. Anyway, not going back to Falken. Nor I am interesting in Kumho. Both are budget tyre but doesn't give me the comfort level I desire. Another opinion is what other alternative profile tyre can I change to? TIA.
  5. http://www.cbt.com.my/2012/02/08/falken-la...formance-tyres/ Stamford Tyres, distributor of Falken branded tyres in Malaysia is adding three more new additions to its tire range - the Azenis PT722 premium touring tyre for luxury cars, the Azenis 453 for sports (and sporty) cars, and Azenis 453CC for luxury SUVs.
  6. I do not know if any of our members who are using the Falken Zirex ZE-912 tyres have encountered this experience. This tyre has been designed to provide good aquaplaning according to the write-up. Just end of last month, I replaced my Goodyear Eagle LS2000 which I used for 15km to Falken Zirex ZE-912 tyres. I chose the latter after reading the specs on how good is the tyre design and aquaplaning. This morning while driving my daughter to work in a hotel along ECP at around 5.30am, it was raining extremely heavily and the road was full of water puddles. Although the road holding is good, but the aquaplaning is below my expectation. When going through puddles of water at 80km/hr, the "pull back" feeling could be felt although my previous Goodyear Eagle LS2000 tyres which had been used for 15000km, could still cut through puddles of water even at 90 km/hr without having any 'pull back. I held on to the the steering wheel firmly in position to prevent the tyres from 'running off' when going over puddles of water. I have sent an email to the President of Stamford Tires this morning providing him on my feedback that I encountered of this supposedly good aquaplaning tyres and awaiting his reply. Meanwhile, I might be changing to another set of tyres that will provide me with good road holding on dry and wet and especially very good aquaplaning.
  7. dear bros Changed my tyres to Falken 225/50/R17 recently to try as the price is half that of continental. previously was using michelin. Anyone can tell what is the difference to justify double the price? Anyone changed before and at what price? Thanks
  8. Hi, I like to ask your advise on Falken ZE522 tyre. Is it good on wet weather & quiet & comfortable? I was quote $110 for this tyre for the 205/50/R16. Is the price ok ?
  9. With the drifting season (for Singapore) still about three months away, our local drifters Jansen Tan, Adam Toh and Felix Wee of Team Falken Stamford are keeping themselves active with other forms of motorsports, in particular go-karting. Taking part in a two-hour kart endurance race organised by leading local automotive company HKS Garage R at Kartright Speedway, the trio coolly and calmly wrapped up the race ahead of nine other teams. In addition, Jansen clinched the prize for the Fastest Time of the Day with his best lap time of 46.566 seconds! The evening started with practice, qualifying and then the two-hour endurance race. Each team was to complete six stints of 20 minutes, so for most teams which only had three drivers, each driver had to go out twice. Team Falken Stamford was assigned kart No. 3 and was running in third initially, behind Team No. 5 (consisting of Garage R's MD Lawrence Lee, avid cyclist Yusoff and Super Taikyu racer Andy Han) and Team No. 2 (Chew Hock Ngee, Cheng You Zhi and Jeffrey Sim) who were using this as an opportunity to train for the OCBC Corporate Karting Challenge. Team No. 2 was leading the race when a one-minute penalty was dealt to them for speeding in the pit lane and an incident with the tyre wall slowed them down some too, giving Team No. 5 the chance to take the lead. Team No. 3 was steadily in third place but caught up to second and then took the lead when Jansen went out. Fastest driver of Team No. 5 was Lawrence, whose best time was 47.2 seconds, and he chose to take the last stint so he could chase race leader Jansen. Things were getting more exciting as the race end drew near. Lawrence only had one thing on his mind - to catch Jansen. He was closing in on Jansen when misfortune struck. The right front wheel axle of the kart broke! Crawling back into the pit lane, Lawrence switched to another kart but precious time was lost and Team No. 5 was dropped out of the title chase. Team No. 2 was fervently hunting down Team No. 3 but Jansen was simply too fast and brought home the kart first. Who says drifters are only fast sideways? ;) The top three winning teams earned a cute trophy for themselves as well as vouchers from Garage R. Althought it was only a two-hour endurance race, it was enough to see how crucial strategy and also luck is in racing. Team No. 2 were the fastest for sure, but incidents and penalties brought them down. Team No. 5 had a good chance too, but a kart mishap killed their chance. Hence it was Team No. 3 who never gave up and continued chasing. The question on everyone's mind was - When's the next race? For more photos, view them on my Facebook album here.
  10. Hi, My ride is on 215/50/17 Falken 912. Its 1.5 years now and I find it noisy and its bothering me. I read the Bridgestone GR90 is great for quietness but the best price I can get is around $270 per pc (using 225/50/17 which is a close match to my original 205/60/16). Its a bit steep for me Anyone who has change frpm Falken 912 to something else cheaper than the GR90 and quieter than the 912 ? Kindly please recommend make and approx price. Thank you

As I was in a hurry I didn't bother to negotiate the price and just paid what was quoted after the AAS discount, but I was wondering if I got ripped off at $275 per tyre? Thanks....

  24. Need some reviews from bros here who have used/are using Falken's Ziex-326 tyres. I just changed my front tyres to the 326s as my previous pair was already showing bits of carcass on the insides(wheel-well side). Please comment on the tyre performance after initial scrubbing in, so that I have an idea on what to expect. My initial impressions on the tyre upon installation were that in comparison to my previous Simex (Malaysian made, very hard rubber compound, almost NIL wet-grip), the wet-grip of the 326s doesn't seem at all impressive. Still managed to easily do wheelspins on a slightly wet surface. Of course, this is before the tyres have been properly scrubbed in. On the highway in light rain at 100km/h, aquaplaning was almost non-existent even in bigger pools of water. Just a hint of planing when hitting those big pools that span almost 50 metres long. In the dry, grip seemed to be worse than the Simex tyres. Surprisingly, really, given the softer compound of the 326s. But I must note that the sidewall is not as stiff, and AGAIN, the tyres have yet to be bedded in. I must clarify, however, that I am in no way looking at the Falkens as a set of performance tyres. Far from it. All I want is a set of tyres that are relatively lasting, with reasonable wet-weather performance. Of course, with predictable handling characteristics so that I don't get caught off-guard. Road noise is of no issue to me. So, your valuable feedback will help me decide whether to keep these tyres & purchase a matching set for the rears, or to junk them & go for another set instead. Before anyone starts suggesting Firenza, Yoko Aspect DB etc, please note that my tyre size is not of a common one. It's 165/55/R14. Not many stores carry this size, not to mention even less major manufacturers produce this size. Thanks a million in advance!
