  2. Hi guys... For those using starhub broadband (cable/fiber) , in case you wondering why your connection to international sites is crawling, you are not alone. Look at this, all the complains and kpkb all there: https://www.facebook.com/StarHub?filter=2 Myself have been experiencing slow and intermittent access over the last 1 week. Have to use mobile broadband 3G instead of fiber for some important net access. Simply ridiculous. Anyone knows the starhub CEO email? If you have it, please PM me.
  3. i know there was a brief discussion here before but couldn't find the thread. I am already with SNBB but quite fedup with the problem that i have with the ADSL and analog lan phone which i think was due to the old estate. Hence i don't mind taking up the new exstream package. however i would like to know how messy is the cable would be like? current i am using 4 homeplugs, 1 for mio tv and in 2 rooms which is quite neat. but i heard the router singtel fiber use is not compatible with the homeplug, and the N wifi router is good enough for all my need (about 6-7 devices connect to internet + mio tv). Any kind soul who has sign up for this service can advice me that what they claim is true? Thanks!

  10. German car magazine Auto Bild is reporting in its latest issue that Mercedes-Benz is working on a superlight E-Class. The lightweight edition of the E-Class will be made of carbon fiber (with more rigidity than steel) and weigh in at around 1,300 kg (2860 lbs) - which will be 350 kg (770 lbs) less than the standard model. The superlight E-Class will also see a new design, influenced by the CLS, with engineers free to go with features such as gullwing doors or no B-pillar given the rigidity of the carbon structure. The model also seems intended to lower Mercedes-Benz's fleet fuel-economy and CO2 quotients because the automaker is considering both hydrogen fuel-cell and petrol-hybrid drivetrains for the lightweight E-Class. The superlight E-Class is due in 2015. Source: Auto Bild (German)

  14. by Eric Loveday (RSS feed) It seem like just a few days ago BMW came forth stating that its use of carbon fiber on upcoming vehicles would become a high-volume deal. Now Green Car Advisor reports that Daimler, never willing to be a step behind, has also announced plans to increase its investment in the material. Daimler has enlisted the help of Toray Industries, a Japanese textile company, to help make carbon fiber body parts for Mercedes-Benz vehicles beginning in 2012. The parts will reduce vehicle weight and help the company meet upcoming CAFE regulations. The first Mercedes product to be adorned with carbon fiber will be the SL-Class. Daimler choose Toray Industries due to its expertise in carbon fiber. Though not a common name to many, Toray is actually the dominant force in the industry, controlling 34 percent of the global market. This will be Toray's first venture into making car parts out of carbon fiber. The company's current automotive-related experiences with the material has been limited to supplying carbon fiber yarns to Ferrari and various aftermarket companies. Daimler and Toray will work together on development of the carbon fiber reinforced plastic body parts and production will be carried out at a Toray facility in France.
  15. Carbon fiber has long been heralded as a wonder material for the automotive industry due to its inherent strength and light weight. Despite this favorable strength-to-weight ratio and the fact that it's now been around for decades in one form or another, the composite has yet to see widespread use in our cars and trucks. There are a number of reasons for this, including the well-known duo of cost and manufacturing difficulties. With the backing of BMW, though, it seems that the time may finally have come for carbon fiber to come to the fore of automotive technologies. Now, another German company, automotive supplier ZF, is looking to get in on the front line of composite technology with a new carbon fiber MacPherson strut assembly. According to the manufacturer, this new suspension component cuts up to 9 pounds at each corner through the use of an integrated wheel carrier, a piston rod of carbon fiber, a fiberglass spring (a use seen on cars such as the Corvette for years) and a plastic top mounting plate. While this unit is initially designed for the upcoming wave of small cars, ZF says the technology can be applied to larger offerings as well.

Other models $1.1k - $1.2k Reasons are CF is getting rather rare at the moment and their version is super light 8KG ... Not even sure If can pass LTA inspection.
