  1. I can only imagine how it feels like to do a burnout. To have all that power sent straight to the wheels, to hear your tortured tires screaming, to smell the smoke before you go full send and are thrown back into your seat as the lights go green. This GetGo driver can join me and keep imagining too. What happened? On March 20, at Bedok North Avenue 3, a GetGo car was beginning to move forward after a green light when its handbrake engaged. However, the driver continued to move and was even in the process of turning left while his rear tyres were locked up. This is even more confusing when you realise that the sound the rear tyres made would be even louder for the driver, as the audio recorded was from a cam car. Not to mention the feedback from having 2 immobile wheels. And bro was still driving?? A kind police officer followed the GetGo car and pulled him over to help with his issue. Online chatter Most people were criticising the driver and his skill issue. To be fair, I think it’s warranted. This one even if he cannot hear anything, confirm still can feel right? Others had a laugh. Also warranted. I think when the driver realises what happened, he will start quoting Lewis Hamilton. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. TL;DR - A near-miss accident as a Nissan Qashqai driver forgets to engage the handbrake before switching drivers. As a female driver myself, I do not conform to both the stereotypes: 1. Female drivers are bad drivers 2. Females do not drive as well as males This incident debunks the tropes. Watch this 86-second video to see how this male driver conveniently leaves the car without engaging the handbrake, causing the car to roll backwards. So what happened? The Qashqai driver stopped midway on the road in Malaysia where he decided to switch driver seats with the passenger princess. That, itself, is triggering enough for the cam car. To add a cherry on top, the driver consigned to oblivion as he stepped out of the car, without applying his handbrake. This caused the car to roll backwards. The cam car continuously honked at the Qashqai before both cars kissed. Ignorance is not always bliss... I’m sure we have all heard of the typical words from a male driver: “Confirm female driver” “Must be some lady driving” “Want to bet that it's a woman driving?” However, statistically-speaking, males cause more road accidents than women. Additionally, the crashes involving male drivers are reportedly more grievous than women behind the wheels. Online Chatter I guess this man took one for the team and now we, as females, can proudly say, we are not that bad of a driver. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. i wonder who dares to put out such disparaging car experience in Singapore. PS. Most common conti models are assembled locally in Malaysia (CKD).

I've check on my car, and the brake light doesn't come on, so wondering whats the norm or it needs some attention. Thanks for giving me some advice on what's observed on your car even if its not a Kia.
  5. When parking the car, is it ok to leave the auto transmission in P mode while not using hand brake or parking brake? Will this damage the transmission, even when not parking on a slope or incline?
  6. Hi all, I need advice on new cars with OMV not exceeding $20,000, equipped with handbrake and has the signal lever on the right side, Any new car models that fit the criteria except Lancer EX? I am not looking at SUVs due to physical limitations. Thanks

  11. Dear all these few days I noticed that when I step on the gas, the handbrake light will come on. It will go off after awhile when I am on very very light throttle and just coasting. It will turn off when I brake. Check handbrake is fully down when that happens. Could it be the brake assembly is stuck? Need some experience and advice please. Thanks and regards.
  12. Good tuesday to all, I wonder how many clicks do you hear when you pull your handbrake/parking brake after parking. Foot brakers not relevant. i chance across a service manual(for similar car but different rear brake) that says 6-9 clicks is norm. mine using disc brake already very tight at 3-4. Yes i can pull more but that'll be excessive force. Just a poll to find out the norm.
  13. Anyone has this issue? Previously handbrake can hold on at slope with just two clicks when i pull it up. Now with 3 clicks it barely holds on well at the same slope at SIM old entrance. Any idea how much it may cost to fix/replace?
  14. Not all cars need to pull down the handbrake to run. See what happens when a driver forgets to pull it down but is still able to drive without even noticing. Very cool video
  15. Hi guys! I'm trying to see if I can get hold of this part cheaper thru other means (CA is asking for $200+ for it ) But I don't have the part number and CA do not want to tell me what's the part number. Wondering if any of you guys with the cup holder can take a pic for me and post it here so that I can send it to some folks in the UK to let them know what I am talking about Your efforts would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  16. Unwittingly drove off without releasing the handbrake today. Leads me to wonder why the accelerator can override the handbrake, anyone knows? It seems to me it is safer if handbrake overrides accelerator. Makes me also a little worried that my car mechanism will be damaged if I make such mistakes or that the handbrake will one day fail after parking the car...
  17. Yo all, 1)Where's a good place in the east to change brakepads and also provide handbrake tightening service? Any to intro? 2)Bumpy ride, what could be the cause? Tires coming to 2 years, some uneven-ness, would that be the cause? or maybe other components such as suspension?
  18. i just broke my handbrake cable while do a handbrake turn... anyone noes how much its going to cost to fix it? driver side power window also gave way. now cannot open my driver side window anymore..knn..nothing seems right lately. car also gif problem! sigh..
  19. Hi All, Its driving me nuts...... my ABS and handbrake lights keep turning on. It comes on intermittently. After awhile of driving, switching off the engine (or at least pull out the key with turbo timer on but engine running), the lights will go off. Then it might or might not come back during the rest of the journey. (Now seems to come on more frequently) Both lights always come on together. Mech checked and found brake line leak. Replaced it but the symptoms still there. Topped up brake fluid as mech said might be caused by too low level. But I went back & played with the sensor in the reservoir..... it only turns on the handbrake lights... not the ABS. Can anyone advise what could be the probably cause? Thanks
  20. I noticed almost all of my friends and colleagues pull the handbrake with a 'grrrr' sound. Years ago, my driving instructor had said that this was not the way as it wears out certain mechanisms faster... true? What are your habits?
  21. Hi guys and gals. My sis-in law interested in the abovementioned cos getting the RAZO pedal and gear knob from a friend. Anyone knows where can I get the handbrake or handbrake cover?
  22. Since I have acquired my first car that uses a fotbrake instead of the 'normal' handbrake, it actually set me thinking about what people generally prefer. Initially, it felt quite weird to use the footbrake, but now I feel it is much better to have than the handbrake. It certainly provides more accessible 'space' where the handbrake normally appears! And another thing, I also have the gear stick on the steering column.... such a weird concept (even though I've seen it before years ago). I still find myself changing to the wrong gear using it. Has anyone else had such an experience with this?
  23. Hi all, just wondering if anyone of you changed the normal handbrake to footbrakes? Any major operations? Pls skilled mechanics to intro? Im driving a honda airwave... Thanks!!
  24. Hi, anyone know where can get Momo Handbrake?
  25. Hi guys Just wondering, at a traffic junction, if my gear remains at “Drive”, but I activate the “foot” handbrake, would that cause any negative effect on my Latio? Basically, I don like the idea of having to step on the brake while in Drive mode. Strenous and yet at same time, may cause my brake pads to wear off faster. Pls advise
