  1. TL;DR - Double whammy as a BMW X6 crashes into building before taking out nearby pedestrians at Jalan Besar At this point, it’s not safe to be anywhere. Even on pavements, there’s a risk that a pedestrian gets hit by vehicles. Here's an example. Watch this 89-second clip of the crash. What happened? The driver of the BMW X6 lost control of the car and went head on into the building (right beside Hotel 81…) at Jalan Besar. He also took out the Mayo Street road sign. Hello LTA? If you look closely enough (at the first three seconds), there was a male pedestrian wearing white who seemed like he got caught in between as the car literally rammed towards his direction. Hope he’s okay... Online Chatter The comments were pretty brutal, everyone seems to be putting the blame on the driver. Which makes sense but of course, we shouldn’t be too quick to judge since we do not know the full story. He seemed fine (and weirdly calm) though since he was able to get out of the car without assistance and strolled to the other side. Some sharp-eyed netizens noticed the striking white and blue Hotel 81 signboard just beside the Cheers convenience store the driver crashed into. Oooh steamy...? I mean the car as it got busted. 2. My car kena hit-and-run while parked stationery at my MSCP two days ago. A kind-hearted uncle who witnessed the act left a note on my windscreen. I proceeded to retrieve a clean video footage of the hit-n-run incident. I proceeded to make a police report and accident claim at my insurer's workshop. The workshop will file a claim against the culprit and told me I will be advised of the next steps in about 7 working days. Anyone with similar experience? Will my claim be successful?
  3. A mobile phone has been hurt as a result of this unfortunate accident between a van and a pedestrian along Sophia Road heading towards Wilkie Road on 11th of September. As we can see from this video posted onStomp and ROAD.sg, the driver of this Nissan van seemed to be distracted and was not paying attention to where he was heading, knocking a poor pedestrian hard from the back. Clearly, the van driver is at fault here... According to the police, the 40-year old pedestrian was conscious when conveyed to Raffles Hospital. He could be seen clutching his head as the video was about the end. We hope all is well for him. And his phone! 52576251_174470654273041_5621453545594435322_n.mp4
  4. JUST IN: HardwareZone Forum hit by security breach, 685,000 registered user profiles affected, police report lodged Here is the statement from SPH Magazines, which owns the HardwareZone Forum site, in full: "Arising from a suspicious posting on HardwareZone (HWZ) Forum website on 18 February, an investigation was immediately launched to ascertain whether a security breach on the HardwareZone (HWZ) Forum site occurred. The investigation found that: A Senior Moderator’s account had been compromised by an unidentified hacker and used to view approximately 685,000 registered user profiles since September 2017. The hacker used the compromised credentials to impersonate the Senior Moderator to retrieve user profile data which comprised name, email address and user ID, and possible optional data fields. The HWZ database does not contain NRIC numbers, telephone numbers and addresses as these were purged in line with the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) Guidelines in July 2015. As a matter of precaution, forum users were advised to change their forum account password. SPH Magazines, which owns the HWZ site, has also engaged security consultants to conduct a thorough review of the system. A police report has been lodged and PDPC has been informed. SPH Magazines and HWZ sincerely apologise to HWZ users for this breach of security. We remain committed to protecting all personal data shared with us." http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/st-now-news-as-it-happens-feb-20-2018 MCF got tio bo? Also under SPH, right?
