1. TL;DR - A jaywalker dashes across the road without checking for incoming vehicles and almost getting rammed by cam car. Watch this 40-second clip of a blur 'sotong' getting the shock of her life after a near-accident she caused herself. What happened? In the video, you can see a jaywalker making a run along the busy Balestier Road and almost getting knocked down by the cam car. This lady almost couldn’t celebrate this Chinese New Year. Thankfully the fast reflexes of the cam car driver saved her life, as the driver, too, e-braked in the nick of time. If you’ve been out and about Singapore, you would know that roads in Balestier, Geylang, Little India and Serangoon often see the most jaywalkers, as the traffic lights are usually far apart from one another. So here’s a cautionary reminder to watch out for cars when you cross the road. And also to not jaywalk. Let’s see what the netizens have to say about this: The comments lambasted the lady for not checking for incoming vehicles before she jaywalked. Many of them also commented on how good the e-brakes of her legs were. Pretty sick. Takeaway Pedestrians are a vulnerable group of road users. Therefore, we can all do our parts by walking a few hundred meters to the traffic light and guess what! You also get to clock in your 10,000 steps - a win-win situation. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. When an individual jaywalks, it is almost a no-brainer to check for oncoming traffic and blind spots before crossing the road. Unfortunately, this jaywalker had to learn to check for oncoming traffic and her blind spots the hard way: What Happened? This accident occurred on 20th February 2022, along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 after the SPC petrol station. The cam car was travelling along lane 3 at a relatively slow speed. Out of the blue, a woman dashes out from in-between two cars along lane 2. It was apparent that the woman did not bother checking her blind spot and simply assumed that there was no oncoming car. The cam car driver, who was unable to react in time, ended up colliding into the jaywalking woman with a substantial amount of force that sent her flying in mid-air for a good second or so. NGL, I am certain that F1 drivers cannot react in time if they were in the above situation. After landing on her back, the lady instantly got up to her feet. She then walked towards the roadside and sat on the grass while a passerby, the cam car driver and his passenger attended to her. This was a fortunate outcome for the jaywalking lady, considering she emerged from this accident without much hurt. Hopefully, this experience proves to be a valuable lesson to her. Netizens' Comments Hopefully some regulations can be made to protect motorists too. 💯 Hahaha what a troll. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. "Red light stop, green light go" is a basic and universal traffic rule. Heck. Even if you live under a rock, the viral Netflix show 'Squid Game' would have taught you otherwise. Sadly, two 'ah-bengs' and one of their 'zha-bor' simply couldn't understand this simple traffic rule and got into multiple confrontations with a lorry driver. Watch it here: What Happened? Two 'ah-bengs' and a woman blatantly jaywalked in front of oncoming traffic at Victoria Road. The lorry they obstructed honked them for their blatant disregard for road safety. And boy, oh boy, did that honk shatter both their fragile ego. Compensating For Their Shattered Ego Both 'ah-bengs' immediately gestured at the lorry driver with their hands to signal to the lorry driver, "What's your problem?!" 'Ah-beng' #1 in the long pants, then threw a lit cigarette at the lorry, but it rebounded and hit him in the face. Meanwhile, ah-beng' #2 in shorts made an intimidating action of wanting to 'rush' towards the lorry, only to be held back by his 'zha-bor'. As the lorry drove down the road slowly, 'ah-beng' #1 continued walking alongside the lorry while shouting at the driver. Just then, he suddenly jumps and attempts to spit inside the lorry, only to lose his balance and fall ass-first onto the road. NGL, it is hilarious that he acts all tough but can't do something as simple as jumping without falling over. The lorry driver then proceeded to stop at the curbside and settle with those uncouth beings. Unfortunately, what happened afterwards remain unknown, as the video ends after the lorry driver opens his door. A Lesson To Learn A takeaway from this incident would be to get yourself a woman who stops you from doing stupid shit. Unless, of course, your woman is a 'Karen' like the one in this viral incident: In that case, GLHF! You might end up getting arrested for doing stupid shit like the Bentley driver. Netizens' Comments 🤷‍♂️ In a nutshell. You never hear meh? Bentley driver kena arrested liao. ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! 4. Jaywalking is a common sight in Singapore that is done WHEN TRAFFIC IS CLEAR ( I am sure we are guilty of doing it before). But then, there's this guy. Watch this short video to see how this dumb pedestrian jaywalks: This incident took place along Ang Mo Kio Ave 10, towards Ang Mo Kio Ave 5. Plain dumb or ignorant? Of all the times to jaywalk, this fella decides to jaywalk when an oncoming car approaches the traffic light. And the worst part is that he doesn't even bother to look left and right for traffic before crossing. A near-miss The jaywalker can be seen raising his hand and using the "force" to stop the cam car just before it hits him. (Nah, I am kidding - If not for the cam car's quick reflexes, an accident would have already occurred.) The worst part about it is that the jaywalker did not seem to realise that he almost got into an accident and walks off, cool as a cucumber Netizens' comments LMAO, the ending got me. Ah boy, stop jaywalking and learn your lesson ok? If there is really a need to jaywalk, at least ensure traffic is clear before doing so. Please cherish your life. 7. What would you do when you encounter this jaywalker who danced after you almost banged into him? http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=8d5_1388605448
8. I was driving down Upper Thomson Road this afternoon (15 June) at around 12.30pm. From Sembawang towards Lornie direction. Just before the church area, where there is a opening in the road divider for motorists who want to u-turn to Thomson Plaza, one old man casually just jaywalk across the road. Even though there were 3 cars approaching, the old man also don't care, just slowly walk. I remember this was abt the same venue where an old man who was a ex-olympic medal weightlifter got knock down by a car recently when crossing the road. The authorities have already put up barricades on the road dividers, so now the jaywalkers just try to go thru' the divider opening at the u-turn. There is traffic light crossing further down, and overhead bridge further up. I posted the footage from my in-car camera on u-tube. Not sure if u guys can access cos' it's my 1st time attaching video. Anyway, luckily the white Lexus managed to brake in time, and the black Forester also nearly hit the Lexus backside. My car was on Lane 1, but not speeding cos' that place now always got hidden cameras. I honk at the Ah Pek when i drove past, but he just carry on walking. Not sure if he cross the other half of the road towards Thomson Plaza in the same manner. I think he probably did cos' his attitude is just like that. Anyway i can't be bothered to confirm lah, it is his life. The authorities should seriously take action against the jaywalkers there before a repeat of the very sad fatal accident happens. If this old fella is the father/grandfather of any of the forumers reading, please take care of him lah. Don't let him get killed, and get motorists into trouble in the process for no good reason. No motorists in their right mind wants to knock or kill any pedestrians. But i think pedestrians need to play their part too, and not assume that motorists can always brake in time.
9. Driver still at fault? Still new to driving.. If they suddenly dashout, shouldnt it be their fault? How can a driver react in time? Say even if we very cautious and slowing down already.
