  1. 2021 Hyundai Elantra About to Get Dramatic Redesign Like Sonata Stay tune for more info.
  2. Beauty is in the eye of beholder. The new look is too much a change for me, especially the odd looking C-pillar. OK I boomer, @RadX say one. Other than these few photos, Kia did not reveal any specification of the new Cerato replacement, which is schedule to debut on March 27, at the New York Auto Show.
  3. Hyundai has quietly published the first images of its mildly updated Elantra on its website in South Korea where the compact sedan is sold as the Avante. The styling revisions come quite early in the life cycle considering the seventh generation was unveiled in March 2020 before going on sale later that year. The bulk of the changes is noticeable at the front where the 2024 Avante gets flatter headlights flanking a newly added metallic bar stretching across the entire width of the grille. Speaking of which, Hyundai has decided to split the grille into two by adding a body-colored element in the center. It makes the grille less in your face, and we'd argue that’s for the better. Faux air intakes at the corners of the bumper lend the front fascia a sportier appearance. There's not much going on at the rear where the Elantra's taillights have been seemingly carried over. We do notice the bumper has a different look with a pseudo diffuser and a wide U-shaped silver element extending from one corner to the other. We're getting the impression there are more glossy black surfaces than before while the red horizontal reflectors appear to be slightly wider. With this being only a facelift, the side profile has been carried over nearly unchanged, although those two-tone wheels seem to be a new variation of an existing set. In addition, the plastic panel at the C-pillar has a more intricate pattern now while the chrome beltline is slightly thicker at the end. Inside, a new Sage Green theme with eco-friendly material is the only novelty announced thus far.
  4. All-new 2019 Kia Forte unveiled at North American International Auto Show. http://www.motortrend.com/cars/kia/forte/2019/2019-kia-forte-first-look-review/ https://www.kiamedia.com/us/en/media/pressreleases/13438/all-new-2019-forte-makes-world-debut-at-north-american-international-auto-show1
  5. Calling all potential MPV buyers, in the sea of SUVs and Crossover, MPV is not dead yet... @Ct3833 @Atrecord @Enye @Hamburger @Heartlander @fitto77 @Fat_slayer @mersaylee Hyundai Motor Offers First Peek at STARIA, New MPV with Premium and Futuristic Design Hyundai’s new MPV model is equipped with futuristic design cues and space innovation providing premium in-car experience SEOUL, March 11, 2021 - Hyundai Motor Company today unveiled the teaser images of STARIA, the brand’s new multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) lineup. The images show the STARIA Premium, a high-end variant of STARIA standard model. The STARIA name combines ‘star’ and ‘ria’ , in reference to the vehicle’s future-oriented product values and streamlined design characteristics defined by one curve gesture silhouettes as well as clean and pure body volume. STARIA reflects Hyundai’s commitment to lead the future mobility industry as a Smart Mobility Solution Provider, under the brand’s vision of ‘Progress for Humanity.’ STARIA is equipped with various driver-centric features and futuristic design elements that deliver new experiences for drivers and passengers that make time in transit more productive and worthwhile. STARIA offers a strikingly futuristic and mysterious exterior, resembling a spaceship. The front is highlighted by a long, horizontal daytime running light and headlamps positioned underneath. The spaceship vibe is echoed by its expansive panoramic windows and lower belt lines, underscoring the openness of the interior. The height of the cabin is also optimized for premium comfort and convenience, making it ideal for both business and family use. “STARIA is Hyundai’s new MPV lineup that opens up a new mobility era,” said SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Hyundai Design. “STARIA will provide a completely new experience and value proposition for customers through its unprecedented design features.” STARIA Premium, which will be available in select markets, takes mobility to the next level, sporting premium features and variant-exclusive finishes for a more luxurious look and feel. Hyundai Motor will unveil more details regarding design features of STARIA and STARIA Premium in the coming weeks.
  6. Hyundai Kona debuts with a bigger body and buyers will be able to get the new Kona as an EV, hybrid, combustion engine only, and a sporty N Line model. Hyundai's designers started by creating the new Kona EV and then applied the look to the other versions. In front, all of them share a distinctive light bar along the hood's edge. The headlights are below this strip on the outer corners. The lower fascia's styling is the primary differentiating factor among the 2024 Kona models. The EV has pixel-like elements there, and the styling shares some cues with Hyundai's Ioniq vehicles. The standard ICE vehicle has a rectangular opening in this space. The N Line has a more aggressive appearance by using a trapezoidal element. From the side, the 2024 Kona models share a similar look. The hybrid- and combustion-powered variants have body cladding on the fenders. The EV and N Line keep this section in the body color. The N Line has a rear spoiler, silver side skirts, and available black pieces for the mirror caps and roof. The rear matches the front by having a light bar stretch across the hatchback. Like the headlights, the tail lamps are in the lower corners. The N Line gets dual exhaust outlets. The new Kona EV is 4,355 millimeters long, which is 150 millimeters longrr than the existing model. The wheelbase increases by 60 millimeters while the width is wider by 25 millimeters. Inside, the new Kona has a pair of 12.3-inch screens that share a single bezel. The gearshift is now on the column behind the steering wheel. Below the big displays, the center stack includes a pair of vents and the controls for the HVAC system. In the second row, there's a simple rear bench. The company's announcement says that it follows the rest of the new Kona's "21st-century urban design aesthetic." The automaker isn't yet disclosing powertrain specifications or pricing details for the new Kona. Hyundai will release that info in the coming months.
  7. Have to say that Kia is really stepping up the game. Basing on these silhouette shots, I think it 同父异母 (same father different mother) sibling, Hyundai Tucson, has no fight... The official teaser campaign for the 2022 Kia Sportage has begun. The new Sportage will be officially unveiled on 8 June 2021,which is exactly 1 week from now.
  8. Both the exterior and interior have the Land Rover vibe, and seems up market.
  9. Kia has only begun putting its next-generation Sorento SUV on the road last month, when a heavily camouflaged prototype was spotted testing alongside a BMW X5 – not a bad benchmark vehicle at all. Today, we can show you a considerably less shy prototype, roaming the Nurburgring Nordschleife wearing Recaro racing seats and tighter-fitting foil, allowing us to better gauge its design language and overall dimensions. Less fussy design The 2019 Sorento isn’t exactly the cleanest-looking SUV in its segment. It has a lot of curvy design elements that seem to be squeezed together tightly in order to create a somewhat modern aesthetic. So what does Kia have planned for an encore? Apparently something with a sharper yet simpler design, featuring a more boxy front end plus a very ProCeed-like window line that curves upwards toward the tailgate. As for the rear end, the cutout on this prototype only tells half the story, as the taillights don’t appear to be horizontal anymore. Instead, it almost looks like they feature a boomerang design that extends onto the fenders. Of course, whether or not that’s the case, we still can’t say for certain. Also read: 2020 Kia Seltos Unveiled As The Company’s New Small SUV For Global Markets Meanwhile, we’re still not ready to give up on this render from last month, especially since there are a lot of common front fascia (thin headlights, grille design) and shoulder line features to speak of. As for what the new Sorento will be like to drive, we expect more efficient powertrains and better dynamics, while improved driver assistance and convenience technologies remain a given. Kia will probably launch its next-generation Sorento sometime next year as a 2021 model.
  10. Look like scene from Tunnel (Korean movie). Make me wonder how safe is our MRT tunnel, CTE, KPE, MCE and such. Are we well prepared for the worst case scenario, even if the chance of occurrence is 1 in 100 or even 1000 years? Source: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/asia/south-korea-floods-yoon-suk-yeol-failure-disaster-response-rules-death-toll-missing-3633441 SEOUL: South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol on Monday (Jul 17) blamed authorities' failure to follow disaster response rules as the death toll from days of torrential rain grew to 39, including a dozen people found dead in a submerged underpass. The rains have pummelled the country's central and southern regions since Thursday as the rainy season that started in late June reaches its peak. The interior ministry has also reported nine people missing and 34 injured across the nation. Twelve deaths, including three bodies retrieved overnight, occurred in a tunnel in the central city of Cheongju, where 16 vehicles, including a bus, were swamped by a flash flood on Saturday after a river levee collapsed. Nine others were hurt. The incident fuelled questions over South Korea's efforts to prevent and respond to flood damage. Some drivers who use the road regularly blamed the government for failing to ban access to the underpass even though floods were widely forecast. According to Yonhap, South Korean police said they would launch an investigation into the fatal flooding of the underpass in Cheongju. Floods have claimed dozens of lives during recent rainy seasons as weather patterns have become more extreme. Yoon, just back from an overseas trip, on Monday convened an intra-agency meeting on disaster response and said the situation was made worse because of poor management of vulnerable areas. Ahead of a visit to flood-hit North Gyeongsang province on Monday, Yoon said: "This kind of extreme weather event will become commonplace - we must accept climate change is happening, and deal with it." The idea that extreme weather linked to climate change "is an anomaly and can't be helped needs to be completely overhauled", he said, calling for "extraordinary determination" to improve the country's preparedness and response. South Korea will "mobilise all available resources" including the military and police to help with rescue efforts, he said.

  13. The distance cousin of Hyundai Ioniq 5. Basing on the silhouette seen below, it look like a sportier version of Ioniq 5. I like! Hyundai inaugurated the E-GMP platform dedicated to electric vehicles a couple of weeks ago with the Ioniq 5 and now sister brand Kia is about to unveil the EV6 riding on the same underpinnings. The zero-emissions model is the firm's first EV to adopt the latest design language and adopts the new nomenclature that will be used by future dedicated electric cars, as small as the EV1 and as large as the EV9. Much like the Ioniq 5, it takes the shape of a crossover and a dedicated page on Kia UK's site mentions the design is derived from the 2019 Imagine concept. It looks nothing like other production models from the South Korean brand and has the typically short overhangs you'd expect from a dedicated EV. It will be able to cover more than 483Km and will only take 18 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent, which is the same thing we can say about the Ioniq 5. Should you be in a hurry, four minutes of charging equate to 100Km of range. 0 to 100Km/h will take only 3.5 seconds, which is quite interesting considering the quickest and most powerful Ioniq 5 of the bunch does the job in 5.2 seconds. EVs don't excel in terms of top speed and it should be the same story with the EV6, although it seems to be sportier than the Hyundai version, which is capped at 185 Km/h regardless of configuration.

  15. Hi all, I'm new here with a recent purchase of the avante S model. Since the purchase, there has been a creaking sound from the under carriage on the driver side. Only can be heard at 100km/h or above. I sent it in for a check and the mechanic said he tightened some bolt at the under carriage and asked me to monitor. Even after this, the sound is still there. Anyone encountered this? Apologies if this has been raised before as I have not read through the entire thread yet. Thanks 🙏
  16. Just read this about the "Gold Miss" in Korea Looks good, SLK and co... FYI https://www.straitstimes.com/opinion/south-koreas-gold-miss-looking-for-love-overseas By elite, he means a bachelor with a professional career, college degree, good family background and earning a minimum annual salary of US$200,000 (S$268,000). In return, he promises a highly educated Korean woman who is raised well under her parents' supervision to be a good wife, wholly devoted to her husband and children and passionate about taking good care of them, highly interested in the children's education, and who will strive to have a harmonious family. I know, not all Korean women look like these stars, but the average lady sans surgery is still sweet, and besides, the character and heart matter more right? https://origin.koreaboo.com/stories/heres-gold-miss-means-in-korea-actually-positive-thing/ May our bros find someone they can love too, locally or overseas..

  18. After a long hiatus, a new compact / mid size MPV is coming from Kia finally, which will be officially unveiled in another 10 days time. This shall be a strong challenger to the BMW 2GT, Citroen Grand C4 SpaceTourer, Honda Freed, Peugoet 5008, Renault Grand Scenic, Toyota Sienta and VW Touran. Kia has officially announced the return of the Carens nameplate in a brand new minivan that will be unveiled on December 16. The teaser video published by the Korean automaker gives us a glimpse of the Carens which is rumored to share its underpinnings with the Seltos SUV. The fourth-generation Carens appears to adopt a more SUV-like appearance instead of the outdated one-box MPV silhouette of its predecessors. It also inherits Kia’s latest design language with thin LED headlights and full-width taillights similar to the ones on the new Sportage. The new Carens will likely be longer and taller than the Seltos in order to provide more interior space and practicality. The tall roofline will also allow for a third row of seats making it a seven-seater like its predecessor. After its world premiere on December 16, the model will roll out in India, follow by other markets at a later date.
  19. Radio Free Asia reported that one student who bought a copy of the drive has since received a life sentence, while six others who watched the show have been sentenced to five years hard labor. Some teachers will also be fired etc etc
  20. While many of us are still admiring the facelifted G70, the assault continues in Korea with Genesis showing to the world another brand new SUV in its lineup! Come on KMC, please re-introduce the Genesis brand in Singapore. It should perform much better this time round. We’ve known for a while now that the Genesis lineup is growing, and today the company showed off the newest member of the family. The 2022 GV70 SUV made its unofficial debut in typical Genesis form: no specifics, but a few pictures to grab our attention. It’s not the first time the Korean luxury brand has pulled off this stunt; it sneakily pulled the cover off the new G80 sedan in similar style. But today is all about the GV70, the second SUV in the Genesis range of cars, acting as the little sibling to the GV80. Now that it’s not wearing any camouflages, we can see the GV70’s full design, including a rather close resemblance to the recently facelifted G70 sedan. The brand’s dual-line motif continues here with the split headlight and taillight layout, along with the now-ubiquitous shield grille. We’ll argue that the GV70 is a bit spicier than the GV80, especially with the dramatic c-pillar shape, and attention-seeking upright exhausts. Genesis also previewed the GV70 Sport, which includes blacked-out details and specific oval exhausts. And wow, the wheels look great, too. Inside things are more familiar, with the same 14.5-inch touchscreen perched atop the dash (as in the GV80), and ditto the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The GV70 shakes up the recipe some, with ambient lighting surrounding the climate controls, and oval shapes popping up throughout the interior. While more pictures are sure to follow soon, Genesis' latest cabin design seems like a fun reinterpretation of prior models. Although the company is still mum on the majority of the specs, but we can assume – with some certainty – what will be under the hood. That means donations from the GV80, including a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder and optional 3.5-liter six-cylinder, with potentially up to 375 horsepower. Stay tuned for more updates.
  21. What is there not to like about this car? Genesis officially reveals the facelifted G70 for the 2021 model year, confirming the expected adoption of the G80's fascia, and more. Hyundai's luxury arm continues on with its athletic exterior design for the G70. This design language is enhanced with the sharpness of the two-tier headlights called Quad Lamps, accentuating the signature Genesis crest grille that now bears a different shape. In profile, the G70 gets two lines to highlight the sort of muscular form. However, it dropped the twin LED turn signals of the G80 and exchanged it with side air extractors that are optimized for efficiency. The new G70 naturally gets a redesigned set of wheels. The rear end echoes the Quad Lamp from the front, while a shapely trunk that almost looks like a lip spoiler serves as a highlight, along with the two oval exhaust tips and body-colored diffusers. Inside, the facelifted Genesis G70 boasts a driver-centric layout but more importantly, it hosts the latest connectivity options in a car. A new 10.25-inch infotainment system crowns the dashboard, featuring an exclusive Genesis UI design supporting the latest over-the-air (OTA, wifi update feature) wireless updates, Valet mode, and CarPay. Wireless charging has also been updated to accommodate bigger smartphones. No powertrain specifications have been revealed yet, but reports have been circulating about the loss of the manual gearbox. We'll know more about this as we draw close to its official debut at the new Genesis G70's market launch in Korea next month.
  22. https://uk.motor1.com/news/542379/ssangyong-to-be-sold-260million/ "SsangYong to be sold for only £188 million It wasn't a buttery smooth ride for the South Korean automaker. SsangYong is reportedly getting a fresh start, thanks to a six-year-old electric vehicle startup. The South Korean automaker filed for bankruptcy in December 2020 and is currently under court receivership. According to Nikkei Asia, SsangYong named an Edison Motors-led tie-up as its preferred bidder. The deal is said to be worth around $260 million,(approx. £188 million) according to the publication's sources. The automaker and the bidder are expected to finalise and ink a corporate agreement towards the end of November. Edison was founded in 2015 and is known to make electric buses and develop commercial trucks. Its interest in SsangYong can be attributed to its intention to penetrate the passenger vehicle market, with the aim to mass-produce passenger EVs in the automaker's factory in Pyeongtaek. To say that SsangYong Motor has a smooth-sailing corporate life would be blatant lie. Starting its life in 1986, South Korea's fourth-largest automaker began its world-renown in 1991 with its high-profile partnership with Daimler, enabling it to develop an SUV with Mercedes-Benz technology. Then in 1997, Daewoo bought a controlling stake at SsangYong. That was short-lived as Daewoo then sold off its shares. Chinese automaker SAIC bought a 51 percent stake of SsangYong in 2004. In 2009, the company reported a $75.42 million (£54.63 million) loss, putting the company under court receivership. Mahindra & Mahindra took over the company in 2011, costing the Indian company $463.6 million (£335.8 million). And while it looked like the Korean automaker was back on its feet during its time with Mahindra, it could not recover completely, which led to its current debt-laden state today. SsangYong isn't about to give up despite its long trail of troubles. The company has announced a design concept called the X200 showing its intention to capitalise on the rising tide of boxy SUVs."
