  3. CNA repoprt : Jail term and caning for fortune teller who raped daughter of medium By Claire Huang | Posted: 27 August 2012 1244 hrs SINGAPORE: A fortune teller has been sentenced to 12 years' jail and six strokes of the cane for raping the daughter of a medium. Siah Kwang Yung, 40, admitted to raping an 18-year-old girl on September 12 last year at about midnight. Investigations showed that the victim's mother is deeply religious and that she has been practising as a medium for the past nine years. On September 5, the mother chanced upon Siah, who was offering fortune-telling services at a make-shift stall along Waterloo Street. Siah convinced the victim's mother that a demon had possessed her body and was the cause of her bad luck. On September 7, Siah visited the woman's flat and said he had to stay there to exorcise the demons in the house. On September 12, Siah made his move on the victim. He told the victim's mother, her boyfriend, the victim's brother and his friend to stay out of the girl's room. Then Siah proceeded to rape the victim in her bedroom. Earlier in court, the prosecution pointed out several aggravating factors in the case. The prosecution said Siah abused the family's trust in him and manipulated them. In fact, Siah had brazenly asked the victim's mother if he could perform a ritual with the victim naked. His request was rejected by the mother. The prosecution described Siah's act as despicable and asked for a sentence significantly higher than the benchmark of 10 years' jail and six strokes of the cane. The maximum penalty for the offence under 375(2) of the Penal Code is 20 years' imprisonment with a fine or caning. - CNA/wm None win ...... Fancy a medium would believe a fortune teller .... Always heard cases of medium molest or rape victim but this one top it all .....
  4. SINGAPORE - A Singapore website dealing with used cars - Singapore Cars Online - was hacked by a group of Malaysian hackers earlier today. Calling themselves M43L Tro0pers, the hackers put a picture of Malaysia's national striker, Mohd Safee Mohd Sali, in the centre of the homepage. They also included a message to Singapore fans. The hackers say they hacked into the website as they were angry at Singapore fans. They accused Singapore fans of being "so rude" when Malaysia lost to Singapore in the recent World Cup qualifier matches. The hackers also accused Singapore's Lions of "cheating" and "acting", and that they won because of their foreign players. At the end of the hate message to Singapore fans, the hackers left a message to the website owners: RELATED STORIES Singapore lauds foreign-born players after win Singapore ousts Malaysia in World Cup Qualifiers More stories "Don't worry, we didn't harm your database. We never stole and we never delete your database. We just paste and we just see and collected your database. You got pwned coz your server was opened to got hacked." It is believed that two hackers, called 'Ar3z M43L Sr' and 'Ap3k M43L Jr', are responsible for the hacking. When users tried right-clicking on any of the subsections in the homepage, their names would appear. In an email to citizen journalism website STOMP, a netizen said their Manglish (Malaysian English) was embarrassing. Another netizen said the hacking of the Singapore website is yet another reason why Singapore rejoining the Malaysia Cup is a bad idea. The netizen, who calls himself 'Zerocool', said: "Haven't we had enough? This is yet another reason why we should not rejoin the Malaysia Cup, because it shows that this type of animosity between Singaporeans and Malaysians can be expressed openly. "It's definitely not a healthy trend we're seeing. If they don't want us, then why are we crawling back to them? "We should just forget about the Malaysian Cup. We don't need this nonsense." A check at 4.50pm on Sunday evening showed that the motoring website was back to its original state.
  5. published somewhere,... QUOTE Friday . April 25, 2008 NEWLY arrived, a maid asked her employer if she could get a rest day. Her employer was incredulous. "If I wanted to give my maid a day off, I would have hired one from another country," said the employer, who had signed her up on the assumption that maids of some nationalities were more pliant than others. Faced with an employment contract that requires them to either give their maids a rest day, or compensate them accordingly for working, some Singaporean employers have sought ways to get around the terms or extract the most from their workers. And this begs the question of how much has truly changed for the 170,000 foreign domestic workers in our midst - two years after the industry association put together a standard contract requiring employers to give maids at least one day off a month. A Today straw poll of 50 employers found that only 62 per cent gave their maids a rest day. With some industry watchers criticising the rest-day clause as being too flexible, should legislation be put in place to mandate the issue? .... There are several simple reasons why many Singaporean employers are reluctant to give their maids a day off. You see, if the maid runs away, the government will fine the employer $5,000. If the maid commits a crime such as shoplifting, the government will fine the employer $5,000. If the maid is caught having sex with someone, the government will fine the employer $5,000. If the maid gets pregnant, the government will also fine the employer $5,000. Oh, and you have to send your maid for a pregnancy testevery six months). If you didn't know any of the above, then either you do not employ a maid, or you didn't read the small print of the Manpower Ministry's work permit conditions. Many employers are afraid that if their maid has a day off and gets into trouble, the employer will not only have to solve the trouble, but also have to fork out $5,000 as a free gift to the government. (Not that the government will then help you solve the trouble. It's just a fine, plain & simple). Intuitively, this smacks of gross unfairness. The employer gets punished not for something he did, but for something that somebody else (the maid) did. Furthermore, once the maid leaves the employer's residence, the employer has no way of monitoring where the maid goes and what she does there. To encourage employers to give their maids a day off, the government needs to change these ridiculous rules. I agree that employers should be fined and punished, if they fail to perform their responsibilities as employers - for example, paying the maid's salary on time; providing adequate food and accommodation; and ensuring a safe, secure working environment. But employers should not be held responsible, for things that a maid may do, of her own free will. When the maid goes out on her rest day, the employer simply has no viable way to ensure that she will not do anything that breaches her work permit conditions. (Which, by the way, are quite extensive and onerous). We may draw a curious parallel with Mas Selamat's escape, and PM Lee's determined, if muddled, defence of Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng in Parliament. Mas Selamat ran away. But PM Lee said that Wong Kan Seng was not at fault and should not be punished in any way. The reason being that Wong Kan Seng personally did not do anything which allowed Mas Selamat to escape. Strangely, if your maid runs away, it IS your fault and you SHOULD be punished. Even if you did not personally do anything to let her run away (apart from giving her a day off). Similarly, if your maid becomes pregnant, it IS your fault and you SHOULD be punished. Even if you did not personally do anything to make her pregnant. Oh well. What can I say? Maids are not terrorists. But then you are not Wong Kan Seng. So the rules remain stacked against you. Wong Kan Seng gets off lightly, but you won't. Even if his lapse has far greater, and graver, implications than yours. Your runaway maid wouldn't blow up Changi Airport, would she? UNQUOTE
  6. Well...this thought came across my mind yesterday night while I was getting onto CTE(Towards North Direction) from PIE (Towards West Direction)...As the lane merge and narrows...everyone is like trying to squeeze two car into one lane....Everyone whom have driven this road know that right to the end before joining CTE...the lane will become so narrow that it can only accomodate one car...so this is the bottle neck...no matter how many cars we can squeeze before...the bottle neck is still there...by squeezeing will not enable more car to go through the bottle...probably it will just bring you one or two vechicles ahead but at the expense of other inconvenient and possibility of accident.... Now for the story yesterday night...right after the flyover...I am merging with traffic going into CTE from PIE (Towards East Direction)...There is small section where there is two lane...one for vehicles coming from PIE East Bound and one from PIE West Bound..So I move into the outer lane...there is a honda odessey coming very fast behind me...the front is all slow traffic(Because of the bottle neck)...Without me he also need to slow down...well he flash his light at me...i think maybe he is not happy with me for being in front of him...anyway we move on...right after the bottleneck..I move 1 lane left into CTE...Else I will be in the lane for turning into braddell...I can see he trying to move left too...but isn't a courtesy to let the vehicles in front move out first...please don't think I am bragging...but he is not as fast as me...so I filter first and he is still behind me...then he put on his damm stupid action...he squeeze his way out into the next lane and trying to move into my lane from beside me...yes...trying to knock into me...I move as much as possible away from him...he is crazy and a loser...that's what I think...it is common on the road to have people drive into your way...is singaporeans becoming a sore loser in some sense....anyway...driving to me is to get from point A to B...I am never proud to be a car owner...Its a negative asset... [/color]YES>>>ARE WE SORE LOSERS ????
