  1. Male nurse molests male patient at Mount E Novena, says victim 'imagined things' under sedatives The victim also testified that his doctor told him such incidents should be kept "on the low". A Singaporean nurse, Ivan Lee Yi Wang, groped a male patient who was recovering from a gastro-colonoscopy. The molestation happened at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital in 2018. The 35-year-old nurse later denied his actions and said the victim had imagined the incident as he was under the influence of sedatives. On Feb. 20, 2024, he was found guilty of two charges of molestation following a trial, according to CNA and The Straits Times. First met at clinic The victim met Lee during his first visit to a clinic at Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre. According to the operator of Mount Elizabeth Novena hospital, Parkway Pantai, Lee had been hired by the clinic independently and was a not a member of the hospital staff. The victim had been suffering from abdominal pain, bloating, and excessive belching for three months. Lee helped to register him at the reception counter. Having obtained the victim's number from a form, Lee later sent him text using his personal number, inquiring about a follow-up appointment. The victim felt that this was strange and did not reply to Lee's text. He called the clinic directly instead to schedule the appointment. Inappropriately touched On Oct. 13, 2018, the victim arrived at the clinic for a gastro-colonoscopy — a procedure that involves the insertion of a tube into the digestive tract. He changed into a hospital gown. Lee also spoke to him before the procedure was performed. Following the procedure, he was taken to a recovery ward. According to CNA, the victim was awakened when he felt his hospital gown being lifted up and a "grip" from what felt like a hand on his genitals. He also caught sight of a flashlight which looked to be from a phone camera. The victim was shocked by what had happened and did not call for help immediately. Lee later returned and molested him a second time. Female nurse found the victim was "quite nervous" later A female nurse who testified for the prosecution said she saw Lee standing in front of the recovery room, and that he was about to open the curtain around the victim's bed. When she asked Lee if he was giving medication to the victim, he said "yes". The nurse then told Lee not to administer more medication. She also advised him not to enter the room as the patient was probably still asleep. When she entered the room later with another nurse, she found the victim to be "quite nervous". He insisted that they "make sure the guy is not standing outside of [his] door". Told to keep it "on the low" During his testimony, the victim added that his doctor later told him, "This sort of issue should keep it on the low." The doctor also said that it was up to the victim if he wished to make a police report, CNA reported. The victim also felt "accused" when another nurse said no incriminating pictures had been found in Lee's phone and that the flashlight he saw could have been from a blood pressure machine. It was all in his head: Defence During his defence, Lee's lawyers — Peter Low, Christine Low and Nelson Chee from Peter Low Chambers — argued that the victim had imagined the act of molestation, as he was under the influence of the drugs used to sedate him, CNA reported. They added that Lee was not prohibited from physically examining the victim in the ward and that he had a "suspicion and cognitive bias" against Lee. In response, the prosecution noted that Lee himself had admitted that the victim did not have a reason to lie about his offences. Lee also claimed that he had entered the room just once to dispense medicine, ST reported. For each count of molestation, he can jailed for up to two years, fined, caned, or face any combination of such punishments. https://mothership.sg/2024/02/male-nurse-molest-patient/

By Jasmine Chea — 03 Aug 2022, 05:47 PM A Malaysian doctor who was found guilty of sexually assaulting four male patients at a clinic in Hastings, New Zealand, back in 2014 has been deported According to Stuff, David Kang Huat Lim was found guilty of stupefying four men with sedatives in order to sexually assault them. In what was described as an extreme abuse of trust between doctor and patient, Lim was slapped with five charges of sexual assault and was sentenced to five years of imprisonment at Tongariro Prison. The assaults were reported to have happened over eight months in 2014. All had allegedly occurred at The Doctors clinic, located in Hastings, where Lim was practicing. The 46-year-old former doctor is a Malaysian national but had been living in New Zealand for 10 years Lim, who is originally from Malaysia, was medically trained in Scotland. She previously worked at the Hawke's Bay Hospital's emergency department for three years before moving on to The Doctors clinic to practice. Her medical licence was revoked following her sexual assault charges. Lim currently identifies as female and goes by she/her pronouns. She is in the process of transitioning from male to female. Lim's stay in New Zealand has come to an end following the completion of her five-year prison sentence According to NZ Herald, due to her denial of the charges, she did not receive offence-focused treatment, which aims to reduce the risk of sex offenders repeating their crimes. Because she did not go through the psychological intervention program, the court decided to deny Lim's release from prison and she was deported back to Malaysia on 1 June. According to the parole board of New Zealand, Lim will not be allowed to return to New Zealand. The person she would live with in Malaysia is aware of the charges, but believes Lim is innocent.

  5. Former teacher under probe for sex with male student who say SGrean not having enough heh-sho heh-sho why last time i skooling dun hav SINGAPORE - A former teacher from a top Secondary school is being investigated for allegedly having sex with an underage student, reported The Straits Times. The woman, who is in her 20s, is believed to have had sex with the boy more than once. The sexual encounters allegedly began when the boy, who is now 16, was a member of one of the school's sports teams. The woman was the teacher-in-charge of the team. The boy cannot be named as he is a minor, and the identity of the woman is also being withheld to protect his identity. The police confirmed that a report has been filed and investigations are ongoing. The case came to light after the boy's parents lodged a complaint to the school. (SABO!!!!!) The Straits Times reported that the former humanities teacher had left the school abruptly in March. She was reportedly seen crying in school the day before she left. Those who knew the teacher described her as "patient, knowledgeable, and outgoing". A former student interviewed by The Straits Times expressed shock at the news, as she "always put students first and knew where to draw the line". The principal of the school declined comment, saying they have not been informed by police of the matter. A spokesperson from the Ministry of Education said it will "work with the school as well as the police to investigate the case as necessary". This is not the first case where a female teacher has been accused of having sex with an underage student. In 2009, a 32-year-old teacher became the first woman to be jailed for having sex with a 15-year-old student in the school. The mother of two had six trysts with the boy in holiday chalets and in her flat. She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 months' jail. The Penal Code was amended in 2008 to make sex between an adult woman and boy below 16 a crime. [email protected]

  7. 8,800 PRs served NS over the last five years http://www.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne%2BNews...122-312037.html THis piece of news is damn misleading and very clever in hiding the number. SINGAPORE - A total of 8,800 males who had become permanent residents (PRs) under the sponsorship of their parents were enlisted and served their National Service (NS) over the last five years. About 6,100 have taken up citizenship. During the same period, about 4,200 males who had become PRs through their parents' sponsorship renounced their PR status prior to serving their NS. These figures were provided by Minister for Defence, Dr Ng Eng Hen, in response to a question posed by Nee Soon GRC MP, Dr Lim Wee Kiak, in Parliament today. In a written reply, Dr Ng said that the failure to serve NS will be taken into account when these former PRs apply to study or work in Singapore, and they had been warned about the consequences at the point of renunciation. The total male PR population is: 13000 eligible for NS But of which that became citizen is: 6100 meaning..............................Less than 1 out of 2 male PR is willing to become a citizen!
  8. another unfavorable report for women bosses. --- Male bosses preferred by all staff Tweet Share my paper Friday, Sep 02, 2011 By Victoria Barker MALE bosses are preferred by both female and male employees in the private sector, findings from a study revealed yesterday. Just over half of the female employees surveyed said they would rather have a manager of the opposite sex, compared to just one in five male workers. Just over half of the women polled and nearly six in 10 men also prefer working with male colleagues. The study by global recruitment firm Randstad took place over several weeks from July to last month, and involved 405 Singapore-based employees - split evenly between men and women aged 18 to 65 - who completed an online questionnaire. Almost seven in 10 employees polled currently report to a male superior. Ms Karin Clarke, regional director for Randstad's Singapore and Malaysia offices, said: "Women are very good at building strong teams, empowering staff... Men tend to compete to win. "(But) the most important factor is that employees respect the authority of their leader, are motivated, inspired and feel valued." Accounts manager Ronald Naidu, 27, who works for a communications company and reports to a male boss, agreed. "To me, as long as the boss is fair and reasonable, gender doesn't matter," he said. However, Ms Michelle Fong agreed with the report's findings. The 29-year-old sales executive for a home-grown engineering company said: "I've had female bosses in the past and found that they tend to be more moody and emotional. "Guys are usually more laid-back...as long as you do your job well." Despite the preference for male colleagues and bosses, some respondents - nearly three in 10 - said they believe the performance of their organisation would improve if there were more women in higher management. Ms Clarke attributed this finding to the fact that women are often perceived as being more collaborative and inclusive in their leadership. "In turn, this can drive better business performance, with employees becoming more engaged and motivated as their contributions are recognised," she added. Almost half of all employees also felt that their companies perform best when there is an equal ratio of men to women on the team. Mr David Ang, executive director of the Singapore Human Resources Institute, said that the results could be attributed to the fact that there are simply more men in the Singapore workforce, but added that each gender brings different things to the table. "Men may be more rational and straight to the point, while women may be more nurturing (as bosses)... Each have different strengths," he said. He added that gender should not matter to employers when recruiting staff. "The manager should, most importantly, have the skills, knowledge and experience to do his or her job," he said.
  9. CNA report : Meet a rare breed: The male pre-school teacher SINGAPORE: In the woman-dominated industry of pre-school educators, Mr Patrick Magno - who teaches at Kinderland - is a rarity. But the situation is gradually changing, according to pre-school operators. NTUC First Campus, which operates more than 90 childcare centres in Singapore, now has seven male pre-school teachers. Three years ago, it had none. According to a spokesperson, six of these male teachers were mid-career switchers who came on board after an in-house scheme was introduced to encourage people to join the industry. Its training arm sees about 10 male trainees every year. The PAP Community Foundation (PCF) kindergarten centres have about 12 male teachers, while private operators such as EtonHouse and Kinderland employ a handful. Said a PCF spokesperson: "We believe that male teachers are able to complement the role played by female teachers, just like in a family; we have a mother and a father." Ruling out hiring men as teachers narrows the talent pool for capable teachers, she added. EtonHouse International Education Group managing director Ng Gim Choo said men have proven to be capable for the pre-school profession and could act as role models for the boys. However, they are generally not attracted to the early childhood profession - which traditionally draws more women - and hence do not greatly ease the manpower crunch, she said. Prejudice against male pre-school teachers by parents, and the lack of awareness that childcare is also a profession for men, also keep their numbers low. EtonHouse said some parents have expressed reservations as routine duties include bathing the children. hmmmmmm......... Mr Patrick Magno, he sounds like Pinoy to me...... So the FT is going into pre-schoolers also. Don't be surprised if your kids came home and tell you "I'm buck from school" .......
  10. http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-bi...d-gay-male-porn Even a man who thought that women want to have sex with their fathers and that women spend much of their lives distraught because they lack a penis is right sometimes. This person, the legend that is Sigmund Freud, theorized that people often have the most hateful and negative attitudes towards things they secretly crave, but feel that they shouldn't have. If Freud is right, then perhaps men who are the most opposed to male homosexuality have particularly strong homosexual urges for other men. One study asked heterosexal men how comfortable and anxious they are around gay men. Based on these scores, they then divided these men into two groups: men that are homophobic, and men who are not. These men were then shown three, four-minute videos. One video depicted straight sex, one depicted lesbian sex and one depicted gay male sex. While this was happening, a device was attached to each participant's penis. This device has been found to be triggered by sexual arousal, but not other types of arousal (such as nervousness, or fear - arousal often has a very different meaning in psychology than in popular usage). When viewing lesbian sex and straight sex, both the homophobic and the non-homophobic men showed increased penis circumference. For gay male sex, however, only the homophobic men showed heightened penis arousal. Heterosexual men with the most anti-gay attitudes, when asked, reported not being sexually aroused by gay male sex videos. But, their penises reported otherwise. Homophobic men were the most sexually aroused by gay male sex acts.
  11. Stand for election? 'Ensure male candidates do NS first' By Teh Joo Lin & Cheryl Lim WORKERS' Party (WP) secretary-general Low Thia Khiang yesterday proposed amending the Constitution to ensure that all male election candidates must have done national service (NS). He said it did not feel right for male MPs to represent the people unless they have gone through that rite of passage. Mr Low did not name names, but his point was clearly aimed at People's Action Party (PAP) new face Janil Puthucheary, 38, who became a citizen in 2008 and has not gone through NS. Rejecting those without NS stints would only be fair to everyone who has been through it, he said, including himself and his Aljunied GRC teammate Chen Show Mao. Taiwan-born Mr Chen, a top corporate lawyer, did his NS before taking up citizenship in 1986. Mr Low said the PAP should not field a candidate 'who just became a new citizen without serving national service'. He pointed to the tough stance that the Government takes against Singaporean males who default on their NS obligations, and referred to statements by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, who is also Defence Minister, on the subject. Mr Low pointed out that Major-General (NS) Chan Chun Sing, an MP-elect for Tanjong Pagar GRC, took a different line when asked about PAP candidates who had not done NS. He quoted MG Chan as having said that someone who was not a citizen previously might not have done NS, but the more important question was what he could contribute to Singapore. Mr Low asked: 'How can a former Chief of Army publicly state something contradictory to the Minister for Defence?' Mr Chen, who also spoke at the WP rally last night, called for a more calibrated approach to immigration, in response to Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang's comments that capping the size of the foreign workforce presented a 'real dilemma' for the Government as it would likely mean turning away big-money investments from abroad. Mr Lim had said on Sunday: 'We will keep foreign workers to one-third of the workforce, but I can tell you that one-third is a very severe limitation to us.' Mr Chen said: 'Do you know why it's one-third? I don't know. Shouldn't we send someone to Parliament to ask them?' He pointed out that the WP was not anti-immigration, but foreigners had to contribute to Singapore, instead of depressing the pay of locals. Mr Chen added: 'The test of our progress as a nation is not whether we have more for those who already have much, but whether we provide enough for those who have less.'

  17. http://sg.news.yahoo.com/afp/20090707/tts-...at-34aa993.html SEOUL (AFP) - - Almost three-quarters of South Korean male office workers feel uncomfortable when female colleagues show too much leg or cleavage in the workplace, a survey has revealed. A poll of 1,254 employees by the job portal site CareerNet found that 74 percent of men felt upset with the attire of their female co-workers. Some 56 percent of them cited micro-miniskirts as their chief complaint, while 51 percent objected to excessive cleavage. Low-rise trousers that reveal women's underwear, "killer heels" and flashy outfits in general were also cause for complaint. Women meanwhile complained mostly of stains on the shirts and ties of their male colleagues. Both sexes disapproved of colourful underwear under a white top, slippers or sandals and sleeveless clothes. South Koreans in general still dress conservatively in the workplace, with an emphasis on suits and ties among men. Serious these koreans guys really no words to say....i dun mind having female co-workers wearing micro-miniskirts, showing their g-string when bend down or cleavage :p

  19. Voluntary HIV-screening for all adult male inpatients at hospitals By Julia Ng, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 18 September 2007 1702 hrs Voluntary HIV-screening for all adult male inpatients at hospitals SINGAPORE: By year's end, all adult male patients admitted to hospitals will be asked if they would like to take a HIV-screening test. Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan told Parliament on Tuesday he is also changing the Infectious Diseases Act soon so that no one will be able to claim ignorance of one's HIV-positive status as defence against charges of high-risk behaviour. He said: "All individuals who engage in high-risk sexual behaviour must go for regular HIV-testing. The Infectious Diseases Act makes it an offence for someone who is HIV-positive to have sex without informing his sexual partner of his HIV status. I will soon come to this House to amend the Act to clarify that ignorance of one's HIV status will not be a defence for those who engage in high-risk sexual behaviour." There are 3,338 known HIV-infected patients in Singapore, with 278 infected in the first eight months of this year. But what is worrying, Mr Khaw said, is the prevalence of undiagnosed HIV. A Health Ministry study conducted early this year found this to be 1 in 350, or a prevalence of 0.28 percent. In 2005, United Nations AIDS estimated that Singapore's total adult prevalence of diagnosed and undiagnosed HIV patients was at 0.3 percent - higher than the 0.1 percent for Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Korea. Later this year, Singapore hospitals will start testing adult male inpatients on a voluntary basis. Some MPs have asked if the screening could be made routine for the entire population, but Mr Khaw said this move may not be cost effective. Dr Lim Wee Kiak, MP of Sembawang GRC, said: "Perhaps the Ministry could consider adding HIV-testing as part of the testing so the entire male cohort of Singaporeans can be screened regularly when they're doing their re-service or when they go back to NS (national service) at the age of 25, 30 or 35." Replying, Mr Khaw said: "Population-wide screening or testing will, of course, have a trade-off that we have to make in terms of cost to the screening. And also you don't want to cause unnecessary inconvenience to the vast majority. "That's why if you study the US CDC (Communicable Disease Centre) recommendation, they are careful in that even in hospital setting, they recommend voluntary but routine screening only if the prevalence is above a certain level. "And in our case, our adult male prevalence rate has exceeded the threshold, but not for females. That is why we're doing (this) step by step. "And I think the first step that we'll be doing before the end of this year is to start offering HIV-testing on adult males. With the benefit of those data, we can then plan our strategy, going forward." Mr Khaw added that so far, no country has made HIV-screening compulsory. Whats ur view on this? Why only male? I think female also muz check...

  21. U.S. study finds the risk of death higher for male drivers By Seth Borenstein - 19 Jan, 2007 AP That age-old stereotype about dangerous women drivers is shattered in a big new traffic analysis in the U.S.: Male drivers have a 77 percent higher risk of dying in a car accident than women, based on miles driven. And the author of the research says he takes it to heart when he travels -- his wife takes the wheel. "I put a mitt in my mouth and ride shotgun," said David Gerard, a Carnegie Mellon University researcher who co-authored a major new U.S. road risk analysis. The study holds plenty of surprises. --The highway death rate is higher for cautious 82-year-old women than for risk-taking 16-year-old boys. --The northeastern region known as New England is the safest area for drivers -- despite all those stories about crazy Boston drivers. --The safest passenger is a youngster strapped in a car seat and being driven during morning rush hour. The findings are from Traffic STATS, a detailed and searchable new risk analysis of road fatality statistics by Carnegie Mellon for the American Automobile Association. Plans are to make the report public next week, but The Associated Press got an early look. The analysis calculates that overall, about one death occurs for every 100 million passenger miles (160 million passenger kilometers) traveled. And it shows that some long-held assumptions about safety on U.S. highways do not jibe with hard numbers. It lists the risk of road death by age, gender, type of vehicle, time of day and geographic region. "We are finding comparisons that are surprising all the time," said study co-author Paul Fischbeck, a Carnegie Mellon professor of social and decision sciences. "What is necessary now is to go through and do that second level of analysis to figure out why some of these things are true." For example, those dangerous 82-year-old women are 60 percent more likely to die on the road than a 16-year-old boy because they are so frail, said Anne McCartt, a research official at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, who was not part of the study. "It's an issue not of risk-taking behavior, but of fragility," McCartt said. The elderly are more likely to die when they are injured in an accident, she said, an explanation that Gerard and Fischbeck validate. These elderly women have the nation's highest road death risks even when they're not driving -- five times higher than the national average. Right behind octogenarians in high risk are young male drivers, ages 16-23 with fatality rates four times higher than average. That can be attributed to "inexperience and immaturity," McCartt said. As for men being more likely to die than women? McCartt and Fischbeck said men take more risks, speed more, drink and drive more. "They do stupider things," said Fischbeck, a former military pilot who has twin toddlers and a "totally unsafe" 1974 Volkswagen Thing.
