  1. Fellow forummers: If u are think of buying anything from this shop esp aircon and also especially now when they have their expo sale. my advice is "forget abt it, buy elsewhere to save the unnecessary headache". My sad story (I am not a good writer and I make it short and sweet and also I am not trying to make people sympathize me) started the day when their installer came to my new flat to install the unit. See pic on their "superb" work done. My request on the work can be done as it is not limited by the building design. Upon seeing this, I questioned the installer, he told me it was done according to my reno contractor's idea. I am not sure what was the instruction given to him so I won't go indepth on this esp when both parties will claim they are correct. the installer being an specialist in the aircon industry, should know how ugly the end result would be yet he proceeded. Doesn't he know that we human want is beauty? so I asked him to rework, he replied not possible as the job is completed. I angry and lost so I called the Salesperson. this is what he told me, not the actual transcript but the content is real. me: the way the installer run the trunking is horrible, I want a rework sales: there is a charge incurred for all rework. me: har? but this is something unacceptable (mms-ed him the photo of the work) sales: once job is completed, it is completed. any rework, it is chargeable. our installer will not go wrong, he did what he was told. as an owner, u must be there to supervise the work, if not your contractor must be present.. me and sales keep on arguing... blah...blah... sounds stupid that I need to be present all the time when the work is done by "specialist". Supervising the "specialist" is an insult to them. had I known, I rather "insult" them than to make myself miserable I bought from them is because they sell themselves as an aircon specialist and I trust that nothing will go wrong but I was wrong Not the end yet..

Guess that is the basic when you drive on the road and what was taught when you went to learn driving, just don't understand why drivers can forget to turn on headlamp.

  4. The video below sadden me more than a bit: It just does not feel right about what we have been doing. But what to do? We need all the resources to build our infrastructures and buildings. But lets be mindful of the costs to other countries, whether we pay them fairly or not is another matter altogether. Our action is causing other people hardship, and that just feel terrible.
  5. Amoebas devour girl's cornea after contact lenses stay in for 6 months File photo depicting a case of Acanthamoeba Keratitis. Acanthamoeba keratitis, first recognized in 1973, is a rare, vision threatening, parasitic infection seen most often in contact lens wearers. Thursday, Jul 03, 2014The China Post/Asia News Network By Lin-Yi Shen TAIPEI, Taiwan - A college girl was found to have had both the corneas of her eyes devoured by amoeba after wearing disposable contact lenses for over half a year without taking them out. The girl bought a pair of disposable contact lenses that were supposed to be used for one month and wore them for more than six months, even while she was sleeping. After feeling acute pain in her eyes, she went to hospital and was diagnosed with acanthamoeba keratitis, which is caused by a protozoon called an amoeba. The infection was brought on by dirty water that she used to clean her face, doctors said. Acanthamoeba keratitis, commonly referred to as amoeba keratitis, usually afflicts contact lens wearers or people whose eyes come into contact with dirty water. Director of ophthalmology at Wan Fang Hospital Wu Jian-liang indicated that contact lens wearers are a high-risk group that can easily be exposed to eye diseases. A shortage of oxygen can destroy the surface of the epithelial tissue, creating wounds in the eyes and cultivating an environment suitable for amoebas to survive. Wu said that the college girl did not follow the correct procedure in maintaining the hygiene of her contact lenses and her overuse of the lenses gradually damaged her corneas. After half a year of wearing them, her corneas were devoured by amoeba and shrank to half their normal size. Unfortunately, polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB) or chlorhexidine, which are considered to be effective medicines in eliminating such amoebas, haven't yet been introduced to Taiwan, said Wu. Director of ophthalmology at Tri-Service General Hospital Lu Da-wen warned that no matter whether they are soft or hard, contact lenses should not directly come into contact with water, as this will increase their chances of becoming infected by other viruses and protozoon. Lu also stated that cases of acanthamoeba keratitis usually increase markedly during summer, and people should therefore pay more attention to proper hygiene at this time. - See more at: http://yourhealth.asiaone.com/content/amoebas-devour-girls-cornea-after-contact-lenses-stay-6-months#sthash.90qOvv55.dpuf
  6. Woman Poisons Dozens at Housewarming Party Trying to Kill Family Who Made Fun of Her Cooking A 23-year-old woman from Khalapur, India, is risking the death penalty for poisoning the food at a relative’s housewarming party in an attempt to kill attendees who made fun of her dark completion and cooking skills. Police in Khalapur claim that 23-year-old Pradnya Survase confessed to mixing snake poison into the dal served to some of the guests at a feast hosted by one of her relatives. She was trying to kill her husband and some of her in-laws, who she says had been mocking her dark skin and cooking skills for years. Unfortunately, poison doesn’t discriminate, and her assassination attempt put 88 people in the hospital, five of whom eventually lost their lives. “Pradnya claims that since her marriage two years ago, she has been insulted regularly for her dark complexion and accused of not being able to cook well,” said senior police inspector Vishwajeet Kaingade. “She has named her mother in-law, Sindhu Survase, husband Suresh Govind Survase, sisters in-law Ujwala Pawar and Jyoti Ashok Kadam, and her mother in-law’s sister Sarita Mane and Sarita’s husband, Subhash Mane for the alleged torture.” So when the young woman was asked to serve food at a housewarming party hosted by her mother in-law’s sister, she knew that all her abusive relatives would be among the 120 expected guests. She brought the snake poison with her to the feast, but didn’t get a chance to mix it into the dal before most of those she wanted to poison got a chance to eat. However, later in the day, the host, Sarita Mane along with Jyoti Kadam and Ulka Shinde’s kids sat down to eat and she decided to poison them instead A few hours after eating the food, people started complaining of nausea, vomiting and stomach ache. Three children, including Shinde’s son Rishikesh, died soon after being hospitalized, and a three days later another child and a 53-year-old guest also succumbed to the snake poison. Ironically, Pradnya Survase didn’t manage to kill any of the people she originally targeted. The 23-year-old confessed her crime after police started questioning those who served the food at the party. The maximum punishment she faces for her crime is the death penalty.
  7. Wonder why SG doesn't have Mitsubishi Eclipse ? Price should be close to that of a Hyundai Coupe (Tuscani). Car may not be great in terms of engine specs & power. But the body design sure looks beautiful.... Currently in 4th Gen. 5th Gen coming out next year. Looks 10x better than Lancer EX.... Looks better than any EVO (my opinion only hor....) Maybe they should keep that chasis and throw in the EVO system.... MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE 4th GEN 2005-2008

  9. Just watching Crash Test Dummies on Discovery Science. Shows how dummies are used to make cars safer. Made me recall seeing some adult front seat passengers in cars with a baby or toddler carried in their lap. They don't realise...(cannot be don't care right?) how dangerous it can be if the car rear ends the vehicle in front or driver e brakes....the child could be launched forward by the momentum and crash into the windscreen. Child seats are also life savers...i suggest parents be more strict with their children when it comes to seat belts. Even for short drive to school less than 2km away, I insist my kids put on their seat belts. You can be the safest driver in the world, but there are many who are reckless or bobo.
  10. I know this is random, maybe no one will be reading this thread. It is ok. Just want to know how many people out there still have their dreams unfulfilled. What are the things that you want to do but never have a chance to do it. My list goes on... 1) wish to see the aurora. 2) have every chance to bring my DSLR around the world and take nice pictures of scenery. Possible every sunset and sunrise. What are yours? http://calgaryherald.com/opinion/columnists/fortney-local-veteran-wins-chance-to-realize-an-unfulfilled-dream Was reading this article, thinking aloud will i ever be like this man, live to my 80 and recall that i still have dreams unfulfilled.
  11. Offer COE rebates to families with special-needs members Published on Feb 07, 2013 2 1 0 Purchase this article for republication Buy SPH photos I APPLAUD the Government's efforts in restricting car ownership ("COE categories for cars could be reviewed"; yesterday). But while car ownership is generally perceived as a luxury, it is a necessity for some families. As a mother of an autistic child, taking my son for long rides on MRT trains or public buses is a challenge due to his heightened sensory sensitivity to noise and crowds. On long rides, he will often fuss or, worse, suffer a full meltdown to the annoyance of other commuters. Taking taxis for routine trips is very costly and hard to sustain for an average-income family. Many families with elderly members or those with mental and physical disabilities face the same problem. Improving Singapore's public transport network and accessibility is of little or no help to us. At the same time, there is a growing number of households with more than one car, often because they can afford them and not because they need them. To help those who really need a car, some changes could be made to the current system: Give priority and certificate of entitlement (COE) rebates to families with members who have special needs, for first-car ownership per household; Impose a flat COE rate on first-car ownership per household, with subsequent cars per household subjected to the bidding system; and Have a separate COE category for luxury cars. In a post on his Facebook profile, he said the appointment takes effect from Jan 1, 2012, and that he will be based in both Hong Kong and Singapore. The Kerry group - primarily a property firm - also owns a controlling stake of the South China Morning Post, the most successful English-language newspaper in China and Hong Kong. 15. Raining again. Nothing you can do so just stay home, dl movie and watch la! I know.. another movie thread from me. I'm a movie buff, and I love horror movies so I'm gonna strike off the movies in this list one by one. I've already watched some of them anyway. Enjoy!! 1. The Exorcist The Exorcist is known as “one of the scariest films of all time.” While many people don’t debate that, what they do debate is it’s watchability. Many people have said that they chose to sit through it once for curiosity, but what they saw was so terrifying they never wanted to see it again. Maybe it was the sight of a little girl masturbating with a crucifix or her head spinning a full 360 degrees. Well, it also might have been the spider crawl Regan did down the stairs. You could make a list all day about the reasons why you’d never watch this classic horror film more than once. 2. The Woman This was a film I must recently viewed through the almighty streaming Netflix service and was ultimately astounded by it. The Woman is about a seemingly “normal” family who takes in the last remaining member of a cannibalistic tribe. It doesn’t take long for you see that the family might be more barbaric than the prisoner. The excessive gore (usually revolving around cannibalism) and a sexual assault performed by a child will ensure that you never want to see this film more than once. Don’t get me wrong, this film makes a serious statement about mysoginistic behavior and the people we deem “normal” in everyday society. It’s worth a watch… once. 3. The Human Centipede This movie might win the award for the tackiest film of the year and it really isn’t necessary to watch one time. The film follows the exploits of a sadistic scientist who sows 3 victims together mouth to anus in order to create one digestive track. The first time one of the victims has a BM you’ll know there’s really no reason to watch this film once let alone ever again. 4. Hostel Torture porn king director Eli Roth made a huge splash in the indie circuit with this outrageously gory and torture ridden horror film about three Americans traveling through Europe. These empty headed too-old-to-be-frat-boys get caught up in a terrible game of human hunting and the events that follow will never leave you once you see it. The torture scenes are drawn out to prolong the gruesome scenes, but there is absolutely no pay off to any of them so there is really no reason to ever see this unnecessarily violent movie ever again. 5. The Last House on The Left The original film made in the 1970’s is considered a cult classic however, its source of fame is pretty disturbing. The remake and the original both feature a long and graphic rape scene of two girls out in the woods. By the time you see the rapists get much deserved justice in the brutalist of ways (the remake having way more brutality than the original film) you will feel both content and disgusted with yourself about why you were so happy to witness the brutal torture of another human being, even if they are a rapist! It’s enough to make you say “Once is enough.” 6. The Girl Next Door The girl next door is a horrific story about a woman who sexually, physically and mentally tortures a young girl who is staying at her residence. Another film entitled An American Crime stayed close to the actual, terrible event. Yes, some of the things in the film did happen to a poor young girl when she was staying with a psychopath while her parents ran off and joined the circus (literally). If seeing a girl being sexually assaulted with a coke bottle and watching children torture another another child isn’t enough to stop you from watching a film twice, nothing will. 7. Maniac This one is a relatively new horror film about a young man ( played by Elajah Wood who deliveres a career pinnacle performance) who is way more obsessed with store mannequins than he should be. Oh yeah, and he’s a serial killer with some serious social issues. What makes this serial killer film so unique is that the audience witnesses the entire film through the eyes of the killer. You only see his face in mirrors or shiny surfaces. Witnessing the gruesome murders (most of which contain scalping afterwards) in 1st person view will make this film impossible not to stop watching. But, that dirty feeling you will have when you turn the movie off, will make you want to never watch it again. 8. Insidious This movie follows the strange ( and damn creepy) events of a family haunted by a supernatural being that seems to follow the father wherever he goes. Sounds pretty typical right? Not hardly. The jump scares are plenty, there’s one of the most frightening demons you’ve ever seen on film and lets not even talk about that creepy dancing shadow. You’ll think twice about scaring yourself so bad again by watching this film twice.. If you ever do. 9. The Orphanage This is one of the most depressing films I’ve ever seen, but it is still covered in a gothic like beauty. At times though it’s a little too gothic. It contains extremely haunting images of children with special needs (one in particular who walks around with a sack over his head). There are plenty of jump scares to keep you interested. The ending is so crazy emotional you’ll feel like your heart has been ripped out of your chest. You’ll never want to feel that way twice, trust me! 10. Excision Excision is the outrageous and gag inducing tale of a girl obsessed with blood and being a surgeon. There are so many moments (a few containing menstrual blood) that will make you want to instantly turn off this deranged film, but you’ll be too drawn to look away. You’ll have to see it until the very end and when you do be prepared for a swift, sharp kick to the gut! Between the punches and the yucks, you’ll never want to see this unique take on a psychopath in the making again! 11. Cannibal Holocaust Why this disgusting horror film with very little substance is considered a classic at all is questioned by many. It’s considered to be the first found footage film made, but some of its scenes are barely watchable. The movie details the last days of a film crew’s trip to the Amazon and their blood drenched experience with the natives. This film was banned in many countries and the director faced tons of criticism for killing real animals on film. Completely unnecessary right? Even the director said he wishes he had never made the movie! This movie is just all around sucking and if you stayed away from it consider yourself lucky as the grandiose violence means absolutely nothing. If you watched it out of curiosity, then I bet you won’t go there again! 12. Teeth This dark comedy is a real pleasure for any woman to watch one time. This movie is based on the classic legend about the woman with teeth in her vagina. It’s something a woman has fantasized about at least once and a nightmare every man hopes to never ever come across. If you’re a man it is 100% obvious why you’ll never want to see this film again (ouch). If you’re a woman, the terror of seeing another woman find out she has this“disorder” only needs to be witnessed once. 13. Funny Games If you get through this movie the first time, you’ll start to question your own sanity for watching this mind screwing film. Funny games chronicle the disturbing events of two young men who torture and kill an entire family. The film doesn’t use a lot of shock-and-awe violence, but plays out its murderous sequences as brutally real. If that doesn’t make you never want to watch it again, wait until the main characters speaks to you directly and fills you deep down with a big helping of guilt! 14. Hostel 2 While this film is much more enjoyable to watch than the original Hostel, the highly gruesome ( and imaginative) kill scenes make this movie only good for one viewing unless you really enjoy watching people be gutted like a fish obvious reason. The second movie in the Hostel franchise combines two intriguing storylines: that of captured women and the men who paid a huge amount of money to kill them. The ending will have you cheering and the mysogenstic attitude of many horror films is flipped on its head in this one, but I doubt you’ll ever take this movie for a spin again. 15. The Mist One of my favorite films based on a Stephen King novel, is about townsfolk who take refuge in a grocery store after a strange mist befalls their town bringing frightening “plagues” with it. This movie has one of the most brilliant (and controversial) endings of all time. It’s so explosive that many watchers of this film have told me they never want to see the movie again. Although I’ve been watching it a 100 times more. 16. 8mm 8mm is only good for one watch because of its obvious taboo and beyond frightening subject matter: the existence of a snuff film. A detective goes through a brutal investigation trying to find out if a film a woman turned in is really a snuff film or just staged to look that way. The movie is an excellent thriller, but digs down so deep into the grimy underworld you’ll have to take a shower when you’re done. It will also leave you questioning if the myth of the snuff film is more than just a myth. 17. A Serbian Film Just hearing about this film turned me and many other horror watchers off from ever watching it once let alone twice. This movie fits in as much depravity as possible by following the storyline of a man who agrees to make a porn film only to find out they’re the most depraved porn films on earth. The reason why you’ll never want to watch this movie twice if you ever get through it once: infant rape. Enough said.. Source: http://imgur.com/gallery/3Vly8 --------------------------------- And adding in number 18, one of the movies which I watched last year and found it to be pretty awesome too. 18. Recently i went to Penang and find that the Toy Museum is disappointing.. Drove about 30-45 minutes to the museum, i expected to see those classic toys.
  19. http://www.zdnet.com/sg/singapore-and-chin...ard-7000019667/ Summary: The transnational smart card will be rolled out in first half of 2014, and be used for public transport in Singapore and Chinese province Guangdong--in what is claimed to be a world first. The world's first dual currency transport smart card is being developed for use in Singapore and the Chinese province of Guangdong. The SINO Visitor Pass will allow travel in both Singapore and Guangdong. Dubbed the SINO Visitor Pass, it will allow commuters to travel in both cities with just one card, according to a press release on Wednesday. The contactless smart card will be launched in the first half of 2014 by Singapore payment service provider EZ-Link and Guangdong Lingnan Pass Company. The smart card will store both Singapore dollars and Chinese Renminbi. Besides public transport, it will also be accepted at more than 100,000 points in both cities, including retail and food and beverage. Additional functions will be progressively added after the launch such as inter-city top-up features and the integration of e-tickets to hold products such as tourist passes. "This means that in the future, visitors can also gain access to tourist attractions, food and beverage, retail deals and other lifestyle applications in both countries with this pass," said EZ-Link's CEO Nicholas Lee, in the statement.
