  1. We all know Nissan's GT-R is pretty receptive of mods and quite a few already have more than 1,000bhp. Seems like someone needs more. This particular example has 1,700 horses and probably enough torque to turn the earth. Where else better to unleash it than at Sun Valley Road Rally 2014 in Sun Valley, Idaho where it was clocked doing nearly 380km/h. Talk about a blazingly fast car - the 1,700bhp Nissan GT-R Goliath by Switzer, which purportedly set a new top speed record in a 1.6km run for GT-Rs at the recent Moscow Unlimited 500+ racing event. According to the organisers, only two other vehicles have surpassed the 400km/h mark in a 1.6km run - a Ford GT at 430km/h and a Chevrolet Camaro at 402km/h. Switzer's heavily modified yet street legal GT-R Goliath reached a speed of 402.23 km/h in 1.6km after just 22.602 seconds. The Goliath was made for an unnamed client (likely from Russia) with Switzer stating the following about said car, "The client wanted a GTR - but not just any GTR! The car the client asked us to build had to be 'for street use', not just 'street legal'. The difference there is the difference between 'comfortable' and 'tolerable'. He made it very clear that he expected this to be a 'real car' with full amenities. What he did not want was a stripped-down drag car that was technically street legal.   3. There is a new gentleman in France, and a fast one. This gentleman runs on four wheels instead of two feet. The heart of this man is a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V6 engine which pumps out 542bhp. We are talking about the GT-R Gentleman Edition which Nissan has offered specifically for sale in France. Only 10 units will be built. Based on the GT-R Black Edition, the Gentleman Edition is available only in Gunmetal Grey. The limited edition GT-R is distinguished by a pair of 'Gentleman Edition' badging located at the front fender vents. On the inside, the super car gets amber red leather upholstery and an individually-numbered titanium plaque. The leather-stitched steering wheel, gear stick and dashboard receive a sporty two-tone treatment. Gentlemen, start your engine!
  4. Nissan has previously announced that there will be a successor to the R35 GT-R and the next GT-R is due to be released in either 2017 or 2018. The GT-R's chief engineer, Kazutoshi Mizuno, also mentioned that the current R35 GT-R will evolve over the next five years. According to recent reports, engineers at the company are considering giving the next Nissan GT-R a hybrid powerplant. This might not come as a surprise since there have been a rising number of automakers experimenting with hybrid technology for their supercars. Nissan's engineers are looking at two possibilities at the moment. The first one is a hybrid set-up where one or more electric motors will help to boost the car's performance and depend on recovered brake energy for power. Nissan introduced the Infiniti Essence Concept with a similar hybrid technology a few years back and the concept was able to make around 600bhp. But, the heavy weight of the batteries used for the hybrid system was a real let down for the engineers at that time. The other option is a simpler one which utilises an electric motor to power up supporting items such as lights and etc. this will help to greatly reduce the load of the engine. Additionally, it will also help to boost performance by being mounted to the gearbox. The next GT-R might also feature engine stop-start technology and cylinder deactivation in order to improve fuel consumption. Introducing hybrid technology on supercars will have some benefits. Other than reducing emissions level and improving fuel economy, electric motors will give the car instantaneous torque, improved traction control (especially for all wheel drive cars) and increased range through reduced fuel consumption.
  5. Autocar's Editor, Steve Sutcliffe, recently pitted the Nissan GT-R Track Pack against the Audi A1 Quattro in a portion of the MIRA test track which is located in the former RAF Lindley airfield. The A1 Quattro is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 253bhp. On the other hand, the GT-R is propelled by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 with over 500bhp. So, with nearly two times the capacity and power, the German supermini seemed destined to be devoured by the Japanese monster. However, Sutcliffe's verdict was that the GT-R was all over the place as it was too heavy and could not put its excessive power down on the road while the A1 Quattro was much more composed. The GT-R recorded a lap time of 1:19.32 while the A1 complete the same route in a more convincing 1:14.80. However, GT-R fans may argue that the car's electronic stability control and traction control could be turned off during the test, resulting in its lacklustre performance.

Called the Chō Soku Henkei Gyrozetter, the new franchise has licensed several Japanese hot performance vehicles such as the Toyota 86, Mazda RX-8, Nissan GT-R and Mitsubishi Evo. Created by Square Enix, the company behind the Final Fantasy video game franchise and Dragon Quest Series, Chō Soku Henkei Gyrozetter was first launched recently as an arcade game with an animated film version set to be released later this year.   12. The current R35 Nissan GT-R is a car that is admired and adored by many. This is a car that could basically take on a 997 Porsche 911 Turbo and many other current supercars on most roads and win. The other thing about the R35 GT-R no longer carries the 'Skyline' tag. It isn't a Skyline anymore unlike the previous R32, R33, R34 Skyline GT-Rs. But Nissan is adamant that this GT-R still has the same heritage as the cars mentioned above in that it shares the same sort of all-wheel drive chassis (albeit with more technology). I believe it does as it follows the same overall look as the earlier GT-Rs. but if you really want to cement the heritage completely, I believe you have to get Wald International's Nissan GT-R Sports Line Black Bison Edition body kit. Wald International is a custom tuner that somehow dabbles in every type of car. From the Toyota Alphard MPVs to Mercedes Benzes to Nissan GT-Rs. You can also stare at amazement as they also body kit Rolls Royce Phantoms and Maseratis without fear. But their Nissan GT-R Sports Line Black Bison Edition is very tasteful in my opinion. It captures the essence of the first Nissan Skyline GT-R, the KPGC-10 from the 1970s with that simple black rear wheel arch extension and it works. The R35 GT-R looks like a modernized version of the 1st Skyline GT-R because of this. It links the first with the current one and I love Wald International for coming up with such a simple styling tweak that totally works wonders to the car. Wald International's Black Bison body kit (I still can't seem to fathom why they call their tuning range 'Black Bison') for the GT-R consists of a carbon fiber front bumper spoiler with a grille cover/front lip/side duct/under cover and fog lamps, FRP Side skirts, carbon fiber rear diffuser, carbon fiber boot spoiler, carbon rear wing flap, FRP rear over fender and 22inch Portofino rims in matte black finish. No. This body kit isn't all that new. It has been around for a while but I've just realized how complete this Nissan GT-R looks with it. Sometimes a tuner that does over the top most of the time can come up with a total gem.
