  1. Hope this is helpful and drive safely... for the guys do try to come back with 3 legs
  2. We start off the week with video that happened a week or so ago but only started to trend recently. Seen on SG Road Vigilante, is this particular Mazda 3 driver that became so triggered that he had to get out of his car with vulgarities spewing out of his mouth non stop. Like all road rage incidents though, it takes two to clap. Thankfully, the camera car driver was honest enough to show what he did that made the Mazda 3 driver so pissed. We could see him honking the Mazda as the road merge at the junction along Bedok North Road, before speeding past the Mazda which also tried to filter into the middle lane due to construction works ahead. Those two actions probably triggered the Mazda 3 driver bad and when he got to block the camera car, he made sure he was heard by the camera car. Probably not wanting to blow this up, the camera car drove off after the heated exchange of words but the Mazda 3, whose road tax had also expired, gave chase and did some not-very-nice gestures when he caught up... Let us know what are your thoughts on this case of road rage!

  5. Hello all In your opinion, which of these 2 areas have more upside potential? If you have the money, which area would you put your $$ on, from an investment perspective? TIA
  6. Guess the speed they are travelling in? I simply dont understand what is the mentality of these young people. How come you cannot keep to speed limit?? Young, inexperienced and like to hao-lian. Next time no chance to hao-lian already. I use the highway 15 times a month and most of the time my speed is a mere 110km/hour even though my car is bloody damn stable and my tyres will never burst due to extra applicant being applied on it. But I still keep to speed limit. Please learn your lesson. For many people, they learnt their lessons when they go downstair. She blames herself for driving car S'porean killed, girlfriend injured in N-S highway crash By Amanda Yong June 17, 2010 He would have turned 22 today. But Mr Soh Weihao died in a car crash in Malaysia on Tuesday evening. And his girlfriend, student Kammy Goh, 20, blames no one but herself. The second-year nursing student at Nanyang Polytechnic was behind the wheel when the vehicle hit a central divider on the North-South highway in Johor. The car was Mr Soh's, but he does not have a driving licence. ( And why he bother to buy a car to hao-lian in the first place?! ) ] The impact flung the young couple out of the car. Kammy suffered a head injury and fractured three toes on her right foot, her doctor said. Mr Soh, who had serious head injuries, died instantly. His body was taken to a mortuary in Batu Pahat.

  8. From what I observed from maps, North South Highway seem to be broken into two parts. The lower half of the highway will end somewhere in the south of KL, and the upper half will continue somewhere in the north of KL. Please correct me if I'm wrong. How do I continue my journey from Singapore to Penang this way? Please advise. Thanks!

  10. LEARN TO SURVIVE HIGHWAY THUGS Experts provide tips on how to protect yourself while driving up North By Tan Mae Lynn June 04, 2007 YOU are driving in Malaysia and have to make a pit stop along the highway. A man walks to your car, brandishes a knife and orders you to open the door. What should you do? Judging from the reaction of Singapore motorists involved in recent crimes, few know how to react when faced with such scenarios. Recently, a Malaysian woman, whose husband works in Singapore, opened the car door to an armed man while her husband was at the washroom of a petrol station in Tampoi, Johor. The assailant drove off with her and her young son in the car to a secluded spot where he and an accomplice took turns to rape the 28-year-old pregnant woman. In other cases, Singaporeans were accosted by robbers. Said Mr Lionel de Souza, a former police officer: 'If you're on a highway and being pursued, try and make a dash for a police station or a crowded area. 'If you're outnumbered, just give them what they want. It doesn't feel good to lose something, but your life is more important. You can always earn money back.' He also suggested driving to Malaysia in a convoy. 'At least if one is hijacked, the others can get help,' he said. 'And don't drive a flashy car.' Professional race driver Denis Lian, 35, who drives into Malaysia quite frequently, said the last thing motorists should do is open the door to strangers. He said: 'When you open your car door, or when you just step into your car, you're at your most vulnerable. CHECK MIRROR 'Before you come to a stop, look in your mirrors and see who's around or approaching. If you see anyone around who looks suspicious, or hovering around, or anyone who just makes you feel uncomfortable, drive off.' And never, ever get out of your car when faced with a suspicious situation. 'Your car is your weapon and your only defence. 'It's much safer behind the glass window... It's unlikely the person will smash the window - it's very difficult to do that.' Agreeing, Mr Tan Teng Lip, president of the Singapore Motorsports Association, added: 'Make sure you car is locked from the inside. Never wind down the window to speak to strangers. If you sense trouble, sound your horn to attract attention.' AVOID STOPPING As many Singapore families are expected to head north during the current school holidays, it may be prudent for them to be prepared for overseas road trips. Chief editor of Wheels Asia magazine, Mr Mazlan Samad, advised that even when someone bumps into the back of your car or causes you to hit into their car by braking suddenly, you shouldn't stop the car. He cited these as some of the common tactics robbers use to get motorists to stop their vehicles. 'If you're in foreign territory, alone or don't feel safe enough, take note of the car number but don't get off. Just drive to the nearest police post or petrol station to get help.' He also advised that it would be prudent to note down the telephone number of the traffic police or traffic emergency services in whichever country you'll be driving in. General manager of the Automobile Association of Malaysia, Mr Samuel Saik, added: 'If there's an accident, there's not much you can do anyway. It's better to make the call for the person than to put yourself at risk by getting out of the car.' Also, always keep to the main road and never stop at secluded spots for rest or toilet breaks, especially when driving alone and at night. 'Even Malaysians don't do that,' he said. source: http://newpaper.asia1.com.sg/news/story/0,...,132157,00.html?
  11. SEOUL - North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has had his defence minister executed with anti-aircraft fire for insubordination and dozing off during formal military rallies, South Korean intelligence said Wednesday, hinting at possible instability in the Pyongyang leadership. If confirmed, it marks another demonstration of Kim's ruthlessness in dealing with even the most senior officials suspected of disloyalty, following the execution of his uncle and one-time political mentor Jang Song-Thaek in 2013. It also points to possible power struggles within the top leadership, following Kim Jong-Un's decision to cancel a scheduled visit to Moscow last week in order to deal with "internal issues". Late last month, the NIS reported that Kim had ordered the execution of 15 senior officials so far this year, including two vice ministers, for questioning his authority. In a briefing Wednesday to a parliamentary committee, Han Ki-Beom, the deputy director of the South's National Intelligence Agency (NIS) said hundreds of people witnessed the execution of minister Hyon Yong-Chol, which was believed to have been carried out with an anti-aircraft gun around April 30 at a military academy in northern Pyongyang. - See more at: http://news.asiaone.com/news/asia/s-korea-says-north-executed-defence-minister-anti-aircraft-gun#sthash.9S6XTa3e.dpuf
  12. Was thinking of visiting NK previously with the wife, guess this is another example of how touchy the regime is. Guess this guy is screwed big time http://edition.cnn.com/2016/03/16/asia/north-korea-warmbier-sentenced/index.html (CNN)North Korea has sentenced American student Otto Frederick Warmbier to 15 years hard labor for crimes against the state, a North Korean official confirmed to CNN Wednesday. Warmbier had traveled to Pyongyang on a trip organized by Young Pioneer Tours, a China-based travel company. He was arrested on January 2, 2016, as he was about to board a plane to leave the country. Warmbier is escorted at the North Korean Supreme Court on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. In an emotional press conference last month, the 21-year-old student at the University of Virginia admitted to attempting to steal a banner with a political slogan from his hotel in the North Korean capital. It is not known whether Warmbier made the admission under duress. Appearing to read from a statement, he said: "I committed the crime of taking down a political slogan from the staff holding area of the Yanggakdo International Hotel." "I never, never should have allowed myself to be lured by the United States administration to commit a crime in this country," he said tearfully, as he begged for forgiveness. "I wish that the United States administration never manipulate people like myself in the future to commit crimes against foreign countries. I entirely beg you, the people and government of the DPRK, for your forgiveness. Please! I made the worst mistake of my life!" Warmbier tearfully confessed to "hostile acts" against the DPRK The North Korean government alleges Warmbier was encouraged to commit the "hostile act" by a purported member of an Ohio church, a secretive university organization and even the CIA. The tour company he traveled with said on its website it is aware of his sentencing and that it should "be viewed in similar context of previous cases of Americans being sentenced in the DPRK." Kenneth Bae and Matthew Miller are the most recentAmerican detainees who have been released by North Korea. Both were accused of perpetrating "hostile acts" against North Korea; Miller spent less than a year in custody after being sentenced to six years hard labor, and Bae, facing a 15-year sentence, was held for nearly two years. The pair secured their freedom in late 2014. Former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson told The New York Times he met with two North Korean diplomats on Tuesday to lobby for Warmbier's release. Richardson is a veteran diplomat and a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
  13. SEOUL—North Korea said Wednesday that it successfully staged its first test of a more powerful form of a nuclear weapon, expanding the U.S.’s foreign-policy challenges and highlighting the limits of China’s ability to rein in its volatile ally. An announcer on North Korean state television said in a midday broadcast that scientists had successfully detonated a hydrogen bomb at around 10 a.m. local time. The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a magnitude 5.1 earthquake was triggered at that time near North Korea’s nuclear test site in the northeast of the country. Experts have said it was unclear whether North Korea had developed the ability to build a hydrogen bomb. The magnitude of the latest explosion was the same as a 2013 test of an atomic bomb. U.S. officials said they were working to confirm North Korea’s claim. In the past, U.S. officials have questioned North Korea’s claims to technological breakthroughs. At the same time, the Pentagon last year said it has determined that Pyongyang is close to or already capable of miniaturizing nuclear warheads so they can be mounted on missiles and launched across the globe. Confirmation that Pyongyang has conducted a nuclear test of any kind is likely to accelerate U.S. responses across a variety of fronts, and add to pressure on the Obama administration to step up action on sanctions and missile defense. North Korea has staged three test detonations of atomic bombs; the latest was in 2013. A hydrogen bomb is more powerful and uses nuclear fusion to trigger an uncontrolled chain reaction. “The yield of this explosion doesn’t seem to be big enough to be a classic hydrogen bomb,” said Jeffrey Lewis, director of the East Asia Nonproliferation Program at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies. In a statement from its state media following the test, North Korea said its scientists had verified “the power of a smaller H-bomb.” South Korea denounced the test as a violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions that ban the North’s nuclear weapons development. “North Korea’s provocation is in clear violation of Security Council resolutions and a serious challenge to international peace and security,” Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam said during an emergency meeting of ministry officials.U.S. officials say they have repeatedly tried to engage North Korea in dialogue about its nuclear program in recent months, but Pyongyang hasn’t responded to their advances. John Delury, a professor at Yonsei University in Seoul, said the decision to go ahead with a test was likely driven by technical needs to continue to test nuclear devices. While the nature of the latest test remained unclear, it highlighted the commitment of North Korea’s young leader, Kim Jong Un, to continue confronting its neighbors despite recent hopes of a shift in its emphasis on dialogue. In a speech on New Year’s Day, Mr. Kim said he remained committed to a military confrontation with other nations, even as he called for talks with South Korea. Following an armed standoff in August, the two Koreas agreed to hold high-level dialogue but the talks have stalled due to differing priorities held by each side.
  14. adrianli is prolly the best guy to help on this but any others of you lot got any ideas? 2 or 3 weeks duration. Time is not of the essence. Do I have to book up at hotels before I leave??? Don't appreciate driving like most of MCFers but want to have a better look around Malaysia. Thinking about Sing to Tanjung Malim/Slim river as first leg. Then up to Ipoh as second leg. Then a week around Ipoh. Ipoh to Kota Bharu or Kuala Trengarru as next leg. KT to Kuantan. Kuantan Singapore. Are there better places to stop with nicer hotels or better/more interesting places to see? Are the roads from Ipoh to Kota Bharu good in rainy weather. Anything else I should be aware of. Thanks guys.
  15. THE STATE News Agency of North Korea has confirmed today that the country has become the first in the world to ever land a man on the sun. It reported that astronaut Hung Il Gong left for the sun on a specially designed rocket ship at approximately 3am this morning. Hung, who traveled alone, reached his destination some four hours later, landing his craft on the far side of the lonely star. “We are very delighted to announce a successful mission to put a man on the sun.” a North Korean central news anchor man said on a live broadcast earlier. “North Korea has beaten every other country in the world to the sun. Hung Il Gong is a hero and deserves a hero’s welcome when he returns home later this evening.” The specially trained astronaut is expected to return back to earth at 9pm tonight, where he will meet his uncle and supreme leader Kim Jong-un. It is understood that the 17-year-old ‘space explorer’ traveled at night to avoid being engulfed by the suns rays, and that this genius approach has brought the soviet state to the top of the global space rankings. While on the sun, Mr. Hung collected sun spot samples to bring back to his supreme leader as a present. The 18 hour mission is already being called the ‘greatest human achievement of our time’ by the North Korean central news agency. http://waterfordwhispersnews.com/2014/01/21/north-korea-lands-first-ever-man-on-the-sun-confirms-central-news-agency/
