  1. Big Box opened today! Yes, today, 27 Dec 2014. Big Box is a warehouse retail mall, located very near to Jurong East MRT station. We decided to go check it out. It was crowded! True to its name, it felt like a huge warehouse. The most interesting was the hypermarket on the ground floor, selling goods in a warehouse concept. Were the stuff sold at the hypermarket cheap? Not really. Some things seem a bit cheaper than say NTUC, but overall the prices were comparable. But I could be wrong. We didn't spend a lot of time in the hypermarket. There was also huge space devoted to the sale of furniture on the 2nd the 3rd floor. It felt like Big Box wanted to compete directly with the likes of Ikea in this respect. This was the first day of opening and things were still a bit messy. Still, this place is an interesting addition to the retail scene. Check out the video. http://youtu.be/cdulBMKBLlE

  5. Plaza Singapura’s new Nomadx also combines eating and shopping with gaming for an interactive experience. Taobao fans can now take their shopping sprees offline at the new retail concept Nomadx at Plaza Singapura. Spanning 11,000 square feet across two levels of the mall, Nomadx houses Singapore’s first physical Taobao store, as well as 17 other brands offering fashion, beauty, consumer electronics, food and drinks. Taobao is only one of the online stores that has a physical outlet for the first time. The other brands include clothing rental service Style Theory; fragrance design and mixology label Oo La Lab; Digital Fashion Week’s multi-label boutique; and F&B brands Teapasar and By Peapods. But while Nomadx is bringing digital shopping into the physical realm, it’s also enhancing the shopping experience through digital technology. For instance, at the Mamonde skincare counter, you can place any product on a reader and have its information displayed on a screen. Over at Style Theory, you can scan QR codes to receive sizing and styling recommendations. Fashionistas can also shop for new-to-market Nomadx exclusives from fashion brands, such as Karl Lagerfeld’s Pins collection of bags and accessories rolled out in partnership with Robinsons. If you are more used to spending time in the virtual world than offline, you can choose to take part in a “game”. When you sign up through one of the store’s tablets, you’ll be assigned to a “tribe” based on the shopper’s profile you relate to best. You’ll then be able to receive products and deal recommendations based on your tribe profile, as well as see what other shoppers in your tribe bought. To complete your shopping experience, Nomadx also houses F&B outlets Bizen Wagyu Steakhouse By Aston Soon, Coco & Frank, and Waa Cow! Express.

  17. Went in yesterday afternoon. Overheard from the reminder from 933 radio station so decided to go take a look. Not much cars so journey was smooth. Upon reaching there, wah first time see so many cars and people there. Haha. But still managed to find a sheltered parking lot within 5 mins. The carpark layout is similar to the Giant store in Tampines Ave 10 over here in SG. The smaller tenants format roughly the same as Tesco Tebrau, even Tesco store itself the layout was about 95% similar..haha...but the tv section was much neater and bedding section there have more varieties. Bought lots of things. Btw the makan section there was crowded man, the sushi counter/grilled chicken with long queues....where to find RM1 sushi and RM8.60 chicken? haha Lots of discounts and freebies given too. Many of the promoters shove haircare sachets, samples to me. Btw, saw this brand of crab spread, look abit like those tuna spread. bought some and tried. Yummy!!! Opening promotions will end this coming Sun. But I anticipate more crowds on weekends leh... Btw there's only a KFC there and a foodcourt. So bros here if wana have good makan probably need to go over to Jusco nearby.
  18. CNG station at Toh Tuck Opens! Now, it's 1 km from my home!
  19. Owners and lovers of classic BMWs have what to be thankful for. The Bavarian automaker estimates that roughly one in ten units it produced through the 1980s are still on the road, accounting for some 600,000 classic cars and another 70,000 motorbikes... that it knows of. In order to service and repair all those vintage vehicles, BMW has expanded its Classic Center and opened it up to the public. Previously known as the Historic Workshop, the classics department has until now been responsible for maintaining the factory's own collection of classics. Now the enlarged division is opening up its doors for privately-owned vehicles, with services extending from re-manufacturing discontinued parts to factory certification and even sales. In addition to the reborn BMW Classic Center, the company has launched a dedicated motorsport division for vintage Bimmers and Minis, offering race support services and even complete restoration of racing models for such events as the Oldtimer Grand Prix, Goodwood Festival of Speed, Mille Miglia and Le Mans Classic. With the worldwide count of classic BMWs expanding each year, the Classic Center and Motorsport divisions promise to keep vintage models on the road and track for years to come.
