  1. Hi All, i had recently purchased a 'new' 08 kia cerato variant 2, intending it to service my needs of ferrying my family and kiddo around. Everything seems well and fine, until i went for a fan belt, water pump change 2 weeks later, as i want the car to be in perfect running condition. After the change, things starts going haywire.. the car temperature gauge starts to creep up past 1/2 point mark, till 3/4 to 'Hot'. This happened when i drove the car for some time (30 mins or so?) and when the car is idling either from traffic lights, or parked in the parking lot. Rev-ing the car in neutral, or moving off will result in temperature dropping. Fan is spinning when aircon is on, fan is spinning when aircon is off as well, hence mech said its isnt the issue. Went back to garage the next day, was advised to changed out radiator and refresh a few hoses, as the radiator were kinda chocked with, and it even choked several hoses as well. Thermostat had been removed as well -.- Sadly, after doing all the changes, the issue still persist. Noticed during the testing of car after installation done, air bubbles were present in the coolant reserve tank. Mech said most likely head gasket is gone as well. Curious any bro or sis or gurus had any similar experiences on this? how much roughly will the repair cost be this time? Sigh :/ Thanks!
  2. Hi Recently my swift was stalled on the road due to radiator water leakage, the radiator are empty when I open up the cap, temperature show H for a while before it turn back to C even through the tank are empty. After the workshop check the car, I was ask to replaced the radiator tank and water tank as both leakage. But after I drive back , the engine light start to light . They check but could not find the correct code. The car will start to jerk and rpm will start to move when the car is idling. They suspect the engine are overheat and could already damage. Tonight I went back to the car and open up the radiator cap and notice all the water inside the new radiator are gone as well. Could it be possible ?this are a 8yrs car with more than 200k mileage .
  3. diyed my hoses yesterday, cos they were apparently leaking but somehow solved themselves over time. was leaking recently again so decided to change. drained out the coolant, was about 2L.. but when i tried to put back, only can fit in 1L.. why? i made sure visually there were no kinks or bends, everything was the right way. today when i was driving to sch, the water temp on the dashboard shot up to almost red.. my other water temp gauge also shot up.. stopped by the road and i realised... i didn't tighten the hose going from the top of the radiator into the engine coolant was leaking from the engine side and steam was comin out. tightened it with a 10c coin.. but still the temp was rising. when i reached sch, found my flat head and screwed the hose clip tight... after starting the engine... the temperature still rose up quite quickly to red. coolant reservoir is still full.. weird things is, when i shut down the engine.. the water temp reading on my gauge fell down quite quickly... usually it would just hang on there but today it dropped really fast how how?? the car is still in sch n i can't get back home
  4. ABOUT 85,000 people in the Asia-Pacific region, including Singapore, are carrying Sony laptop computers which are reportedly in danger of overheating. The Japanese electronics giant yesterday told buyers of its Vaio TZ series through its websites that a 'limited' number of its laptops may 'in rare cases, generate heat around the DC (direct current) jack inlet and frame of LCD screen, which creates the potential of deformation of the plastic casing'. Sony did not have a breakdown of figures for how many people in Singapore are affected, but it is known that there are nine models under this series that have been sold here between May 2007 and August this year. In all, about 440,000 laptops in 19 models are affected worldwide, and there are seven known reported cases of 'minor burns', a spokesman said. Customers who want to check if their notebook computers are affected can go to http://www.sony.com.sg/support/ announcement/274038. The company will inspect and repair affected models for free.
