  1. How easy is it to get a motorcycle license? Whoever’s in charge might want to up the difficulty if this rider was able to pass. What happened? On 17 April yesterday, a motorcyclist and their passenger hit a Nissan NV350 while changing lanes on the Pan-Island Expressway. Yeah, ‘big whoop’, I hear you say, but what gets me is how avoidable this was. Another biker was able to continue in that same lane with no issues. You could argue it’s that other biker’s fault, since they passed them right before they were about to change lanes. But they were still facing the road and so could see that this biker was going way faster than them. There was also enough distance to see that there was plenty of time to slow down. However, if you look at the Nissan, notice how it accelerated before slowing down as well. Yet even once it slowed down, there’s a solid two seconds before our main biker hit the Nissan with no signs of braking. Regardless of external factors, bro does not know what braking is. As a result, both rider and pillion took a rough fall. Both of them were not wearing riding gear and rolled a couple times. Yikes. Online chatter For some reason, Facebook users seem to have a knack with involving women despite how they may have zero influence on the situation. As seen with the female pillion rider. No comment on that… Others criticised the rider for not paying attention, which put not only his life at risk but also his passenger’s. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. After this incident, the rider should re-enroll himself for a few more courses at the driving school. A video of a motorbike rider crashing face-first into a turning lorry has gotten the attention of netizens online. Posted on Facebook yesterday (17 March), the lorry driver paired the video with a simple caption: 'Never beat the traffic lights, especially if you are riding a bike, the impact will be greater.' The short clip features the cam driver riding down a bend before arriving at a traffic junction. Intending to make a right turn, the driver properly aligned himself with the correct lane. Upon noticing the green turning arrow, the cam driver made his turn. At this moment, the motorcyclist enters the scene as he confidently travels straight through the junction. Realising that the rider had beat the red light, the driver immediately stepped on his brakes and honked loudly. Instead of swerving like most riders do, the motorcyclist slams head-first into the large vehicle, creating a large splintered crack on the windscreen. Now that will definitely leave a nasty mark! Netizens' reactions Most netizens quickly sided with the cam driver, agreeing that the rider should not have recklessly beaten the red light. Yeah, I wonder what was going through his mind. Agreed! If you intend to disobey traffic rules, you should be prepared to face (literally) any and all consequences. Can you imagine if the driver didn't have a good camera installed? The horror of dealing with insurance claims without solid video evidence is not something that I would want to go through. In all seriousness, I am genuinely confused as to why the rider didn't swerve his bike. Did he already give up the moment he saw the lorry? Or does he not know how to do it? Isn't swerving from danger one of the first few things you learn as a motorcycle rider? ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 3. I was watching the Channel U news a moment ago. The editor of Sin Ming paper who caused the death of a 24 year old maid and injured a 70 year old rider was previously sentenced to 18 months' jail when the first sentence was passed. She appealed and managed to reduce the 18 months' jail to 1 day. Why the initial sentence can be changed so drastically?
